The staff friendly, helpful and polite it is always clean the pool is really nice and they have a kiddie pool as well offer a lot of different fitness classes from beginner to advanced the price for membership is very good compared to some other facilities good location and offer many activities for the kids as well
Nice and clean and quiet. Im not a fan of their hours of operation though. Thanks!
Staff is courteous, attentive and professional. Very inviting atmosphere. The facility is very clean and equipment is accessible.
Very clean and well kept. Multiple basketball courts! Minus one star because skating rink is out of commission (being used for equipment)
I’ve been a member here for years and I really like this facility. Even now with Covid, I can enjoy exercising here. I mainly use the spin bikes and I love that they are in the skating arena spaced apart. They’ve taken the virus seriously here and I feel very safe coming here to exercise. The spin classes that I’ve taken have been fun yet challenging and I’m hoping they’ll open up some more classes soon.
My husband and I just purchased memberships over the weekend for us and our two children. Every bit of information the person told us was wrong. Two times in a row we all got dressed to swim and were turned away. Vary disappointing for children and adults that work all day and want to swim after work. Very misleading and vary u pleased with our experience.
Ok but they closed off an entire area just to have no one in it after I bought my membership and thats the only area with a speedbag. They said it was for kids but none of the equipment on that side is stuff a kid could use
Ok website. I wish membership was affordable.
Love their homeschool swim and gym program. My son took it for several years. He faced his fears, learned to swim and climb the rock wall. Instructors were awesome with the kids and kept them busy for 2 hours! Great exercise and parents could talk to each other or read while they waited. I got to know several homeschool moms that I didn’t already know or was able to get work done.
Great amenities and helpful staff.
Dingy and run down the place looks like it needs a good scrubbing. Staff is super helpful
1st day back since Covid-19 shutdown. Slightly different equipment layout in gym area but adequate spacing. Felt safe enough to use any equipment that I wanted. Plenty of sanitizer and light to medium crowd. Few lockers available and no shower use still but lap pool available by reservation.
Great place to workout. I swim, always clean, friendly staff, 5 or 6 lap lanes. They have an indoor track but only for walking at this point.
I absolutely love the YMCA the place where you can get lost and not get in trouble for it!
You have to schedule to use the pool because of COVID. I was there over an hour and not one person was in the pool, yet I was told that it is booked almost the entire month! No locker rooms, no drinking fountains, no childrens area. I used to love the YMCA, but now, like everything else, COVID has ruined that for me too. Probably wont continue my membership and I literally just signed back up. Its sad really, because its not a fun place anymore!
Very comfortable atmosphere
My son enjoyed himself
Not too crowded
Great YMCA! Huge with tons of activities available like basketball, volleyball, rock wall climbing, swimming, roller skating, classes, kids camp and of course tons of exercise options! Always lots of cardio and weight machines open and Ive gone anywhere from 9am to 6pm. The pool is amazing and perfect for families! There is a zero entry splash pool seperate from the lane pool. Even a water slide! Tot watch is great and really helpful for stay at home moms like me. The staff is helpful and listens. We plan on being a members for a long time!
$140. A month for a family of 4? Pretty pricey.
Good place to work out. Decent facilities. It is usually pretty clean. It can be busy at times depending on when you go.
Nice place
Love this gym. Especially great for young kidsHad my daughters first birthday here and it went great. They dont micro manage here or count the guests or watch the clock. They let us come in and go to the pool without any hassle. My guests seemed to enjoy themselves and it really was a lot of fun. The kiddie pool is amazing for little children even at 1 years old.
Nice facility but got a membership mostly so I could teach my child to swim and he could get physical activity swimming. Spent 2 hours here today and got to swim only 5 minutes because they booked the whole pool for special events. First two lanes reserved for swim lessons and then booked Lanes 3-5 for the senior citizen water aerobics. And its not even the first time this has happened once waited 45 minutes to get a lane only to be kicked out 15 minutes later when someone who just got there wanted to swim laps. I can easily think of a better way to spend $70 a month
By far, the busiest YMCA in Lansing. That comes with its own pros and cons....heavily used equipment and often crowded.....but great energy and the excellent staff make up for it in my experience. Also the best tot watch Ive seen and with three young kids thats a big deal.
Best YMCA staff in Lansing great place for families daycare free for members. Pool, rollerskating, rockcliming wall, ga ga ball enclosure, newer workout machines, basketball court, OPEN GYM IS THE BEST! NO DRAMA. My kids are comfortable here because there is no name calling cursing disrespectful music or anything like that allowed do it and they kick your butt out and terminate your membership.😀😀😀😀😀😀😀
Nice looking place to check out while im on vacation even though its nothing to do in lansing but where im from in NJ ymca charges $5 for any non members adults.Westside YMCA dont even sell day passes to non members i find that to be ridiculous.
