I don’t know why people have had such bad times here. My husband and me went Thursday Sept, 22nd about 5 pm. . Walked right up, no wait. The most friendly and sweetest lady was working and she had us all done in less than 10 mins. It was the car we asked for, full of gas and very clean. No doubt we will use Dollar again. The desk clerk was not knowledgeable. She didnt even know their own rules and regulations. She told us the car we would be getting was black and when we went to the spot to get it, it was white. The maintenance department was terrible on the car. The inside needed vacuumed. The tires werent rotated and balanced properly . When you would get the Nissan Rogue up to 55 or 60 it would shake violently. Was worst rental experience we have ever had over many years of rentals. RENT SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!!!!!
Wish I had seen these reviews before. This company is horrible. Waited over an hour and a half to get a car. We had reserved well in advance. They ended up giving us one of Hertz small cars. I wont be surprised if this place also goes bankrupt. Theyre an effin joke. Wont be using Dollar again.
DECEPTIVE, FRAUDULENT, SCAM, RIP OFF!!!If I could give negative stars I would!Booked through a third party, I requested pick up at 09:00 & drop off at 23:45. Immediately after paying, the reservation was changed to pick up at 10:00 and drop off at 10:00. I tried to change the times back to what I requested only to have the website say there was an error. Called the third party who said to call this outfit. Called here and was told to call the third party. After that I decided not to even bother picking up the car & was still charged almost $400 plus an international transaction fee! Do not waste your time or money here!
I paid for the car upon booking and arrived at the confirmed pick up location to be told that there were no cars available. I immediately called the customer service number on my reservation ticket and was told I would receive a refund in 5-7 business days. It has been 10 days and I still do not have my money back. I have called the customer service number on my reservation twice today and was hung up on both times. I WILL NEVER USE DOLLAR AGAIN.
Arrived at my pickup time for my reservation... waited an hour in line, get to the counter... they have no cars! The agent said it would be a 20-30 minute wait while they got a car ready. Nope! Now there are 7 people waiting on line behind me for their reserved rental car! What the heck? This is how we do business now? Customer service anyone?
I do not recommend this company. I flew into KY after reserving my vehicle. To find out that they do not have a car for me at all. I am out of state with no vehicle. The customer service is horrible. When I called to see if there is something they can do to fix the problem. They basically said I’m SOL. Please do not waste your time they are unreliable for car rentals.

Flew in Sunday night and had reserved a car 2 weeks out only to find a line of angry customers who also had reserved but there were no vehicles. They are renting out vehicles earlier in the day to people with no reservations. Demand was high so they sold us out for more money. Reserve at your own risk.
So, when you go on a vacation, you tend to budget for certain things... renting a car is one of those things. Dollar doesnt care. Theyll overbook with reservations. My family reserved a car, expecting to get the car we reserved, and we did the complete opposite. We waited in line for an hour, just to get to the desk and have them tell us they have 8 people in front of us for that certain car. It was either wait for availability, or upgrade. We have a 9 month old baby, with 4 suitcases,the only we can do was upgrade. So, they gladly upgraded us, by charging us $300 more than what we were paying. It was just a complete disaster. Luckily, we had enough money to do that, but any other time, we wouldve been waiting days for a car.Shame on you dollar.Its not the workers fault, its the companys
U can literally book a car thru the booking sight and go to pick the car up n not have the correct payment method cant believe no one has came up with a much simpler way to rent a car just ridiculous
Terrible customer service at Louisville Airport location!I had a unexpected experience last Friday!! I made a reservation for a minivan more than a week ago,I was there to pick up the minivan at 5pm... and the lady told me that they havent a minivan, told me to wait 20 minutes so they tried to find a car for me somewhere. They found a minivan,but needed to be clean before. Conclusions: I spent more than 2 hours of my vacation planning waiting in from of them without a explanation. I decided to cancel everything and go home . NEVER NEVER again Ill be a reservation with this company!!!!
Waited 2 and a half hours in a line to find out the “surprise” vehicle I rented could only be a small car. The 280$ rental soon turned into 480$ because they told me they had to hold 200$ on my card until the return I’ve rented several places and have never had such an experience. After wasting the 2 and a half hours in line I then found out that those two hours wouldn’t be taken off my rental payment with no explanation as of why. Upon returning the vehicle at a different airport location, there was no sign as where to park the vehicle I had to track down a air personnel to ask where to park it, after walking inside the air port the desk where I was suppose to return the car wasn’t even open! I had to wait again in a long line almost missing my flight to return a car. Needless to say I will not ever rent another car from this company and I will not recommend it to anyone! If ever asked how they air for a rental company it will be a very negative description.
Absolutely horrible service. The woman was very rude to us, drastically over charged us, and now were doing what we can to get back the money they took for insurance that I told them I did not want. DO NOT RENT FROM HERE. Uber would be cheaper and have much higher quality service. This business should be closed, so theyre no longer able to cheat people and waste their time

