Best Friends Animal Hospital is the only place that I would take my four legged family members. Dr. Norton and his team saved my dogs life. I love that Dr. Norton works with the pet parents and listens to their concerns.

I used to recommend everyone to Best Friends, but now I am just extremely disappointed in their service. Every time I call I am immediately put on hold for 5-10 minutes and told they have no availability for weeks, then when I do have an appointment I wait anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour to actually be serviced. Just no regard for someones time.They do a good job when they do service you, but their customer service is trash. Wont be visiting again.

The staff at Best Friends Animal Hospital is AMAZING!!! Ive heard in comparison, their costs are higher but I think theyre worth every penny! I have full confidence that they taking care and treating my dog like family. They always give me a thorough report of what they did and answer all my questions. If they dont the doctor that completed the procedure contacts me later. I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone! My dogs are family... and there is no cost associated with that!

Ive been taking my pets (dogs and cats) to Best Friends for nearly 30 years. They are always thorough, compassionate, understanding, and very knowledgeable whether for routine care or illness. They go the extra mile to ensure every avenue is considered in taking care of your pet.

Im updating my review based on the last 18 months of service or lack there of. Any and everytime I call to get my dog in for anything, its either theyre booked out weeks or I have to been seen as an emergency, which of course the price goes up. Out of the last 16 months of calling for appointments..theyve managed to squeeze me in 1 time! When your pet cant get in to see the vet because theyre so busy ...its no longer about the health and wellness of your pet...its about the money. I no longer trust my pet with this veterinarian hospital.

Our cat had a kitten and unfortunately her uterus prolapsed while she was trying to birth her second kitten so we took her to Best Friends Animal Hospital and since we couldnt pay $2,200 right that second they told us that we could either surrender her or take her home to die(their exact words). So we were forced to surrender her in order to save her and now they refuse to give us any information about wether or not she or the second kitten made it. We would at least like to know if shes OK or not so that we can reunite her with her surviving kitten. All in all the staff there is very rude and lacks basic human decency.

I love the vet service I receive with you. It seems as though everyone cares about my pets and gives them the best care available. The only problem I ever have is setting appointments when I need them. We received Jack and he had a sever ear infection. We had to wait two weeks for an appointment. Where this problem does arrive frequently I know its because you are giving the best care you can to all patients. I do refer you to anyone looking for a vet. To me you are awesome and I will continue to drive the 100 mile one way for all my vet needs.

Moved from Great Falls and have not had a vet as great as Dr. Mike from the vets in my area. Moving back and feel so relieved to get Best Friends again as our vet.

If it were possible to give more than 5 stars, I would in a heartbeat. Our Bernese Mountain Dog was treated by Dr. Norton in a compassionate and very professional manner. He was willing to answer our questions, get outside opinions and work on several different treatment options. He ended up doing multiple surgeries on our sweet dog and was always upfront about possible outcomes and realistic about expectations we should have for results. We got to know the staff very well over our time at the clinic, which included regular and specialized care, medical boarding, regular boarding and daycare. From the moment youre greeted to the moment you leave, you and your pet will feel like an important family member, not a dollar sign. We have since moved from Great Falls, but each time we look for a new vet, we wish we could transplant Best Friends with us!

We lived in Great Falls for just over 10 years, and with some research we chose this vet. We stuck with this vet the whole time, because from day one, I felt my pug was in the best care. Hurley had multiple surgeries and appointments over the years, and every time I felt not only was he in the best care, but mentally so was I. They would always call a day or two afterwards to see how he is doing, ask questions about him. Dr. Norton always made sure he had follow up appointments to make sure Hurley was on the right track. We’ve since moved 5 hours away, out of country, and I’ve yet to find a vet like this one. I miss this vet, and I’ll be sure when we visit Great Falls, that we will book a wellness check because they provide the best care. Thank you for being an amazing vet over the years and taking care of my best friend.

Excellent service and care. Everyone was so kind and comforting to us during a scary situation with our oldest dog. She came out walking again! We were so pleased with our first visit that we are going to be taking all of our pets to Best Friends when needed.

We took our pup in when she started limping and they reassured me it was mild arthritis. The vet we saw stated he was not concerned after doing X-rays and if we started getting her on supplements we could get ahead of it and slow the progression. We followed everything he recommended but the limp only got worse and so I called to get her back in for follow up. They called me back and stated the vet said “well she had a torn ACL so if you haven’t gotten surgery for this, there is nothing we can do”. NEVER was a torn ACL mentioned in our appointment. They stated they don’t know why they didn’t mention it. There was no sorry or explanation given only that I could talk to their surgeon. I was treating it like a mild case of arthritis and she had a torn ACL the entire time, they just forgot to mention it in the appointment I guess. I went to Associated Vet and they stated she did have torn ACLs and extremely severe arthritis. They said the direction given by Best Friends was very off and the arthritis was way more progressed than they stated and she needs more than supplements. Now we are left with few options for our dog and if we had known how severe she was, we would have done so much different. It is so sad that what they did is acceptable at all. I will never trust this place to treat my animals again.

