This is going to be a long one, so buckle up kiddos.I’ve been renting under this company for a little over three years and at first it was tolerable but I quickly realized that it was all continuously going downhill. The quality vs price of the condos I am in doesn’t match up at all- black mold, caving ceilings, leaks- you name it.We were forced to move suddenly and so we had no choice but to take what was available- but we were never shown that property and when we asked we were not allowed to see due to them “preparing” it.What we got, after that (for an increased price as well)Drooping ceilings, water damage and mold that had been painted over, carpet that had paint on it in many areas, holes in the walls ( the shelf in my closet actually collapsed due to the hole they never repaired )The heat went out the first night, we tried to be understanding but turns out the wiring had caught fire but there was no alarm in the apartment so we got lucky that it went out on its own.The beginning of summer I reported issues with the ac over and over- for two months I was ignored or told it was fine. It was hitting 90+ inside on days where it was 75-80 outside. For two months we were left without AC despite the repair company sending an estimate on replacement the same day they came to examine it- I had to call the company myself to find out that the manager here never even responded to the estimate. It was weeks later that we learned this. They then continued to tell me that we could discuss reimbursement for the 200+ dollar portable ac I had to buy as they said they could not move us anywhere or cover a hotel, but since June 17th I never got another response or call about this despite multiple attempts to contact them. That’s only part of the issue- we moved into an apartment that had roaches and gnats, and they no longer have exterminators come to any of the buildings here. There are roaches literally everywhere. If you step outside at night you’ll find at minimum 5-6 by the doors.Originally we wanted to renew our lease before moving upstairs, but when we asked about setting that up we were ignored for two, almost three months. We were forced into a month to month lease with no communication despite our efforts to reach them, even when there was an active manager working at this complex. The health department literally threatened them and that’s the only reason the roof got repaired- the mold is still here. Black mold will literally grow on your front door- it’s everywhere here.So basically, if roach infestations, black mold and being ignored by the workers sounds like fun or something you’d enjoy, definitely hit them up.Otherwise, run and go literally anywhere else.
Jim Rigsbee was my contact guy there he was great. Professional. Courteous . It was great doing business with him.
Had to edit and add this. Its funny that once I posted the review, I got the quickest response despite all the unanswered phone calls. I said what I said and I stick to it! Your explanation is to make you all look good. Again I said my peace and I stick to it!Didnt have much of a problem renting from them but when I moved out and received the security deposit and had questions regarding it, no one seemed to be able to answer my questions. The office had no information on the payout, who then referred me to the maintenance man who I had a hard time getting up with, to him telling me ( after finally being able to contact him), that he would have to get the details from the person who inspected the apartment/house once I moved out. All of this did not make any sense because you mean to tell me that no one in the administrative office nor the maintenance man knew what the breakdown was... You just had some person give you numbers and you not know in detail what was being paid for. I wanted explanations for things I was charged for that I did not agree with and was considered normal wear and tear. How do you charge $15 for a blown light bulb? $40 for a sink stopper that was never there? There are some items that I do take responsibility for but the others that I do not understand or agree with, I would like to discuss ... Which I have yet to receive a call from him. Dont have to worry about me renting from them again or recommending them.
DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PLACE. They are terrible communicators. Avoid working with Tiffany Ivy at all cost; she is the least helpful person you could ever imagine trying to work with. This company will steal your money and clearly do not care about their customers or doing what is right. I’m not sure how this company gets away with what they do, but stay away! I wish I would have read reviews prior to signing a lease with them, as plenty others have had the same terrible experience unfortunately.
Worst rental company in history. Absolutely the worse, do not rent from them. I moved out over a month ago still no word on my deposit and my account is still showing I owe them rent which I don’t. Not only did they remove and throw away items out of my home before my lease was up, they haven’t given me my deposit yet? They move slow and they’re horrible at communicating. They act like they can’t answer questions to save their life, it’s sad really.
