The staff in the office is very nice, apartments look very nice and are very spacious, my roommates and I love the chalk board wall in the kitchen. I like my building and I dont have too many complaints about those who stay in the same building. There is a water damage issue in the kitchen wall that we have been trying to get fixed for months, maintenance on that has been lax. Besides that maintenance requests are typically handled pretty quickly. I personally have enjoyed staying here but I likely will not stay after my lease is up.
If you’re looking for an off campus apartment that’s very close to campus, it’s perfect. I live in a three bedroom with my two friends and it’s very spacious and nice. I love how big the rooms are and how homey the apartment feels. Campus is a two minute drive and honestly the walk isn’t bad. I’ve lived at Spartan Crossing since August and the leasing office staff are very nice, maintenance is 24 hours and easy to get in contact with. The only thing is the electricity is easy to go over the credit and sometimes you can hear your neighbors upstairs. They also don’t offer recycling. Overall, wonderful and I highly recommend living here especially being a uncg student looking for a good apartment off campus with a reasonable price.
A nice apartment for college students. Be sure to stay on them in regards to your issues and they will handle them as requested. Friendly staff and an overall nice neighborhood.
By far the best student housing around. Huge apartments, safe, and have the nicest staff! Maintenance is quick and the office is always extremely welcoming and quick to resolve any issues that you may have!
Great community, beautiful apartment. Prompt response to needs of students and overall understanding people.
I’ve lived here for almost 2 years, and have enjoyed my time. Great size living/kitchen space, huge bathrooms and great closet space. Daphne in the office is awesome, and everyone else is super helpful too! Anytime we’ve had a maintenance issue in our apartment, it’s been fixed quickly and the maintenance guys are really nice! Spacious apartments and friendly staff :)
I loved living at Spartan Crossing! I would highly recommend this community for anyone who is looking for an affordable, quiet and comfortable place to live. Close enough to walk/bike to campus, yet tucked away from the busyness of the college area. Thank you for making my time there great!
This is my first year living year and it’s been really great! Everyone in the office is really helpful and the apartments are really spacious. It’s in a safe area and I haven’t felt unsafe or in any dangerous situations at night! I haven’t ever had an issue with parking. I rarely even park in the parking lot because there’s always street parking. When I do park in the lot there’s always spots. Overall, it’s a great place to live!
I have lived at Spartan Crossing for a couple of years now and I love it! Its in walking distance of UNCG which has been so convenient for me. I highly recommend for any students looking for a great place to live. The office staff are also so helpful and kind!
Overall a good place to live, especially for college students. The staff in the leasing office are really great and helpful, but I’d say my biggest issue when living here was with the apartment utilities as well as maintenance.
My roommate and I came home to find a new air conditioning unit had been installed while we were at school. No one had told us this was going to happen. To make things even better, the air conditioning unit doesn’t work. We are currently sitting in a 93° apartment that we pay $600+ a piece for. We have called maintenance twice to be told that they “only service ac units when it is above 85° outside or daytime.” We were also told to “open the windows and turn on a fan.” Look for an apartment that cares about its residents.
I love living here! But the staff is terrible! One minute they say this and then the next day it’s something completely different.I walked in the office one day to get mail, they asked everybody else that came in did they want some food except me. This made me feel like they did not like the color of my skin.My roommate and I have had a leak that drips every once in a while, 4 maintenance men have looked at it.. do you think anybody fixed it? No.I believe some training on employee etiquette should be highlighted a little more.I also have to pay my rent all up front now because they loose my checks in the mail all the time.
I’ve been a resident in spartan crossing on and off (formerly known as sterling park) since 2015. Used to be such a great place until I was assigned to live in Chapman place building. There’s not enough parking spots for residents, and if you park around the island in the middle of the parking lot, you will get a boot on your car that costs 140 dollars to get off, even though you PAY RENT (600 per bedroom) IN THERE. Spots are filled around 11 pm and you’re expected to move your car by 8 am if you happened to park around the island (because thats a huge convenience for their “valuable” residents) or you will get a boot at your own place. When I took my issue to Pete (the leasing manager) he ignored my e-mail and after I met with him in the office I did not see any compromising on his part even after I got towed for 260 dollars a week after I paid 140 to get my boot removed since I could not park around the building I’m paying to live in.
I enjoyed living here until my roommate who doesnt like me decided to keep reporting me for having guest over. Now the male manager claims he can come into my room at anytime. I do not feel safe anymore.