The care for my pet was sufficient but not impressed with their staff’s Covid-19 precautions. The vet tech and vet that worked with our puppy did not wear a mask while we were in the exam room. I wouldn’t recommend anyone who is elderly or high risk take their pet in during the Covid-19 pandemic.

May boyfriend and I bring our german shepherds here. The front desk girls are alway polite and very understanding. Then the vet techs are amazing and super sweet to our girls. Finally Dr. Norton is an excellent vet and gives our dogs exceptional care. I wouldnt bring our animals anywhere else.

This was a scary place. We went in for a c-section and ended up spayed... the dr didnt look me in the eye from the minute i walked in.... I guess he didnt like my small dog being pregnant.

I had an emergency with my cat. The on call Dr was rude, impatient and had ZERO compassion when speaking to me about my pet. He was mainly concerned with my credit card number and how long it would be to get her there. Yes it was after hours and yes it was a weekend but my animals are my family and being a Veterinarian was your choice for a profession. If it inconveniences you to do your job and pains you to use a little bit of patience and compassion, find another profession! Horrible!

A really lovely experience at this veterinary hospital. We just got a new puppy and scheduling was simple, plenty of available times, easy check-in, VERY friendly staff, clean rooms and waiting area, and coffee available. Desiree was really great, knowledgeable, informative, and helpful. They called immediately with lab results and treated my puppy very well. We really enjoyed our visit. I will definitely be bringing both of my pets to their facility! Thank you for the wonderful service!

They handled the illness and passing away of my dog with kindness and compassion. Way more than expected. Sad ending for her but the best service available in great falls. I believe that Dr Norton and his wonderful staff did all they could do for her and then some.

I have taken several of my pets to Best Friends, but mostly my cat. She has asthma really bad, every 3 to 4 weeks she needs to get an injection, EVERY single time it was an issue, I just needed a quick vet tech visit for the injection and it was always a fight. I was told it would be okay to bring her in after I got out of work at 5 but when Id call theyd argue with me that I needed an appointment and I would be charged for said appointment youre talking a lot of money when you need an appointment every 3 to 4 weeks, eventually that was worked out and that was no longer an issue. However, we had a couple emergencies were the injection wore off sooner then it should have, and I was given a medication which didnt help at all, when I had tried to get her in I was asked, could she wait till Monday?! My husband has asthma and I know if he was having an asthma attack her wouldnt make it a week, so no I dont think that my cat could go a whole week not being able to breathe. Finally I just had enough with the injections and wanted something that would last longer or that we could do at home, so we set up an appointment with the vet. We talked about a nebulizer, thats when the vet looked at her charts and saw the emergency medication wasnt even what they use in cats to treat asthma, because their bodies break it down differently then a dog would. He then gave us two medications with no labels (because he was giving them to us because of their mistake) and an injection just in case the pills didnt work. We waited for her next asthma attack gave her one pill it didnt seam to help so we gave her one of the other ones like he had directed and it worked, so I called and they said to use the pills together one of each. When we ran out I called for a refill, I told them that I wanted the two medications he had given me to try. When I went to pick them up it was just one bottle, and I asked why it was just one, the answer I got was, well the vet makes that choice and he must have felt that the one will just work. Because I didnt know the names of the medication samples he gave us I assumed my cat was in the best hands and I left it at that. For the last TWO days my cat hasnt been able to breathe, I gave her the medication and it didnt work. I went right to Best Friends first thing this morning to find out what samples he gave me to see if I could get the other pill, well there is NO RECORD of him giving us any sample medication, just the medication that didnt work and thats also the refill they had given me! I got my cats records and took her elsewhere this morning, I will not take any of my animals back to Best Friends!

Mike is the best...end of story. If you aint going to him you are settling for 2nd best

I highly recommend best friends animal hospital, because of their excellent service and they really care for your pet/family member as if it was their own. The wide range of knowledge and expertise gives you confidence that no other place can.

Waited an hour to see dr another half an hour to get medications. He talks too fast and not compassionate or explain very good. Didn’t help us but made our dog sicker. He has a liver disease and the dr put him on more meds that made him sick and said. Said he really didn’t need the meds our vet in Washington put him in. Our pet has been doing great for 4 years in the meds our vet had him on and this doctor said he couldn’t get one of them and gave us a refill of the one he had but didn’t match the meds our pet has and didn’t tell us how much to give him because the pill was huge. Terrible place!

