I was ripped off completely at this place. I asked for a very simple nail design which he said was an extra $7, which was no big deal and it made sense. However, when he put the acrylics on, he charged me an extra $5 to cut down the acrylic to the length I wanted which was pretty long. In my experience, it’s easier to keep the nail long and shape than it is to cut it down and make the nail still look good. He then asked what shape I wanted, which was coffin. He then charged me another $5 for the shape. Coffin is one of the easiest nail shapes because it takes minimal effort. I put the picture of my nails down as reference, the smiley face wasn’t even that great for the amount I was charged.

Ive never had my nails done, so this was a first time experience. The lovely lady doing my nails, Destiny was super nice and did a wonderful job! I definitely will be coming back!

When I was getting my nails done, many people were walking in and calling for nail appointments at this salon with no problems. I did clearly notice 4 black women walk in on separate occasions asking to get their nails done, to which the staff replied “We are fully booked and cannot do your nails.” I looked around and noticed that everyone getting their nails done were white, and it was 2 PM in the middle of the salon hours. After these women were refused service and exit, many more (white) women were able to walk in and be served with no issues. I am confused as to why these women were turned away due to “no availability” when there was clearly time available to serve other white clients. I’m sure it would save people’s time if they had a sign out front that says only white people can get their nails done here. I will not be returning.

Got a manicure here and loved it. They ask to make sure your nails are exactly how you like them, have a great selection of colors, and it’s so clean!The space itself is also so cute! It’s a nail bar!They’re a popular spot so I’d make an appointment!

Went in for a pedicure and a dip set and was only able to get a pedicure since they were so busy. Extremely disappointed in the pedicure the water was cold and the lady doing my feet was so rough with the tools. I expressed multiple times what she was doing hurt and she would just look at me and continue. I don’t want to assume a language barrier was the problem but I’ve had multiple pedicures and have never felt the need to ask anyone to stop. I still chose to tip because she did finish the service and I’ve gone their before and my nails have always looked good but can’t say I’ll be getting another pedicure there anytime soon.

I have been going to this nail salon for 3 years. I am very happy with the service that is provided. The workers are very friendly and the always remember when I come in. The place is always clean and has a nice atmosphere. I have live in Iowa City more than 20 years and this is the nail salon that has made me feel the most welcome.

This was my first time visiting Galaxy nail salon and I had a great experience! I chose them because they were open later than most, but I will be making the drive to visit again in the future! Ken was wonderful and really took his time on my dip manicure! Eva did a great job on my pedicure as well! Overall, great experience!!

The staff was so kind and accommodating. This was by far the best pedicure that I’ve ever had. I also chose the Galaxy pedicure. They told me the price up front making sure there was no confusion. It was a very reasonable price for a deluxe pedicure and worth every penny.

Great experience here! I got a full set of acrylic nails done with an almond shape and a matte finish. Son was upfront with me about the extra costs for what I wanted. He took the time to make sure I was happy with how my nails were looking after each step in the process. My nails turned out great! Son was friendly and careful with my nails and hands. This was my second experience with Galaxy Nails and I will be going back again!

This is the second time the receptionist messed up the time of my appointment. The first time I was patient enough but not today. Was blaming me for being 5-10 minutes behind when I live 25 minutes outside of town and Iowa city traffic is not something I can control. He repeatedly told me my appointment was 15 minutes earlier when I had confirmed TWICE over the phone on Tuesday that my appointment was for 4:30.THE GOOD: The manicurists are nothing but professional and do a great job every time! Ken is the best!The not so good: the receptionist made me feel bad about my busy schedule and being late a couple of minutes over traffic which is something I can’t control. I’ll be looking elsewhere for my nail care after today’s experience.

I heard about Galaxy Nails through a friend, I am so glad I tried it out! They are the best! Very friendly and perfectionists with their work, which I appreciate. My daughter and I have been pleased every time we’ve gotten our nails done, we won’t be going anywhere else! Highly recommend!

