We just hosted our daughter’s wedding at the Union League Club. Absolutely stellar experience from the start! Ken lead us in coordinating the details after we postponed our date a full year. What a professional! He is very experienced, scrupulous with details and endlessly patient with our concerns. Not only is ULCC spectacular with incredible history and charm - but the venue is perfect for hosting a wedding that includes an out of town guest list. The entire event from start to finish was perfect - all the staff is welcoming and friendly; the accommodations are amazing; and the food is incredible. We could not have been more satisfied!
Awesome place to work and visit. So much history, and amazing art throughout the entire edifice. They also have meeting spaces and several ballrooms for weddings and events.
Make sure you have credit card with you and make sure it has no problem. Other wise you can spend the night outside even if you have reservation and even if it is paid. Becayse they do not accept cash for incidentals. The receptionist was very rude
Attended multiple events here. What a great venue with historic character.
Food was great, staff were attentive. Too bad you must be a member to get in. Guess you have to live vicariously through my experiences.
The members were very nice, the staff however, were not
The staff at the ULCC is top notch. They give real life meaning to “going above and beyond”
Im a professional wedding planner and I adore planning weddings with the great team at Union League Club. We have worked with Ken most often and he is just amazing. The food is excellent, the staff is professional and the environment is elegant. You will love it!
Bouncing back from the tough COVID experience, the Club is operating with cautious protocols and safe practices. Same beautiful club, awesome service and food. Glad to visit again.
Staff was awesome. Great people
The finest city club in America. Historic and beautiful with top-notch food and service.
Excellent. Everything there and more.
Excellent staff and service 5 star club‼️
Great food and service
Delicious food, great atmosphere, friendly staff and good prices! it was kind of expensive, and it took a long time to actually get served.
Wonderful services and good food.
Unusual and old timey! Kinda neat, kinda stuffy. The private club vibe is notable. Felt like I was at my great grandmother’s house. Smells like an old museum. Worth a visit if you have a way in.
I grew up here because my father is a Judge!
The definition of true class.
Always the best service
If you would like to travel back in time to the 1920s take a tour of the place. We were there for an event. The decor is out of the past. Ask if they have a brochure with the history of the club. As the name implies it has to do with the union movement. You might search on Google if you are interested.
I was here for an event put on up on their smoking lounge. Phenomenal. Outside in October in the city, sitting on a couch next to a large fire having cigars with friends! Their selection of cigars is nice. The staff is very attentive. Wonderful.
Really awesome place for events and more. We had over 10 meetings and 20+ events last year and was super happy. Today they delivered again, love this place ❣️
The only problem here is the age of the building. Although some will say that this is one of the strengths of the club. Theres tons of history here everywhere you look. You also have the second most art here in Chicago for any private organization. There are hotel rooms, meeting rooms, workout rooms, swimming pools, lunch spots, a cigar spot, wedding spots, a terrible basketball court, small library, and just about anything else youd need. Only downside? Got to pay for clubs. Reminds me of an adult fraternity.
Professionalism off the charts. I attended an event and the level of elegance and taste not to mention the warmth of all the employees was a breath of fresh air. If I could recommend more than 5 stars I would.
I have never been treated as well as I was here. I was attending with a friend because his sister-in-law was performing, and we were welcomed despite our youth. I hope to have occasion to visit again.
This was my first time here. The venue is beautiful and the food was excellent. The service was wonderful. Compared to other clubs Ive been to in the Loop, the Union League Club is by far the best.
Went here with a colleague who is a member. I would definitely join if I lived in Chicago the place has everything under one roof... And great coffee
Inspiring and warm atmosphere. The food was good too. Id return if there were to be another event geared toward my interests.
Wonderful building. Beautifully appointed banquet facilities. Great collection of art. Each room has old school charm. Marble and mahogany throughout. Nice restaurants and pubs. Afternoon tea service. Lovely hotel rooms. Best of all - the ultimate in customer service.
Gorgeous and lovely. The staff is amazing abd hard working. Everything is so clean and so well cared for. The buffet luncheon i had was the best food this year in the city for me. The art work, of course, is fantastic. I cannot say enough good things about this Chicago Institution. Bravo !!!!!!!