Gave them money for a application, got accepted, but no response from them for days on end, our move in date has come and gone and still no response... Should have read the reviews before spending 50 bucks on an application fee
Everyone stay away from this company, I had to take them to court over outrageous deposit issues ( where they had three different invoices, they charged landlords and renters outrageous amounts) I took them to court, won and they still havent paid up.
I signed my lease today with REA. I had the pleasure of working with Ms. Renee, whom I named my housing angel. She is such a sweet and helpful person. She was very knowledgeable about the properties that I was interested in and she went beyond the call of duty to assist me. I wont move into my new townhouse until July, but what Ive seen so far from REA, I would definitely recommend them to others. They processed my application within two days and then called me with an approval. Ms. Renee sits at the front desk and greets everyone with a smile. I want her supervisor to know that he has a special employee and should be grateful to have her. Thanks Renee for all your time and patience. You are the reason that I give REA 5 stars!
I look at the aggregate of scores here and it’s 2 star. That’s extremely high for this inept bunch. In short, run, don’t walk, from this company. They are short sighted in every way, care only about today’s dollar, and nothing about owners or tenants. What’s sad is that years ago under John Bowden they were exemplary. I’ve been with them ten years, and now, in one short year, the new bozos running the company have thrown all those years of good will out the window. There are great competitors who are ethical, kind, and caring. Simply do not waste your time here. It is truly sad.
I ABSOLUTELY love living here! The ladies in the office are very nice (Victoria and Renee) These ladies are very helpful. They make sure you feel welcomed at all times and they always take care of anything you need right away. I also love how things are fixed right away once requested. Paul is great with replying back to emails and getting back to you about repairs. Julie really was patient with me during the whole process. I love the decision I made. YOU GUYS ROCK!!!
Ashley made my search so much easier. I had been trying to help my son look for an apartment for a while but it was not until I actually call Real Estate Associates and spoke with Ashley that my search came to an end. She is so professional, attentive and gave me great customer service. I appreciate all of her help. Thank you Ashley!
I went to get my uncle an apartment and the customer service was Excellent!! Kevin was really professional nice guy. My uncle signed his lease and we even recd a welcoming gift. Its a relief for me to know that when dealing with Real Estate Associates that Im dealing with great people. Renee that works at the front desk was really helpful and friendly also. Thanks for offering great customer service and I love you new location
Horrible people working there... horrible customer service ....they dont give you the correct information for the houses!!! I missed out on a House I was waiting for three weeks to just come on the market... it wasn’t even on the market and they didn’t tell me that I was able to put an application and put a security deposit down ....before I even viewed the house... so I waited an extra three weeks for nothing because the house was off the market before it was even on ....they almost messed me up so bad that I would have to renew my lease at the apartment complex that I’m staying at again.. all because they didn’t give me any of the correct information A head of time!!!!!
It is such a blessing to love what you do. As a Realtor with Keller Williams Preferred Realty, there is nothing like working with other agents who work as hard as you to get the job done. I have been blown away with my experience with the Real Estate Associates in Durham, NC. I was on a very short time crunch for a client and immediately went to the Real Estate Associates because they are a branded name, and known for rental of homes in the area. I never knew this encounter would be as terrific as it was. Kevin Smith, was so professional, kind hearted, and just a great person from beginning to end. He went over and beyond the call of duty and made me feel as if we knew each other for years. Kevin made sure all of my clients request were handled in a timely manner, and that she was satisfied. Not only did he follow up with me during the process of finalizing the lease, but called and emailed me afterwards. The maintenance team led my Doug, and cleaning crew were amazing. This has been one of the greatest real estate transactions I have had. To all my Realtor friends, family, and associates if you are looking for quality homes to rent, call Kevin Smith and his team at the Real Estate Associates in Durham, NC. Dont forget to tell them Tracy Brewer sent you.Real Estate Associates Inc, 3333 Durham-Chapel Hill Boulevard, Durham, NC 27707
Friendly and understanding!!! My experience has been wonderful 😊😊 I came to look for an apartment and was helped immediately the receptionist margarita lovely young lady very informative and Julie awesome agent nice professional and caring!! Im glad I rented with them my lease starts this November Im hoping for the best my apartments is nice clean and quiet just perfect for my little ones Thank you guys you have no idea how happy I am 😊😊
Kevin Smith was extremely helpful in finding a location for my family. Even though I was five hours away when we worked on closing the deals he made sure we stayed in contact. He followed up the Monday after we moved in to make sure everything was perfect. We had a few issues in the house that the maintenance department came and fixed in a very timely manner. Highly recommend this group to anyone.
