We moved in here last October. It’s generally a pretty quiet apartment complex. Maintenance is VERY responsive. The office personnel are sweet and always nice they offer plenty of activities and amenities here are wonderful. We very much enjoy the pool and the gym. There is a trail to walk a dog park basketball and tennis courts and volleyball and a fire pit. They have a great cookout area I. The pool area the complex is pretty secure though not a gated community. Most all the people are very nice a diverse population and really a welcoming atmosphere. The pricing is quite reasonable as well. A really nice place to call home.

I was here for about 8 months are really enjoyed my stay here. If youre someone who enjoys a fire in the winter, at least some of the units here have REAL fireplaces that you can ACTUALLY use! That was one of the reasons I leased my apartment here. Another one was the awesome picture window that gave me a great view of the outside world while I was cooped up inside working remote during COVID (God rest its soul!). On top of all of this, the office staff was always VERY responsive and more than willing to help out. While I was here the staff helped me print several documents since I dont have a printer. Last but not least, they recently set up a nicely equipped workout room that I took advantage of while I as here. Great location (near Southpoint Mall) and easy to get to I-40. And the final kicker is the price is quite competitive.

Lived here for 9-months. When we moved here there were broken drawers in the kitchen, mildew on all windows, and roaches. Parking was so busy and I would have to park 3 buildings down. Questionable residents made it unsafe to walk at night. Called roughly a dozen times before moving out to make sure we wouldnt receive any unexpected charges and that the apartment was up to code so we could get our security deposit back. Arium is still trying to charge us for a broken blind 4 months later despite the fact that we have pictures when we left that nothing was broken. In addition, they are now telling us we did not pay a security deposit. I have sent email receipts confirming we chose the $500 refundable security deposit we chose and paid for. Office and billing department has been unresponsive to our disputes. We were told a manager who could handle our problem would call us on 3-4 different occasions and we still havent heard anything.

The units are good quality. The maintenance office has a quick turnaround when I submit a ticket to come service my unit. The leasing office staff are professional. Ive been living here since 2019 and I have no major complaints recently renewed my lease for over 12 months. I love the location because its really close to Southpoint, grocery stores, restaurants and I-40 highway. The leasing office can improve in their responsiveness. I often have to send more than one email to get a response to a topic.

Where do I begin. My wife and I lived here for a year and some change. Things were great for the first 8 months or so and then things went down hill. Someone was shot and trash is just being left all in the parking lot. This is not the best place to live at all, plus theres a ton of pot in the neighborhood too and I know quite a few people in the same boat who are tired of it there too.

UNBELIEVABLE POOR RESPONSE from the front desk staff. On multiple occasions (window service request, exit tour request, exterior cleaning request, and even now mail difficulty), despite multiple attempts at contact, a minimum of three messages left on voicemail, at least one email per request, and between five days to now two weeks for the latest attempt at contact, the front desk remains completely unresponsive. Despite that, I have received emails from the front desk regarding their needs, which tells me they are clearly present, just not available. And when the inevitable consequences for the lack of contact come to light, the blame for the failure is somehow deflected onto me (standing there in person while watching someone tell the maintenance that I FAILED TO SCHEDULE EXIT TOUR was unappreciated). Expect them to contact you at their whimsy and utterly fail you when you have needs.

Unfortunately, the lack of management communication and follow through is deplorable! I have lived here for 5 months...it started well. The aesthetics of my apartment are wonderful! However, it stops there. I am having major plumbing problems in my master bathroom - flush the toilet, the sink gurgles. Shower backs up and toilet gurgles. Plumbers came out and said the pipes are broken due to roots. This was a known issue, based on neighbors and previous tenant that were never fixed. That semi-resolution took over 2 weeks and escalating to cooperate. Actual on-site property manager has yet to respond by email, call or care in the least! We had a home invasion in the complex and my car was broken into within a couple weeks later. I emailed asking why were we not notified, and she told me to look at my lease about security and that it was my responsibility. She said they can’t help neighbor gossip. I have asked for a copy of my lease...they can’t produce, or even answer the question. While the apartments are pretty, unless they change on-site management...I would steer clear!! $1,300/month should be spent on an apartment management that cares!!!

