Made reservations, went to pick up, didnt have what was offered when I paid. I paid for an elite suv, they gave a compact suv. And still charged me the same price!!!!
I received wrong invoice, over charged by $66.75. For one day, gas is returned as full, they try to charge $145, including a gas service charge of $66.75, cant understand.
Easy to rent car, easy to drop off. Car was nice and for the most part, clean.
I stood in line for 2.5 hours to get the rental car, no one helped me find it and it took 1 hour to find the car because a nice stranger stopped to help me. I was told all the elevators were broken so I packed 2 suitcases, a carseat, 2 backpacks and a 4 year old up and down stairs looking for the car! Worst experience ever. I will NEVER rent or suggest renting from this place!

Dont remember the ladys name at the counter in Louisville airport but she was so nice and pleasant. It was a short, professional, but very enjoyable experience renting the car. The turn in in Nashville was not so the person I dealt with was not very cordial she just told me to make sure I got everything out of the car and would an email receipt be good. No thank you or anything. That is the reason I didnt give it a 10. But overall a great experience. This was my 1st time renting from Payless, usually use Enterprise but they were out of cars and more expensive. I was shocked to see going through Travelocity I found Payless had a car available when I needed it and priced a lot lower than what Other companies were charging for the same standard vehicle. This was the day before the Easter weekend. Enterprise has lost me as a customer. I WILL BE RENTING FROM PAYLESS for my future car rental needs. Thank you for a pleasant experience. Worst customer service ever!!!! Trying to turn a car and my invoice isn’t closed as of yet. Do not rent from this company!!!! I’ve been trying to contact someone at the local SDF airport and no one answers the phone!!!
I would give them 0 stars if possible. The customer service is terrible. I am still waiting for my Gas service option charge to be refunded (which I am having to provide a receipt for!) When I returned the car, they gave me the return ticket that states the gas tank was returned full, yet I still have to provide proof that I purchased gas to fill the tank. Unbelievable.
I would give less than 1 star if I could. The employees admit to leaving the phone at the airport on do not disturb. I had to interrupt my 19th anniversary vacation, first to exchange cars because the first one was full of trash and covered in dead bugs. I had to go back to the airport just to extend my rental for 3 days! The Payless help line could not do it, they told me I would have to travel back to the airport to extend. This is when the extremely rude woman working there admitted the phones are kept on do not disturb. I was not happy at all, but did not raise my voice or cuss. After she (hopefully) extended my rental, she called me an a**hole! Stay away folks, this is very bad business. For a dollar more a day I can rent from someone else, and I will. Well see if the corporate office cares. If they do, she will be fired.
The lady behind the counter had an overbearing attitude of “I don’t want to be here, and you’re inconveniencing me with your business”. She wouldn’t even look me in the eye and only spoke to me in short statements. I WILL NOT be doing business with Payless again. EDIT: I now have reason to believe the same lady stole my credit card information and used it to make fraudulent purchases.

I’ve called them 5 times and no one has picked up the phone. I rented one of their cars and there was a $100 rental fee attached to the 1 week stay. Which took me is insane.
I’ve used this facility now on multiple business trips and they (especially the agent named Joey) always have taken the time to help with any special requests. Great service, price and vehicles - I will continue to use them.
Horrible experience. Car had a strong odor of smoke. They said they gave me a discount when I returned it, but I never got it despite many attempts via phone and online. Not a single person I contacted, including Terrance at the Executive Desk, attempted to gain even a rudimentary understanding of my issue, and they took precisely zero actions to resolve it. Blamed it on American Express without any confirmation or evidence that a credit was initiated (because it obviously wasnt).
I rented a Ford Explorer for the room, w we wanted our child to have room to bring a friend. Payless gave us a Dodge Journey which because it had a third row was considered comparable to an Explorer. You cannot even fit one suitcase behind the seat of a Dodge Journey, but because in Payless description it says one large bag and two small bags will fit just like an Explorer, not only is that deceptive, its wrong.For my next trip if I have to choose between a bicycle or Payless Ill be getting plenty of cardio. This car single handedly ruined a family vacation. Also if Im using Travelocity again Ill make sure to notice the name of the company not just the type of car.
All I wanted to do was extend my car rental one day. Called the W. Washington location & the rep said that an error message came up & she referred me to Reservations. I called Reservations & spoke with Sergio, who referred me back to the location. After going back & forth with him about his options making no sense & are not accommodating to a paying customer, he commented that the location probably doesn’t have enough cars, so they may need that car back, but I can end my contract & start a new one 🤔 Ok so you want to hold another $200 of my money instead of allowing me to just pay for the extra day for the rental?!?! Insane!!!! Also, what am I, a paid customer, supposed to do if I complete my contract & then I’m told that they have no cars to rent, although I JUST RETURNED ONE! Remember, I’m not allowed to extend my rental because the lot doesn’t have enough cars & there’s probably a wait list. I will never rent from this company again & every referral that I’ve given to them will definitely be notified of the treatment that I received today.