I have been renting a residential property from Real Estate Associates for twenty months now, and I’m looking forward to at least that many more. Initially, I selected my unit because of its location, price, and size; but since then, the maintenance service has done more than anyone to keep my business. The building in which I live is far from new, and it takes a bit of tending to keep it in good shape. Fortunately, the guys who head up the maintenance service at my address, Paul and Jim, are more than a match for the task. Before I moved in, I requested that they change a couple of overhead lights, replace a faulty electrical outlet, install a few window screens, paint some walls, and clean the place thoroughly. They got the job done correctly and on time. Since then, Paul and Jim have responded quickly and efficiently to all of my maintenance requests, including calls to repair the stove, dish washer, refrigerator, and kitchen sink.I file most of my maintenance requests by e-mail, and I’ve always received a reply within a few hours. More importantly, someone almost always stops by to make repairs within one day. And I’m not talking business days, either. Indeed, as far as I can tell, these guys are always on the clock. Even when I have alerted them to a problem on a Saturday night or a holiday evening, they’ve still come by the next morning to set things right. The only exception occurred when they had to wait a few days to receive for a part from a supplier. Moreover, Paul and Jim are among the most approachable, friendly, and courteous guys around.I may have signed my lease because of location, price, and size, but I’m staying because Real Estate Associates, particularly the maintenance service (as headed up by Paul and Jim – thanks guys), continue to make me feel welcome.
I rented from them for 2 years!! Everything was fine until my last year..... The home I was renting was being sold an Real Estate Associates felt the need to make me wait 60 days for my deposit to come up with ways An fees not to give me my deposit back which was over $3000!! Never returned any of my calls or messages!! Made up things an charged me for anything they could things I didn’t even do or things that wasn’t even damaged. Then added a extra $1000 to my bill!! Greedy, Greedy Vultures!! Basically built a new house to sell on my dollar. I should have hired a lawyer. Can’t trust them to be honest An fair with your deposit, or even to return your calls!!
Truly the most incompetent group youll ever meet. Seems as though they cant keep people in the office, so the hierarchy is constantly shuffling. Maintenance is a complete joke, as they dont maintain anything. They neglected a water meter leak for three months in the house I rented after I implored for weeks on end that they remedy it. It ended up costing an additional $175 in wasted water that flooded the front yard of the property. Not only that, but the house I rented was infested with mice, cockroaches, spiders, grasshoppers, you name it; I put in four, count them, four maintenance requests for pest control, all of which were discreetly deleted from the online tenant portal without ever communicating with me or fixing the problem. When I went into the office, Marcy lied about how pest control is not their responsibility per the lease. (My lease said nothing about pest control and it is in fact their responsibility to maintain sanitary habitable conditions. Know your rights, folks.) After inquiring where to find this clause in the lease, they magically became responsible and scheduled pest control to come.Ron, the new maintenance guy, will straight up walk away from you if you hold him accountable for his words, and forget about ever hearing back from anyone of importance. I copied the chairman and president, Joe and Seth Jernigan respectively, on numerous emails about this repair issue and never heard a word from either of them. Theres a reason that this company has Better Business Bureau complaints (look them up) and its because leadership turns a blind eye to problems like this. The cherry on top of a spectacular circus of idiocy: they couldnt keep their records straight and got my security deposit return check wrong. I had to visit the office in person before they would send an additional check to account for their $100 error. I spent so much time occupying this office that Im surprised they didnt try to charge me rent for being there.Accountability is severely lacking, so current renters, my advice to you is keep written documentation of everything, know your rights, and hold your ground. The rest of you, unless you want the full time job of begging people to do their one job and paying for their supreme incompetence when they dont, go find somewhere else to rent/entrust your property.
