I have been getting my hair cut here for YEARS (see below), but recently also tried a brow wax with Margot - it was a hit and I’m officially switching from Benefit! She was so nice, of course professional, did an AMAZING and painless job, topping off with some beautifully scented moisturizers. So so so looking forward to my next appointment, and maybe even trying a facial with her :)If you’re interested in a haircut, I cannot recommend this place enough! I tell everyone I know to go here. I’ve done men’s long hair cuts, short hair, different styles, made up my own, highlights, full double process platinum blonde, all has been fantastic (even better than my old pricey salon in NYC)! I always see Maria or Sarah, but talk to the receptionist about what kind of style you’re looking for and they can match you with the stylist for you :)

Stylist was great. I paid, tried scheduling a followup but the woman up front couldn’t figure out how to work the schedule. I waited 10 minutes. After leaving, I received a voice message from the owner that I left without paying. The owner called again while I was still biking home (before I heard the first message), demanding my debit card. She called the second time from a blocked number. I checked my bank account and saw a pending withdrawal, and told her I had been charged. She said that *I* needed to be patient and she would check. I asked if she had really called twice and accused me of leaving without paying before she checked. She demanded that I provide a confirmation number from my bank. I received several more calls and another voicemail finally that the payment appeared to have gone through. I don’t plan to return. What a fantastic way to turn off new clients — by harassing and haranguing them and making false accusations repeatedly.

I used to be a once a year haircut kinda gal, but once Maria started cutting my hair things changed. I never knew what it was to have a good haircut... scratch that...a GREAT haircut. I go regularly so I can have gorgeous bouncy hair all the time, and with a head of hair as heavy as mine thats not easy; its all in the cut. Highly recommend for the skills of the stylist, the front desk staff is always delightful and you cannot find a better massage in the city...Phiwan FTW.

I adored Salon Echo with my stylist Pear. When I worked with Pear, she was very detailed in communicating what the final product would look like. She communicated length based on what it would look like in the back and front prior to haircut. I went into the salon today and discovered that I really missed Pears communication style. Most new stylists when someone is new in their chair get a 15 minute consultation. I timed mine and it was 9 minutes. I was disappointed at how my hair turned out after cut. Unfortunately, because I got emotional (yes full disclosure I went into the bathroom and cried- I know silly right? Because hair grows back) the owner said my consultation had been thorough and very lengthy and the failure of communication was on me. Which I agree to disagree.Then I asked to know how to style it considering it was cut in a way Im not used to. I thought I was getting one length and it did not turn out that way. The owner said I needed to style my own hair to get it the way I wanted because I was being challenging for speaking up. Which was interesting because it could have been a learning lesson for all: that in the future, length of haircuts be communicated for the end result with front and back communication.Pear was an extremely good communicator. And although, the new stylist should not take personal offense but I am someone whose career requires my hair to look somewhat similar consistently in order for me to book work. And I saw it wouldnt pass my ability to be hired with my current headshots and upcoming booking agent opportunities. And thats why I cried because I saw loss of income on top of just not at all what I thought I was going to be getting. But I think the hair stylist took offense that I was upset because I was upset at her art.Although I can appreciate that salon echo treats their clients hair as art and goes to that level of service, I was pretty saddened that a salon I have loved my interactions ended with you are being challenging because I spoke up I didnt like it and wanted a win-win resolution. And although its a learning lesson for all involved as everyone is always evolving in communication and craft, I did unsubscribe from their mailing list as I will not be returning. Im sure with Salon Echos amazing reviews on this platform, the owner wont miss my business, but I do think it would be wise to reflect on how this situation could have been better.That being said, I do thank Salon Echo for this communication blunder because its given me more in value for my content as a speaker and corporate communicator on how better communication and customer service can be redeemed if the place of business continues to listen.Thank you for this experience.EDIT NOTE: In response to this businesss reply, I did not say she was a bad stylist and insult her intelligence. I can appreciate the effort in having healthy hair. I merely said I didnt like the work and was hoping for more texturizing. Your stylist used the term blunt cut which I had to google when I got home because I did not know what the term meant. And I did in fact get a blunt cut and it was not the vision I had for my hair. Lesson learned that sometimes terminology you dont know determines what you get.Also, Ive never had a blunt cut my entire life and know how to style layers very well. Requiring me to style my own hair after never having a cut like that, was a struggle and felt a bit cruel as your team watched me struggle. You go to the salon to feel empowered and look your best. And the experience as a customer did not feel so great. And thats why I wrote a review and gave one star. In communication blunders, there are always things to learn for both parties involved and as a customer, I learned some valuable takeaways from the experience and if you choose to not learn valuable takeaways from the experience thats your choice.I can appreciate the effort in making sure my hair looked as healthy as it can be! But listening to resolve it so I felt like it was something I loved would have worked wonders.

