I lived here 20+ years ago.....and came back for the no nonsense, cleanliness, no bugs and havent had any problems...I have nothing bad to say about our experience living here. In addition, there is a new maintenance employee, Tony in the Silver stream family. He is new and one or his first jobs to complete was for us. He was very knowledgeable, Thanks for a job well done. Great customer service as well.
Was visiting family that live here for a few days and gotta say their maintenance man is amazing! Tony came a few days ago and checked out a few things that were causing my family some issues and was wonderful! Didn’t mind my children asking non stop questions and was very pleasant to work! Definitely hard to find good service now a days but his service is top tier.
Ive been at Silver Stream for 5 months now. After 16 years of renting various apartments in three states and working at several, I have some insight into Silver Stream beyond these other reviews.[The Grounds] Silver Stream actually has a pretty great setup. Wide, well kept sidewalks, nice (if a little bare) pools, and a nice front-office. Generally, its well maintained other than what people go out of their way to break (such as a hole in the fence to slip out of near the exit). Id honestly rate the grounds a 9/10, particularly with some of the work theyve done in the past 2 months.[The Apartments] One thing youll see a lot when applying here is refurnished and upgraded. My apartment is one of these upgraded units, at a premium (though I had no choice in the matter). A new fridge, washer, dryer, stove, dishwasher, new light fixtures, faucets, fan, nest thermometer, etc. These additions give the apartment a little sparkle and a new feeling.Having said that, these apartments are QUITE old. Every closet is closed in with metal locker-style folding doors, the floors crack, creak, and whine when you walk on them (in this upstairs unit), and the cabinets are probably as old as I am. With this age comes some pretty big issues in terms of noise, insulation, and overall condition.Having lived in budget apartments before (and these are quite cheap considering what you get) I still believe these apartments to be pretty nice. Ive seen no sign of bugs of any kind, thankfully, though the pigeons and geese are a problems from a neighbor who feeds them.[The Staff] I get it. You sometimes have a problem and it doesnt get answered, it irritates you, and you lash out. But as someone who has NOT had any problems with the staff, they seem relatively nice. Theyre clearly overworked, underpaid, and trying to hold together these apartments with scotch tape and kind words sometimes, but the maintenance crew is top notch and helpful, the office managers have been quite kind and understanding, but things do fall through the cracks in terms of answering e-mails. Past that, I have no complaints.[THE NOISE] This has to be said. Had I known how noisy it would be in this apartment, I would not have moved here. I discussed the fact that I work from home before moving and was assured it was a quiet place with few constant irritations, and that was 100% false. The issue stems from poor insulation and sound dampening in the apartment itself. I can hear my neighbors speaking normally in their apartment through the wall and hear pigeons wing flaps over my television: its as though the apartment has no walls at all sometimes.Outside of the apartments control: very loud cars like to use Rochelle avenue and Jones as a drag strip after dark. Usually its not a concern, but the windows and patio door are so thin here, and there is so little good insulation, that it rattles the cups in my sink, sometimes as late as 2am.The lawncare here will, from 9am-11am or later, drive you crazy. The sound of hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, and other equipment will rattle the mirror in the bathroom non-stop for several hours every single morning but Sunday, which is the only day I get more than a few hours of sleep.Likewise, due to the buildings age, any time the heat or AC cuts on in the above/below unit, it will make your entire apartment rattle and hum like someone parked a car in your living room.Noise has been my only complaint, but its bad enough that I may have to move for the 4th time in 2 years when this lease is up. Please do not underestimate how bad the noise is if you work from home. It WILL be a problem for anyone in a creative field. I have warned you.[Overall] Apartments that use good amenities to cover age and nice prices to fill the buildings. Clean and well-kept, Silver Stream has a lot to offer IF the nearly -constant- noise does not bother you. Perfect for people who work long hours away from home and enjoy a respectable place to mingle with friends or a partner on the weekend.