Galaxy Nails is the only place I get my nails done in Iowa City. Their salon is so clean and all of the staff members that I have encountered do an excellent job. I want to give a special shout out to Ken. He did ombre dip on my nails and they look even better than the inspiration picture that I showed him! He stayed late after they closed and took his time to make sure that my nails were perfect- this was also just a few days before Christmas. I appreciate him taking the time to make my nails look amazing and he did not rush or make me feel bad about it. I was so impressed and happy with the amazing service I received from Ken and everyone else at the salon!

My nails were very messed up they broke in less then a day and i called to get a refund they cussed at me and said there gonna call the police on me and basically said i got my nails too long which there not. don’t go to them i promise you there not worth it and there rude i wish i could rate the place lower.

Great customer service, they always do their best to accommodate my wants, they do not hesitate to fix my nails when they break or get chipped in two weeks after I get deep powder acrylic nail service. If you are not satisfied, YOU SHOULD TELL THEM WHAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED, don’t just be shy and/or write a bad review, they are always happy to fix any problems. Inconsistent with prices. I got a full set with gel one day for like $60 then my friend goes in to get the same thing and they only charge her $45. I also got a fill and it was more expensive than a full set. They also charge ridiculous extra amounts for reshaping your nails or designs.Mind you I never got a design or reshaping when I went in for the fill and it was the same price as the full set I got before.

I called an hour before they were off as I was in town visiting an auntie of mine and ran late to getting back to CR to get my nails done. I asked if I could get a dip set or if I was too late. They said to come on in. They got to me almost immediately. I only had to wait maybe 5 minutes. He did stay late to finish my nails but didn’t make me feel bad or anything about it. The guy that did mine was so nice, had a conversation with me and even asked if I was okay since I must have looked upset or sad not sure but anyways I love them and will definitely be going every time!

I got mani pedis with my friends for a wedding, and I felt the staff rushed. I asked for specific nail art and got something completely different (not to mention it was super messy). Beneath the nail art was French on my fingers and toes which was bulky. The acrylics had bubbles in the polish that you could see and started coming off the day after. I spent $100 for a very bad experience.

Best pedicure I’ve ever had. The deluxe stone pedicure was stress relieving and the attention to detail with the painting of the nail color was exceptional. Great experience from the greeter kindly enforcing sanitation rules to the very little wait time and the overall service was wonderful. My sister and I definitely appreciate the amazing service, work, and kindness overall. We will be returning here when we’re in the area again.

My fav nail place! Ive been to a lot of salons around the area and I keep coming back here. It is very clean, staff is friendly and fun, and my gel stays on for 3 weeks. If I ever have a problem they are happy to fix it. Also they have a great 20% off deal when you make appointments ahead of time.

I was seated right away and the staff offered me a drink. Nice atmosphere, very clean with single-use tools unwrapped in front of clients. Beautiful pedicure, was in and out in less than an hour (drying time included). Very happy with my experience and will be back again!

Love them. My nails are always beautiful. Get so many compliments on them. They are very sweet. And fit me in any time.

I was treated extremely rudely by the woman who waxed my eyebrows and upper lip. Do not come here for waxing. They got done with my nails in 25 minutes and it appeared to do a lovely job but my nails didn’t even last 24 hours. They became dull and chipped the next day. Also their equipment was faulty. I got gel-tipped nails and the machine for drying the nail polish kept burning me and it gave me second degree burns. Maybe come here for dips nails and powered but do not get gel tipped and do NOT get any waxing done. The woman was making fun of me while she was waxing my eyebrows and laughing at me and calling me a “hairy beast.” I’ve been getting my eyebrows waxed for ten years and never once until that day was I ever treated so horribly. While I was getting my nails done by my manicurist, the waxing woman came over to talk to him and although she was speaking in another language it was very clear she was talking smack regarding his customer. I’d give this place zero stars but it doesn’t give me that option so I’m giving it one.

Gotta say do not like this place at all, they were so rude and almost never smile to us. I have been there twice, none of it feels good to me. Also, the gel was off after two days for the gel manicure was done, I have never been to any place that have a such poor quality. If you want a place to enjoy manicure and pedicure, this is not the best place to go!!

