Way too expensive ($40 gel manicure not including tip), and the paint isn’t even, it’s bumpy. Still skin all around my nails, poor job. She also cut me while removing cuticles, didn’t remove the blood, then used the stock pre-polish that is used on everyone. Pretty sure this is a violation of acceptable guidelines based on contamination/blood borne pathogens. Go literally ANYWHERE else.
Peaceful atmosphere. Great friendly service always.
Absolutely perfect. My coworker gets her nails done here and Ive always loved her perfect neutral manicure. Ms Ngan got me in right away even though I was late for my appointment and was so thorough, she checked the shape of my nails multiple times. I usually have a problem when I ask for a short almond, theyre usually too rounded or too long, but Ngan made them perfect. I also loved that while she was doing the actual dip nails that she made sure my nails wouldnt come out bumpy or oddly shaped when looking at them from the side. Wonderful salon!
So I’ve been here several times before for manicures before with no real issues, but today I went just to get a simple gel color change and had the worst experience. Not only did the woman tell me to just choose a basic color and that I shouldn’t be so picky, she didn’t fully remove the bright color from the mail in the first place so when finished with my new nude nail application, there was still bright blue on the edges and underneath :/ going out of my way to head back in the same day to get this fixed, she made it a big deal and didn’t even fix it completely. This was a $33 service? Will not be back.
The owner named, Chau, gave me a fantastic Manicure. The service was excellent. I saw other people who said not such nice things. But, I can tell you that I do NOT accept sub-par service and Chau did an excellent job. The price is the going rate and they are open in the middle of a Pandemic! The salon is beautiful. I am glad I go here and I highly recommend it.
I got there around 6... they close at 7 but the sign on the door states that they take customers up until 7:30pm.... I walk I. With my daughter and was asked to come back tomorrow.....Even though they were still open.... I will not be coming back here ever again.... so no you won’t see me tomorrow!!!!!!!!
Good job!
I have not been to this salon in a while because I moved but I stopped by the salon tonight to get a gel polish change. My experience tonight was so horrible. The technician was rude and rough with my hands; twisting and squeezing my fingers very hard. I asked her if she could lighten up on the pressure and she became irritated and continued with an attitude. She filed my nails slanted and when I asked her if it could be corrected she gave me the file so I could fix it myself; which I did. She was so annoyed with me that she didn’t even finish my nails. She sat at the last desk by the pedicure area and she was just really mean spirited and extremely aggressive. I don’t know if she was having a bad day but I did let her know that I was dissatisfied with her service. I also informed the manager because I was just so insulted. When I told the technician she looked at me with fire in her eyes, rolled her eyes and then stared at me like if she could slap me she would-lol. If you want to be disrespected, man-handled, and made to feel like the technician is doing you a favor; this is the place to go!I gave two stars instead of one because the manager and the owner are very sweet women! I hope they hire new technicians with better customer service skills.
Nice salon except the pricing is not great over priced and I think I got athletes foot :( will not be getting service from them again.
I recently became a client of Avalon after a coworker recommended the salon to me. The salon I typically visit tends to be a bit noisy and has heavy traffic. Avalon has quite the opposite atmosphere. I find the prices are a bit higher than my usual nail salon, but the tranquility is better. I only come here if I want to treat myself, as it is further away from my home and costs a bit more. However, the customer service and atmosphere there are great. It was comforting to watch the nail specialist open a sealed package of tools before giving me a pedicure. This never happens at my usual nail salon, though I notice they do have actual sterilizer machines in a corner of the salon. Its these little touches that make me feel comfortable as a client at Avalon Nail Salon.
I have been a customer multiple times and I have never felt the need to complain despite their subpar service. I went to get my nails done a couple of days ago and I wanted to get acrylic and I repeatedly explained to the technician what I wanted and even showed her pictures. She was extremely rude and dismissive the whole time I was trying to reiterate what I wanted. Despite my many efforts to let her know that I wanted them to look a certain way, after she put the nail polish on, my nails looked really thick. I let her know of this and instead of acknowledging the problem and seeing if she can fix it, she blamed me and said I should have told her that she didnt file it thin enough. I have never had to tell the other nail techs there how to do my acrylics before so her comments threw me off. If I show you a picture of how its done isnt that enough explanation? and where do you get off blaming the customer? I had to go elsewhere, spend more money to get it fixed.. It took the other nail tech 30 minutes to file my acrylics down because of how thick they were. I am never returning to this sorry of an excuse place and I will be sure to let friends whom Ive referred to stay away as well. I have ignored the stark difference in which they treat their white vs black customers and the overall rudeness of ALL the nail technicians but I have had enough. Especially if youre black, take your money elsewhere.
