I was in a pickle and needed to move immediately. I called The Cedars about their availability. They were very professional, responsive, warm, and helpful. Blondell helped me from beginning to end with the application process. After speaking with her, I was no longer nervous about moving, but excited to move! She is as sweet as peach cobbler!! Thank you Cedars! Can’t wait!

I would give five stars but I saw a roach the size of my big toe at least once a day, Lived there for a while, I am thankful for the 1 bedroom apartment I had and it was very clean and well taken care of when I moved in, I love the pond which you are aloud to fish out of, the maintenance guys always get the work done but can be busy and it will take a couple of days. There is roaches which I’m sure they will take care of. The office people I would say need a little more training and could be more polite but overall do a good job,

I must agree with most of the reviews. My friend lives out there and I just love her apartment. They are worth every penny. The only complaint I have is her downstairs neighbors. They are a little nosey whenever I’m there( playing loud, music, laughing really loud, etc) but that’s expected when you live in an apartment. Other than that this is a great place to stay.

I absolutely love living in this complex for a number of reasons.1. The prices for the apartments are fair and lower compared to similar apartments in Virginia Beach or Norfolk.2. The staff is friendly, professional and invested in making you feel welcome and heard. Blondell’s friendliness and patience with my roommate and I during our application and moving-in process made such a positive impression.3. Maintenance and pest control are on point.4. It’s quiet, the community is kept clean and there is plenty of open parking. No complex is perfect. Just to be impartial, there are lot of geese roaming the parking lot pooping and probably making people late for work and I can hear my upstairs neighbors walking around at night. However those are such minor things. Overall, The Cedars does a pretty good job at maintaining excellence.

I have lived here around three years and I am very happy here. I chose a two bedroom one bath to have a larger master bedroom closet. Even the second bedroom has a large closet. I find the rooms to be a good size and layout of the apartment is good. There is a nice sized coat closet and a really nice sized linen closet, plenty of storage. The laundry room has nice shelving as well. I love the oversized balcony’s. This apartment living is very comfortable. There is a nice lake to walk around which is stocked, benches to sit and enjoy the lake and a playground for the little ones. Beside the on site laundry there is a workout room. And of course the pool! And even a dog park! We are very close to shopping and restaurants. Really close to everything. The neighborhood is quiet and we feel completely safe here. The staff here at the Cedars are amazing! From the office staff to maintenance! So friendly and accommodating. It’s had to change a bit because of Covid, but since I have lived here they have never missed throwing a celebration for all the major holidays. In addition, summer movie nights at the pool, ice cream once a week during some summer time weeks. They’ve had paint night with prizes! And at the end of this month bagged breakfast for when you’re heading out to work or coming home from work. I’m sure I forgot something, but everything they do is done with a smile! I have never lived in an apartment community where the tenants seem to matter as much as we do here. You won’t regret choosing The Cedars at Greenbrier for your home.

My husband and I moved here due to military orders and we only saw pictures online before we moved so we were definitely nervous, but the people in the leasing office were so nice and patient with us when asking a ton of questions. The apartment themselves are updated and nice! Since we’ve been here we have had a toilet leak problem, but the maintenance guys were AMAZING!! They got here really quick and fixed the problem for us. 10/10 would recommend 😀

Moved in August 2018, its been a great experience! I have small complaints but its no deal breaker in my opinion. Its things like at one point there was only 1 community washer available and 2 dryers because the others were broken. I live on the 3rd floor and its hard with a toddler because downstairs will complain but thats everywhere. My mailbox broke a few times and I had to go to the post office but luckily it is across the street, I just dont get off work in time. The balcony is pretty big! The apartments are spacious! I love how they dont have any rules against hanging up anything. Staff is friendly and welcoming! Theyre constantly doing stuff for the tenants in the office. I give this place a solid 4.5 stars!Only moving because I bought a house.

Based on my 4 year and 7 months experience at The Cedars at Greenbrier here is the review:-Pros:1/ Most valuable apartment in Chesapeake ($ vs conditions). Under 1k per month (out the door price).2/ Good location: near Walmart, near Chesapeake hospital, near local restaurants.**3/ Increment monthly rent: from 0 - $25 per year4/ Huge parking: First come, first serve. I never have a parking problem with this apartment.5/ Minor fix: any problems with your room (like clog bathtub, clog sink, receptacles dont work). Call office, they fix it the same day or next day.6/ Zero flood. Flood free zone. There is no way you get flood in this area --> good location.7/Friendly staff, office personnel.8/ Beautiful pond with cute creatures, ducks, ducklings...9/ Parties/Events: They have events / parties almost every month when we dont have pandemic. Sometimes its free dinner, free lunch, free ice creams.10/ Free coffee/tea at the office, when you pay rent or reload laundry card.-Cons:1/ Location: Every time you want to hit 64, 264, you have to make a U turn.2/ Washing machine and dryer at laundry room: washing machine 2 out of 3 working. Dryers: random. sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt.3/ Noise: When All AC in your blocks work at full speed. It is a little bit annoy but it is ok.4/ Reloading laundry card: the only way to reload your laundry card is giving cash to someone at the office and ask them to reload it for you.