I would give the move a 5/10. First, our scheduled move in date got pushed to a further date because they said the apartment wouldn’t be ready and they were dealing with the previous renter. We didn’t mind that, except when it came to move-in day there were a lot of things wrong with the apartment. Walking in the first thing we saw was that the front door was dragging, and had to be lifted up slightly to properly close it and lock it. We noticed it was missing screws in the top hinge. We could tell it had been that way for a while because the rubber strip at the bottom of door frame was worn down from the door dragging. Next we see the kitchen light fixture broken and removed from the ceiling. The door for the laundry room was off the track and removed, and inside of the laundry room the frame for the crawl space was coming off of the ceiling. The handle on the freezer was coming off, no aerator on the kitchen sink spout, and a small piece on the oven handle was missing exposing a sharp edge. The sliding screen door on the patio was also off of the track. Next we go into the bathroom where the toilet is not attached to the wall so it felt like we were going to fall forward when sitting down. The mixet handle in the shower was not attached properly and would just spin. First we noticed there was no water in the bathroom but it was only because the water was turned off in there, no big deal. Going into the bedroom we see that the cover for the blinds is off. There was grease or some sort of food residue from the previous renter on the kitchen ceiling. The carpets looked clean, but not new, the baseboards had a lot of stuck on dirt. The drip pans on the stove top had old grease in them as if they weren’t replaced or cleaned. The vents were full of dust and black tracks across the ceiling. The popcorn ceilings look as though they are holding a lot of dust, and haven’t been painted. The microwave had remnants of food residue. Under the sink looks as though there was a leak, as the wood is heavily warped and the smell is awful. The filter in the dish washer was disgusting and didn’t look like it was ever cleaned. There was a layer of dust on the stove vent. In the hot water tank/storage closet on the patio we noticed the ceiling was warped as though there was a leak in the past. The floor in the bathroom seems to be on and incline, so standing in the shower makes the loudest pops and creaks as though the tub is not flush with the floor. We were afraid to make any little step. There is a coax cable port in the bedroom and one in the living room. The one in the bedroom didn’t work in connecting our modem to the Internet but the one in the living room did.The day of move in Tony, a maintenance man, was there to help with many of the issues the apartment had. He fixed the screen door, replaced the kitchen light fixture, the mixet handle, the cover on the blinds, the door for the laundry room, and the handle on the freezer. He also replaced the missing aerator on the kitchen sink, and checked for the missing piece for the oven handle. He was very prompt and down to earth, and even cleaned the grease off the kitchen ceiling and gave us a few new rags.Come the following Saturday, another maintenance man, Mario, fixed our front door, and wobbly toilet. He also ran some cleaner through the kitchen sink. He was quick and attentive. He noted that the creaking in the shower would need to be inspected from their outsourced contractor, and left it open in our work order. With all that being said, it’s a huge disappointment that we are required to pay both a $300 security deposit and a $150 admin fee, and our apartment that was “move in ready” was definitely not ready by any means. Even after having our move in date pushed up!
Not recommending to rent this apartment, the application fee is 45$ but one of the agent made me to pay 90$ For having my mom to live with me even though she is not the applicant, they only need money to collect and deny you without explaining enough why they reject you, when I ask the agent to give me the corporate office number she told me the only way to contact them is through her, she doesn’t cooperate.
Update: Management allows staff to comment on wanting to harm and threaten residents. The property manager is actively trying cover it up with dishonesty despite the assistant manager admitting to the staff i have been reporting having various behavioral issues. This has been on going for months. I may need a restraining order against maintence and the property management allowed harassment that has been documented for months. Terrible place to live. Way too many problems since day 1. I DO NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE. I now have to get legal help. They have also been reported to HUD as well.
Reported the property managers to the state for illegal activity. The community has already previously been reported.
The new management is doing something I don’t even think is legal.
I am working for another business that does work for this community. The office staff I have found to be very articulate and knowledgeable. I spoke with Priscilla on an after hours emergency and she actually helped me! They care about their tenants health and comfort. Looks like a nice place to live.
I called the office of this apartments, talked to Priscilla, very nice girl and she put the work order right away, and in wihin 48 hrs they showed up.David Robinson was the maintainance guy, which was attempt and courteous.called for garbage disposal
Thought about renting here but based on the fact that they are not applying the standards to ensure a tenant get refunded their money. A cleaning fee has nothing to do with a rental and the fact that you could not see the lease is not very good for me. Hopefully i get a better experience and i do i will write a better review. Refunds are to cover damages not cleaning fees. Cleaning fees are the rental property abd our the leasing company to prepare to have it move in ready including all damages that are within normal wear and tear.
Very nice, lived here 4 years. Just transferred from 1 bedroom to 2 bedroom both very nice. Quite set back apartments. Well taken care of grounds, very nice staff, and in a convenient location to the strip.