Absolutely fantastic! Everyone is so nice and extremely knowledgeable! After moving a long distance away from my hometown (where the same salon has done my hair for the past 20+ years), I was eager to find someone I felt I could trust to take care of my hair and beauty maintenance. I am so thankful I found that level of expertise, guidance, and honesty in Salon Echo!

I have been going to Salon Echo for 13 years.I have had 2 hair stylists. Melissa is my current hair stylist and expert. She is amazing and talented. I was very nervous 2 years ago. ( when I first met Melissa ) Now I absolutely adore my hair and can’t thank Melissa enough.This thank you is way over due. Kudos to Melissa for making me beautiful.

Pear was amazing! She spent so much time making sure my blunt cut was precise. Plus she was great to talk to!They also asked me to use hand sanitizer and took my temp, which are great business practices during COVID. Already planning my next visit.

LOVE Salon Echo! Every experience I have had here is great. I have had my hair cut and gotten some wax work done. All the staff is polite and very friendly. They make you feel comfortable at all times. The salon is clean and has a relaxing atmosphere. Great place!

Ive gone to 4 Chicago salons in the last 2 years, and this was the best by far (with service, pricing, and atmosphere)! Ive tried everything from Robert Jeffery to small local places, and this is the perfect combination of high-quality salon service and friendly atmosphere with a neighborhood feel. I was with Pear, a student, and she was amazing (both professionally and fun to talk to during the service). I finally feel like I found someone who heard what I wanted and delivered it perfectly.

In love with everything. Very lovely and friendly staff to begin with. I went for a facial it was just great and super relaxing. Jessica did such an awesome job, plus she gave lots of advice and recommendations for my skin care. Plus EXTRA hand massage after masking my face! (So heavenly). Im very pleased, will definitely visit again. Keep up the good work guys; from a very satisfied customer.

This salon Rocks! The staff and stylist are very pleasant and friendly. Although this was my first visit to Echo they made me feel as if I had been a well known client for years. I was going to one of those men centered salons. I am not a sports guy and dont need to see sports scores when I am getting a haircut, nor do I need to see dead animals on the walls. And I started to wonder, after the 3rd cut, why the stylist kept talking to me as if we were like in a relationship. Ok, there is a South Park episode where the local school girls open up a social cafe and pander to the boys who end up spending all their money because they feel like they are special and the girls actually like them. Sadly, its just a transaction so to speak. After the 3rd time I made the connection. Duh! ! It was just convenient to my location/schedule. So, when Maria cut my hair at Salon, I realized just how bad of a cut I was getting. You know the difference when you get a cut from someone that knows exactly what they are doing. And the conversation was authentic and I didnt feel like I was trapped in a South Park episode.

This is my second time reviewing Salon Echo - I just love this place that much.I dont get in here often, but when I do, I am always pleased by the everyones generosity and attention to detail (For example: a hand massage while my conditioner sets in - love, love, love!)I see Eric and not only enjoy his company, but also appreciate his willingness to share his knowledge of the industry with clients. Knowing that your stylist values the healthiest products and methods out there ensures that youre receiving the very best treatment.Tonight I found out that Salon Echo now recycles nearly all of their waste and materials. Thats amazing! Maria and her staff go the extra mile for their customers as well as the world around them. Such a feel good place!

I came to this place several times over the last few months and never really had a problem but this month theyve seriously been messing up.About 3 weeks ago I came in for a dye job. I chose my color and everything but then my stylist decided the color I chose would drain my complexion, and decided to go with a totally different color. I wanted my hair 2 shades lighter, she dyed it several shades darker.My cousin is in from out of town this week. I overlooked the issue I had with Mina and referred her to go there. Not only did they overcharge her for $20, the stylist who did her hair made an offhand racist remark about her not liking to swim because sistas dont like to get their hair wet.When I went back to ask about why she was charged an extra $20 when they never charge me that much whenever I go in for the same procedure (just a blowout and flat iron), I was informed that the given stylist can charge you however much they want.I will not be coming back to this establishment. Not only for the poor service, but for the fact that they overcharged my cousin and didnt have an explanation for why I never got charged that much except for the fact that I shouldve been getting charged. Really? Bullshit. You guys are undercharging some while overcharging others and though I wasnt overcharged, Im upset that you took advantage of my cousin, possibly because shes a few shades darker than me.

I’ve been going to Jess for my eyebrows for about 8 years, and I wouldn’t trust anyone else with them! I’ve followed her from Lincoln Park to Evanston to Salon Echo- I’ll travel more than an hour both ways to go see her! 10/10!

THis is a small local salon. Very warm, and welcoming as soon as you walk in the door. MAria is the owner, who always has a smile on her face and makes sure to introduce herself to very guest that walks in. Not only do they offer salon services but Spa services as well.

I came in for a pedicure, the thing i disliked is that the lady used old gloves that looked like they have been used repeatly with their clients. following day i was itchy and i noticed that i was getting foot fungus. i give them credit for their work but they need to start using disposable gloves no one knows what each client has going on with their feet and using old gloves is just passing on the bacteria.