I lived at Arium for a year and just terminated my lease early because it was such a disaster. First, the apartments are not well renovated. Our floors were literally slanted. They came to screen in our porch and didnt do it right so there was a huge hole at the top of the screen (whats the point of a screen if bugs get in...?) There was black mold growing on the ceiling of the bathroom. I called maintenance to fix it and they said they couldnt do anything about it but it was fine. The place has zero noise reduction. When my downstairs neighbors would close their door I heard it kids crying I heard, yelling, jumping, you name it. Not to mention they dont have a clean environment or nonsmoking clause in their lease. So the kicker- a neighbor moved in who smoked nonstop- weed cigs etc. Our clothes started to smell, our pots and pans, it wafted into our apt at all times and we were working from home. It was incessant. I emailed Arium and they said they would handle it and nothing changed. I asked if they would give us a break getting out of our lease and they didnt respond. So we left. But before that- the amenities were closed our entire year living there, I lost three packages (delivered to the office and I never got them) AND as I was moving out someone in our complex stole two packages off my front porch. It was truly the worst place I have ever lived. Management never responded to the many times I called or emailed them about lost packages and the stolen ones. And when we moved out WE had to ask THEM what to do wrt covid move-out protocols. They said if we didnt call before the lease end date we would be charged- had they not told us that we would have been charged without knowing!! Their communication sucks, management such a, maintenance wasnt nice (once I asked them to help with something small while they were outside our apartment and they looked up and me and said that sounds like your problem). The ONLY positive of this complex is the location. But seriously dont do it.

The management in the leasing office does not know how to properly communicate with residents. Since the ownership change, there has been nothing but issues in regards to property maintenance, residents concerns/problems, and safety. It was a mistake to renew my lease with this company, and I know many of my neighbors feel the same. If you are looking for a new apartment and are considering Arium, I would advise you to look elsewhere and save yourself the time and trouble.

The closet space is amazing as well as the cabinets in the kitchen. Spacious bedrooms and bathrooms. The finishing touches on the apartment really make it. Fixtures, crown molding, etc.The upkeep on this community is by far the best. The beautiful landscaping and the cleanliness are unlike any other community I have lived in. It is so quiet here, you would never know you are right off 54. You can walk to just about anything you would ever need. The maintenance staff here....if it were possible to give them 10 stars I would. Seems like the maintenance staff now are random people hired off of the street. most of them are rude and unfriendly including the office staff. I recently moved this summer bc it was getting so bad. Prices are way too high for whats being offered, Neighbors on the floor above stomping all night and day, dogs barking all times during the day and night, dog poop not being picked up, trash always over flowing, the list goes on. My husband and I have lived here for about 3 months and have had a very good experience so far. We signed a lease without even seeing the property because they have a 3 pet policy and many places around here limit you to 2 pets and we were in desperate need of a place to live!We love:- The kind staff (front desk and maintenance)- The wooded feel of the complex- The beautiful pool area- The quietness of the community- Affordability of the rent- Large windows in all of the rooms- Lockable Storage unit out on patio- Plenty of easy parking- Proximity to I-40, 54 and tons of restaurants!Less preferred things:- The wall color! All of the walls are painted the same beige/brown color. I really dislike it! You are allowed to paint the walls (as long as you prime them white before you move out). We painted our sons nursery, but didnt feel like it was worth the effort to paint any other room. Wish they would update this color to a better neutral.- Countertops (bathrooms and kitchens) are not stone. Cabinets are somewhat outdated.- Entire apartment is carpeted (other than bathrooms and kitchen). Would prefer more of the space to be wood/wood laminate.- Wish the workout facilities were a bit bigger.

This is, by far, the best apartment complex that I have ever lived in! Before I moved in I was traveling the country and took a leap of faith by signing a lease here without being able to tour the apartment. I have no regrets. Ive lived here for nearly a year now and have already renewed my lease for another year. The property is absolutely beautiful, especially in the spring time when the flowers bloom. The pool area is one of the nicest that Ive seen and has a bar area with gas grills (which is super convenient!). It also has some really nice shaded areas so that you dont get sunburned sitting directly in the sun for hours. The office staff is truly phenomenal. Theyre the perfect mix of professional and personal. Last summer they arranged a week of resident appreciation events where they had giveaways, ice cream, food trucks, etc. It was really thoughtful, well organized, and a lot of fun.The location is convenient to I40 and south point, which has been very nice. Its a safe area and theres a lot of really great restaurants just right across the street. The apartments are nice and the price is on par with the rest of Durham, which is growing exponentially. My bathroom is a little outdated and could use a new tub and possibly a new toilet, but everything else has been completely renovated. The kitchen has granite counter tops and new, dark wood cabinets. I think my favorite part has to be the laundry room- its so nice to have a separate area for the washer and dryer.I would highly recommend this apartment complex to anyone looking in the Durham area.

