We went on a 4-hour charter. It took 1 hour to get out to the fishing hole. With two hours of fishing we caught five sharks and a large stingray. The sharks ranged from two to almost 6 ft.None of new much about fishing. Mike, the deck guy, made it fun, easy and exciting.We would absolutely book this again. Were already looking forward to next years trip.

6 Hour Charter Oct 15, 2020We booked a 6 hour fishing charter and went 15 miles out. Captain Mike from the Gullah Gal was amazing. He will tell you everything up front and you can decide how far you want to go. He told us in advance that there will be non-stop actions but there will be 1 keeper for every 12 fish we pull up. We were lucky to catch a sea bass, trigger fish, and King Mackerel. Book Captain Mike if you are looking for a great fishing charter in Hilton Head.

Had a great day with Stefan on the Gullah Gal did the 8 hour trip and he was great he put us on the fish and we caught a bunch. Some Spanish Mackerel, King Mackerel, Sea Bass and Shark that we were able to keep and a bunch of others that we couldnt keep. We will definitely go out again with them when were in town again.

Captain Jeff & 1st mate Seth were amazing! It was our 1st time salt water fishing and we couldn’t have asked for a better time. We were welcomed by Nick(the dolphin) before heading out to sea. If you are ever in the Hilton Head area make sure that you schedule a trip with these guys. You won’t be disappointed.

Took my boys on a short fishing trip and had a great time! Caught plenty, including sharks and had a blast! Even saw dolphins up close! Captain Jeff & Seth we’re very patient and family friendly! Highly recommend..

Captain Jeff and his mate Seth were very good as I will try to explain.I initially wanted to go way out on a long trip to try to catch AJ’s or grouper with my son, an old friend, and his two boys. My son is almost 6, and the other two boys are 8 and 11.Cpt Jeff told me that was not a good plan, and rather than sell a more expensive package, advised me to take a short trip near the shore to fish for reef shark and maybe a few other bigger shark like black tip instead because the kids would not last 12 hours and in an unpredictable ocean a sick kid could be disaster for the rest of us. He said if I wanted to have a good time and for the kids to have fun sharks would put up a fight but the trip would be short enough to get the kids back before they burned out.. I was hoping to get something I could eat, but since we had 3 boys on board that had never gone teaching them and making it fun enough for them to want to do it again did seem smart. So we agreed with the plan he laid out.We got a 4 hour trip, and out of the 5 of us caught 14-16 (enough to lose count) sharks one was a 30 lb black tip the rest were 3 ft reef sharks, and 1 ray... they put up a good fight, the boys all loved it. My son is ADHD and it was enough action to keep him engaged for the most part. We doubled up twice and tripled up once which was awesome.1st mate Seth was great with teaching the boys and coaching us to get the fish in the boat. He made sure we were safe with the sharks and was good conversation with a lot of knowledge about the island and the fishing, and definitely kept the fish coming with good rigs and bait (I’m sure that Cpt Jeff deserves some credit for getting us in the right place to fish.)The True Grits has cover to protect from the sun or rain Which is a big deal to me, was clean and comfy and was well stocked with gear/tackle.I will is absolutely try to book this crew and boat the next time I come out to beautiful Hilton head SC, and will try to get my niece and brother out later this year or next summer.The only thing that was hard was booking. I would say it’s best to call in the evening.. but after calling half a dozen fishing charters This seems to be such a common issue I don’t want to ding the crew for it, just trying to advise folks on how to actually get booked..

My Dad and I went out with Jeff and John on True Grits for some shark fishing....what an experience!!! Between us we caught two Black Tip sharks, one Fine Tooth shark and a couple Sting-Rays. They put us right on the spot and we were reeling in what felt like the whole time. They were super friendly, knowledgeable and just great guys. I can’t recommend them enough if you are looking for a great time doing some sport fishing. Thanks for everything guys and we will look forward to when we can go again!

Being new to deep sea fishing, we could not have had a better Captain. or First Mate. Capt. Jeff knew where to take us for the fish we wanted to be able to catch for eating. He was so knowledgeable and always kind in explaining everything to us. We have even booked another trip with him. Also a huge bonus was the First Mate, Johns, fun demeanor with the teenagers fishing and he beautifully filleted our catch and bagged them for take home!