They do an excellent job on both manicures and pedicures
Let’s be real, you can’t expect a nail salon in a mall to be all that great. However this place exceeded my expectations. Normally the same people work there. I had a young girl probably around 18-20 years old I’d say. She was pretty rough with my hands, but the nails themselves were great and a cheap price for acrylic and gel. They lasted a long time and the glue didn’t pop off like it usually does by other salons. For what your paying, the nails were fine, if you are looking for experience, go to a larger name brand salon.
We went as a group prior to a wedding and they did a really great job with both pedicure and manicure. I had French nails in hands using geland was very happy with the results.
A very poor job for a premium priced salon! I was very dissatisfied. Both my manicure and pedicure polish looked awful. The technician seemed rushed to move on to another client. Sorry I would not recommend this salon.
I brought my nieces and daughter. we had a lovely experience and i particularly loved my stylist, Sophia. however, after paying for a gel main for myself and my older niece, i expected it to last more than 12 hours. my nieces cracked. i called and asked for a gift certificate (literally 2 min prior to writing this). the answer is no. I need to bring her in. I am getting on a plane in 12 hours and cannot get her there. there policy is if they need to make sure it isnt wear and tear to fix it. again it has been less than 12 hours since she had it done. how much wear and tear can there be? I am very upset as I played a lot of money for this. the place is pricier than I am used to. I live in MA so Im used to pricey but this was more than I expected. would love to give a better recommendation but i am fuming over this callupdate. nails done Friday night. here is my gel manicure Sunday at 8:30. sorry. cant add pic but 1/2 off thumb
They treated my best friend with such disrespect and she was a regular customer. Judging by the horrible reviews and their lack of change, it doesnt seem like they really care whats being said. Take your business elsewhere.
I had a gift certificate, so I tried it out. I wont be back. The place was not relaxing. My pedicures usually easily last me a month, and within 2 weeks, I was seeing wear on my pedicure. It was pricey, too.
The price I was quoted by phone was not the one I was told I needed to pay when I got there (NO service change), so I adjusted to the tip accordingly. The quality of the manicure was just average certainly not what I get from my regular manicurist in another state. My polish coatings were much thinner than I usually get. You should never have to add coats of polish to a manicure that cost over $50!
Nice place and great friendly service. Careful technicians who take their time.
This was my first experience at a nail salon. My Specalist was very nice. I had a Paraffin Manicure. The experience was excellent and the paraffin treatment was very relaxing. Total was $27 for a 30 min experience.
Sooooo disappointing. My wife went in to get her nails done a specific way and color. She says the tech kept telling her they couldnt do it the way she wanted, and so my wife and daughter got their nails done the way the tech wanted to do them. Very basic and plain. Then paid $109 for just the 2 ladies. These nails looked good, but very generic. Wife came home and put the designs that she wanted on her nails. Tech couldnt even put glitter or sparkles. Def not worth the price. Next time I will paint their nails the way they actually want and only charge $50. Not giving them any more of our hard earned money.
I contracted a toe nail infection from them giving me a pedicure. The nail technician was digging into the side of my toe and kept asking if I was “okay?” Clearly she knew what she was doing was not best practice if she had to keep asking me that question. Now I have a toenail infection in that toe.Never going back here. Also very overpriced for average nail service.
Terrible. Ill never spend another dime in this place. I got there at 6:32 and online it says they close at 9. Told the technician (Lisa) this was my first time there and I wanted to get liquid gel set. She said okay and once she got her station set she tried to talk me out of liquid gel to get powder. I told her I know what I like and I want a liquid gel set. She said okay and the entire time she was doing my nails she was yanking my hand down. She rushed when drying the gel on my nails and made me hit my hand under the drying light when she switched it to the other hand. My nails look bubbly and to top it all off she had the nerve to hand me her card and say come again and next time maybe make an appointment. Ill be damned if I ever go back. Please dont waste your time or money.
0 is what I rate this shop. I went to this nail shop for the first time to be told that they didnt have anyone there that could do a gel nail fill in I have never been told that by any other nail shops so, I went to another nail shop not far away and received great service. I can say that they will never get my business.
While I was satisfied with my nails I was extremely displeased with the service. I did come 30 minutes before closing and I was rushed. When I politely asked the technician to make a change to one of my nails; she gave me attitude. She replied you shouldve told me that before I moved on. This business does not have a customer come first mindset. I even attempted to make small talk to lighten the mood. However they were all far from friendly. Ive spent less and received higher quality and much better service.
Will definitely be going back friendly fast and very professional
I have been visiting this shop for 2 years. I have diabetes, and the women who work on my hands and feet take special care not to overdo my mani/pedi. In addition, I received my first gel manicure from them last week -- it is still fresh and perfect. My nail shape is perfect. Furthermore, every person I have worked with in this shop has been professional and pleasant. I have been to other shops in the area and got nowhere near such nice service. Of course, I dont drop in right before they are closing. I dont ask for services they do not offer. I recognize that these are human beings trying to do a job to the best of their ability within the policies of their company. For that, I will always thank them.