I believe in honest reviews. I think it is in poor taste that 2 employees reviewed and did not say they were employed here. That makes their opinions biased. Dustin and Jamie have been working for the leasing office for over 2 months now. I am fine with them reviewing if the explicitly state that they work here and give genuine reviews reflecting their stay here and make sure it is very clear that they work for this company.Reply:Pete,When having an employee review a place of business is a good thing their reviews were very short and seemed like they were just simply residents. If you say that that is why they joined the company they need to state that in their reviews. I would question if their reviews are basis or not. Both reviews happens after more than a mouth of their employment not before. Making me questioned their basis even more.
Spartan crossing is the best! The staff is so kind and helpful! My room and living room are very spacious. The apartment is close to school as well as sheets and Jakes which is great!
Excellent place to live. The staff is amazing, especially Victoria. They respond to requests in a very timely manner. Great amenities!!
I have lived here for almost 3 years. I have never had any issues and love how close it is to UNCG while still being away from the craziness of school! I have had at least 2 of my friends sign a lease because of how much they loved my place
This is one of the best apartment complexes I have lived in while being in Greensboro. From the start, the office staff is very helpful and easy to work with. They were willing to help with any questions or issues I had moving in and throughout living there. The apartment itself was up to date and very nice. The only thing that did not seem to work when I first moved in was the dishwasher, but the Spartan Crossing maintenance guys were there within the week and had it fixed like new. Would definitely recommend this place over any other student housing I have lived in. (i.e. University Village, Student Quarters)
Internet has been out for two weeks, was promised a pool and gym when we moved in (12 months ago) which is why I decided to live here, however neither the pool nor rec center has been completed thus far. Poor construction and it seems the owners of this complex are more concerned with the bottom line rather than the safety and comfort of their tenants. I feel cheated by this complex.
I love the apartment but the parking is terrible... today is my 2nd time having to pay for either a ticket or getting a boot off of my car because I didnt have ANYWHERE else to park my car in the parking lot I paid for a parking pass for. I think its unfair college students that we have to even pay this much money to even fix the situations. I am livid.
This is a great, quiet community. although it’s student housing, it feels like a conventional apartment. it’s super convenient that my washer and dryer are in unit. i’ve renewed for next year and plan on continuing to renew here.
I absolutely love my room and my apartment. Maintenance always comes at a convenient time and gets the job done right the first time. Staff is always a pleasure to talk to and always helps me when I need something. The grounds are so pretty and conveniently located right near UNCG which is perfect walking distance for me.
Great living experience! Office staff is super friendly and maintenance requests are taken care of very quickly. Decent size living space and parking has never been an issue. Definitely recommend!
I moved in August of 2017 and have enjoyed living here since. Ive already renewed my lease for the coming year knowing there is no other place I would rather stay. The staff try their best to help any situations and are always kind and welcoming when entering the office. I enjoy the spacious bedrooms and private bathroom, plus large closet space which is great for me because I have way too many clothes but all fits in there perfectly. If there are ever any technical issues in the apartment they are always fixed by maintenance as soon as possible usually by the next day. I cant think of anywhere else I would rather live while Im in Greensboro!
By far the best student apartment complex in Greensboro. I absolutely love staying here! The staff is AMAZING and super professional!
Warning. These people will take your $30.00 application fee knowing you dont meet their income requirements. I made sure to give them proof of income BEFORE filling out application. Got a letter saying they require co-signers to make 6x the rent in income per month. They should have told me that before taking my money. Shady.
This is my first semester at NCAT and living in Greensboro. So I haven’t been at Chapman Place for long, but I would like to thank the Burkley Community staff for helping me through the long process of getting things done... Especially Ms. Victoria Dunston, she has helped me tremendously over the last 2 weeks in making my transition here, wether it was over the phone or when I came to the leasing office. Thank you so much!