I was treated to a lunch here from a great friend. The building decor is exceptional and allows one to escape the busyness of the city. The fine wood work and beautiful furniture make one appreciate the hard work and craftsmanship so many American workers provided in the past. The dining experience is first class from beginning to end. Each guest is treated as royalty. The steak was prepared magnificently and the vegetables were farm fresh. I was given a tour of the facility and all I can say is they do not construct a building with such style strength and pride anymore. The hotel is exceptional with absolute purity in each suite. The remainder of the club offers recreational and leisure activities for people of all ages. Attend!!!!!!
A beautiful wedding in their beautiful halls. The paintings look like originals. Who would expect to find a fireplace in the fifth floor? The steak was thick and juicy, so good. While we were dancing, they brought out cute little shakes and treats, all spectacular.
Perhaps the most unpleasant experience. My wife and I bid on an evening stay and a chefs tasting dinner at a silent auction. We were excited to learn that we won. We were interested in joining a club similar to this in Chicago as we live close to the Loop. The excitement quickly faded upon arrival.Thinking that it would be a nice stay during Spring Break we brought out 3rd grade daughter to enjoy the pool. When we got up to the pool, a member quickly greeted us and informed us that it was a lap pool only. The fun did not last for her as she swam 15 laps and was unable to jump in and splash a little.Next, we went to dinner in the Wigwam Room. Atmosphere was pleasant and appeared to have been recently remodeled. Service was spot on and friendly. The cauliflower appetizer and Braised Short Ribs were delicious. Our daughter had a wedge salad and a hamburger. A little surprised when we received the bill about the cost of our daughters dinner. $30 for a hamburger and $10 for a salad and another $10 for dessert. When I brought the cost to the attention of the server. He indicated that we did order off the childrens menu. We were never provided a childrens menu.We returned to the room. We did not sleep much as the back of the room is next to the elevator. We heard the inside mechanics of the elevator go up and down through out the night. It sounded like a scraping sound with the pulleys and cables moving up and down. In addition the toilet would randomly run through out the evening.Lastly at 6 am the neighbors alarm clock went off for 30 minutes. No one was in the room. It just went off endlessly. Walls are thin.Less than stellar experience. Will not be joining.
Excellent breakfast buffet! The gym was good but split up between 2 floors. The staff let me bring a kettlebell from one area to another so I could do my HIIT workout. Service is great and the hotel is spectacular. However, there is a dress code, just a fair warning.
Stayed here courtesy a friend whos a member. The rooms are very comfortable and nice. The location of the club is quite good.We had coffee at the lounge down stairs before checking in and the staff was extremely courteous. The bar also had a great staff and the drinks quite nice. The location of this club is great with everything in downtown at walking distance. Could explore a lot from here. Great place at a good price..
Union League is a great club. Deeply rooted with history while adjusting to current times. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful.
An awesome private club. Wonderful atmosphere, service and food. The staff is fantastic. The beautiful building is historic and full of important works of art.
Food was part. Valet parking left much to be desired. Could not find my car for 1/2 hour than they lost the paid card, asking me to pay the $38 again. Cool old place just not worth the hassle, maybe next time Ill park in the garage next door.
If I could afford it Id be a member, I enjoy being a guest here the food and the hospitality are excellent. Very professional secure and high-end place. Nice club
Great experience
Had a great location for the grand tasting event they held. Everything was clean and beautiful
Elegant private club right in downtown Chicago that owns an impressive art collection. Popular venue for dinners and receptions sponsored by educational, civic and cultural organizations.
Very beautiful and historic club right in the heart of the loop. Wonderful food in the main dining room with elegant and historic artwork through the club. Hotel rooms are impeccable and spacious. A beautiful club to see in Chicago and I would recommend locals signing up to be a member.
Very good food. Fabulous service. Beautiful historic building.
Had breakfast in the Wigwam. Beautiful dining room. Delicious food.
A throwback in time. It is a nice feel. It could be 1975, 2000, or 2019 and that place would be exactly the same. That is a complement. Some things should not change and this is one of them.
Beautiful beautiful beautiful. The people are sooooooo nice. The artwork is spectacular. The bar is a blast, the food is good too. They have popcorn 😀. In my imaginary life I would just live there!!
Very exquisite place, if I may say so. Went here for an Econ Illinois dinner event and it was a great place to have it. Very elegant setting and well decorated rooms.