Horrible experience! Terminal attendant was lazy! Directed me to parking garage and when I got there the manger said it was something she could have handled. Credit card was charged an additional day b/c no one checked my vehicle (which I was informed was her responsibility in the morning upon arrival) Dropped rental off same night of the day van was rented! Terrible experience! Poorly ran and extremely lazy attendant! Older woman, short hair cut, with glasses.
The check in was very slow as always. They did not have the vehicle that I requested. But they did substitute a vehicle that served its purpose. The gentleman at the ticket counter was very friendly and did a very good job before me. And I will continue to use Dollar in the future. The only problem I saw was they only had about five cars available which I did not understand

Worst experience, they have some alternative way of. Earning money... Charing you a day more or give you trouble.They charged me also a day extra though I had returned the car on time. I took pictures to prove that I dropped the car on time... And that helped me.. It took me 2 months to get my money back.And the associates were talking to me like I have done some wrong. Please be aware and take all the evidence when you take and drop vehicles from Dollar.
What a joke I checked in on 1/17/21 filled out all the paperwork only to be sent to the garage where there was no attendant and no cars and all the lights out with a sign saying “return to terminal”. I went back to the terminal where y’all were checking 3 people in (for what cars I have no idea) and told you all to refund me but now you won’t close the contract so I can be refunded saying I have the car which I don’t. This is the worst service I have ever had. Now you all are telling me I have to go back to the airport to get the contract closed even though I did that yesterday. They couldn’t even give me a phone number. I had to have a friend pick me up in the end. I will never use dollar ever again.

The rental car agency desk clerk claimed that it did not have any cars available, even after a reservation was made on its website more than forty-eight hours prior to the date and time of intended pickup. At this particular airport, one has very limited choices and options. Thus, it is recommended that one not fly into SDF and have to rent a car. If you do, you may be disappointed.

I wish I could give zero stars. I had an emergency where I had to go 800 miles to pick up my granddaughter. I double checked, via the phone, that as long as I made my reservation 24 hours in advance and was reassured by Bella, that my Visa debit card would be accepted. I got to the counter to pick up my car and was told, that even though my debit card is through Bank Of America, they wouldnt accept it because its an unemployment funded card. Well, considering the current situation we are all in, many folks are, unfortunately on unemployment. So then I asked if I transfered the money from that account to another debit card, would my reservation still be good, I was told yes. I was then declined the use of another debit card, because its through Meta Bank. I then asked if I could use my PayPal Business Mastrecard and was told no again. I then asked if I could use a Venmo debit card and again told no. I almost passed out! Ive been trying for 2 days to go get my granddaughter. When I asked to speak to the manager at the counter at the Louisville International Airport, I was told they didnt have one. Then I asked for a corporate number. I finally managed to get Sheila to tell me they only accept Wells Fargo and Capital One as debit cards, unless you have an actual checking account. Well my Meta debit card does provide me with checks, I just dont have a need to use them. I pressed Sheila for her supervisors name and she told me it was Vannesa, who was unavailable to take my call. Dollar is deceitful in not disclosing their so called easy to pay with a debit card program. They are playing with folks lives by false advertising and not fully disclosing their stringent requirements. Like so many other corporations, their business practices have no regard nor do their higher ups care about providing assistance to their would be customers nor do they care how their deceitful practices may affect anyone. And in todays world, I had hope that companies understood were all in difficult times, but obviously this one does not. But by God, they care about their bonuses and bottom line. Shame on Dollar Rent a Car for causing a bad situation to become even worse. Btw a bus isnt an option, due to the rural area she is in.

