Tomorrow is my birthday, & Ive been hearing such nice things about Lux that I decided to go check them out.... Mercedes (Mani/Pedi), Ashley (Brows) & Amber (Lashes) is the bomb.com they made the experience very enjoyable.... Its a guy that works there too I forgot his name but he had a great personality & keep cracking jokes.... The staff was like a big happy family, I loved the vibe & the JELLY PEDI π₯°
So this was my FIRST time at this place and my best friends second time. I heard they do good work so despite the reviews i went. I went FIRST THING TODAY(7/15/2021) at 10:30am. i waited 30 minutes before I went to the front counter only to find out my nail tech never showed up or wasnt responding. My best friend and I were there when it opened. I had to return at 2pm (when i had free time) to get my nails done. Now my best friend returned with me, same rescheduled time, and was NEVER SEEN OR UPDATED. As i was getting my nails done. People came after her, and their services started but still she sat. 1 hour and a half later she was then approached by a staff member that a tech was available. I was already done and at this time it was 4:30p. We got there at 10:30 wasnt serviced on time, left and returned some hours later and only i was seen and not friend until in totality 2 hours later. I had to leave and return. The work immaculate however timeliness was ATROCIOUS and there seemed to be a lot of confusion about what nail techs were ACTUALLY there.I wont be returning unless i have to and my day is COMPLETELY CLEAR.A person should only expect to spend 2 hours at a nail salon and thats assuming you walk in.WE MADE APPOINTMENTS and the delays to be seen didnt make the trip worth it.This definitely left a bad first impression.
This was my first time at Lux Nails.I no longer have to ask every woman I see where did you get your nails done because this is now my forever spot!EVERYONE is so nice, knowledgeable and professional. The young lady running the salon was absolutely adorable π as was the nail technician who did my nails. The place was so clean and organized I thought it was a brand new establishment. I recommend that everybody who wants to get their nails done perfectly should go there.
Great service! TRILOGY did my no chip manicure and pedicure. She listened and was very accomodating. I would only suggest the no chip polish for the nails isnt so separated from the cuticles. As a result, the nails look new instead of like there is a need for a fill-in. Prices were fair. I paid $35 for my nails and $40 for my toes. FYI, if you receive more than 1 color on your nails or toes, expect to pay $5 extra per color. I gave a tip because Trilogy was so patient with me and shaped both my nails and toes very well. I am a happy trooperπ π¦Ά
The place cute but a bit cluttered. I booked with Mercedes! she did not have a welcoming demeanor or personality. Her attitude was slightly agitated, and it felt like she didnt want to be there. Her service is mediocre at best she speeds through the entire process and does not provide the expected care to the nails (especially the cuticles, she didnt even attempt to clean up my cuticles). Her work is lazy, sloppy, & inconsistent; the shape of each nail was completely dissimilar. She left my real nails glued to my fingers which felt uncomfortable, the acrylic was applied so messily and looked very unprofessionally done (looked like terrible press-on nails). I dont see myself getting any services from this place again because my experience with Mercedes was terrible and I paid way too much for mediocre work which is sad because i was looking forward to supporting my people.Note to Mercedes: You work in the service industry and your energy and your provided service plays a huge roll in your success. When arriving to work try checking your attitude at the door also take your time and pay attention to your work you obviously have talent but rushing through gives amateur results. My pedicure fine the pedicurist was very late so I sat for very long time waiting for her but the care and attention my feet were given kinda made up for it. The polish was a bit messy but not the worst.