Thanks to Julie A. and the staff at Real Estate Associates for their excellent service in helping me to find the perfect townhome in Durham. REA has a thorough screening and application process to get quality tenants into affordable rental properties. I also appreciate the recommended upgrades for new carpet and paint from Julie and approval by the owner. The place is beautiful and will be taken care of. Id also like to thank the maintenance and cleaning staff for such a quick turnaround time so that I could move in sooner than the original move-in date. I would highly recommend REA for your rental needs without a doubt!
My experience with the Real Estate Associates team was a pleasant one. The entire staff was very helpful and understanding throughout my rental housing search. The R.E.A. staff showed my family and me compassion and patience. Throughout my search I felt confidence that they had my best interest at heart. I really appreciated the Real Estate Associates team and look forward to working with them in the future.
DO NOT RENT BUY LEASE OR OPTION FROM REA... THEY ARE AN INEPT AND INCOMPETENT GROUP OF INDIVIDUALS...In December 2016 I suffered a stroke and was incapacitated. Over the next several weeks I had to regain the ability to walk straight and suffered some memory loss. I notified REA of my situation, and told them Id be moving out when my lease was up in March, 2 months at the most.Because of some Financial drama I was unable to pay the rent on time and then an eviction was filed, fair enough. So, I contacted REA and was told by them AS LONG AS I PAID BEFORE THE COURT DATE the process would end there, and why wouldnt I believe them. I paid and wouldnt you know it. REAs attorney did not check that the rent was paid and continued with the eviction, as if I had not which is now on my rental record. Needless to say in my 51 years Ive never had an eviction until this motley unprofessional group decides to do everything in their power to not re-pay out the deposit, nor properly correct their errors. SAVE YOURSELF THE DRAMA... THERE ARE MANY MORE COMPETENT AND COMPASSIONATE COMPANIES WHO WILL HELP... REAL ESTATE ASSOCIATE PROPERTY MANAGEMENT IS NOT ONE OF THEM..... THINK ABOUT A COMPANY THATS TRULY RATED 1 OR 5 NOT ALOT OF IN BETWEEN... HMMMMM
Only gave them one star. Only because you are forced to pick at least one. Other wise I would have given them a negative star. We had to terminate our lease early. Then we were forced to pay every months rent until a new tenant was located. Come to find out they never even advertised the place to be re-rented. And still to this day are continuing to charge us 1700 $ a month for a place we are not even living at. After they illegally raised the rent after 8 months on a 18 month lease. Which is illegal unless specified in the lease. Which it was not.
Have had nothing but bad experiences when reaching out to any of the staff at Real Estate Associates. From every experience Ive had with them I can only deduce that they try as hard as possible to not speak with the tenants of their residential properties, even if youve left messages requesting a callback; they do not return calls. Theyll continuously increase rent amounts on properties that in my opinion are not in a condition that would warrant rent increase
This business is currently trying to extort money out of me by fabricating bogus repair costs for the rental property I vacated. My Air Conditioner inexplicably broke while I was living there, and due to state law there is no legal obligation to fix it, so I was forced to spend a summer in 90+ degree temps. The pipes also froze over the winter, which they refused to remedy, causing hidden water leakage, which they did not even attempt to detect, despite openly acknowledging that it was a potential problem. To top it all off, they first failed to fulfill their promise to install locks on the doors as part of the initial rental agreement, and then neglected to inspect the property for damages when I was burglarized. This is all despite repeated written pleas on my part, and repeated promises by them to eventually address each and every one of the problems. To add insult to injury, once I vacated the premises, they sent me a multi-thousand dollar bill for damages I supposedly caused, most of which made absolutely no sense whatsoever. It was obviously an attempt to cover the costs of the repairs they presumably finally got around to doing after I left. When I sent them a letter outlining which repairs I was not obligated by law to pay for, they immediately referred it to a collection agency without further response.Needless to say, I intend to take legal action, as well as report their borderline criminal activity to every government agency in the lexical alphabet. To anyone planning on renting from this company: You have been warned. There are always incentives for rental agencies to abuse their power over you, but these miscreants go above and beyond the call of duty and will try to extort as much money out of you as possible.
