I sent my 15 year old daughter to get her nails done and she was taken advantage of. She was charged $67 for gel nails that were short with so called flames that were not cute. Then they charged her friend $53 for short French tipped gel nails. I would never use any of their services. Ive gone to places that did better designs for better prices.

Getting my pedicure here was amazing. I got them done for my birthday and I got the deluxe pedicure with acrylic on the 2 big toes. It was relaxing and the off white color I asked for was perfect, as was the shaping for my acrylic toe nails. Wonderful service!Now this part is different and is the reason why I didn’t give full stars. My nails were horrible. The shaping is all off and they are plain white instead of the off white color I asked for. I got charged for extra length when I didn’t even get extra length, I got the highest they’ll go before they charge you extra and they still charged me. Not to mention I was told my shaping was going off the picture I provided, the picture was square shaped and my nails are coffin. He offered to redo them after I said something but one hand was already shaped and he told me he would’ve had to take them off and start over so I just said it was fine. I like to add up the services I received based off their pricing and besides the extra length and coffin shape they charged me extra and I am unsure what for. I called and asked for pricing over the phone after to make sure and there was still an extra $8 charge that was unaccounted for. With that being said I would definitely get a pedicure here but when it comes to my acrylic sets I’d rather take my business elsewhere.

We had great service! They were busy but didnt rush anyone through. We will definitely be back. Plus they have kids pedicure chairs, which is a plus!

They did an amazing job and were super nice! They were patient while I was deciding my nail color and helped me so much! My grandma has been going here for years and has said nothing but good things. 10/10 would recommend.

Slow service but after waiting in chair for over 20 minutes was finally taking care of while my friend wanted over 30 minutes to be addressed. They did two pedicures of people who came in after us before they did or nails.

I stopped in tonight 3/11/21 for a mani/pedi. I sat down in the pedicure chair and the tech (an older woman) began working on my feet before they were even submerged in the water. I was not offered the upgrade package or asked what kind of service I wanted. When I was given the ok to put one foot in the water she was already cleaning under my toe nails and multiple times made me wince or cry out in pain on the other foot. In total my feet were in the water not even 7 minutes before she drained the water, dried my feet and painted my toes. No lotion, no massage, no filing of my toe nails, nothing. She then got up and went to get a bowl of water for my manicure. I quickly informed her that I didn’t want one. After allowing my nails to dry for about 10 minutes I asked Andy (the owner) for slippers so that I could leave and then proceeded to tell him how unhappy I was with the service and explain why. He responded that when I came back the next time he would credit me if I wanted to bring a friend along. I informed him that I would not be coming back and that I didn’t want to pay for the service. He told me that I had to pay but he would only charge me $20. I shook my head in disgust, paid and informed him that he would never receive my patronage again. So disappointing. There are MANY nail salons in the Iowa City/Coralville area, I will gladly be a patron of theirs instead

This is the best nail salon around, in my opinion! I have been other places and my nails always chip, here they out grow before they chip. I never know what I want so I always say surprise me and Im never disappointed...I love this place!!

Got my nails done the beginning of january went in Feb 16 the have them take off this 1 nail that wont come off and it hurts and not to mention my real nails have been destroyed..then they act like they couldnt take them off because they want to sit around on their damn phones instead of offering service

Everyone was bery friendly and attentive. Basic pedicure and eye brow wax were done in less than an hour, under 40$. Easy online scheduling. I will definitely be making more appointments.

I get my nails (acrylics) and toes done here. Ive been coming here for 3+ years and my nails have been done by almost everyone on staff. They are perfect every time--the shape, the polish, everything is always exactly as I want it. The staff is very meticulous, never rushed, and very friendly. The facilities are always clean. I recommend Secret Nails to all my friends...and strangers too :)

Much different experience than Ive ever had anywhere else...It was great! Very friendly and they did a great job. Even though they were steadily busy they didnt try to rush their current customers so that they could get to the ones who were waiting. It was very admirable. Looking forward to going back.

This is not a relaxing experience. The shop is sketchy about hygiene at best, the techs are snappy to the point of rude and they dont listen to clients at all. My beautiful, long nails that I asked to have shaped and polished were whacked off short before I could say, Stop! At that point I halted the manicure and left. I will never go back.