I am pleased with the care given to my new kitty. I adopted her from the GTF Shelter. She needed an emergency operation shortly after I brought her home. The operation was very well done, and she is now playing like a little kitty should. Thank you for taking good care of Patches.

Best friends staff greet you and really seem to like there jobs and friendly and they are the first and last staff you see . Whether it is a nail trim or vet appt .Dr norton is our vet and always answers my questions and takes the time to talk to you as a pet owner and my pets are well taken of with all the staff from the front office to the techs and dr norton .I really want people to know best friends vet is the best place to go.. we have gone to other places and returned due to the caring staff at best friends vet .

The vets and all the staff were very helpful at keeping us calm and collected when our puppy accidentally swalloed a fish hook. They got her in as quickly as possible and stayed open late for us and took great care of her. Its like she never even had surgery! Thanks guys!

We have used both the boarding and the vet side of this business and are extremely happy with our experiences. The staff is knowledgeable and takes time to discuss any concerns that arise. This has been especially helpful in caring for my 9 year old 95 lbs shepherd mix, who gets seasonal allergies and recently had a sore on her foot. We’ve used the boarding side 4 different times and always have peace of mind knowing that our dog is in great hands!

The people are very nice. My cat received excellent care. They got her right in following exposure to a fire.

Dr. Wurtz is an angel. Hes my primary care provider for my dogs. Hes equipped with wonderful personality and shows zero fear in the face of my eldest pooch who has potential to be a biter. He gets down to business and is very caring and able to answer any health questions I have. Also a huge shout out to Dr. Norton. Hes the exotic animal veterinarian and very knowledgeable in regards to sugar gliders and their care. He neutered my baby boy sugar glider and the experience was very quick and smooth for him. Hes also equipped with a wonderful personality and is incredibly down to earth. The rest of the staff is great, however I think they could communicate just a touch better. It can be hard with that many employees and with as much as they have going on at any given time. However, all in all, everyone is very friendly and they work hard to give individual service to the people and animals.

Amazing staff ! My first visit everyone was so kind and caring and genuine ! I have tried many vets in town and none had made me as happy as this place! Everyone is full of so much knowledge and everyone was super helpful!

We were planning to be in Great Falls for the week and decided that rather than doing an emergency visit with our regular vet we would take him to see Best Friends because out daughter uses them and is very happy with their service. They got us in on a busy Monday morning and saw him. They were professional and did tests and made recommendations. We received excellent service from them and they followed up the visit with a phone call to check on him. I was very impressed with them.

Best Friends is excellent. My dog tore a ligament in her leg when she was three years old. Dr. Norton reattached it, and she recovered beautifully, no trouble with it since then. They are thorough and attentive whenever we come in for annual check-ups. I wouldnt take my dog anywhere else.

I say with heavy heart that I took my dog there and 4 days later we had to put her down. Seemed like she had an infection or something and 3 days later its not the same dog. Day 4 and she had to go to a better place. I believe they did everything they could but had no idea what was causing the rapid decline in our dog. What really hurts is on day 4 at noon they said our dog could come home at 530. Well at 530 she was shaking, breathing heavy, seemed confused and slobbering all over. They ensured me that in 2 hours this would go away. Well 2 hours later we had to make the tough choice. I dont blame them for her behavior I blame myself for not doing more when I had a chance. I truly believe they did what they could its just so hard when you take your pet for help and they tell you we dont know whats wrong and the ultimate choice has to be made. I wish we would have kept her home longer if this was her fate. We have a family of 5 that is absolutely heart broken and missing everyones best friend. Like I said I truly believe they had her best Interests at heart but Im still so confused as to what caused this. I will never know. Rest in peace Skya.

We arrived here from Texas. Shortly after we found out our English Bulldog Tank had heart worms which is not common in Montana. Doctors at Best Friends work with doctors from Louisiana and Helena to treat tank. In 2014 Tank was healthy and clear of heart worms. We continued care with Best Friends and he was great. He later had a heart condition and they were on it. We lost Tank in May of 2016. We received an annual appointment email which made me tear up. I politely email them and let them know he passed. We recently received a card to console us for our loss. I know this was an lengthy rant but these people are amazing. I have never seen a more involved team of people. We are thankful for the years they gave us with Tank. What an amazing team of people and we are so Thankful

I brought my 8 year old kitty in recently because she was sick and I was unhappy with her previous treatment. Best Friends was recommended by a good friend. I was impressed from my first telephone conversation. I drove over 100 miles with a sick kitty and could not have been more pleased with the care and compassion we both received. My husband and I have three other cats and a dog. I wish we lived closer so we could call Best Friends our sole place for animal care. Your vets and vet techs seem to be top notch and I have enjoyed and had a pleasant experience with all of them. But your receptionist is the most unprofessional individual I have ever spoke to. Doesnt listen to you, you have to repeat yourself 3 to 4 times for her to finally understand and her ability to relay any kind of message is like playing the penguin game. Avoid her as much as you can.