An overlooked gem of an art museum! My wife and I recently spent two nights at the ULCC for a wedding, which included a reception in the great room on Friday evening. While room was pleasant and well appointed, and the staff professional, what was a complete surprise was the art hanging from the walls throughout the great room. Composed of landscapes and portraits from the 18pps and early 1900s, with multiple artists represented, you could spend quite some time enjoying the special bonus.
Visited during Open House Chicago. The place is absolutely beautiful and the people were so welcoming.
Fantastic place to eat if you appreciate fine dining. Had the 3 course chefs recommendation with wine pairing. All very good!
My brother had a cocktail hour here before his wedding night, and the staff was excellent and very understanding of any needs that we had even though we weren’t the largest party that night we still felt cared for
Nice place.
Ive only been to the Union Club for four years of the French American Chamber of Commerce party - Passport to France. The last time I actually used the stairs to walk up and had a chance to briefly see every floor. The building is exquisite inside and out. British architectural details, paintings on the wall, the color scheme, all of it adds up to a unique island of old time grandeur. Even if you dont have an event, simply walk the floors and enjoy the beauty.
Had a group breakfast here thanks to a teammate who is a member. Delicious. Great environment with a lot of history. Check it out if you can!
The service is superb. Food is excellent. I held an event there in addition to staying there and everything was top shelf. The concierge is excellent and remembered my son from the year before. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.
Very classy oldest private club in Chicago founded by civil war union veterans who were part of 19th century Chicago elite. The art on their walls would be prized by both the art institute and the historical society. The busiest private banqueting facilities in the city.
Beautiful private club in the middle of Chicago. Members can get a fantastic rate on hotel rooms, and has the best trivia night in town. Members-only, but you may know someone who knows someone who can get you in. ;-)
Very nice, professional staff with a classical environment. Service is second to none. The dress code is worth the stay.
Wonderful Club! We had a family outing here to celebrate a PHD graduation! The facility and cuisine were impeccable!
A colleague and I got squeezed into the union league of Chicago at a late date. The rooms are nice though small. The in house bar and restaurant adhere to a dress code but dont display what the dress code is.
From the staff to the management this place is wonderful! The food is always amazing....love the bartenders and their specialty cocktails!
Rich with history, wonderful food with many outlets, great for private meetings. A wonderful Chicago establishment.
Never been! Awesome! Invited through Cara. Thanks for having me! Great opportunity!
Classic old Western feel with all the dark wood. Centrally located right off the metro
Lovely Chicago asset. Best place for intimate meetings of small to medium groups. So much more here. Health club, restaurants, hotel. Its a cool club.
Sorry I was parked outside their I never went in. But from all that happy visitors it seems like a great
Its The Union League. How could you not love it.It is a private club. So ask about joining. Lots of reasons to join.
Amazing venue for a power meeting or lunch.
I think the ULC is for a certain kind of guest. And perhaps Im not that kind. Its idiosyncratic and old-school in a way that isnt charming as much as scolding. I felt like I was unwelcome and was here to serve their needs. At best, I was just kind of in their way. For $350 a night. Every request I made of the staff was denied. Late check-out? No. Store my bag while I wait? No. Wear a coat in the cafe? No. And on and on. Im used to hotels being in the service business, so this was a new experience. I was picturing more of a Soho House experience, which this definitely was not. I would liken my stay at the Union League Club in this way...its like going to visit your grandparents if your grandparents dont actually like you very much and just kind of want you to leave.
Members only club. Big commitment to veterans and good government.
First Class operation in every sense of the word! Enjoy my visits
A private club only accessible to or through members. Nicely appointed, deep in history, and with a variety of meeting spaces inckuding banquet areas. It also also has a restaurant, lounge and hotel accommodations. I would rate it a 5 if it were more public. I have always only been there through associations with which I am connected such as railroad associations and ivy league schools.
Have patronized this club 35+ years with my member husband who is now deceased. My closest friend from New York stated that her dinner was the best she ever had. The night before we ate at a very expensive 5 star restaurant that didnt match the quality and service at The Union League Club. This Club offers monthly functions that offers many many opportunities to meet and mingle plus promoting your businesses. The atmosphere is top notch class.