I am a resident here, but my car got towed from the parking lot. Borrowing a car from family since I moved in about a month ago, I got my car back and had simply forgotten to transfer the parking sticker to my car. A week later and soon after realizing this (and literally in the middle of the night), my car is towed - costing me $165 and an uber fee to get there. And after explaining this to the front office, all Im told is theres nothing that we can do for you; the rules are the rules? Yes, this is true. It is a rule, and technically there is nothing from my knowledge that you legally have to do. But I believe that you do own the lot, so lets not say that there is nothing that you can do (when you make the rules to begin with). And I do believe that you have a responsibility to listen to and support your residents. Lesson from this story - Dont ever count on the front office to bend their back and go out of their way for you (their resident, who pays them over $500/month) or to show any kind of understanding whatsoever. Oh yeah, and did I mention that the lot is hardly ever even half full, and at the time of the tow, it was spring break for many colleges in the area, so it was less than 1/4 full. So to say all of this is for the money is a vast understatement (especially when so many cars park on the side of the street in bad areas, creating blind spots and dangerous situations. So yes, lets tow the car that is parked illegally in a far less than full parking lot who is not causing a problem and in the end, actually lives there). I guess in the end its really my mistake though, thinking that other people might have an ounce of understanding and the ability and willingness to show that. But thats okay Spartan Crossing. How could I blame you for being in it for the money as well? Other than that though, no big complaints. Roomy. Not a bad location. Not too bad looking. And my room smelled of cigarette smoke for the first month and it took a week to fix a dryer
Graduated from UNCG a few years ago and wish the current spartan crossing staff was there during that time. What a friendly and professional group of people. Especially Victoria. She’s so eager to help, knows her job very well, and always goes above and beyond!
About Spartan Crossings... overall, its very much just an average place to live. Ive lived here from Aug 2018 to July 2019, & my experience here has been just okay, neither good nor bad!(+) the POSITIVE things:1st, the folks in the leasing office are extraordinary!!! I can always count on them to answer any questions and help me out! They are organized & well managed!2nd, most of their buildings are far enough off of the main road that its very quiet & private!! And the folks living in this complex have also been very respectful & quiet nearly 100% of the time!3rd, its close enough to the school that you could walk, bike, or take a quick bus ride! The complex is also very close to multiple food options & stores.4th, the rooms & bathrooms are fairly spacious, and the common spaces are definitely generous! I had alot of furniture & everything fit nicely!(-) the NEGATIVE things:1st, most of the buildings are old, out-dated, & my building in particular (the 1811 building) had a bad smell to it. The walls are cracked from where the building settled & the exterior corridors are dirty.2nd, **my personal opinion** the complex is not worth the rent amount!! & rates are only going up from here. All in all, I was happy to have chosen Spartan Crossings over many of the other student apartment choices!! & its been an easy & pleasant experience living here. So among the other student living options, I would say Spartan Crossings isnt half bad!
I’ve been staying at spartan crossing for two years now and I wish I would’ve have stayed elsewhere, without all of the drama. The office staff: some are helpful most are not. A few of them are rather rude as well. They would rather rush you out of the office with incorrect information rather than find out what you actually need. Most times I just preferred reaching out to upper management to get my issues settled. The office staff makes it seem as if you are bothersome, so I tried to stay out of there as much as possible.Maintenance- I can’t remember his name but the main black guy and his sons are very nice and helpful. They even helped shovel my car out the snow, after the snowplow person (that the office hired) pushed all the snow behind everyone’s car. Making it near impossible to back out of the spaces. They should have emergency maintenance- I was expected to live without a properly working toilet and electricity (separate occasions) for the entire weekend.Living space- The living spaces were pretty nice, I got a big bedroom and nice sized bathroom. However there was some sort of large rodent living above my bedroom, I could hear it scratching and nesting. When I approached the office about it seemed as if they didn’t believe and took a few days to get someone out there to check. Had persistent conflict with roommates, I suggest finding your own roommates to avoid bad matching. I paid for cable and internet which is included in your rent, however the whole two years I NEVER HAD CABLE in my bedroom. Called office and spectrum multiple times and never received an adequate help. The WiFi was garbage and hardly worked, most of the time it was just easier to use hotspot instead!Overall It just isn’t the best place to stay, I suggest staying elsewhere. Once you sign that lease your stuck with it, they will not work with you at all. They only seem concerned with getting their money every month regardless of any situation that may occur. They will not help you find a sublet, and their credit score/income requirements are so unattainable for the typical college student, that you most likely will not find one.UPDATE: I have all of the emails where I reached out to management about all of my issues. As well as the phone records. As well as the many times I have been in the office. I also sent this in an email to the owner Pete Cato before posting this review and I received no response until his comment below. Glad to be done with place, and on to better places. BEWARE COLLEGE STUDENTS, it’s funny how helpful management tries to be when their is four weeks left in your two year lease.