My daughter and I went to Lux Nail Boutique today and I must say it felt so good to see person of color greet you with such pleasantness and a genuine smile. They were very professional it was comfortable the music was on point and they have a special waiting room for you to wait while other clients are being taken care. Once you enter the door again youre greeted with pleasantry kindness and a genuine smile and youre entering into their black owned beauty supply area, with everything you can possibly think of that you might want sometimes we have so many stops to make just to get exactly what we need as black women,Us women of color and we have to go so far but at Lux Nail Boutique!!! black owned. its a One Stop Shop and I got to browse the beauty supply area while my daughter were on the list waiting to be called. The waiting room was nice peace and quiet and six feet is very much well practice. Mask on!!! then as we waited we were called to the front by someone who came and got us. Management is on point! The Lux family is on point! I did not mind spending the money that I spent because it was well worth it and if you want great quality and Something Beautiful with great treatment you need to check out Lux nail boutique my daughter and I did just off of searching for a Nail Salon. My daughter is 16 and She said Mom this is the best experience ive ever had at a nail salon and I have to say we are not going to anyone else except for Lux!!!! Thank You Lux Family for taking care of us. Mrs.Charlene Galloway and Daughter Jamaria.ππππ
I only gave it 2 stars because my nails was the only thing that I felt was professionally done. So my sister traveled from done south to spend me and her birthday week here in Chicago where I reside. We decided to get our nails done so I decided to go to a location that my friend went to when it first opened. I always said I wanted to try Lux and I wanted to support the black businesses. So I called to see if they were accepting walk-ins. They were. We finally get there (coming from the south suburbs mind you). And tell the fabulous well greeted individual, whom we told we wanted our nails done. We were told they werenβt doing artificial due to a meeting. Just basic mani-pediβs. So we looked around in the new part of the store at the beauty stuff and I looked up a nearest location to get what I want. As we proceed to leave we were stopped by a lady and she told us to come to the mail side to get our nails done. I proceeded to tell her I thought we couldnβt get artificial so we weβre going elsewhere. I was told not to worry and sit. So she proceeded to do my nails. (β€οΈ) my sister literally was waiting just for a no chip pedicure with the extra nail added on the toe for whomever knows how long. My nails were almost done and no one was in the chairs. So the lady doing my nails finally said that can someone help her. A man got my sister settled down and proceeded to start. Turns out in the conversation between him and my sister. He didnβt like touching feet. He only started because of the lady in his life. So as I finished up and am about to get ready for my pedi Iβm told I canβt anymore and they can just do a polish on them. This literally had me so upset because they could of let us taken our business elsewhere. So upset I just breathe and said ok. The young lady although nice wasnβt a professional either as the young man wasnβt. She had to constantly do my feet over and over. The no chip literally was coming off only 2days on having it on. My sister was so disappointed in her pedicure also. She told me when I come down south. She will show me what a real nail shop is because of that horrible experience. They even made me late for my own party. We were there for almost 4 hours and it wasnβt a full hours. Literally we were 2/4 of the customers that were there. And my sister hated they prices. She said for the service we received they at least could of applied a discount. I told my friend whom told me about the place and she also had a bad experience when she returned. She told me to never go back and to only go to this new location she been going to since she stop returning to them.
I love the atmosphere and the staff is great, but my no chip didnβt last a week on my hands. I do have oily nail beds, but I expected at least a week. My toes are still PERFECT & I will be going back to get a pedi for sure, but maybe next time an overlay to help the gel last.
Had a great experience at Lux Nail. Trilogee gave the best and most thorough manicure Ive ever had. The process to get in and out was smooth.
Scam. I went for five feed in braids yesterday. That cost me $155. Thank goodness Iβd already washed my own hair, it wouldβve been an extra $25. I brought my own hair because I wanted color. Thankfully so, because upon arrival I discovered they make you supply your own braiding hair (they donβt mention this on the site). But, donβt worry, they have hair you can buy once you get there. Expensive hair of course. I also got my nails done there at Valentineβs Day. The nail tech lied and said nobody there did dip powder (she didnβt know how to do it) and then did a bogus job with the acrylics. I made her take the ugly designs off my hands before I left. I paid $50 for a volcano pedicure and it was not worth the name. Basic $25 pedicure. Save your time and money. Great concept, poorly executed. I donβt have a problem paying for quality, but this ainβt it.
Every time I come to this boutique it gets more Amazing than the last visit. Their professionalism and customer service is spectacular. Nail techs, beauticians, etc are Beyond Good at their work. The new beauty supply within the shop is well organized and have great choices for Natural hair, which are hard to find, as well as beautiful soft bundles (Hair/extensions). Instead of ordering and waiting, just a quick run to the boutique! I had a chance to work with William. He Knows Everything & Helped with Everything, and if he doesnβt know heβll find out for you. This place is Astonishing! Owned by a Black Woman, her Boutique is a Great Representation of how hard she has worked and it shows.
I like that the actual location is very spacious and its not cluttered or like stuffy and they offer different services which is great not just nail Care but they have a section for products as well as if Im not mistaken hair surfaces what I didnt like was that the girl that did my pedicure it seemed like maybe she was in a rush and she didnt really polish my whole toe she left she didnt go from base to cuticle and she didnt go from corner to corner thats the best way I can explain it
It was nice to be accommodated at te last minute and on a bust weekend. It appeared as if they cleaned but not necessarily on a daily basis and they definitely didnt clean the stations between clients. They didnt use new materials like new emery boards or new buffers that a lot of places will use fresh out of the package. The technician doing my nails seemed a bit rushed and so the final job was sloppy and not neat. Not likely perhaps in a pinch if no other options are available Will I go back to this place.