If I could not rate it at all, I would. Worst customer service Ive ever experienced anywhere. The lady at the sales counter was curt and condescending. The policy concerning the use of debit cards when making online reservations wasnt stated. When I asked to speak to a manager, she told me to go sit and she would try to get him. 20 minutes later a young man came out, explains the policy, then states that you have to make a reservation 24 in advance. Which is NOT stated on the website. When I continued to ask questions, he said he wasnt going to argue with me, turned away from men with have a good day, and walked away. I was embarrassed and dismissed. Im now out a non refundable deposit for a dinner I was hosting in another city because of an nuclear rental policy. I contacted corporate office and they said this is a constant complaint. Next time Ill go with Avis and their inflated prices.

I am a frequent traveler and have to get cars often. Rented a truck from the Louisville airport location and worked with Dani. Best customer experience ever Ive ever had at a rental company. Dani made the transaction smooth, easy and quick. Plus, she was friendly and helpful. Couldnt have asked for a better experience. Also, I rented with a debit card. The truck I received was nice and it was priced awesomely. I dropped off after hours and it was also a smooth process. Parked truck and dropped off keys on a Sunday and my invoice was in my inbox by that night and my deposit was back in my account by Monday morning. Awesome experience!

Liars and thieves. Only gave one star because zero wasnt possible. Refused to honor car rental reservation despite being in their system and having taken $ from my account. In addition, the response to this by the social customer care team was a fail too.
Wife surprised me with a early vacation present to KY. Everything was great until we got to the car rental. After waiting in line for 30 minutes we were told that even though we had a reservation they did not have a car available for us. We are told we would have to wait an hour or more before a car was available. The staff was exteemly slow and showed no interest in truly taking care of the customers. We left and went with another more reliable rental company. Poor business practice all around

The folks at rhe counter are super friendly and very helpful!! I have rented at least 4 times from them now and have been treated amazing everytime. The line was super long and there were challenging customers but they handled it with patience and professionalism. I appreciate that a lot!!

If I could give them 0 stars, I would. I paid the quoted price for the vehicle which was $110. After arrival I was charged $300 more. I was told $110 would be deducted from that charge but then upon arrival was informed that was not the case. For a rental I thought would be $110, I ended up paying $446. If you want to be charged exorbitantly, go with Dollar. Otherwise its best to take your business to a less shady company. I will NEVER rent from here again and I will be telling everyone I know to steer clear as well.
I had a very smooth experience renting from Dollar recently. My flight got in later around 11 PM, so there was no line when I got to the counter. The lady working was friendly, covered all the options, and didnt push too hard when I declined insurance and other upgrades and add-ons. She was also very clear that if I didnt fill up the tank myself before returning, they charge you $10/gallon to refill! I thought that was a bit outrageous, but because I took care of it myself it wasnt an issue. Returning the car was also quick and easy; I pulled up, got my bags, the employee checked everything, gave me my receipt, and I was off.Overall, a nice experience and I would rent from them again in Louisville.
My rental went smoothly. I would rent from Dollar again. I appreciated the upgrade in car model when I had to wait. The computer system went down, so I wasnt able to use my express status. It was easy returning the car as well.
This rental company doesnt deserve the single star too. They gave me the scratch car while renting, then i took some pictures and went back to the counter. Personnel from the dollar rental told me that i shouldnt worry about the scratches that were presented before my rental period. After few days i returned the car to the dollar representative in the parking lot of SDF airport, there was no problem at all while returning. However, after few days they filed a claim for those scratches. After that i send them those pictures but they didnt response anything about the pictures. I had to call several times and the send the pictures several times. Finally, at last they closed the claim saying that i was not responsible for those damages. Dont ever rent a car from this company, they will gave you lot of trouble.
I was skeptical about renting from Dollar after reading the reviews, but my rental couldnt have gone any smoother. I rented a mid-size which turned out to be a KIA Soul, a little bigger than a midsize, Id say. The car was clean and practically brand new. It drove great! Returning the car was even smoother than the check out. I experienced no hidden fees or trickery from the personnel at Dollar. I will absolutely be returning to the airport to rent from Dollar again.