Now, IMO I would NOT rent again from this company. I am a NEW tenant, My experience has NOT been pleasant. I have lived at my property for 22 days, in those 22 days I was promised, (EVEN PRIOR TO MOVE-IN) that issues would be resolved.. NOPE. They take their time since they have your monies.. no to mention I had to pay a DOUBLE deposit and FIRST Months rent, which I believe was unfair, because of credit score issues... no collections, just score was not high?Anyway. ... I have been in contact with ALL levels of mgt. everybody just acts like they dont give a crap.. it will get done whenever... seriously a WHOLE MONTH? So what will my time look like here within the next 11 months?.. I dont know... but to give you an example... my dishwasher is all rusted out, my living room window is busted, not to mention the screens are barely hanging on...my disposal needs attention, my oven came with NO RACKS.. There were still roaches crawling around way after we moved in, a hole in the front door, the sliding glass door is protected by a chain lock.. that slides in.. (can easily be broken) no bar on it to keep it from opening.. and I have been just here waiting... hoping that that they will be responsible and caring enough to see as a new resident, first impressions are important.. and if I am having issues from day ONE... I can imagine what the rest of this lease beholds... I am hoping this review reaches everyone interested... including management... in knowing how well Real Estate Associates takes care of their tenants.... they DONT!
We were very pleased with our recent experience. The whole staff is very welcoming and personable. Victoria is awesome! She has been responsive, professional, and helpful throughout the application process. I would immediately refer anyone to Real Estate Associates without hesitation.
I’d never rent from them again. I moved into a beautiful home in which I lived in for almost 2 years the lease was cut short due the house going into foreclosure the owner was never paying the mortgage. Turns out the house was in foreclosure for a while a detail the agents failed to tell me then they still made me pay rent even tho I had to make arrangements to move so abruptly. Do you think they had been sympathetic about it they had no clue didn’t try to help or nothing this company is money driven if your homeless it’s less of the concern to them because of them I’ll never rent a house again because of these little things they fail to research. They had the nerve to tell me foreclosure is a matter of public records I should have known YUP pretty much it was my fault. So when the home was sold the new owner never gave me back my direct deposit either. This was a horrible life experience they get you in these contracts please read the fine print because when it went in to foreclosure in April I tried to move ahead of time they was charging me 250 to break the lease even though it was in foreclosure then they told me I was still responsible for the rent until the lease was up and I had to leave the utilities in my name which is the agreement if you want to move regardless so know what your getting into with this money hungry agency if I could have given you a zero I would have that’s how bad you was and not one speaks on things like this. I had to use all my savings to move so I wouldn’t be homeless all this while I’m pregnant thank you bunch of back stabbers you put on a front like you care for peoples well being you don’t the maintenance people are people off they street they do half jobs and take forever to repair minor things. I hope not one person goes through what I been through with these leaches. Dirt bags
My experience with REA has been really positive. Julie A is very easy to work with and made the move in transition go quite smoothly. My questions and maintenance requests have been addressed quickly and efficiently. I feel that my experience as a tenant is very important to REA staff.
Real Estate Associates is an amazing company. My family had to relocate without me due to a job offer. Kevin took excellent care of them. So glad to know we are doing business with a great team!
I was looking for awhile for a good and affordable place to rent and Kevin when above and beyond to help us. I will recommend this place to anyone. Great customer service and very helpful people. Im very thankful that I found them.
Real Estate Associates (REA) has been a great help to me with leasing & property management for a property in Durham. Specifically, John has been a huge support for any challenges that were encountered and helped work through to a resolution. I would highly recommend REA for leasing & property management as Im sure they will be as helpful and diligent as they have been for me.