Nail techs dont get there untill 11-12 even though they open at 10am. Waited 30 mins for the manager to tell me they dont go over people work. Not to mention the lady in the front did not inform me of that important. Will not return
First letβs start with they didnβt start my appointment on time! I was booked for 3pm and didnβt get started til 4:15. Second I booked a special, I.T was $100 and included a no chip jelly pedi(which the lady didnβt do) and a custom full set that included 2 bling nails, two feature nails, and up to 2 colored acrylics. When it was time to pay I was charged for length, shaping, and extra shaping for 4 stiletto nails. I have never in life been charged for getting my nails shaped square! The nail tech didnβt even say all of this was an extra charge as she did my nails! This is why you canβt support black businesses, they are the biggest scam artist ever! Regular pricing disguised as a special.
Very kind customer service. Horrible execution on the 3 occasions that Iβve had pedicures and full sets in terms of quality. The last appointment was canceled after traveling a considerable distance from the suburbs to support a B.O.B. because they no longer had the supplies to complete the service I confirmed a second time the day before. They need quality employees to complete their services offered and better communication.
Despite the bad reviews I had seen/heard over and over including one from my best friend I decided to wait some months and try them myself. Glad I did but still some improvement is needed.I called ahead of time to see if they accepted walk-ins because it said they were booked when I tried to book online for a special I wanted and Torrien (sp) told me that he would see if he could squeeze me in. Called me back two times; first time I specifically asked if the special would be honored since I couldnβt book online and he said it would in fact be honored. Then the second time he called and said that he had 2 techs bored and wanting to do something.Got taken care of immediately upon arrival, Tati was my tech (super sweet!) . Got a no chip jelly pedi, very cool experience. I told her that I wanted a French manicure on my hands and she informed me that it was $15 extra and I was cool with that, not really sure how much extra it typically is. Again, very sweet, but the corners of the French no chip were pretty sloppy after I asked them to be fixed and the polish started messing up later that day. My no chips never mess up so it could just be operator error with the lights they had that you place your hand under and probably cause some of the white polish was placed on kinda thick for The French tip. When I was checking out I informed the girl at the front what Torrien said about honoring the online special since I couldnβt book it online and she said she had to ask him when he got back. He comes walking back in the door and I mentioned what we had spoke about over the phone and he proceeded to tell me that it was a miscommunication and it was only a $10 difference anyway.I wouldβve thought it was an actual miscommunication til he shooed me off the way he did, definitely didnβt like that cause it wasnβt professional.Overrall decent experience. Iβll be back to try something different. I love to support my own!
Loved my pedicure! I will be back! Love supporting black owned businesses.
ABSOLUTELY TRASH! WASTED TIME & $ THEN WAS OVERCHARGED AND CUT FINGERS & TOES FROM POOR SERVICE. DO NOT GO HERE! NAIL TECH EVEN TRIED TO FIGHT CLIENT!
I went the year they firstopened, Twice. First time was ok and triedgiving them a second change, it was horrible. Theyre nice, but theladies that i keep getting cant do nails. I said that i wad going to wait until i know for sure that theyre set in and better, went two weeks ago and it was worse! The girl was mad because i was a walk in and she didnt want to do anymore nails, so she barely talked to me and had an attitude when she did. My nails were uneven, and different and they did not look anything like the photo that i showed her. I had to have her sculpt the nails that were uneven. They offered to redo the nails for me within 5 days, but the one day that i could come they are closed and the other days i am at work when they open and get off after they close.
It was okay. Everyone was nice and courteous. It was just something different Ive never seen before. The quality of the work was average. I probably wont be back but I didnt mind the experience.
Ive gone to Lux Nails a few times in the past. For the first time last week, I tried getting my hair done there. The day before my wig installation appointment, I purchased a $500 wig that is NOT upholding to the quality or standard expressed to me, even with proper care.. The next day, the stylist was excessively late. I was in a bind for my event the next day so I waited longer than I normally would have. Once, she arrived she rushed through the install, overbleached the hair, didnt pluck the wig and did a quick once over flat iron. I received a discount for her tardiness but left that establishment MORTIFIED. I had to pick up my son at OHara within an hour of being done so I had no adequate time to make any solid demands for her to fix it.Two days later, Williesha at Urban Legends on E. 79th Street SAVED MY WEDDING DAY. I walked out feeling beautiful like I SHOULD HAVE $700 later at Lux Beauty!! They are Black owned (which I love). However, I believe that they have too many hands in the bucket (Nails, Hair, Beauty Supply) that their quality of service is drastically suffering. NEVER AGAIN will they get one dollar from me. Urban Legend lived up to its name and its right around the corner from LUX/BUST BEAUTY!