I always have a great experience with Dollar Rental at SDF-Louisville. Im not sure what everyone else is tripping about! The cars are always clean, never an issue, and most of all fast pick-up and drop-off!
This is without a doubt the worst experience I have ever had renting a car. The lady, Gwen, who works at counter in Louisville, KY has the worst attitude of anyone I have ever dealt with and provides horrible customer service. I will walk to my destination before I rent from this company again. Stay away, far, far away from them. So bad that if I could give a negative rating I would.
Sales agent held us for 45 min trying to get us to upgrade/buy THEIR insurance even though I already had it through third party. VERY FRUSTRATING. Not the way I wanted to start my vacation. Also did not have the car we reserved available (unspecified wait time). Only way to get on the road in a reasonable amount of time was to pay (no free upgrade despite the inconvenience) 40% additional for a larger car which I did not want. Will not use Dollar ever again.

Dollar saved our vacation. Not only were we able to use our debit card for payment, they did not take the rental amount plus an extremely large deposit. We will definitely use them again if possible.
Thought renting a car would be a hassle, boy was I wrong. Young man named Joe worked with us and made the whole process so easy. Car was a dream to drive we had no problems at all. I would and will do this again.
The ONLY thing that was good was the actual car that I rented. Everything else was terrible, especially the customer service in person and on the phone. The rental cost way more than I was expecting after being bullied and forced to take on extra charges that I tried to decline. After returning the car, I looked at the receipt the next day and noticed that they had me down for driving 11,779 miles!!! That was 10,000 too many. I know that there was unlimited miles, but that was excessive!! When I called customer service about it, they said that it is unlimited miles and there is nothing to change. I didnt want to be I need some system that says that I cant rent because of excessive miles! I WILL NEVER RENT FROM DOLLAR AGAIN, and I suggest that you dont either.

Booked a car online for $109, then when I got to the airport I was told it would be $271 after fees, etc. I decided to cancel because there is no where in my confirmation that says anything about hidden fees like gas, insurance, etc. Ive rented from other rental companies and the price you book online is the price you pay when you get the keys. Furthermore, when I canceled, I got an alert about 4 hours later from my bank saying that Ive been charged $313 for the rental car. Just make sure if you book with them you check your bank account so they dont over charge you.
My wife rented a car and drove to Indiana. Weeks later they took money for toll/tickets for a car in Texas. Had to put a fraud claim in to our Credit Union and a claim into an obscure website it took research to find. Finally received an email it was a mistake and we should receive funds within 5 business days. Do the research and you find these mistakes happen often. Beware of false charges weeks after the rental and slow refunds.
While picking up the car did not go so well (the vehicle was not completely clean and I had to wait over an hour to be seen), returning it was simple and quick! I appreciate being charged exactly what I was told I was going to pay for it, even if the start was a bit bumpy. and yes, I would rent with them again :)
So i went on line to get a car the price was289 then when i get there they say715 dollar my first time trying to rent n never again will i go back just so u know not to be suprised
I was charged for insurance that I had said I did not want.What part of no is that difficult for the counter person to understand?Buyer beware - check every charge before you leave the counter. This may not be convenient at the airport when in a rush - but if you are going to work with this company you need to take the time to check the charges before you leave the counter.

We went to Destin, Fl and to get there, you cross a bridge with no toll booth, just cameras and they mail you the bill. So we used the bridge to get there and come back. The toll by mail was $2 each way. Dollar decides they want to charge us $2 for each toll and an extra service fee of $15 for each toll. So something out of our hands cost us $34 instead of $4. Ill be headed up there shortly after writing this because thats ridiculous

Avoid!!!! My friend & I were on a trip that did not require a rental car until towards the end. Upon arrival, I was caught up in a crisis back home and she used that time to look into a rental car talking to the people at the airport. The Dollar staff were working (or hustling) people walking in the aisles to rent their cars and my friend fell for it She was hooked when they told her their fees were $179 a week, and the quote for a full tank of gas along with their great salesmanship, plopped her credit card down and signed on the dotted line. When returning the car exactly a week and 6.5 hours later, she was charged $606 and some change. Thats when the contract came out and they explained the finer details of it....which should have been done at the time she rented the car, not after. The one star rating is for their hustling sales tactics. P.S. My friend expected to pay $299.95 when it was all said & done, add to that approximately $200 in hidden charges (county fee, concession fee, CFC, VLF....etc) and the hourly charge for every hour over the week she had the car and you have her eventual grand total!!!