They do excellent work for our exotic family members.

They provided my 6-year-old companion dog with dental cleaning and care, a physical exam, nail-trimming, and vaccinations for $745.00, which seemed pricey to me. Id said to go ahead and extract any teeth that needed to be removed, assuming my dogs mouth was healthy except for some tartar buildup, so I was surprised when I learned they had extracted 6 teeth! My dog was treated very well, and her mouth is healing quickly, so I have no complaints. But, next time Ill ask them to call before doing any expensive procedures.

We love Best Friends. If you want compassionate vets and people who work there, by all means go to Best Friends. Our pets get excellent care and we will not go anywhere else.

The visit was not for the best reason, but the nurse that handled putting our dog down, was nothing short of amazing. She was kind and considerate. Also, billing us for the procedure, as opposed to making us pay right after was a pleasant surprise.

Not a good experience having my animal in emergency care here. Some of the staff were caring but the actual vet along with a few techs left me not understanding what was going on with my animal and made me feel like i was a nuissance.They were overpriced as well. I have found my animals and i a compassionate and reasonably priced vet that also has the knowledge to care for them.

Staff knows their stuff, and arent afraid to let you know it. You will be treated like an idiot because odds are you are. Prices are fair. This is place you take your pets for care done right at the cost of a piece of your soul.

What kindness and care I received even though I was from out of town with no history here! It was on a Saturday when I called histerically as my dogs sutures from a previous surgery had come completely open. They had a full schedule of patients and a winter storm going on. My poor old pup was taken care of with an extreme amount of expertise and caring. Im so grateful, as the reason I was in Great Falls was to deal with a seriously ill family member.Dr. Norton and staff assuaged considerable stress and anxiety for me not only taking care of my pup but to a degree of excellence I have not known with my current Veterinary provider.Thanks for a job well done!!

Best Vet Clinic in Montana...amazing staff and Doctors!

Was very happy with the emergency vet visit my dog go into a porcupine when we were traveling thru Great Falls. Had him in and out within an hour gave him only what he needed and the bill was not to expensive for an emergency visit.

Very unhappy with my service. Brought my dog in to get spayed and they ended up treating her for a condition and never consulted with me about it first. When I went to pick her up they asked for an extra $160 for the treatment that I NEVER gave permission to do. And then has to nerve to tell me that I won’t be able to take my dog home if I didn’t pay. Very unprofessional if you ask me. Not happy at all.

My 7 month old bichon mix puppy went in for neutering and microchip. I was quoted one price for these procedures. Then in the middle of his procedure they call me and asked if i would approve if they could xray his teeth while he was under to see where things were at. He hadnt even had all of his baby teeth until he was over 4 months old since he was the runt of the litter. when a nurse called me back while i was at work and what was initially told to me while he was under....if i would authorize them to pull the baby teeth. long story short they had already pulled his teeth, without our authorization. and our bill was over triple what we were initially quoted. Nurse let it slip by accident. My husband picked up our dog after the multiple procedures and i seriously thought he may die. The office was closed upon my arrival home. Needless to say it was VERY apparent to me they cared more for the $$ they received for his surgery and UNAUTHORIZED procedure then they did my puppy. There was very little communication on follow up care. I tried calling several times the day after my appointment to receive no answer or return phone call, let alone a follow up call to see how my puppy was doing. My pup and future pup will NEVER be seen at this pet facility again and if you love your dog, be prepared for the multiple charges they will ding you for unexpectedly, charges are truly needless and only benefit the owners of the facility, not your pet. If i could leave NO stars i would.

I had to take my cat in later in the evening and ended up having to put her down. Jess was incredible, I can never thank her enough for her kindness.

I have never had a problem with any of the staff. My dog loves hes vet, anytime he had to stay there any length of time he has done great. They always work with me.

My dogs always get treated very well. The girls up front are always smiling and friendly. They understand how stressed someone can be when one of their fur babies has to go to the Vet. I like them

Love these guys! Dr. Norton is awesome! The whole staff is super friendly, caring, and understanding.