Friendly nail tech Taylor, did my pink and white Ombre. So pretty! Only critique would be the seating was uncomfortable. The chair for my pedicure was too low. Same for my nails.
I will say the customer service was great. I love to support my people. The fact that this is a one stop shop is amazing. Seeing all the black techs was a good feeling, but lets talk about service. I arrived early for my appointment and was checked in and told I could shop around while my tech got ready for me. I did shop and purchased a few things, then went back to meet my tech. I cant remember her name but she was very nice. Unfortunately I dont think she is up to par when it comes to doing nails. Im extremely picky when it comes to how my nails look and for the amount I paid, I was not happy with the results. A couple of my nails was crooked, the acrylic on some was way thicker than the others, one of my nails wouldnt even stay on, I had to ask her to shape and clean the caked up acrylic off of a few of them, I hated the bling design on both nails, she was shaking while doing my nails(she said she had diabetes and was having a sugar crash), so she needed to stop a couple times to eat candy(that part I didnt have a problem with, her health was important). Some of the nails was longer than the other. Also I paid for a certain package but was charged extra for my nail length when I was never even asked if I wanted to pay extra for a certain length in the first place. It took her almost 3 hours to do my nails because she was going so slow, had to stop to constantly look for her tools and was shaking because she had low sugar. It was just all to much. Then I had to wait 30 minutes for someone to do my pedicure because they was short staffed. I spent almost 5 hours in this place. The pedicure was beyond sub par. Just not worth the price or the time. The atmosphere and vibe was cool, but they need better techs and more techs so the wait wont be so long. I wont be back.
It was a really nice place to visit. It is a nail salon but also a beauty supply. They had great products and the staff is very friendly. I will definitely frequent them as much as possible.
Jetuan was very friendly, professional and quick. Loved my hair will be back to them definitely!
I went in for an acrylic fullset and asked for a vline design and they was all crooked. Mercedes didnβt even clean my cuticles or the excess polish. The lines were crooked and lumpy. The polish was lumpy. I already scheduled an appointment the next day to have them removed and redone at another salon. She was rushing because she was tired and threatened not to fix them if she messed up. And my pedicure was done sloppy as well. Now the customer service representative at the desk is kind but shady. I will never come here again unless its for the beauty supply.
Paid 50$ for this horrible set. Nail tech by the name of TAY TAY took an hour and a half to do them, taking her sweet time and continuously stopping to text the ENTIRE time. My Thumbs are 2 different shapes and lengths & she did not even file or use the drill near my cuticle. Just slapped on acrylic very sloppily & let dry. donβt waste your time and hard earned money supporting a bad business.
I really enjoy supporting blacked owned businesses but I have had both manicures and pedicures at this location the pedicure was subpar very quick very rushed I had asked for a paraffin wax added to my pedicure and it was like they wanted to talk me out of it because only one person knew how to do it. For the manicure I got a full set acrylic and it was cute but a couple of my nails popped off before even two weeks were up. I had this happen on two different occasions with two different technicians. I think that they focus more on the design and not on the base or the foundation of the actual application. I think they have people that are new to the field working there and not a lot of people with experience.
The staff were so professional, attentive, and showed great customer service. Christine and Cassandra most definitely hooked me up and got me together with the pedicure done by Christine and manicure done by Cassandra. Thanks Lux Nail Boutique and ladies.π₯°
My appointment was at 12 p.m, I sat and waited in an empty shop for an hr just for me return to the front desk and ask how much longer, I was told an additional 10 min after being there since 11:45 a.m, paying $10 to book an appointment, and no effective communication, I decided to leave. I will support B.O.Bs that practice Professionalism and Courtesy. I gave them 1 star because they allowed me to give a little constructive criticism.i can not reccomend this place because I received no service
I want to post no stars the girl who attempted to do my nails messed up my cuticles and started to give me the wrong polish. I had to fix and file my own nails then they made me pay 20 for that horrible service or come back for someone else to fix. Horrible service and just horrible all the way around. I would never come back or recommended them. No good customer service at all or even service recovery.
The atmosphere and staff are π₯π₯π₯. Definitely recommend !