This agency is the epitome of a scam, and bait and switch. From the start of being told my rate was one amount and then giving a receipt for another amount, and being told it would be fixed when I dropped it off and then getting a vehicle that had dog hair all through it and smears on the inside of the window, it was a disaster and I will never rent with Dollar again.

Dollar is one of two affordable, reliable go-tos for me at Louisville airport (SDF). They offer good customer service, one of the lowest prices available, and a non-smoking guarantee. My only complaint at this point is that, with the rearrangement in the SDF rental car parking lot, now Dollar and Thrifty are the farthest walk away from the terminal. So, if the difference between their price and a competitor is only a few dollars, I have to think twice about choosing Dollar knowing I will have a walk of another minute or two in the cold or heat.
Do NOT EVER rent from this company! Ever! This is the absolute worst experience car rental experience Ive ever had! Firstly, they have a ton of hidden fees! They dont tell you about any of them until you actually pay! They rush you off so you do not notice. I was 4 hours late upon returning my rental (family trip). Understandably I was charged for 4 hour rental on that vehicle! But I ended up having to pay $130 EXTRA for those 4 hours. On a Camry!!! Then when myself and my husband questioned the charges Mary became irritate. Telling us she couldnt help us. She couldnt tell us her last name. She couldnt tell us anything to identify her besides Mary (no name badge or anything on). She threatened to call police when I begin to record her after she became aggressive and refused to allow us to identify who she was in a complaint! She was mad at us for questioning her about OUR money!Listen PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE! I have never ever had an experience like this. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM! They are everything, every bad review said! I have a video as well of Mary threatening to call the police on me for asking her name as well!UPDATE:The worst customer service continues! After asking me to PM them and explain the situation I did! You know what they did? Apologize for her having an attitude and offered me $8.99 back for insurance 😂😂😂. HORRIBLE!!! I rented a car from these jerks on Saturday 09/30/2017. I usually go with other rental car companies at the Louisville Airport, but since I got a great rate, I decided to go with Dollar Rental Car. I rented from them a month ago and had minor issues. However, this time was different. When arriving at the counter, the LAME counter guy (Steven), said they only had ONE car type for a Full size. Then, when it was time to print the receipt, he had to go way up to the Hertz rental car counter to print it out because their system wasnt working. So I had to wait. After getting the keys, going to the parking lot and checking the car I was given, I noticed there were small dents, scratches, paint chip marks, dirty windows, and minor marks all around the car. When I asked the parking lot attendant (Fabbio), think thats his name, for Dollar Rental car to make notes, he said Oh, dont worry about it, its a used car, so they are not looking at the minor marks. The marks and scratches have to been at least ONE inch deep. By this time I was mad, and drove away. He was too lazy to even take down notes for the cars condition. Okay, so I went about my business. For some strange reason, I felt the need to check my credit card balance. To my surprise, the counter person put a 310.00 hold on my credit card. I was furious!!!! I called and he told me that Dollar Rental car always charge a 300.00 deposit for MAJOR credit cards. Now I know for a fact that is wrong, because a month ago, I was charged a 200.00 deposit. Now all of a sudden, 310.00 is on hold. The car only cost 41.00 to rent with taxes included!!! I hung up on him. All the other car places charge 200.00, from my past experiences a few months ago, but here you have Dollar holding 310.00. I will NEVER rent from them again. Today was my last rental from this company. Are you kidding me? 300.OO hold, just to rent a rental car, and the FACT that I have a MAJOR credit card and not a debit card? No where on the counter is there information stating the deposit amount. They just ASSUME all customers know. It should be MANDATORY that the counter person tell you the deposit amount BEFORE he/she charges your card, so you can decide if you want to proceed or find another rental car company thats cheaper. I am still in disbelief. 310.00 hold for a car thats dented, chipped, scratched up and DIRTY! What a joke. Ill go back to the other car companies even if they are a bit more expensive. Bye, bye Dollar Rental Car!