I lived in this complex several years before Arium took over. Some things have improved but some things are being managed poorly. For example, there is no way for residents to know if they have a package or not. This was particularly problematic during the holiday season when residents might have been receiving packages as gifts they did not know to expect. Additionally, residents are not allowed to pay rent by check anymore (only online) and that seems to be a violation of our lease which was not renegotiated.

All of the online options charge a fee and they refuse to take checks. STAY AWAY.I left a 5 star review for the previous management company but this new company is horrible. My apartment is pretty old and small so the reason for my 5 star review was mostly how well the grounds are kept and how wonderful the people in the office were. All of the people in the office changed and the new people are unprofessional and no one knows what’s going on. They give you inaccurate information and then won’t stand by it. They changed the office hours. They’re already jacking the rent up way higher than what the previous company charged. Copper Mill was a great place to live. The transition to new management has been very rocky. Very little communication about new management in the first place, no more package notifications, maintenance doesn’t fix light fixtures or anything anymore. Overall communication with residents isn’t nearly as good as it was under Bell management. Landscaping also seems to have fallen off a bit. Finally I had to renew my lease in the midst of the management change, and the new management told me that they would uphold the renewal lease pricing that was discussed with the old management, not disclosing that the prices that ARIUM offered were lower. I had to research to find this out before renewing my lease. I would recommend doing some thorough research before signing anything!

Wow, looks like I am not alone in my feelings toward towards the new management.I have been a resident for 8 years by choice-- the advantages of renting and living here outweighed the option of buying. It has been that good: great location, well-kept grounds, quiet, reasonable rent and great management.New management is a complete joke. This is where a great property takes a dramatic turn for the worse. They also raised rent over 10% for 12 month and $60 for 15 month. In their letter, the manager states these prices are only good for *14 days* and are reevaluated based on daily changes. This is sketchy for so many reasons.

Not the middle of nature per se, but still nice.- The pool was more luxurious feeling than some other apartment complexes Ive rented at.- Rather close by I40 as well as grocery stores. Not so good:- I really cant think of any. This is our third year living at copper mill apartments and I have been getting very frustrated with the management. The apartment is nice looking, spacious and well priced and I love the pool, it’s beautiful, but the grounds are much more poorly maintained than they used to be. The area in front of my building is a dirt patch, the walking path through the woods is rutted and eroded and most importantly the pool has been closed for weeks in the middle of summer. It was honestly a huge part of my decision to sign on through the summer and I feel like I am paying for an amenity that we don’t have access to. As with all their maintenance projects no one can give me an explanation of why they are doing this now or what the timeline is. As a long time resident I have grown very frustrated with the monthly notes attached to my door insisting I clear some inconvenient area of my apartment or lock up my dog and make the entire apartment available to them. This can be very difficult with a dog, a baby and a husband who works at night and is trying to sleep during the day. It wouldn’t be such a hardship except they usually only give you one days notice and they have never come at the date or time we are told. If you call the office you just get some explanation of how it is out of their control and they can’t tell you when someone will come. These may seem like minor issues but will wear on you after living here for a while.