Came in as a walk-in as was taken great care of. Was very pleased
Kasandra did a wonderful job on my nails, good energy, great services. I wont go anywhere else
I saw pictures online so I was really excited about coming just based on how aesthetically pleasing the shop is. I read the reviews and while they were not all good they were not all bad so I decided to make an appointment and see for myself. You can only schedule an appointment via the website and since I would be new I let the system choose for me and I took the first available appointment on Monday morning (9/14).The appointment time was 10:30 and the shop opened at 10. Even though I read reviews about how tardy the operation was I still wanted to have my own experience. I made sure to arrive on time so as not to get my appointment cancelled and be charged a fee.I arrived at 10:26. The young lady greeted me and informed me that the lady I had an appointment with βdoes not work Mondays and our system keeps doing thatβ. Ok fine. I was asked to wash my hands and told to sit in the back waiting area. I then overheard that two techs were running late and Iβll be seen as soon as possible. One of the techs showed up but her appointment was already waiting. Then I overhear the young lady who greeted me say βwell she was supposed to be here by 11 but she just called and said sheβs not comingβ. Then I was told I will be βpreppedβ by someone who Iβm assuming was a student in the nail classes they offer. By 11:45 all I had done was base of my full set. No powder no gel no nothing.Long story short I did not leave this place until 2:30PM! The sad part is I love my nails but I cannot return to support a place that does not respect the customers time. And here are the honorable mentions of things I did not like and should be brought to the owners attention:β’While getting prepped rude customer comes in. Hollering being disrespectful. When the rude customer is getting re-services the tech is talking badly about other techs in the shop and about the tech that did the customers nails. And because she acted a fool they had to squeeze her in and her services were free. Which Iβm sure added to the amount of time that I had to spend there.β’After prep was finished at 11:45 Iβm waiting to get my actual nails done.β’Waiting and three techs step out to take a break. Likely a smoke break. Which wouldβve been fine if they werenβt gone more than 20 min with customers waiting.β’Dressed unprofessional. Sweats and flips with socks. Literally looking like they just got rolled out of bed.β’Manager not even sure who was supposed to be working. Where is the OWNER?!
I have been hearing how great this place is and decided to try it out. Unfortunately, that never happened because the lash tech, ASHLEY, never showed up. Then 20 minutes past my appointment time she calls the front and tells him to push my appt. back an hour and 15mins. Ummmmm....lady I have things to do! Lol I had to cancel my appointment, Iβm going out of town so Iβm really disappointed. The cashier/receptionist/manager was very nice and professional. I ended up still spending almost $100 bc he was so nice. The store/shop is super cute too! BUT, yall gotta do better. How are you going to require a deposit and not even show up?
I highly recommend this salon. its black owned and excellent service! the salon is gorgeous on the inside! they sell quality wigs and bundles as well as hair styling. social distancing is enforced. not long waiting time. please go to this salon! they accept walk ins and appointments. the service I got was a pedicure which is $30. WORTH IT π
This place does nice work but there is always a wait. I made an appointment and was double scheduled. I ended up wait 2 and a half hours for a nail tech and eventually just asked for a refund. I feel this was completely unacceptable and I am very sad this happened sense this is my go to place. Guess I have to look around for something else. Also management should give a heads up call or email if you know your techs are three hours behind scheduled. Just as a common curiosity.
Great place. But I need all ur staff to b at one speed. My artist brittini is the best can do anything. I had got another person cause of there computer system. N wen I say it felt like it was the girl first day. No maam. Then manager say well nun of our artist can do work like brittini. Yea so I learn how to do my own on young nails on youtube.
The vibes were great, but my NO CHIP, chipped in less than a week! Iβm upset not gonna lie, they hire people who donβt really know what they are doing and are learning as they go. Which is fine, but donβt practice on my feet!
No chip did not last 3 nails was chipped a week later, silk press is over priced at $80 for hair to be frizzy 2 days later.
Spent $60 for polish change and design with glitter that only lasted for the day. Wont go back.
I got my nails done for my birthday and within a week they were popping off like they were press ons! Very disappointed that it was first time and never going back again.
COME GET SLAYED AND WHIPPED AT LUX! VIVIANNA IS AMAZING. WILLIAM IS WONDERFUL. YOU WANT TO BE HERE!!!
I scheduled a morning appointment and paid the deposit. I received an email and text confirmation. Upon arrival of my 9:30a appointment, the establishment was shuttered closed. I was unable to reach anyone by phone or email, and left after 10 minutes.*The business reached out to me later that day and offered an apology, a refund on my deposit, and a free pedicure. Although Im not inclined to return, I appreciate their effort to make it rignt.