Real Estate Associates, Inc is a great company and I highly recommend them for your property rentals. It has been a smooth and easy transfer with no headaches. I would absolutely recommend this company to friends, family members and strangers. They defiantly have my vote!!! ***** Tammy C.
Real Estate Associates have been great sense taking over my apartment complex! Maintenance has been awesome! I have had several situations come up and they have been here and fixed the problem. Paul head of maintenance has been great! And Paul who has come out to fix our problems has been great also! I am very happy!! thank you all!Dorothy and Theresa Feeney
I would like to share my experience about Real Estate Associates. I visited there location 3 weeks ago and spoke to Renee and Victoria. I was pleased with their professional and very polite manner. I returned exactly 3 weeks later and spoke with Mr.Kevin regarding the same property and went forward with applying for the potential property. Mr.Kev Called me on our snow day, which was impressive to know they still were working even when all else was shutting down.I am pleased to say that all of the staff there made me feel at home. I would recommend them to everyone. Mr. Kevin, Victoria and Renee are the best! They take that extra time with you which helps when moving is already a stressful ordeal. Needless to say i am now in my new home and loving it.You guys deserve a 5 star.
Haven’t been here long and I wish I never looked at these apartments own by REA. Mold, lack of paint job, filthy sink stoppers and knobs, hole in floor board, it’s just ridiculousTo the reply everything was reported I have call records I also have pictures of the mold/mildew and pictures of everything that was wrong with the apartment and I started reporting everything I eventually seen after I moved I even reported things twice. Some of the issues with this apartment should have been taken care before I moved in which means a walk through wasn’t done before it was leased. Going forward I will make videos of when I report issues with this apartment so I won’t be called a lier and thanks for sending the maintenance men out yesterday to take care of the issues. Anyone that need videos and pictures of my proof please reach out to me.
Kevin and the staff at REA are a wonderful group to work with. The customer service has really improved over the last year that I have been working with REA. All of my needs have been meet in a reasonable amount of time and by a professional staff. I would like to say thanks to Kevin, Paul, Renee, and victoria for the great care and customer service. Keep up the good work.
I have been working with the REA Maintenance department since 2007 and I have found them to be professionals in what they do. They will fix what has been printed on the work orders and if they see something that needs repair while they are in a unit they will fix it and let you know what it was and what they did to take care of it. I would recommend this maintenance department to anyone who needs help.
Victoria Pleasca and all the friendly staffs in the REA helped me settled down on a wonderful house in less then three days. My situation is different than most people since Im a foreigner; Victoria is very professional and knowledgeable to communicate between me and the house owner, and was able to get everything done in no time. Thank you!
My experience was great ! Respectful patience and kindness and great customer service.Walked in Spoke to receptionist then later Julie I gave her a certain date I wanted to move in, she worked it out moved me in immediately. Real estate associates is one rental company I will highly recommend Keep up the great work Julie! Very professional. Thanks Latifah
I really love this company. Everyone has always been so nice and the environment is always pleasant . When ever I needed anything fixed, they responded in a timely manner and always returned my calls. I am very pleased with Real Estate Associate
I am an assistant manager at a shop, we rent from them. currently there is a sewage problem. i contacted mike petus (property manager) right when i noticed the smell. It has been two weeks, he said someone from the city was going to come out, nobody came. It still smells, i called the main office and the first man to answer was incredibly rude to me. i told him id like to speak to someone who is not mike or higher than mike and he got very defensive and told me he did not know anybody, but a lady in marketing. i then spoke to her and she was so much nicer and more helpful than the first man. overall this is the only problem we have had and they have done a really bad job at resolving it.
I used to think that REA was the last of our affordable, elite property management companies but now I think very differently. REA is just another Rick Soles of property management companies, they seemed to be color struck in giving out the correct availability for certain areas of the city. I was very disappointed with this company overall.
I was recently afforded the opportunity to work with Kevin Smith. He is by far one of the nicest people in the real estate industry. Kevin worked late so I could see a property and guided me through the easy online application process. Thanks Kevin and the entire team.