Best private club in the city. Focus on community and social activism. Excellent service. Full gym. Nice locker rooms. Full size unheated pool.
The salmon dish was superb.
Such a beautiful old piece of architecture. Everyone should stop in and take a look around, not sure if thats an option, but worth trying. They have a library! Who knew?!?! A little expensive, but beautiful.
Beautiful space for luscious events, and an American art collection that earns listing amongst the best of the states. I was at the Union League Club for 2 days of trade events and staff were ever courteous and helpful, though the event space was chilly. Whoever the caterer was, its food was delicious. Note that bluejeans are NOT allowed in the building.
We had our daughters wedding ceremony and reception at the ULCC. If I could choose 10 stars I would. From our first contact by email to loading our car to leave at the end of the weekend--every member of the ULCC staff showed professionalism, courtesy and went above and beyond for us.One example of the level of courtesy happened this morning when I came down to the first floor cafe. An employee was vacuuming and noticed I was perplexed. I asked when the cafe would be open and he responded that it wasnt open on Sundays.Immediately asked me how he could help.I responded that I wanted a diet coke and he offered to go down a floor to a soda machine and get me one. Now, nowhere else in the universe does that happen. Just at the ULCC.I only wish I could remember his name to thank him again. Our contact Ken returned emails promptly, answered questions fully and volunteered his help at every turn. He is polite, professional and knowledgeable. Generous attitude throughout--from the planning process until the end of the dinner at the reception. His experience is invaluable. Recommendations for vendors were spot on.Brianna provided our hotel room reservations . Emails answered promptly. All questions answered fully. Friendly and knowledgeable. The reservation process for our family and our guests was easy-peasy thanks to Brianna.Beyond the employees there is THE ULCC.Entryway is inviting and beautiful. Old school charm.Wood, stone, brass, painting, sculptures.Everywhere you look there is history and a calming ambiance. We felt immediately at home.Ceremony, cocktail and reception rooms were all more amazing than the last. Fireplaces and vaulted ceilings and gorgeous, rich Christmas decorations. A warm, welcoming feel.Details throughout--an express elevator for our guests to get from the cocktail area to the reception--extra accessories for the ladies room--always someone available to answer a question or offer to help. The food at cocktail hour and the reception were top notch. Delicious.Menu cards on each plate. Staff continuously available to help.Raves from family and friends.Hotel rooms are newly remodeled and beautiful. Understated elegance. From start to finish our experience at ULCC was exceptional. We highly recommend having a wedding or any event at ULCC.
Private club. Awesome historical place. Love to be there when I can.
Very friendly staff throughout the club. The library is nice and quiet with plenty of work space. The food is great. Rooms are very comfortable and good size.
Nothing to not love about this place. Great food. Staff is very courteous. The ambient is special. Parking next door, not expensive.
Great venue in the City for a business meeting or private event. The staff is very attentive to the details and very helpful for both members and guests. The rooms are tastefully decorated and food menu items are always changing for daily specials.
Great club. First rate dining. Excellent athletic facilities. Significant civic engagement. Excellent place for business entertainment and networking.
Thoroughly enjoyed todays First Friday Club luncheon. Very nice facility, service and food.
Very good value, if you know a member! Clean comfortable rooms, very nice service and staff. Good gym/athletic facilities on top floor, and location is really great.
Awesome time! My filet was amazing.
Preservation Chicago had an event in the banquet hall. This place is legendary. What a perfect place for an event by this organization. A tribute to the old architecturally significant city of Chicago. Priceless artwork on the walls--I felt like I was in another time period. I also felt guilty for living my pipsqueak life and vowed to change my lifestyle instantly to honor the ones who had reached such great cultural heights before me. Of course, that ended the next morning, but I was inspired nonetheless.
Nice ambiance and great food!
Elegant decor, awesome artwork EVERYWHERE, great food and wonderful staff. Convenient to downtown Chicago. Perfect meeting location so people who work downtown can attend a luncheon meeting and get back to work.
This is a gorgeous venue. I visited the Union League Club for an international business forum and networking event. The fireplace, artwork, seating, cavernous size...all made it into a high-class affair!
Great Art, clean, wonderful staff, centrally located, always among friends.
First Class venue. Very attentive staff without being overbearing. Food was wonderful quality too! The event was a true success!