There is so much to do here. Roller rink, rock climbing wall, lap pool, childrens shallow warm water pool with slide, free weights, fitness machines, basketball, racket ball, ping pong, fitness classes like, Zumba, yoga, dance, Pilates, cycling, aerobics, and way more. Its clean, with nice people. Leave you frickin cellphone in the car - no one wants to listen to you talk to you friend!
A nice enough gym but it is small. Crowded and not enough space, not a very long track (tenth of a mile), and not a great variety of exercise equipment.
This is my first athletic club membership. They have all the activities I could imagine. The staff is always friendly and that transfers to the other members.Always a great day, going there.
Great place!!! My daughter and i loooove this place!❤️❤️❤️❤️ Has changed my life forever. ☺️☺️☺️☺️
Love this Y! If we lived in town wed totally go here! The pool and slide are awesome for my kid and I can chill in the hot tub.
I really love their tot watch. Some baby sitters are definitely better than, others right now my faves are meg and the two older ladies! The facility is decent. Has a variate of free classes. You can sign up for a scholarship to help pay for your membership for 3 months at a time. If you can’t afford it. They favor family’s
A decent place for the whole family to enjoy fitness. The have racquetball courts, pool and whirlpool, kids play area in the pool, beweights and assorted equipment. Free fitness classes are offered to members. A roller rink is on site as well. They also have a snack bar, but Im not sure about the hours.
A great place to work out, swimming pool r good ...
Good workout area and plenty of treadmills and ellipticals The pool is always crowded in the PM. The basketball always seem to have other activities happening on them. Aside from some of the special class offerings, which cost a ton in addition to your regular membership fees, (spin, yoga, karate, roller hockey), youre just as well off joining a local gym.
Great programs friendly staff clean facilities very reasonably priced, plenty of equipment
Excellent Y with a full gym, pool, water slide, running/walking track, weight machines, sauna, raquet ball courts, climbing wall, indoor hockey court, a cafe and other facilities. The best and largest in Lansing.
I took, and my kids to the tot watch. When I went to pick up my almost 4 year old, the worker said oh she went to the big kids room. When I dropped her off I was not informed there were more rooms. I went in the “big kid” room and they said, no she never came here. I went back to the little kids room and they said oh she went to the bathroom I went in the bathroom and she was sitting on the floor. I said why are you in here? She said the door was too heavy and I couldnt open it, I knocked and yelled but they didnt hear me. She said she was in there a long time. Totally unacceptable. There were at least 20 kids in the room with two workers, all kids under the age of 5.
Very nice staff but they dont like it if you have to drop weights even if youre doing Olympic lifts that nearly require it. One staff will tell you to go do it in a certain area, another will say you cant at all. They say it will scare the elderly.
The life gaurds are so mean ! there are a bunch of teens and young adults working there and whenever you ask them a question they give you the “talk to me and die” look, one blonde skinny boy lifeguard (who i’m always super nice to) is the meanest life guard there. i say “bye bye have a great day” every time i leave the pool while putting my little wrist band back and he just looks at me and give me that stare like “i don’t want to talk to you”. if they were nicer i would totally go to the ymca pool a lot more. now on the other hand the people at the front desk are always super nice and respectful towards me, my dad and my friend. my dad has known one of them since the 90’s !!
Very rude management staff. Paid five dollars to use the skating rink and after paying, a manager has the nerve to ask me to pay another 10?! No way! After completing the transaction and telling me it was only $5.00 there is no reason why someone should pay another ten dollars. As I was walking out the manager yells, where do you think youre going? Very unprofessional and uncanny. Will NEVER be returning. Lastly, when you complete a transaction, do not expect a customer to pay more after youre the ones who made the mistake.
Ive emailed and called stop taking money out of my account if I cannot use the facility I want my refund back for the last 6 months or more
Showers closed for regrouting? Couldnt they just close half of them at a time? Track surface is too slick.
Great place for adults and kids. Swimming, exercise including yoga and martial arts, sports, rock wall climbing and child care facilities.
Great family place to work out or spend some time.
A very clean and welcoming place to get healthy.
Our kids love it here - between the pool, the roller skating, and the rock climbing, theres always something fun to do! Plus the staff has always been friendly and helpful, and the facility is always clean.
Great place to work out. Has it all. Good machines, tons of gree weights, track, pool, b ball, nice employees, clean.
Still good place for family. But the parking lot needed some work done to it.
They are a bit too pricey for our budget, but we got to enjoy our granddaughter taking swim lessons for free. Thank You 😊!
Just joined but the place is great and everyone there is friendly.
Back to working out. Clean except some mold in the showers. Still waiting on the trainercall
Westside community YMCA has offered organized sports programs and an inclusive workout facilty that will develop young people into disciplined eaters, health aware adults.