Donβt waste your money. My nails started lifting after a couple of days & popped off on day 4 both times I had my nails done. I really wanted to support a black owned business but this wonβt be the one. In the 15 years Iβve been getting acrylic nails Iβve never had my nails pop off like that, ever. It was as if I had press on nails and for over $100 I expect to be able to wear them for at least 2 weeks. My pedicure was half assed the first time and was done with an attitude the second time. As you can see in the picture, they popped off easily and are intact. Iβm not the first review with this feedback so Iβm surprised this issue hasnβt been corrected. Wait time was okay, some nail techs were friendly. The second nail tech I had was not. She only spoke to the customer next to me and talked about how hungry she was. I will not be going back nor recommending Lux to anyone.
This happened 2 hours ago, I waited until I got home to write this because i was so irritated. If I could give zero stars, that would be ideal.I tried my best to support a black business. I drove 40 mins to the south side of Chicago. I arrived a few minutes early and the shutters were still down so i waited until exactly 9:30 which was my appointment time for them to open. The sidewalk was not shoveled at all, not even an attempt to provide access to paying customers. I entered the establishment to be greeted by an individual with no mask on and an unpleasant attitude. She informed me that the nail tech i scheduled (Viviana) would be late and I could look around or have a seat in the waiting room. She did apologize for the inconvenience. I wanted to leave after 15 mins but I was trying to be understanding. I waited 30 mins, no update on the techβs ETA was given. I had to go to the front of the store. The clerk at the front who had the nose piercing and orange shirt with braids was on the phone so I waited. There was another individual at the front she was conversing with prior to the call. I waited and the two continued a conversation as if i was not standing there. The clerk did not acknowledge me standing there and through the whole encounter she didnβt even make eye contact with me.I donβt have a desire to ever return, horrible customer service. I will never waste my time like this again.
Sub par nail technicians that focus more on design than actually laying a good foundation that is shaped correctly
Maria did an awesome job on my jelly no chip pedicure.
I tried to support this Black Business but it is terrible. I decided to give it another try after the first time I went was bad. I went in for OmbrΓ© and these nails are terrible no where near ombrΓ©. My nails werenβt shaped. I wasnβt even asked what shape I wanted. I will never go back again!
Amazing service loved my nails. Their polite and welcoming when you walk inπ€
The decor there was really nice they had wine and juice but I paid $85 for My service and now 5days later my nails are starting to lift up they are on the verge of popping off I sat in that shop 6 hours getting serviced thatβs ridiculous even as a walk in no one should be waiting that long to get nails and feet done also the lady who did my nails name is Taylor
Will be my second servicè with them next week. Looking forward!
Tried to make a appointment for the morning the night before and same morning before the opening of business, no open appointments til after 4pm. So I called and asked to make an appointment over the phone, was told I need to do it online or I could do a walk in, walked in 45 mins later sign says not taking any walk ins. I ring the bell twice no one opens the door theyre just looking at me. I call from my car the manager tells me to come in and that Ill be seen since I called. Waited over a hour for nothing! It was one person called to be serviced in that time and six people waiting all while the manager was sitting at a station playing on her phone. Really! I left and I will NOT be back. Unprofessional, to say the least.
I really dont understand the negative reviews this place has. Every time I come here I have a wonderful experience. Im not taking anything away from anyone, to each his own but I have nothing but good to say. My nails always on point, the price I pay, is on point and If I am unsatisfied with anything, they work to get me satisfied, so customer service is on point. loyal customer.
Well to start I arrived on time 5:15pm for a scheduled appointment. I was seated and wasnβt called to the front until 6pm, were I sat another 40 min before I was told to sit in another chair. Here I was introduced and she started my nails 10 min later! Well I didnβt leave until 9. I wasnβt really satisfied with my nails, but I made no complaints! Got to the register and was given a $5 discount for my having to wait for a available nail tech! I really appreciated that! I just wish my freestyle nails looked a lil better!
My friend & my PET PEEVE! My friend took her kid to get her hair braided & paid a deposit. The hair stylist came & left with no vehicle. She stated that she was going to grab items from the beauty supply store. My friends child is sitting there, hair not washed & all waiting. She couldβve at least washed the her hair & put her under the dryer & then ran to the beauty supply store. This is what we mean by UNPROFESSIONAL black folks. My friend made a complaint to the so called βmanagerβ & she threw her shoulders up & said she canβt control her stylist! And then she want to get upset with my friend! Irritated π£ Lux Hair & Nail Boutique
This place is not for a person my age. Arrived early, didnt take long for nail service. Didnt know I had to wait another 2 hours for a pedicure. No communication. I paid for my nails and left. Wont go back nor will I recommend anyone. π
Had a couple experiences prior, not too good, but went this evening and Brittany did my nails. Omg I looooooove her! Definitely vibing with her energy and my nails are super dope! I just told her the color and she took over, lol she ainβt even wanna see the picture she said naw I got thisπwill go back to her only tho.