Change of management has taken this property on a turn for the worse. Would have given previous management a solid four stars. Now, not so much. I’ll stick to the facts of my experience thus far:- I discussed a significant flooding issue in front of my building in person with new management on December 15, 2018, and was asked to send an email with pictures I had taken. I sent the email with pictures that very day. Heard nothing back. A few weeks later I called and spoke to another gentleman who said he’d check into it and get back to me, and still nothing to this day. Previous management always at least responded to an email, even to say they’re working on an issue. No communication from new management. Still get wet socks/my dog gets soaked every single time it rains because of flooding.- Doggy bag stations were completely out of bags for ~ten days, and they also WEREN’T BEING EMPTIED. It was absolutely disgusting, and the stations were literally overflowing in some cases. When I called they said it’s a third party company that handles the doggy stations, which I understand, but it’s on management to make a trip around the complex every now and then to make sure things are in order. They had no idea. I don’t believe they come out of the office to check on the property at all. I don’t even see maintenance around like I used to.- Speaking of checking up on the grounds, the dumpster where you take your trash has become an absolute mess. People have dumped furniture, mattresses, vacuums, etc., but none of it is cleaned up, nor is there effort on management’s behalf to prevent this with signs or email notifications saying “Don’t dump large items at the dumpster!”- New management had intentions to no longer notify you when you have a package at the front office. They told me that they will be building an addition to the front office that will operate as a 24-hour mail room, and everyone will be able to access it and not have to depend on office hours to pick up packages. I asked what the ETA is on it being built. They said they had no idea. They suggested keeping an eye on online tracking to see when your packages arrive. I asked about the packages that were sent as a surprise/packages you were NOT expecting. They had no solution other than to just stop in the office once a week to ask if I had any packages. They WERE aiming to continue not doing anything until I guess enough people complained, so they sent out an email TODAY saying they’d now be letting us know when we have a package.- They changed their hours and are no longer open on Sundays. This isn’t a huge deal, but it’s just a funny detail that they still haven’t changed the sign out in front of the office that says they’re open on Sundays.- The icing on the cake is that they sent an email to everyone on January 10th with a title of “How is your experience?” The email said: “Happy New Year! Weve been working hard to improve your community, and we want your feedback! Help us start the new year off right by leaving us a note and letting us know how were doing! Your feedback means a lot to us; tell us what you think!” Beneath that paragraph they had a green smiley face and a red sad face. What happens when you click the green smiley? It takes you to Google to write a review. What happens when you click the red sad face? NOTHING!!! Lol! Absolutely nothing.A few pros/cons: It’s fairly quiet here. Good location, close to the highway and shopping. Traffic at the 751/54 intersection during rush hour (morning and evening) is AWFUL because of Jordan High School congestion. It can also be difficult to make safe left turns out of the complex during these periods.Despite slight redemption with the package situation, that “Tell us what you think!” email shows unwillingness to hear real feedback from residents. Thus, so far new management has been a one-star experience.

This is our 2nd year living in this complex, it’s definitely not the worst place, but it has certainly went down hill within the last year. New management isn’t transparent with their tenants, they will not promptly notify you when packages get delivered, never answers the phone during office hours, front desk can be rude. Some areas lack lawn maintenance, and garbage and recycling is overflowing on a weekly basis (yet we still pay a $20 rubbish fee to the complex). Patios and breezeways have not been power washed this summer, it’s just a mess. I spoke to the manager Erica about these issues, and she insisted that this was not true (although you can see by the other reviews it’s not just my experience), but she did apologize. I think the new team needs to acknowledge there is room to improve and actually try making an effort with the residents here. These next few months will be telling, and I think a lot of us here will be deciding whether or not we’ll renew our leases the coming year.

So I have to edit my review now...……...when I wrote the review, it was Copper Mill. When it changed to Arium Southpoint, there was a definite decline in satisfaction with the property, so much we moved out.First I will say the staff there are nice...…...and I think must be restrained by the management company. With that said, understand you will pay premium rent for very subpar living spaces. The apartment we were in had very old and worn carpet, poor paint, and bathrooms that were disgusting. So much that mold and mildew grew in the ceiling of the master and I had to scrub it with mildew remover (probably due to poor drainage in the roof as gutters were always clogged). You can get a lot nicer place for the money and at least have decent living space. Dont expect much with this space. Appliances are cheap...…..and there is a major roach problem. Had to set out traps and it wasnt working. The other issue is the complex is starting to attract a lot of questionable tenants. While many there are fine and super nice, we had one neighbor who literally kept trash ( a lot of it) on their patio and smoked weed constantly and then another one who constantly called 911 24/7 for no reason other than EMS attention. The grounds are not well kept either. Which had gotten worse with the new management.Another issue is the office is constantly closed. I dont know how many times we got a msg there was a package and would go during normal hours and the door be locked. It was not isolated but routine. You can never get a person to answer the phone as well. The only positives I can say is the pool is nice and the location is a great location, close to a lot of things. But if Arium truly cared, they would maintain the property better (landscaping, maintenance of buildings etc), update and refresh the apartments with new carpet, paint, and kitchen/bathrooms (tubs and fixtures are disgusting), provide more pet waste disposal stations, and raise the standard of who is living there. Otherwise, I cannot recommend it as it was when we left. My hope is one day they will improve but there are much better places for the same money or it is worth paying a bit more honestly...………

Wouldnt recommend this place as they do not look out for their residents. Just days after moving in old carpet stains appeared on the carpet which we had to pay for despite showing proof that they were not ours. Seemed staff was only after whatever money they could squeeze out of their residents, which included not refunding the security deposit.