I recently leased my first apartment through Real Estate Associates and couldnt be happier! Victoria was so helpful. She walked me through everything, answered all my questions, and resolved all of my concerns. I really do feel at home and taken care of in my new space. Thank you!!!
Dont waste your time. We rented 136 Presidents Drive. There were many things that were not working. The ceiling fans wobbled when you turned them on, the dishwasher didnt work, the door bell didnt work. Things were wrong with the microwave. The air conditioner didnt work. They finally came and fixed the air conditioner unit but put one in that was way to big. The electric bill ran about 500.00 a month and they had not fixed anything from the time we were there to the time we left. We paid a 1200 dollar deposit and paid our rent on time. Did we get the deposit back? No they said we owed them 67.00. Be careful with these people.
Great team! Tons of thanks to Julie, Renee and Maria for handling our application in a blink of an eye! Not even mentioning their patience and understanding!Thank you all!Masha and Genna
Very good and I like what I see The grounds look very good. I have rented from this company for 9 years. I am a happy customer.
Jonathan in Raleigh has been extremely helpful during my move. I am a veteran, and I would definitely recommend any of my fellow veterans to see him.
It was a pleasure working with Julie Anderson. Amy at the front desk is always friendly and helpful.I would recommend REA to anyone.
Real Estate Associates is a great company....Since the day I walked in Kevin Smith was very help helpful to me and my family ..........They also have a great maintenance crew........They staff were very respectful.......we love our home .......Thank you for giving us the opportunity to live in one your beautiful homes.
I wouldnt recommend this company to anybody. If you fall in the rough times they dont help you at all
This company sucks. I originally was under Ticon Properties and my complex was sold to REA. I was never told about any pest living with me and I have droppings from roaches in my kitchen and bathroom cabinets. The pest control person told me it was from the wood. I cant even eat out of my utensils because if the dropping. Which I believe is unsanitary. But I pay my rent every month on time but they take there precious time coming to resolve issues that was here before I moved in. Im very disappointed that it has came to this but I would never rent from REA EVER AGAIN.
Very friendly and handled our application right away went above and beyond to get us moved in right away provide a new appliances very well maintained and clean properties
I was very pleased with the staff at REA, Maarcie, John, and MS. Martinez were very professional and plesent. I would recommend them in the future.
One off my experience best ever match living in durham throw their real estates as my quick guess have take me a while of thinking about establishment and suitable living level that match with my career I definitely recommend a deal with them.
The transition from Realtor to Realtor was seamless. Thank you Kevin! I look so forward to this new relationship at Real Estate Associates.
Great maintenance support! For over 10 years we have trusted Real Estate Associates to manage our tenant relations and they have done an amazing job!
I had a great experience with REA. Julie was very helpful and my rental process has went very smooth.
My housemates and I have had nothing but positive experiences with REA in the year and a half weve lived in one of their properties. Maintenance calls have always been handled promptly with friendly service.I dont write reviews often, but last week Julie from REA saved my butt with an act of generosity that cannot go unthanked! I managed to forget my wallet at home when I left for an an important flight. I wouldnt have time to get a lyft/uber/cab back to pick it up, but I wouldnt be able to board my flight without it. I was able to send my dad to pick it up for me but our spare key was misplaced. I called REA and, although its not a service they offer and she had NO obligation to do this, Julie drove over to my house to let my dad in. Thanks to her, I made my flight and got to an important job interview on time. Thank you, Julie!!We had already been pleased with Real Estate Associates as our property manager, but that experience pushed them over the edge from good service to great service, and great people to boot. Wholeheartedly recommend.
Kind of confused about the negative reviews when Ive had nothing but positive experiences. I am currently transitioning from one of their properties to another and it couldnt go any smoother. Someone is always available to answer my questions and address my concerns. I couldnt ask for anything else.
Very helpful people and are quick to help you with whatever you need.
Just dont. Dont work there.... dont live there. They dont respect you, value you or your situation. They certainly dont support employees and residents even less. Might as well save yourself the hassle and buy a house.