Got My brows done. Very nice and gentle young lady. Not the best Iβve had but I want to continue to support black-owned businesses.
Got a nice pedicure here. It was a fun time. Bright and funny workers especially the girl I had. I was laughing the whole time. It was awesome Ill definitely be back for more. I love this place. Very elegant atmosphere! I see why its called Lux!
Great service, everyone is so polite and talented with doing nails.
Very disappointing. Zero stars is what this visit deserves. First, I was there for 6 hours! Waited for 2, then too 4 hours to screw my nails up!!! The person Chrissy they paired me with cant be a true nail tech! My nails are awful, I need them redone! The website pics are deceiving based on my botched nail job. The owner should offer to redo this mess. I will be reaching out and asking for a redo! Im embarrassed by my nails, Im known for having Beautiful nails!
Iβm extremely disappointed with my experience here today. After framing my day around my appointment and arriving 10 minutes prior to my appointment time, I wasnβt seated with the nail tech until 40 minutes past my appointment time.Things happen right? Wrong! The young lady was just rude. Her attitude was as if she just didnβt care, didnβt want to be there, didnβt want to be asked anything, didnβt want to be bothered. I tried to give her a general idea of what I wanted and even referenced a picture from the salons social media page, but I was specific that it did not have to be exact. Iβm COMPLETELY understanding that art is subjective. As the service continued, I tried to ask another question about the differences between the nail art/designs etc but she seemed annoyed so I just stopped asking/talking. I had every intention on getting a pedicure as well but by the time my nails were done I just wanted to get as far away from this salon as I could. My nails are HIDEOUS. Hideous is an understatement. I can not even put into words how bad they look. No, I didnβt complain to anyone in the shop simply because I was just over the whole experience. I paid the $70 that was asked and left. This was a complete waste of time and money...and consequentially is turning into an even bigger waste because I have to have these nails soaked off and redone... somewhere else. This was absolutely my first and last time patronizing this business.
Appointment is strongly recommended for this establishment. Theres no telling how long you will have to wait if you walk in. Online they say that they serve you mimosas but apparently you would have to ask for it. I was not offered a drink until someone else asked about it. I will recommend that they allow customers to come in with their own bottles because I dont know what type of wine they was giving away I didnt like it. Overall my services were good and I will recommend this place and Ill be back.
My first time getting my nails done in over a year. Very happy with the no chip mani and spa pedi. The nail shop looks like a scene from a movie, with pink and white as the main colors and black highlights. The nail tech, although late, was very professional and accomodating. Didnt complain because the waiting area was beautiful and huge. If the salon had massage chairs, it would have been heavenly. Loved the experience.
My lashes came off in couple hours!!!!π€¬
The no chip manicure was poorly done, the workers themselves are unprofessional. They talk over you, even if Youre not interested in talking just want peace and quiet. They try to put on a show talking trash. No one wants to hear about how you need a man, etc. Respect your clients youre running a business. I look forward to supporting Black businesses but youre going to be loud and obnoxious, ill go where its given.
Super polite and professional. Very precise and thorough with the service even if it does take a longer time. At least they try to make sure youre right upon leaving. The complimentary wine was DEFINITELY a plus!
I completely understand this is a new business. I had a 1:30 appointment and I was not seen until 2:30. The staff is super unprofessional and the nail salon is not well kept. There was a huge box used to throw garbage away and the floor was in need of a good sweeping. The reception desk had wires hanging everywhere. My nails service was extremely basic almost as if the young ladies are fresh from nail school. I was expecting a classy nail salon with great customer service. I was so excited to support this black business. I will not be back again.
Today was my first visit. I was greeted and seated immediately, by the owner. Very nice and cordial. My nail person was Ayesha, hardworking and friendly. The shop is immaculate and they serve refreshments. I will return and I urge anyone that wants a professional, quiet and friendly atmosphere please try them.BTW my nails are beautiful!
Loved it here. My Wife got her nails done here. Great customer service. Even offered me beverages while i waited. She loved everything. Will definitely be back. Thanks for recommending this Laura!
As a first time client, I expected it to be a little more clean, unfortunately the name doesnt do the inside justice. Truly appreciated the glass of wine, I just wish the staff represented the name as well. Presentation is everything and unfortunately, they were lacking in that area. The first tech who performed my services did not do a good job, but I returned and Tyler was exceptional! She did an amazing job on my nails. She would be the reason I returned.