Drove a distance just to use climbing wall the only 2 hours it was suppose to b open but they said there guy didnt show to open it.. Thankfully they have a lot of good workout equipment
Son played in the 6u league and its poorly ran times for games played where changed without proper notice, set up games and officials available for games were poorly managed. There is just mainly a lack communication to parents about what the heck is happening and its disheartening cause my son loves to play ball and looks forward to playing its his first team sport. So they have Failed needless to say.
Pool staff is horribly unfriendly and unprofessional. I literally overheard lifeguards talking ill about some patrons and their frustration that the staff was refusing to turn on the sprayers. There were a good 9 or 10 kids wanting to play in the sprayers but the staff would not accommodate them for the one girl who was receiving a swim lesson. Not only were they rude, but to talk badly of your paying members is wholely unprofessional, especially when they can hear you.
Super great YMCA!!!
Excellent place to play basketball workout swim all around a great place to be!
We love this place, great staff and amenities. But I with the would do some up dates to the family changing rooms. Changing table dont have clips ... ect
Have visited all of the location but I love the old Lansing Rd one the best perfect for everyone in the family
Great place to work out, the staff members are awesome too
Great workout place, and steem rooms.
Family friendly. Always greeted with smile and respect
Located near a highway and railroad tracks this is the only ymca in the Lansing area with a water-slide.
Great facility with incredible people! They have programs for kids, adults and seniors and are a staple in the community.
My son joined the basketball league there .So far I am not impressed. They sent out no info and had to go there today to find out practice and game schedule. It was good thing I went today because first practice was tonite and of course the coach was a no show.
3 SWIM life guards on last 2 hours of sat 9/22 Ethan, Jordan & hanna for 3-5 member pool attendance, stationed at same guard station chatting.such a disappointing waste of labor $$$
My grandson has been playing basketball here for years. Excellent coaching staff, great addition to his school basketball season.
The pools are well maintained and facilities clean w good equipment and classes.
Good staff.. good enough swimming facility.. equipments.. Jacuzzi
I love working out there best place ever
Theyre spinning class is out of this world
Wide variety of activities available. Wish new management would honor discounts previously given to some organizations, the parking lot regularly need work, and the floor could be swept on the track more often, but overall a nice place
Good gym, decent pool and hot tub. Could use some updating
Not your average gym. This YMCA has everything you can think of:Roller skating/blading rinkCrossfit areaNew cardio and pulley equiptmentSwimming pool and water slideRock climbing wallCons:The parking lot is in rough shape
Smell in pool area burns the eyes.. beside thay is good
Newer facilities but Oak Park is friendlier.
Crazy place to go lot peoples no good.
I love this place!! Its like my second home.
Great for kids and adults. Three pools, slides, big gym, indoor track, hockey rink, bball and rball courts, and a climbing wall. Staff are excellent.
Its a great value for the family plan.
Facility is the best in the area but BEWARE THE ATROCIOUS PARKING LOT there is absolutely no way to get in and out of here without bottoming out your vehicle in a landmine.
Doesnt allow day passes. No options for families in town for short time. Charge $20 a day if you need but just saying no is disappointing.
My 11 year old son has a passion for cooking. His Grandmother was paying for a camp so when we saw Kitchen Creations, and what they were offering, we thought this would be the perfect camp. Unfortunately that was not what happened. There was no teaching of culinary skills, no teaching of nutrition. There was no stove, hotplate, or microwave in the room. They put fruit in yogurt and froze it. They crushed up cookies in pre-made pudding. Took a field trip to MSU dairy farm, where they watched a video on how they MAKE milk and cheese. Never actually got a chance to make anything, but ate ice cream in the ice cream parlor. 4th day was pancakes, which the kids poured batter into a measuring cup then poured it into a bowl. The instructors did the actually cooking. Then after that, the INSTRUCTORS made eggs, not the students. Friday, they did NO cooking at all. My son came home VERY disappointed! Actually cried because he didnt at all get what he thought was going to be a great learning experience! This camp was a colossal waste of time and money! The YMCA wasted a prime opportunity to inspire children and maybe put them on a path to becoming chefs. We are extremely disappointed and will be VERY skeptical concerning any other camps for children at the Y!
Older gym equipment. Love the family environment.
Crowded as it should be. Need more space and better equipments for weightlifting.
Doesnt work with active duty military discount
Its a great place to work out and swim.
Great place to work out with friends and family.
Love the YMCA! Great staff!
I used to love playing hockey here when I was younger
Solid YMCA location with a lot to offer. Somewhat off the beaten path, but still worth checking out.
There equipment is way outdated, always broken down and our money doesnt seem to improve the updates needed. Very ashamed of how a nonprofit organization makes so much money, but doesnt improve their (proud-of-ownership) curb Appeal.
The facility is clean, comfortable and services friendly.
Love love love this YMCA!! Wish that I lived closer
Friendly staff great place to work out
Great place to exercise and relax