This is the WORST apartment I’ve ever stayed in. First day- They gave me a stained old mattress, it looked like they took it out the garbage and put it in my room. They gave me a broken head board with the torn block of wood +screws and left them in my night stand drawer, like I was supposed to fix it. Missing furniture that I had to remind them about every week. And keep in mind I was paying for the furniture monthly even though they were damaged or missing.I notified them about all these issues and they didn’t care. I called every week (multiple times) to remind them about my maintenance requests and they said the same bs every time. They didn’t fix my bed/mattress until months later. so I couldn’t even sleep in the apartment until I at least got a new mattress, which was MONTHS later. A MESS. If I could give em zéro stars i would!Oh and the walls were a mess from the previous ppl who stayed there & they don’t keep It well maintained for their new residents. Horrible WiFi and cable.
I was highly disappointed with this apartment complex. First, the cable was completely unreliable as well as the wifi. On move in day I was given a wifi network for my specific apartment number with a password but it never worked. Even after calling spectrum, I was transferred between lines for over an hour and they still could not fix my wifi. When I spoke to the office, they kept referring me to spectrum, which was a dead end. I had to use the spartancrossingwifi which was completely unreliable. There would be periods of no internet service for days, which made it difficult to do my school work or even use my TV .Also, my biggest issue is their price increase. Even though i didnt renew my lease before the price increased, It is ridiculous and not worth what youre getting. They doubled the price of bedroom furniture per month as well as rent & it would now cost me $635 a month to live here, without any living room furniture either. For this price you might as well move to the province or UV, cause at least EVERYTHING comes furnished and its cheaper! Also, this apartment was poorly cleaned or fixed, the walls had stains and were peeled. The model apartment looks nothing like what youre getting. I was extremely disappointed the day I walked in, I wish i never signed my lease and stayed on campus. Also, during the tour last summer, I was told that the gym and the pool would be completed by october 2018. Its now JULY 2019 and the pool still isnt even done and the fitness center JUST opened.
This company provides the worst service, its been two month, one of the resident in my building make noise every night but the leasing office done nothing. I am so regret to choice this place.
Did not care for this apartment at all.It doesnt come with furniture and you have to pay an extra monthly fee to rent some. It is obviously that they havent remodeled in years when you enter a unit. We had problems with our refrigerator and stove my entire stay. They also are very serious about parking, will tow you or your friends car so always have your friends park on the street. They also dnt have a gym or pool onsite which is something that is standard at most complexes.
Pete & Emily were very helpful 👍🏼
My experience with Spartan Crossing was alright. The apartment was very spacious with appliances and internet/cable that worked. Office staff are courteous, friendly, and prompt in responding to issues; maintenance staff are also friendly, but not so prompt. We had trouble one time with the washing machine and it was fixed. However, it took them over a month to fix the problem. They only had one maintenance person at the time even though it was the beginning of the lease (a lot of leases/everyone’s lease begins in August; there will be a lot of calls in August). We also had trouble with the A/C during a heat wave and that took 1-2 weeks to fix.The areas surrounding my apartment were not maintained very well. The hallways and stairwells of my building were cleaned one time at the beginning of my lease, and have been disgusting ever since. The bridge leading to the second parking lot regularly has a broken/breaking board. The creek below the bridge normally has trash in it.The neighbors in my building had cops called on them multiple times, usually noise complaints for parties on Saturday nights. (I honestly never heard the noise inside my apartment, but they were on the other end of the building.) Another time the cops brought out the drug dogs and tried to arrest a couple of people for dealing.Warning for those that will live at 1811 Brice: the neighbors across the road get in huge arguments that can last for hours. There will be screaming matches until one of them gets tired and decides to get in the pickup truck and lay on the horn over and over again for 30+ minutes. People have also called the cops on them multiple times. I realize this is out of the control of Spartan Crossing staff and am in no way blaming them for this. However, waking up at 3-4 a.m. to the horn blaring and screaming is annoying and ruins your sleep the night before *insert important assignment here*.The apartment living quality is pretty high for student apartments that close to UNCG’s campus. The price isn’t outrageous either, although they could put the money to good use by renovating the units. Overall, my time at Spartan Crossing was not a bad experience, but it also was not a great one.
I’ll spare details because I do not want to type an entire novel. Just do not move here. I hated everything about my experience renting with them this last year and a half. DO NOT MOVE HERE.
The staff is extremely helpful and the grounds are nice
Pete and Emily were completely useless, internet won’t work and no help when my burner didn’t work
Was not informed potential roommate has numerous warnings to not smoke in apartment despite daughter being allergic to cigarette smoke. Smoker was nasty also.