My daughter and I got our nails done today and are very happy with the results. The atmosphere was very nice and we were seen right away for our appointments. The people there were nice and we will be back. Im glad this nail salon is right around the corner from my house.
I visited this salon on 6/27. First, I booked an appt for 9:30. When I arrived the shop was boarded up, closed. An employee did not arrive until 10:00. She was not my nail tech, Stephanie, but she took me. My scheduled nail tech had an emergency, which made her late. While there, appointments arrived. Stephanie had to tell them to take a seat until someone arrived, at 11:00. I also received a pedicure. I had to wait until techs arrive. When they did arrive I was not the first one taken, as there were others waiting. Stephanie had to inform techs I was the first appt and should have been taken first.Stephanie did a wonderful job on my nails, as did the tech who did my pedicure. The presentation of the facility is impressive. Unfortunately, not the service.I intentionally looked for a Black-owned business after my previous nail moved. I am disappointed that this business, CLEARLY, did not have their stuff together. I previously have not patronized Black-owned businesses because of previous experiences of tardiness, no sense of urgency when dealing with clients, and not being organized and efficient. I was again disappointed with LUX Nail Bouque as they reiterated my previous experiences. I do not understand why this scenario happens with Black-owned businesses!I now need a refill, and I am torn on if I want to go back, or look for someone else. I would like to give Lux another chance, but I do not have time to waste sitting in a salon all day.
I Iook to support black-owned business. I was a walk in, waited over two hours to get a Spa manicure. The nail tech gave me a Gel manicure (my 1st) although I told her I wanted a Spa, and it was written in the book. I explained to the young lady at the register that there was a mix up but she just stood there waiting for full payment.Insult to injury, although the nail tech (Mexican young woman) was nice, the job is not that good. Ive had better manicures done and for cheap. I have one finger thats has problem cuticles, which I had to trim once I got home because a piece of cuticle was sticking out. Plus the overall job isnt as good as it should be. The polish on one of my nails came halfway off the next day. Unacceptable for a $35 manicure.Another issue...People there with kids. Kids running around and loud. Going back and forth getting water just to be doing something.. Never again.
Speaking from my experience i called in to let them know I was going to be 5-10 minutes late and got hung up on. I had to call back. First of all when I called in the person who answered did not answer the phone in a professional way. So when I arrived I asked for a style the same as the picture that they advertised on their instagram and their actual website. This was a style that they kept promoting only to find out that cant even do the style. So I chose a different style and the woman who was assigned to do my nails DID NOT want to do it because she did not like the style I chose for myself. She was loud, outspoken, very talkative and there were points where she kept talking to her coworkers instead of doing my nails. I was literally there for 6 hours and Im not joking. She and a couple of the employees talked bad about customers in front of me. My nails didnt come out even close to the alternative pic I chose. They were not as good and were overpriced.
I absolutely loved it from the decor on the walls to the customer service. β€οΈ The nail techs are so friendly and welcoming. I got my nails done twice here & both sets lasted for over a month. They were not rushed or sloppy. I always enjoy my experience here. Iβll be back in about a month. Good job ladies.
What a splendid time spent. The service was great I absolutely LOVE my nails. Its been 9 days and they still feel and look new. The tech really took her time. I will definitely be back again.
First time going to a black owned nail salon. I enjoyed the atmosphere however service was mediocre. I received a basic gel full set from nail tech Keyanna. She was rough with my nails which resulted in minor blood around my nails. 3 nails arenβt smooth because of her application of the gel. One of those three nails have a curvy coffin shape. A basic gel set only available for Mon & Wed was advertised as $28, I personally needed a soak off which was $10 then ended up paying $50 total & receptionist didnβt do a great good at explaining these charges. Overall, itβs a nice set from a distance. Most likely will not be returning & I hope other peopleβs experiences will be better than mine.
Advertisement is not true to form. you are paying for gorgeous decor. but the service leaves alot to be imagine. I can only go off my own experience. For the women whom did my nails she was very abrupt and rude. put her headphones in entire time. every question I asked she rolled her eyes like I was annoying her. Had no problem conversing coworkers while simultaneously ignoring me. Greeter was friendly. As well as lash tech. Booking a appointment for a particular price and picture style is a lie. Also asked for some water was ignored.
Awesome Salon!!!! I love the presentation of the atmosphere. Everyone was very professional and concern. The wine was great. I support black business. My nails are fabulous. Mayra is the bomb!!!!!