Slumlord dose not even begin to describe this company. Illegally going up on rent without making needed repairs to the property, never return calls, and from TS Michael, have left tenets with a tree through the property and no electricity for three days and have made no attempts to get a process going... and seems from other reviews REA has more then they can handle...
Repairs have always been prompt and well handled. Never had an issue getting something fixed or looked at.
Pro: They have online bill pay and workorder submissions Con: They dont respond to work order requests.
My experience with the REA maintenance department has been a good one. They come into your home and fix what is needed and if there is something you did not notice that needed to be fixed they fixed it as well and informed me of it.
Towards the end of the year 2014, I walked into Real Estate Associates with an interest in renting one of the properties. From the time I walked in the door, Kevin Smith and Ms. Mary Ann were amazing. Kevin called me personally to introduce himself. He asked if I would not mind coming in so that he could meet me personally. Kevin went above and beyond to make me comfortable and informed. He kept in contact with me throughout the rental process. He was patient and addressed each and every concern I had and answered every question I had. Kevin was absolutely pleasant and understanding. Ms. Mary Ann at the front desk is the other person at the leasing office of which I would like to praise. Her disposition and attitude has always been nothing but extremely pleasant, kind, amiable, and welcoming. She made my sister and myself feel very welcomed and free to ask questions if we wanted. I cannot neccessarily write a review about Real Estate Associates as a whole because I am not well versed on the standard of which they are accustomed to providing service, in part due the fact that I have also received negative customer service by two female associates visiting their office in Durham, NC. Both ladies addressed me from behind the front desk on both occassions. The first lady had blonde streaks throughout her hair, and spoke with a rather strong southern accent and I must say between the two her disposition was certainly the nastiest, and unwelcoming. She was very short and crass. In my opinion the attitude with she answered my questions seemed to imply that I was bothering her, and that my questions were an inconvenience in her day. The second lady had dark hair and spoke with an international accent. There was a question about a bill I received in the mail from Real Estate Associates, her address to the question was also condescending, and nasty. I have worked at Duke Medical Center for over 7 years, so I fully aware of what and how good customer service looks like, and also able to recognize individuals who not only embody good customer service but make an earnest effort to give it. Honestly speaking as far as I am concerned Kevin and Ms. Mary Ann are the apotheoses. I would say for anyone out there looking to rent property from the company, and you specifically ask for one of these two individuals then you will be have a most pleasureable and wonderful experience.
We are a retail business and we love this company and its people. Alan
Last week I inquired about a property with REA, but because im young and this is my second time renting I did have some doubt. One of the lovely ladies in the office suggested that I speak with kevin. Initially I was suoposed to leave a voicemail, but when she transfered me to Kevins line he answered on the first ring, which was a good sign. Once we hung up I felt like I could take a deep breath and relax. Later that week, I went to the office to turn in my app and when I walked in Kevin complimented my jacket (my fav northface). As the lady was making my copies I was able to interact with kevin a little more. His conversation and energy was so very welcoming and genuine. Before i left he assured me that he would call me the next day by 12, and he kept his word. To sum up my expierence with REA after my last phone conversation with kevin I hung up feeling like I had a Big brother. In other words Kevin your the best and you deserve the best. Good luck to you in life!Warm Regards,Quanna
Julie was incredibly helpful and accommodating during our move from Georgia. Real estate associates has been very responsive with maintenance requests.
Unprofessional and questionable practices during application process for a rental unit. Contacted employer/HR and asked if applicant will still work here when they move to North Carolina. Unscrupulous...
I worked with the Fayetteville office and they lied about what the house truly was and then refused to refund all of my money after lying. Dont ever do business with them.
This company is very difficult to deal with and does not reply to emails. I emailed twice about a property over the course of several weeks and never heard anything. Put an application in on another property. They charged me the application fee that same day but I never heard anything back. Would never do business again.
The worst real estate in the triangle area. THEY NEVER RETURN CALLS AND DO NOT CARE ABOUT ANY MAINTENANCE!!! Horrible customer service! My absolute worst experience with any real estate agency ever.
