The staff are friendly and the pool is very deep! Their rules state: Ages 13+ may join as individuals, however, youth 13–17 must have a parent or legal guardian sign the membership agreement and waiver. However, ive noticed a lot of unsupervised children and teenagers, especially on the basketball courts.
Even though its an older building, there are many updates. Keep an eye out for swim times. Even though the pool and hot tub area is open, there are days and times its unavailable.
Ive been a long time member. Im very disappointed that the hot tub is closed and usage of the pool is restricted.
Great place. Great staff.
Love my classes at the Y. So happy to be back!
Nice place like home
Good experience, plenty of machines and equipment, I just wish they were open a little bit later like 8 or 9 at least.
Great staff, they do their best every time Im there.I cannot be happier with the Oak Park Y and all they do to run a great facility!!
Its a nice place with friendly staff
I was able to workout here and participate in the programs for years. Then when I was old enough I ended up volunteering there. The staff is wonderful and always upbeat. The place is overall just clean and well organized.
Outstanding clean and safe! 👍
Clean and safe. Very good protocols.
Love the Oak Park YMCA ~ been a member since the 90s. Impressed with all the improvements. Great place for a healthy workout and relaxing spa and sauna.
Could be cleaner. Especially the changing rooms. But the staff are all friendly and helpful. The lifeguards are strict but people have to understand that its part of their job. You could literally die in or around the pool. So make sure to follow the rules and listen to the life guards.
Great place but dont like how the structure of the fitness and weights are structured. Weight room could have more updated equipment or fix them.
A must visit. its mixed with white and colored people. Thats important in 2020.
Facility is outdated but the community is where it’s at 😁
Really nice set up and friendly staff. Indoor and outdoor pools, hot tub, stream room/sauna available. Full court basketball, volleyball, racquetball courts also available. Plenty of weights to work with, and exercise equipment. Child care at certain times, for a fee. Lots of free programs available for members as well.
Great
Excellent place! Ive been a member for years. Friendly people, good equipment, and building/facilitys well maintained. Try the pool. Whether its for maintain your bod or loosing weight this is the place! Just wish I didnt like Doritos so much!!
Wish they had a track, ice bath, some more advanced & versatile resistance machines, smoother parking lot, showers with curtains for a little more privacy. Just some suggestions. I also wish they were open 24 hrs or later lol. A lot of the members and staff have been awesome and kind by the way tho 🙂🧘♂️💪🕺🏻🏊
Great YMCA location! The workout room is in need of an update, but all of their equipment is in good working order, was clean, and the weight room was decently stocked with a cable machine and a lot of the fundamentals. I will note however, there was only one bench for bench press, most other YMCAs I have been to have at least two or three.
I love swimming in their pool! They have just about every machine that you could ever want.
Clean place. Friendly staff. Decent size. Parking usually isnt a problem and its usually not a crowded gym. I was hesitant to give it a try because of the area its in however, it really is a nice ymca, the building seems a bit older but the atmosphere is pleasant.
Care was great until 2 months ago.,staff started disappearing, attendance started to slip, new director and assistant started changing how much and when payments were due. Then out of the blue, parents were told facility is shutting down and parents have 24 hour notice. While I saw they were having issues, we were given promises that things were getting better. Now parents are scrambling to find care or lose thier jobs because management couldnt communicate with the parents.
Great staff, hot tub and work out stations. Senior programs excellent. John
Their gym is fine enough, but strongly strongly advise against enrolling children in their child care center. Leadership all the way up seems to be pretty flawed at managing a daycare. In October 2018, the child care center abruptly closed, giving their families and staff one day notice. Families were left with no care and staff were left with no jobs. Im still actively working to get them to refund money they owe me for overcharging for the care after their closure, 2.5 months later. I know their plans are to reopen soon in 2019, but I would not trust my child in their care again, no matter how good their teachers are. The leadership just cant get its act together.
Some kid went threw my purse, that was in a locker, took my wallet, stole the $107 I had left then gave my wallet to the front desk reporting it lost and found ... Not a single person recommend putting a lock on the locker until after I said money was stolen. She asked me where I last saw it and I said in my purse in that locker then she said we do recommend putting locks on the lockers, we do actually have signs everywhere telling you so why am I going to stop to look at signs when I have kids that need controlling? Why wouldnt you have this conversation with at the front desk? I made an incident report and a police report because he left his name and its over $100 meaning it is a felony.... Ive been to other ones and had no problem at all so I just assumed this one would be the same. I guess not and I will not be going back.. the pool wasnt even all that great either to be totally honest, the entire place was way too cold too..
