I rate this place 2 stars. The first star is for how excited my girlfriend and I were to move here, it was a nice area, we toured the apartment after We were driving around all morning looking for one and we found this one, tucked back, near the neighborhood I grew up in. So we knocked on the door, and waited, and waited and waited for someone to come to the door they came to the door 15 minutes later and let me in after they saw me going back into my car, the property manager then told me I have an appointment 4 days from then and I needed all of my documentation (birth certificate, pay stubs, etc) so I gathered all of these things (which was located in northern virginia) and waited the 4 days. We took off of work, showed up, knocked on the door, the property manager wasnt there and NOBODY knew about the appointment I had, I was told by an employee that they will have to reschedule. We drove over 2 hours from where we currently live to the complex just to be told I cant be helped and someone will call me. Why didnt they call me to reschedule? You had my contact information. As I scroll and look at other reviews I see similar issues, lack of professionalism, communication and just common decency. Still have yet to hear from the complex. I have family that works for Lawson Companies Corporate Office, and they WILL be hearing about this!

I called this place after getting a reference and I was told that they have a 1 to 2 bedroom available in the property management told me I had to wait until July 29 just to set an appointment but they have available rooms now and I think it’s because I have an emotional support animal and I don’t think I was treated fairly this is not right my lease is up June 30 and I have nowhere to go and they have available vacancies and they’re not giving them and it’s leaving people homeless

Called and set a appointment had to wait 2 months had all my paperwork together and the money order here comes the appointment date I get there a few minutes early had to wait at the door before anyone noticed that I was there only for the lady at the door to tell me all the appointments were cancelled and to try again in a few months no one called me and told me that it was cancelled smh

I called and they made me an appointment, but didnt tell me what I needed for the appointment so I came unprepared, whatever they let me come back the same day. 7 completed an application on a Friday and told me I could move in as soon as next week. The next Friday I talked to a lady and she said they would call me back after the leasing lady came back from her break. Well its the Friday after that, no one answers the phone, no one returns messages, I even showed up twice this week and no one answered the office door. Idk if anyone even works here

Trying to get rental information. No one at the toll free number knows anything. And they give you a local number which no one answers. Bad business practices. I am going to contact the local BBB in Chesapeake Virginia.

I’ve lived here for over a year, and when I moved in I had no issues. Ever since the office changed staff and COVID started I have had a horrible time getting into contact with any one. No one answers the phone, only one out of every 10 emails were answered and even knocking on the door got no response. I’d set appointments and then come in to find out they went to lunch or stepped out and never came back. No one communicates, other than sticking letter on your door AFTER they have closed the office so you can’t contact them and leaving an email does nothing.

I have been trying to lease an apartment here since last year. When I first applied I was told that my application was approved and that I was going to be placed on a waiting list which would be 6 months to a year. I haven’t heard anything since and trying to get information has been a struggle. I called last week or so to try to get an update and was told that there were available apartments but that I would have to fill out an application. What happened to the waitlist ? What happened to reaching out when a unit was available? Questions asked never seem to have a clear answer. It has felt more as though the conversation is being talked in circles and that’s if I can even get ahold of the actual office. I had high hopes after hearing about this place but the application process has only been frustrating.

I was living out the River Apartments for about 7 years nothing but the best experience.You are not going to find another apartment community,that really treats like family and also handles any issues in a timely manner .You can call the office and speak with any off the office staff if you have any questions or concerns .Keyonna(Up Front )Phylena(The assistant) & Kandi (Property Manager) all really go over and beyond for there residents.

The staff at The Rivers are so sweet and do literally everything they can to help out. Christina and Melanie did their best to get us in and do everything we had to get done in a timely fashion. Not a question goes unanswered and they work so hard to make their tenants happy. I can say honestly that we love it here and we will be stopping in the office frequently to say hi and make friends. Love this place!!

These apartments seem too be good and clean I won’t take that away from them but here’s my problem I did the application she said we didn’t make enough so we needed someone to sign for us saying they would help my mother gave her REAL bankruptcy discharge papers and she said we should be fine being that my mom had been discharged she took the application fee money and then sent a denial letter in the mail lol & then when I called and asked about it she had a attitude so if you have a background of being evicted or bad credit don’t even waste your money unless they pick by favoritism and the lady who did my application was the big black lady .

I have been living here for two years now and ever since we became under new management this place is even better to live at now. I rarely have anything go wrong with my apartment but on 11.16 my tub became clogged I tried to fix it myself when it didn’t work out for me I reached out to maintenance on 11.18 and they were here within within a hour to fix it. They were professional, quick and efficient. Also, Ms Melissa, at the front office, was very helpful with getting my paperwork renewed. She made the process very easy and between helping me, answering the phone (she was the only one in there while the other lady was on lunch) and helping other walk-ins, she showed how professional she can be and her multi tasking skills were on point. Being here has been amazing and I am glad to be a resident at The Rivers.

Listen, I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Christina and Melissa. Nothing but generosity and respect the whole time! I thank Christina for being relentless at helping me get approved, like I cant thank her enough! The neighborhood is nice and clean. Well manicured and quiet! I am so excited and cant wait to move in!! Once more, thank you ladies so much I am greatly appreciative. Thank you for the experience and keep doing what you do ladies❤🥰

The office staff are always helpful. They meet and exceed my needs. My apartment is the perfect fit for me and I love the front door parking. One of the other major perks is the easy interstate access, which helps shorten my commute to work. If you are looking for quality priced apartments The Rivers is your destination.

Do not move here at all, they invade your privacy by going into your apartments as well as the neighborhood is not safe. The people in the office have been changed 5 times. I am warning you, you will regret it, and the reviews you see is not true. No Thank you, and believe me people if you knock on anyones door they will tell you the same do your research, and do not listen to the reviews or the response.You will be moving waste of time go somewhere else.

The rivers are wonderful. This was actually my first time applying for a apartment and they made the experience outstanding. I had a couple of obstacles that tried to get in the way and everyone went above and beyond to help me out. Tameka is the one that actually did my application and she was very helpful and professional. I would recommend them to anyone.