StarThe only reason Im giving them one star is because thats the least amount I can give them. I would give them negative stars, if possible. They refused to rent a car to me. The agent said my card didnt go through. But he was still charged me a deposit, even though I was not given a car. So, if youre following, they charged a deposit for no reason at all. I had to scramble last minute to rent another car, which ended up being cheaper than what they would have charged me. Customer service agents are rude and not knowledgeable. They act as though its the most normal thing in the world to hold on to someones funds, even though the person did not rent a car with them. Save yourself the headache and dont rent with them. Im pretty sure thats not legal. Horrible company.
Rent a car on line, leaving the next morning at 6am. go to airport because I have to, stand in line for 20 min. have a copy of rental in hand, the teller says, I am sorry, we dont use debit card. here is my confirmation for the rental, where does that say that, all he kept saying was I have no control over that. so now where does that leave me, he says I guess going outside the airport, where would you like me to go at this hour, all is closed, he says I have no control over that. well payless let me tell you one thing, It will be a cold day in hell before I rent from you and I will bash your name to everyone I know. Thanks for not printing your policy on line, and screwing up my plans. if I could give payless a negative STAR I would. had to put one star in order to post. that makes a false review. I would not give a star to this company.
Scam. They promote their cars at $10 a day. I made a reservation for Thurs to Mon. They tacked on $6 a day for taxes. No problem. The day I get ready to get the vehicle they tell me the price goes from $62.66 to $179.80 and a security deposit of $350.00. So their $10 a day deal at the desk comes to 529.80. Their should be a law that keeps these companies from baiting customers. Now I have to break the news to my family that I wont be coming due to a dishonest rental company.

Worst Car rental company ever. Wish there was something less than a 1 star.They cheated me by taking the money but never gave me the car that I was supposed to get.I had booked a car for 2 days with these guys (7/2 to 7/4) bearing confirmation number 02094631US0. I went to the airport location of theirs to pick up my car at 7 AM in the morning and to my surprise I was told by the adjacent rental company no one at the payless counter would be coming for work. I called the main customer care to find out whats happening and they had no idea about this and said they had escalated to the manager. (LOL, when there is no employee why would there be a manager)I waited at their location for an hour expecting someone would turn up but no one came. I had to then rent another car at triple the rate.Later after 3 days I followed up with them again and they said that they have opened a case (ref# 586190) to investigate the complaint and said that I should be hearing back in at the most 72 hours.I waited for 7 days and did not receive any update from them about my refund. Well, who would pay for a rental when the car was not rented at all, right !!!Today when I called their customer care again to find out about the case, the lady over the phone said that I would not be getting any reimbursement and said that I should check the status of the case online and was not ready to give any explanation why I am being denied my reimbursement.I have read other reviews here. At least people were lucky enough to get the car even though their experience was not good. I was not so lucky I guess.Never again I am going back there
They took 10 to 15 business days to release the 200$ hold.. I have to called the company 1-800 number several times, they just dont care. This is Payless policy they said. While enterprise rent a car take 2 business days.. also I been looking for the Payless associate for 15 minutes in the airport lot.. he didnt care and he charged me for one more hour when he saw me I was driving around completely lost! As you can see I been in 22 airports around the world, I will never rent with this company again!
I went to pick up my reserved car at Payless last week. I waited over an hour for the staffer to overcome a computer problem to get me the car I reserved, but he could not. I offered to pay by cash, check, or credit card, but he said he could only accept payment through the non-functioning computer system. Eventually, we decided that hed never be able to figure out the system, but by then, it was well after midnight and most of their competitors had already closed or were out of cars. The only remaining car was notably more expensive.