I had a really great experience here! I got a full set of acrylics for about $25. They did a really fantastic job and were really receptive to my preferences (like please cut them very short!). I will definitely be going back. They are a relatively new place. They have a very clean, welcoming shop. I would highly recommend this place!

This was my first time at this salon. I thought I’d try it out since I haven’t had the best experiences at other salons in town. They were extremely polite and professional, took extra precautions for COVID-19, and were super efficient while also doing a great job with my gel manicure and pedicure. I definitely felt pampered. Wonderful service. I called earlier in the day to schedule an appointment, and when I showed up the whole store was filled with people. I had low expectations and prepared myself for a long wait, but an employee came over promptly to get my manicure started. The staff acknowledged the full store and thanked me for my patience which wasnt necessary but appreciated. Amy did my manicure and she was great. Very personable, and sweet. I have been looking for a nail salon in IC, and was very disappointed with Grace Nails down the street.... will definitely be back to Galaxy Nails!

Absolutely love this place! Always friendly and nice and willing to work hard on your nails. I had a nail come off and they were so happy to fix it for free i really appreciated their service. HIGHLY RECOMMEND over grace nails anyday.

My sister and i went last night and both got dip nails and pedicures. My sister had to get her previous dip removed and they had to glue on 3 tips to even out her nails Annnnd in only took a little over an hour!! They got us right in and the environment felt warm and fun.Pricing is good too~~ if you call in 5 hours ahead to set an appointment you get 20% off and if you pay with cash you get 5% off.

I went in and got my nails done and it was like 48 dollars or something but when i got into the car I realized they didnt paint my entire nail and one was missing paint 48 dollars wasted then another time i went to get my feet done and ended up with half a toe painted and my other toe hurting .

I honestly never complain, but I felt that my experience at Galaxy Nails was worth sharing as Ive never been treated so rudely at a business. I called ahead to make an appointment for 2 manicures. Upon arrival at our scheduled time, they were running 30+ minutes behind. We were told by 1 employee to pick out nail colors and wait, then were literally yelled at by another employee to stop picking out nail colors. We decided to get our nails done elsewhere. It was just an unpleasant experience I would have rather avoided.

Super clean, very nice staff. They do a good job and charge reasonable prices. This is my new go-to spot.

There ok if you like your nails looking like they came from the 90s era. Am sick of paying these nail salons for experience they dont have. Its 2019 and there are a million different ways to get your nails done, but instead they seem to think its ok to charge for something they cant provide.

This is the first one star review I have ever left. I consider myself as a generous person, but my previous experience with Galaxy was extremely awful. The lady who did the nail for me was impolite and rude. When she talked with her co-worker, she was laughing, once turned to me, her face was serious without any smile. And always command me “change hands” and “don’t move”, without “please”. I feel she did not treat me as a customer at all. When the job is done, I told her that I asked for matt coat, once I said that, she looked so mad, feels she almost speak curse words to me. But the price she quoted me before was with matt coat. And after 2 days, the matt coat is already gone. I am very disappointed. Do not recommend this place.

Ive been to Galaxy a few times and always had the same man on the end of the counter. He makes me feel like I cannot move my hands or fingers and if I do or dont have my fingers or hands positioned just right he glares at me and sighs a big sigh. Ive never had anyone treat me this way while having nails done. He also takes longer than anyone I have gone too and I get my nails done monthly. I think everything else about the place is fine, but I will not go back again because of how he treats me and I am sure others. I feel like I am on eggshells afraid I may make a wrong move the entire time. For what we pay, this should be much more of a pleasant experience and I can definitely find that elsewhere.

Was there to have my nails done and every single one of my cuticles was butchered. Literal cuts where they were bleeding. I went there on the reccomedation of a friend and ended up paying more than other salons. Would not go again nor recommend. They probably won’t even read the reviews anyway but have to let other people know so that don’t make the same mistake I did. It’s a few days after and my fingers hurt.

Mom said it was very good and they had good conversation skills.