Ive rented a handful of time over the last few years and typically use a competitor so this is my first experience with Dollar. I only used it because of my 5% cashback from Discover Card. I must have had the same agent (middle aged white woman) everyone else with negative views is talking about, because I had a similar experience. I had booked online through the Discover rewards partner and thus probably directly with Dollar.Things didnt start well when we had to wait more than five minutes for someone to appear at the counter. The Thrifty rep acknowledged us and when the aforementioned agent did show up she apologized but things didnt get better.When I went to secure the car with my Discover Card, lo and behold, the reader wouldnt accept it. Ive had no issues with the card anywhere else and it clearly wasnt rejected (as the representative on the desk of the return day told me). He even tried to manually input it (she had said the first day that she couldnt)I had requested a mid sized or compact, as we were only going to be there two days and not driving very far, so price was our only concern. She then said, If thats not available, could I put you in something else or words to that effect. I didnt realize until later that she did the old bait and switch. She never said my vehicle was not available, just suggested it. Now I probably fell for the upgrade to a Nissan Rogue because I had originally wanted to drive it (test drive, but my wife just wanted the cheaper one). So I rolled over and said ok.Then she pushed for the collision waiver insurance. I typically get this if Im going to be there a few days, but since it was a two day rental with minimal driving we had already agreed to not to get it. I had opted out on the online contract. But she pushed and kept telling me this crap about how you pay for this and that until the vehicle is fixed. Nope, Ive got insurance but thanks. I told her no three times before I begrudgingly accepted it. She withdrew her first offer of just a discount on the SUV upgrade and waived the upgrade since I got the insurance.So now my $30 rental for two days suddenly became $91, all for a rental company I only went to in the first place for the $1.50 cash back offer for using my credit card. I accept responsibility for this, as ultimately it was my choice, but still dont appreciate her style of pushy saleswomanship. She was a good saleswoman but lousy rental agent.To top it off, she transposed the numbers on the space # (32 not 23), so I had to put my key in three Rogues which wouldnt start until I found our vehicle. All in all, the experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I probably wont try Dollar again but definitely not in Louisville.

Reserved car through Expedia, they put me in an upgrade without telling me and charged an additional $10 per day. The counter representative said it was only a deposit, it was not. The counter representative also kept trying to weave in other unwanted services saying things like do you like satellite radio? and avoiding to answer that there is satellite radio in all their cars and only offering up that they charge a daily fee if you use the satellite radio when I had to press her on the cost. What is worse, when I tried to contest the overcharges, the (national hotline) customer service tells you that you have to speak with the representatives at the actual counter where you rented the car. The problem is that they (literally in the 21st century) dont have a telephone to call to contest the charges. So Ive had to drop off the car after the counter is closed and go about my travels with no way to resolve, or even dispute, the charges. I rent a lot of vehicles and have never been so dissappointed in the deceptive tactics and incompetence of customer service. Lesson learned. Shame on these crooks.
Went last night to rent a car and out of cars, lady told me to try back in the morning maybe they have some. I showed her the confirmation code and she told me it did not matter. They dont save the car with the code.
Renting a car cant be that difficult.... but, these guys are definitely trying to make it that way! Waited in line at airport checkout for almost 45 minutes to pick up rental car at SDF (Louisville). When I finally got to the counter, the agent asked for my reservation name and confirmed the car category (midsize) and the reservation. She then looked at her watch and said, Im off the clock now, sorry but someone else will have to help you. She pointed me over to the Thrifty counter where there was also a line forming.. then she turned around and walked away! Ive never seen anything like it! Returning the car was almost as difficult, as it took two agents nearly 20 minutes to scan and check me out when returning.
The womanat the counter is dreadful.... old tell you her name, but she REFUSED to give it to me.... went with a different company
Horrible experience, shady and duplicitous business practices and lack of accountability all around, Never again, avoid at all costs!I would like to add that it wasnt the Louisville location that I had the issue with, rather their website and customer service representatives.

I rented specifically a Ford Expedition. When I arrived, they didnt have ANY large SUVs and we had to drive a van. Vans are more narrow and less comfortable but we had to make it work.
Everything went as expected. Great service!