As soon as i walked in the door the staff were friendly and welcoming. Now that I am a member, they welcome me by name and go out of their way to assist me if I need help. Great place to get healthy and make friends.
I just started working out here and the staff is amazing and super friendly! The only complaint that I have is that the men’s locker room provides more amenities than the women’s. Men’s locker room has a sauna, steam room, fan, and a digital scale. The women’s locker room only has a sauna and an old out dated manual scale that goes 3 pounds either way so it’s hard to track your weight loss/gain. For instance I can weigh myself and it will stay leveled out if I take away or add 3 pounds. It is very difficult to breathe in the women’s locker room because there are no fans and all the humidity from the pool and showers makes me feel like I’m suffocating after working out. If this was my gym, I’d make sure that the amenities are the same in the male and female locker rooms. Everyone pays to be at your establishment, therefore everybody should be able to have equal amenities. If not, maybe the female members should pay less for their memberships.
Clean place with friendly staff. The other members are so cheerful and cordial, it draws me in to go to the gym.
I love going,it’s clean and employees are always nice.
I have been going to Oak park YMCA for more than 30yrs.Staff is very friendly and always willing to have conversation. The equipment is always up to date and clean. The pool and hot tub is very clean and taken care of very well.
Its a great place for kids. CyAnna loves swimming their. Instructors are great.
VERY FAMILY FRIENDLY GYM CENTER FOR PEOPLE OF ALL AGES...THEY HAVE GROUP CLASSES..VARIETY OF THEM...WEIGHTS, CARDIO SECTIONS AND A NICE POOL WITH SAUNAS IN THE LOCKER ROOMS..THEY ALSO HAVE PUSH BALL COURTS...WHERE YOU KEEP HITTING A BALL AGAINST A WALL ..A DAY CARE CENTER N SUMMER CAMPS AS WELL..WE USED TO GO THTE SUMMER CAMPS A LOT AS A KID..THEY ALSO HAVE DIFFT WATER AEROBICS CLASSES & SWIMMING CLASSES ALOS..N DIFFT FREE SWIMMING HOURSSS!!!! DECENTLY PRICED..HIGHLY RECOMMEDN!!!!
Great place to go to lose some of those extra pounds. Has a good variety a workout programs
Enjoy my workout and they have childcare available.
We love the staff and water aerobics. However no money is ever spent on upgrading the lockers, most of which dont shut so you cant use a key. Weve complained several times. Everyone has.
AWESOME PLACE TO WORKOUT AND FRIENDLY STAFF
Love the staff, and the basketball court is perfect!
I was originally super impressed with the Oak Park YMCAs day care, but my feelings have recently changed. Over the past month or so, there was change in management that happened overnight without much notice. Additionally, the staff started to change and my wife and I were no longer familiar with who was caring for our child and this was reflected in his daily report. For example, there was inaccurate information regarding his meals which was very nerve-racking due to our sons food allergies.Yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon, the day care announced that as of Thursday afternoon, the day care would close until maybe early 2019 due to a staffing shortage. To me, this feels very fishy. Ive always supported the YMCA and its work, but Im feeling very differently now. Not only are the parents of children who attended the day care struggling to find another childcare options at very short notice, but the staff is also out of work. All I can say is that I am hurt and disappointed.
Nice place they need to get some control over the basketball courts
This is a great place. I was away this summer using other YMCAs!! None could compare to Oak Park.
This place is awesome! Very friendly, and helpful and thoughtful. Great place to be.
Very helpful staff, and they have everything there for my family to do, from swimming to basketball, and tons of things in between.
Cant say enough about their child care! Such high quality teachers!
Great staff, plenty to do especially with family. Large pool area! Hot tub and sauna in each locker rooms.
Little dated but has an updated aerobic work out area. On the downside. They removed some racquetball courts to make room for the aerobic arra.
No money is spent fixing broken lockers and the pool water is over 10° colder than people with arthritis can stand.
Location is everything and this one happens to be close to home. They have many amenities and are constantly improving.
Nice family gym! needs some updates but has been kept well.
The cardio equipment is absolutely disgusting. Everything makes awful noises, it’s dirty, and nothing works right. How can you charge those prices for that equipment!? If you’re going for the pool, just go to Holt High School instead.
Attempted to get financial help and was refused cause I couldnt pay more than 20 bucks a month.
Super friendly staff, excellent facilities and very well maintained. Its a bargain!
Welcoming front membership desk. Facility could be cleaner, like when Aaron was there.
This place is great! And the people and staff are amazing!
Anyone have any idea when theyll open again ????
Good staff and best place for workout.
Wanted to ride a spin bike, but the room was locked.
Nice employees. Pricey for non profit.
Enjoyed the swim & joined.