Nails great.. service decent. i went with my aunt to get my acrylics and a pedicure. she got a manicure and pedicure. she wanted to do the manicure at the table because when they do it at the pedicure spot, they don’t do it good enough. when she told the lady that, she got upset and threw her paraffin bag on the ground and started talking angrily to the girl doing my toes. when she was doing her nails, she was a little rude, but it got better towards the end. my nails turned out great.

This is an amazing family operated business. Ive been a client for at least 20 years. The employees are all very efficient and thorough. I believe any poor rating was given by someone who simply didnt communicate their expectations to the staff. I recommend this nail place over any other in the Iowa City area.

They do excellent work. Family friendly. I wont go anywhere else. I trust their recommendations and their work is worth more than they charge. They stand behind their work.

Ive been a customer of Secret Nails for several years, and I have ALWAYS had a wonderful experience there. It is family owned and operated, and everyone is extremely friendly, very knowledgeable, and talented. My daughter and I frequently give each other gift certificates as gifts to each other and we enjoy going there together!

Went with my friend and this dude was like pinching my legs during my pedicure, then we said we would pay an extra 5 dollars for a flower on our nails and my guy gives me this huge ugly flower thats just consisting of like 6 white lines and an orange dot in the middle while on the other hand my friend got this cool gold and silver desing thing so I asked for one too and he literally just painted a bunch of gold streaks around the flower. They were also really pushy about trying to get us to spend more money on stuff, saying its just 10 more dollars then saying, are you sure like 3 times

Andy does my nails. He did my first acrylic set at secret nails. The conversation was good and The quality of the service was very good. I came in 45 minutes before closing hours and he stayed 15 minutes late just to finish my nails. I am a cosmetologist and broke two nails at work, I came back to secret nails and Andy replaced my two broken nails AND re-painted my entire set free of charge (And I had a French manicure). Thank you Andy and all of the ladies at secret nails. I will be back for a fill next week!

No good. 🥵 i got shellac & the nail polish wasn’t nice & smooth, it was all bumpy. looked like speed bumps

I think my mani and pedi were wonderful. Everyones was pleasant great atmosphere etc. I would have given a 5 star, but after everything was done. The person accepting payment said, She gave you a deluxe pedicure. Thinking back I had colorful, smelly scented water choices, leg scrub and message and a hot towel treatment. This took a while and I thought she was just being thorough and nice. I had no idea I was given a deluxe pedicure without consent for extra cost. I made the comment...Do you always give a deluxe pedicure without asking permission?His response.I will give you $5 off.Wow ...what a deal? 🤦🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️5 stars... if I would have walked out with more money in my pocket. But he charged me for the deluxe. I even gave a tip... mad as hell but she did a great job.

My friend wanted to get a certain design on her nails and She was told to go there. She came back and said they did great on her nails and did the design they wanted.

Got my nails done there, paid before hand as they ask you too (and added a tip), went home and took it off. The polish was uneven and had lumps which the lady tried to cover with another coat, French tip lines were not straight and when she finished both hands and saw that one side was thicker than the other, rather than make the one side thinner, she thickened it and the french tip took up a little over a third of the nail. Very disappointing, its been a while since ive had my nails done and i have an event im going to tomorrow which is why i was having them done.

This place shouldnt even be open, me and my sisters went in to get our nails done and th owner started yellung at my sister when sge ask if they could redo them because they were wrongly done, and this isnt the first time and he even yelled to us he doesnt need our buisness, i highly di t recommend this place at all

DO NOT GO!!! I HAD THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! I ASKED FOR A CERTAIN SHAPE AND THEY DID IT INCORRECTLY. I ASKED THEM TO RE DO IT AND GENTLEMEN GOT UPSET AND STARTED TAKING THEM OFF ROUGHLY. SO I TOLD HIM TO STOP AND THAT WAS GOING SOMEWHERE ELSE. HE TOLD ME TO PAY. I REFUSED AND HE GOT ANGRY AND RAISED HIS VOICE AT ME. HE CONTINUED TO TALK TO OTHER CUSTOMERS ABOUT ME. DONT GO. I CRIED. I WAS SO UPSET!