The atmosphere is clean and well put together that was great but as a nail wearer my nails have to have a certain standard look. My nails werent shaped the all the same but the lady was nice and took her time. A week later Im noticing the nails that she have done for are just breaking. And no Im not hitting them or being rough. Im talking getting in my car and one would crack. Cooking one another one would crack. I NEVER crack my nails rarely!!! This was my second time trying Avalon. So I went back and told them the situation. They questioned me a lot asking if I was rough or not and I told them the honest God truth. My roommate went with me on the same day as well. She experienced the same exact problem. It was painful for her because when they broke her real nails would crack. She had to wear band aids on her fingers until they grew back :( Back the story lol they repaired all three for 5 dollars which was good since the fault was on them. Its been 2 days and guess what ? Another broken finger nail. I paid to much money because they are somewhat pricey to be going through this. Long story short, go somewhere else!!!!!!
My service was terrible, and all I got done was a refill! The nail tech was rude, but then again everyone in there seemed rude. She was definitely rushing the service too! Then she got on her personal cell phone and was missing spots on my nails while she was painting the color on. And she still got a tip, no thank you, she didnt even say anything when I walked out. Really disappointed. This was my first and last time. Highly recommend going somewhere else that will appreciate the customer.
Great place for a mani/pedi! Nice art work also!
Ooooo yikes. Really really poor job. I had to re-do my toes afterwards and Im really not even picky. I went with 4 other girls and we were all pretty disappointed.
I only gave 1 star so that I could review. I went there 2 days ago and I am ashamed of the appearance of my nails. They did not offer SNS and improvised with acrylic and gel polish. The gel polish on my thumbs peeled the same day and now I only have 4 fingers left that have not peeled. I work with the public and my hands are visible at all times and I am embarrassed to do any presentations today. Im not even certain I have enough confidence in them to return to have them attempt to fix my nails.
I went 2x to this salon because the first time I tried they told me there was “no more time”’in the evening to do my nails. (I came 1hr before close) I came back to try the next day, I really needed a fill and this was the closest salon to my work. I asked for a pink gel fil with an almond shape and I was told it was an extra $5 for The shape because it was “too hard to do” I told her to just do any shape other than square that wouldn’t cost me an additional upcharge. My shape and lengths were uneven and I pointed out how off the middle fingers were in length and she said it was my fault bc that nail had a chip on the side when I came in. I told her to just make the other one shorter to match it (duh?) she struggled hard to do a French on a round shape and at the end told me “it was too hard, and she did her best” I appreciate her effort- but if she wasn’t comfortable why not just have someone finish the French who was? I had multiple breaks and overall was sloppy and overpriced. Wont go back.
The services were amazing and cant ask for more. A great place to go with groups.
A nice break from boring and repetitive.
I enjoy getting my spa services here...it is a relaxing and quiet spa and the women always make sure I have what I need and take care of me!
Went in to get a gel french manicure. One of my nails ended up peeling off only a few hours after I left, which was particularly disappointing since my manicure was a birthday treat to myself. I went back the next day hoping they would fix it. The manicurist ended up just slapping new polish over the chipped area, resulting in a bumpy unfinished look on my nail. When I pointed this out to the manicurist she basically told me it was my fault for chipping it and breaking my nail and that there was nothing else she could do. Gel nails should last at least 2 weeks! My fixed nail ended up chipping again and peeling off the next day, 3 days later at least 4 of my other nails started peeling off. Never going there again.
Gel polished peeled off after 4 days. Went back for them to fix it and it was very sloppily done (uneven edges, missed spots). I will not be back.
I got a pedicure and french manicure done for a friends wedding. While the staff was very nice, I couldnt say the same for the mani and pedi quality. Within 24 hours, my french manicure is chipping and cracking. My pedicure is also cracking and flaking off. After spending $50 total, I was sorely disappointed with the quality.
Worst gel manicure Ive had, the polish is uneven near the cuticles and just looks sloppy. I tried this place because they were open late but will now be returning to La Vie Nails - they are awesome!
Awesome waxing services. They are the best
I have been going there for years!
The worst place ever walked in for a full set was treated very rudely and was told they did not have time even though they close at 9pm and it was only 8:15pm. I see why they only have 2.9 stars..
Love the service here!
Do no go to if youre black, spend your coins else where sis
Ive been going for 7+ years. Ask for Susan!
I get my nails done every two weeks, this week I have had to get them done twice in 3 days, terrible service, bad looks and ripped off my sister by upcharging $10 for cuticles after she denied the service numerous times.