Second time I tried to rent a car with a resveration and they did not have the vehicle I wanted they are always out of cars and very long lines. I would not suggest anyone rent from them they are a waste of time!!!
AVOID THESE CRIMINALS AT ALL COSTS!!! I got a noon reservation online for a $124 rental and went to the Payless Rental Car desk at SDF airport to pick up my car. I was twelve minutes early. I told the guy behind the counter I was there for a noon pickup. He said Then why dont you come back at Noon! as rudely as he possibly could. When we came back 12 minutes later, I handed him the printout of my reservation. It suddenly jumped from $124 to over $172 with the addition of their mandatory roadside assistance coverage. I cancelled and walked away. These are the most unscrupulous people I have dealt with in a long time. They figure they have you over a barrel at the airport. The crooks can all drown in their barrel before I knuckle under to their dirty tactics! I had just rented a car from Enterprise the week before and had a perfect experience. I wont stray again!
I have never been treated as rudely as I was by the Payless counter agent in the Salt Lake city airport. Ultimately they did not honor my reservation and did not care that they were stranding me thousands of miles from home. Letters to their customer service desk only got me the most ridiculous of form letter answers. I will NEVER use them again and suggeat you dont either.
Absolutely horrible. First they open at 7 according to everyone else who works around them and the internet. Well they dont they show up when ever and its your fault. Second when I went to get the vehicle I had to wait 30 minutes for them to get ready to see me and I was at the counter. Ps its 730 and he just showed up. 33rd the mileage on the vehicle was way off. It said 2305 out but 12805 return I had the car two weeks filled it with 10.00 dollars in gas and drive from the airport to fort Knox and back not 10000+ mileage and they said oh well that aint right really what kind of operation does this?
This is the worst car service EVER! I rented a car for July 2nd, 2016 for 2 days. No one ever showed up for work that day. The other rental companies said they hardly ever show up for work. DO NOT RENT cars from this company. Because then you have to rent a car from another company and pay at least twice the amount. Extremely POOR service. If there were negative rating numbers that is what this company would deserve.

Reserved a car for brothers wedding, I figured I would get a standard edition for the price, so no surprise there, but the dependability of the car was in question with leaks in both rear tires and an oil change being 500 miles overdue, it was a hard ride to say the least, and the rude people behind the counter should be replaced with interactive computer terminals like they have in the airports in major cities...
The power outlet in the car I rented had a broken cigarette lighter so I couldnt charge my phone or plug in the GPS. They also tacked on a $4.99/day fee for roadside assistance even though I didnt ask for it. I found out that all four tires were low on air when I rented the car so I had to take the time to stop and fill them after I left.
Worst car rental company ever!!!Dont rent from them you will REGRET it. I received a car that smelled like an ashtray and it had a slow leak. I finally exchanged it after one week, and the 2nd car had electrical problems. When I turned in the car, they couldnt provide me a receipt because their printer was broke. I asked for my total and found out they overbilled me. They said they would email me my receipt but never did. PAYLESS should NOT be in business.
I will NEVER use this car rental again! Do not rent from them. They take advantage of traveling customers by claiming damage when there isnt any. Their employees are unprofessional too. I only gave them one star because there is no option for no stars.
Poor service and the price agreed upon is not what you are charged. I was charged $100 over what was agreed upon. When I went to discuss it with the company, they disregarded my questions and request to be charged correctly. I would glady pay more to avoid renting from them again.
Terrible customer service. Had a flat, there was no spare. Spent all day on the side of the road trying to get someone from roadside assistance to get us. I guess you get what you pay for...whole day ruined