I would give this place 0 stars if I could... They will move you into a bug infested unit just so they can see that money. Please do NOT make the same mistake I did by moving here. They don’t care!!! I’m a very happy person and showed them nothing but respect. What was very frustrating is when they made it seem like I was crazy and had no clue what I was talking about. They will laugh about any situation bring to them and what you may be going through and act like it’s not really their problem. After suffering multiple bug bites we had to leave WITHIN THE WEEK we had moved in. They will also say that you were the ones that brought in the bugs, send their bug “specialists” and say there is no infestation, it only could’ve been you. It’s a very big loss to come here folks, I’ve lost my couches, beds, clothes, and other furniture. All of which was practically new, and when their specialists came to check our furniture, that exterminator could already tell our furniture was in great shape and he would keep it himself if he was us... Just because the Manager/Coordinator: Debbie says she can flip an apartment unit in less than 5 days...(Thanks for making sure it was safe for me to move in...). So since we didn’t have insurance, no one could get the medical attention for the BEDBUG bites. Can’t pursue any case against this complex, but like any other place they are trying to drain our money for breaking the lease. UNINHABITABLE is what this place showed me in unit 208 Building 4. When you’re looking for a place to live people, please take your time.
I applied for the unit, got approved, and went in to sign the rental agreement. They gave me a move-in date, took a $300 deposit to hold the apartment, and told me everything was good to go for July 18 move-in. At this meeting, I asked the leasing manager, Francine, some questions regarding the security deposit and what steps to take with documenting during the move-in process. Francine would not answer my questions. She became extremely agitated. She said that they take a standard $300 cleaning fee out of everyones deposit in order to turn the apartment to make it ready for the next tenant. I was confused by this answer because I thought security deposits were supposed to be used for damage caused by the tenant. So if their standard practice is to use all tenants security deposit to turn the apartment, then no tenant would be able to get their deposit refunded, even if the tenant did no damage and returned a clean apartment. When I asked about this, Francine told me that you are not a typical tenant. How we treat our typical tenants would not apply to you. I didnt know what that meant. She said the cleaning standards are in the lease. When I asked to see a copy of the lease she refused to give it to me, saying that all their leases are unique, they dont use a template lease, and leases will only be released to tenants five days prior to move-in. None of that made any sense and sounded very unlikely to be true.Over two weeks go by and Im getting ready for my move. Francine calls me on July 3 to tell me that they will not be renting to me because I was unreasonable in asking questions regarding the deposit. They refuse to refund me my $45 application fee even though I was approved for the unit and signed a rental agreement that I relied on to my detriment.I would take caution before dealing with this complex. You will probably have a difficult time getting any deposit back and may be subject to the whims of the leasing office.
Most resident dont like.
5 stars because it has really nice location. Here is close to China Town and townsquare. The agents are friendly and did a lot of help. In this year, I can see they are taking efforts to upgrade the community such as paving the road and clean the pool. I do recommend this place to my friends.
Walked into the office to look at an apartment, was asked to sit for a moment, no problem. Another tent ant walked in and with seconds the office lady began being extremely rude to a gentleman asking questions about renewing his lease, taking it to a personal place and making comments about the gentleman’s wife. Me and my significant other walked out.
DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!! I lived here for about 8 months now and I have no complaints!! I LOVE IT HERE! It’s a great area, VERY QUIET, lots of cool landscaping with THREE POOLS, and MY 2BD APARTMENT IS PERFECT/BEAUTIFUL for me and my husband & uncle!!! We have upgraded appliances and fresh painted rooms!! WE LOVE IT HERE!! There’s the school behind us, a library, Smith’s down the road & a park nearby. It’s wonderful ! The staff at the office are great and always helpful and the maintenance guys are always on my work orders!!! MY FAVORITE THING IS THAT I LOVE HOW THE APARTMENTS IS UNIQUE AND NOT LEVELED TO THE MAIN ROAD ON ROCHELLE. It’s what made us move here too. GREAT PLACE TO LIVE FOR CHEAP!! Thank you silverstream!! (:
I will give these apartments zero stars if possible. They look nice from a far or if your just passing by, but in reality there horrible. My floors are weak, I hear squeaks Everytime I walk around my home. If my drain gets clogged i call the maintenance, which takes almost a whole day to come and fix the problem.
Been here for about more than a year and roaches started to get in on the second year of living here. Tried cockroach spray, would only work for a temporary time. I had RASHES because of bed bugs. It sucks BLOOD. Otherwise that, staff is very nice. Except that one time I had to help my grandpa work out, they didnt let me in. I had to read stupid magazines about Taylor Swift and watch my grandpa. Did I mention that stupid kids here are show offs??
Its gives me a stare feeling sometimes but its fine
This place is completely hell the paratamentos are very close together and everything bothers the neighbor they tell you that they have 3 swimming pools and when they are not full of ducks and other animals they are full of dirt and without maintenance on the other hand the apartments are very old and contanstely there to repair something in addition to many cockroaches and bug and it is always a delay for everything and to top it off when you leave they do everything possible not to return the rent deposit without having any reason in conclusion it is not recommended to live my opinion is that you look for another place
