Just got back from a beard trim and I love the work the barber did. My beard hangs evenly on my face, and all the little flyaway hairs have been clipped. And the barber shook my hand afterward. A small detail, I admit. But as shaking hands dissapeared for a long while during the pandemic, this gesture was not lost on me, and turned a pleasant experience into a great experience.

After looking for local barbershops to support, I decided on Irving Park Barbershop. It was everything I was looking for. Great vibes, good music, and as I found out -- high-quality service. Zac did an excellent job and was super nice and personable. Ill definitely be coming back.

The barbers do a great job! They are following proper COVID protocols. And the shop is super cool. Go there once and you’ll go back for sure.

I am literally appalled by the haircut I got here. I asked for a trim. I explained that I wanted length in the front and on the sides and I really emphasized that I wanted length. He chopped off everything. It looks terrible and I am embarrassed that a barber could disregard the request of a client so blatantly. Short of straight up buzzing everything, I dont think he could have done a worse job. I will not be returning.

Always a friendly welcome and great music - it reminds me of hanging out with friends in their band practice space, if those friends had actually been super clean and knew how to decorate. And if they could also give you a great cut fast at a very reasonable price. Genuinely great guys and a great business.

The barbers are some of the most supportive [liberal] and caring people. They truly care about there craft and I am always able to speak freely about my thoughts, my concerns with society and they genuinely take part in the discussion. I’ve been there a half dozen times. But I won’t be returning after one of the hairstylists decided to be confrontational to me when I was a little vague and couldn’t get my words out right. I’m not a hairstylist. I don’t know the proper terminology to describe how I want my haircut, and I was bullied and demeaned for not knowing it. The hairstylist was overly aggressive in his frustration. As if he had just started the job and had never cut hair before. I decided to leave even before I got my haircut because it got to a point where I had the feeling where he was going to actively ruin my hair. I’m currently having a panic attack stemming from this incident. I was bullied and he ruined my day for having anxiety about getting a haircut and not being able to get my words out right.

Best place to get a tight cut in Chicago period! Love these guys. My son and I made it an experience, every few week we hang out and get a cut. The shave is done perfectly you need to call to see if they have time though.

Been getting my haircut here for four years. Its hard to say all the things that are amazing about this place. These guys are all do a great job at cutting your hair. Ive spent most of my life going to salons and paying top dollar for haircuts (literally, Ive done this from when I was 16 until I started coming here four years ago at 28 years old) but since Ive switched to coming to Irving Park Barbershop I havent regretted the decision once. They ALL do an excellent job with my hair (and Ive had all of them cut my hair multiple times) but if you do end up having a preference of who cuts your hair they have no problems letting you wait until the person you want is free. They dont take appointments but the wait is pretty rarely all that long (though there is often at least a little bit of wait). The good thing about waiting is that the atmosphere is exactly what you would dream a barbershop should look like, plus they have free cans of beer. OR, if you want to really enjoy your time you can join their pint club and get a rotating brew from their keg fridge. Its a cash only establishment (which I generally do my best to not support) but this place is just so cool that I dont care. Also, its suuuuuper cheap. You could get your haircut every week if you wanted to do. Jon, Jon, Jason, Zac (and most importantly Bob the shop dog) are all great dudes and I look forward to going to get my haircut every time. I cannot sing their praises enough. This might be my favorite business in Chicago.

I moved to Chicago about 4 years ago and stopped in here my first few weeks in town. I haven’t gone to a different barber since. These guys are awesome and give consistently great cuts every time.

Its not just that I got a really bad haircut. Its the hilarity of Chicago bro morons who work there that compels me to come here and give a bad review. I got my hair cut here and it was probably the best haircut Ive ever gotten. Like so good I want to post a selfie just to prove it. I did have to wait just a bit. This shop is old school: walk ins only and cash only. The atmosphere and service are top notch though.

My dad took me here for a trim because I came home with an out of control mullet that upset my mother. We listened to the Comey hearing which was pretty exciting, felt like a real community spot. Barber gave me a great mullet that looked great and still upset my mother. Great vibes and better cuts.

I love this barbershop and was incredibly lucky to find it when I moved to the north side. All the barbers are cool and service is always great. Plus, who doesnt like to have a beer while waiting?

All of the barbers here are on the same page when it comes to style so you dont have to worry about whos chair you sit in. I come here routinely because I can count on getting a clean and presentable cut for a very reasonable price.

Waited 20 minutes then realized I need to get more cash. But they said if I leave the store I have to put my name at the end. ATM is 100 yards from the store. So figured Id find a new barber instead.

Cool place and a decent haircut for not a terrible price, but this place has a very unpredictable wait time and they do not take appointments. Sometimes there is one guy in here on a Sunday with a huge line out the door. The number of barbers who show up to work is seemingly random. Im glad theyre getting lots of business but I wish they would just switch to an appointment system. I decided to stop coming here because the wait is so unpredictable.

So come in with $$ in your pocket or hit the Wintrust bank down the street.Ive had my hair cut by all of the different barbers and it has been the same great quality everytime.Check this place out for $25 a cut its way better than Great Clips, hair cuttery or any of those other chains.They also trim beards and use a razor with hot foam on the back of your neck. You leave feeling refreshed every time.

Got two haircuts there, and thats two too many. These guys dont listen to what you ask for at all. They just do what they want, or rather, what they know how. What part of clean it up, dont cut too high is difficult to understand?

First come first serve. More talk about some band they play in then actual hair cuts. I need to get another hair cut to fix the one they gave me. I didnt see a baber license anywhere in the shop.

Ive had some great cuts here. Id recommend but recently had a terrible experience. I asked for a 1 on the sides, like I do everywhere I go and inquired if that would qualify for a buzz cut price. He said, no, and that he would have to blend it....which is fine, I dont understand why youre telling me what I want for my haircut but Id rather let it go and come back another time. However, being laughed at and told this isnt Wal-Mart is ridiculous and unnecessary. I wont be going again. If you do go, I reccomend the owner, super kind and cordial, you can tell he owns the business and cares about his current and potential regular customers.