Ive lived here for 7months and I enjoy it here. Living off a busy road I hardly hear the noise other then when emergency vehicles pass by. I have a great view of the pond and the pool. The geese are a little messy but thats okay because this is their home too just watch where you step along the playground. My two boys and I love feeding the wild life and seeing the turtles pop up. Maintenance staff are very friendly. We have conversations and theyre the ones that actually make this place great. Put in a maintenance request and it is fixed within a reasonable time/day. The office ladies are great, Im not just another tenant I feel welcomed when I walk in to drop rent off or pick up a package. The units have washer and dryer hook ups but I choose to do my laundry on site next to the new renovated gym. The gym is great open from 5a-10p while laundry can get complete 24-7. This is a quiet, family oriented and pet- friendly community. The Property Management team frequently orchestrate fun- filled events to engage themselves and all residents to join together to meet and interact, which in turn, allow members of the community to network and become more familiar with one another. There is a small fitness center, a laundry facility, including a full sized outdoor gated swimming pool area. There is also a pond centered within the community where youll discover many individuals or family members of this fine community enjoy relaxing and fresh water fishing! Although there is a playground and picnic area on the site by the pond, I do think these areas should be modified. The playground area needs to be more updated and expanded out more to include more play area for the children in the community; the pond area need to have a gate encircling it to ensure greater safety for children, and teens who tend to be tempted to get too close to the water. Also, it would be nice to add a few more sheltered picnic table and grill areas to encircling the empty land areas of the pond area, which also allow and extend more picnic and and grill usage to other residents who dont usually have an advantage to use the present, very limited grill area. I think the Management of this very fine, rooted, and longstanding community is always committed to the excellence in serving the residents, as well as the safety, upkeep and appearance of the property, therefore making this a most sought out and rewarding place to reside!

Heaven forbid my kid runs in the apartment after 9pm, the prick downstairs bangs extremely loud on the ceiling. They always always have maintenance or vendors doing work so they have to turn the water off usually all day. Office staff seemed to be nice for a while until I was confused about a so-called credit I received then of course they wanted to be rude and still charged a late fee. My apartment is in the back next to that crappy hotel and across from Home Depot. So every morning and usually every night its partying at the hotel and deliveries at Home Depot. Just horrible location. There is goose crap everywhere and they want to complain about dog crap. I moved in with a kitchen cabinet door missing and yeah it still hasnt been fixed. I have lived there for 3 years now and about to sign for another year (although notices about marijuana make me apprehensive...). In those 3 years I have had very few problems and they were quick to respond when there were. Honestly I really wish I could rate them very high. From the tour of these apartments I know that my family will be happy here. My only reservation is the communication part. We were given a tour by kendall and filled out our application. We have a deadline we need to be out of our apartment by oct1. Being a military wife and mom of 2 i need to budget out what we need to be able to move. But why do I have to keep calling kendall to get information. We sent a application she said she was going to get back to us. Never did. My husband had to call her no biggie at that point because i get it shes busy. Then she said that she was going to call us when the application was approved and then send us our welcome letter. NEVER CALLED BACK. My husband then calls again which she then tells us that we were approved and she will send a welcome letter. It is now days after her saying that with no welcome letter. Now we are calling to figure out whats going on. we understand things get busy but at some point its just messy. Is this how they run things on a daily? When we fill out maintenance request will we have to hound down their office for a response? Im extremely disappointed and frustrated because I need to make sure we have an apartment by our time frame. If you are looking into this place have some patience from my experience your going to need it

The Cedars Apartments tries to market itself as an upscale apartment community. Realistically it is an apartment community that was built in the 80s and cheaply renovated. The waterview listed on the website is the rainwater retention pond in the middle of the community. Major quality of life issues include: no sound dampening between floors, and a raw sewage smell from the kitchen sink drain and dishwasher if you open it because the kitchen sink plumbing is installed incorrectly and most likely not to building code: no one-way valve or U joint between dishwasher drain and sink drain which causes the dishwasher to be the collecting area for drain water. Maintenance is incompetent being unable to solve any issues with the exception of the maintenance supervisor who understands the problem but will only admit that Management is too cheap to fix the issue properly once she determines that her lies wont work. I have never seen the filters for the HVAC system replaced, which should be done quarterly. I wouldnt recommend leasing an apartment at the Cedars.

Ive lived here for year and have had a great experience. My neighbors are great, maintenance is very prompt to respond, and management are always eager to help. The reason I didnt give the full five stars is because the ceilings are a bit thin. I could hear my neighbor fighting with his girlfriend. The dog park was also inaccessible when it rains, and that can be solved by paving a path at the gate to avoid the mud. The last issue which is the one grievance that bugged me the most, is that the only ISP is Telcom. They are a very pricey providers thats also very unreliable and their internet speed is below standards. I paid more for less internet than I had before with Comcast.

Run for your life! I moved into tho apartment in October 2016, by the end of November 2016 I realized this was a terrible mistake. They literally do the bare minimum. My apartment had a persistant issue with water bugs (they are the size of your thumb). I complained multiple times about the bugs and I was told to wait until they scheduled the pest control guy to spray. I literally saw 1-6 water bugs a day. I killed and/or removed 63 of them in the month of November alone. Again, I asked multiple times for them to address the bugs and the only thing they would do is spray 2x a month. As a single man, I invited ladies to my apartment and they ran as soon as they saw these bugs. Friends were deterred from visiting and every weekend I was out of town, I came home to at least one dead water bug. In February 2017 I placed a notice to vacate and 10 days later a water bug climbed into my bed and bit me on my arm in my sleep. After 4 months of complaining and a bug biting me they decided to spray the entire building the next day because multiple people complained about bugs. Not once did they ask if I was ok, pay my doctor bill or reduced my rent. It wasnt until after I took them to court that they apologized. I was one of more than a dozen people who left. The management company did absolutely nothing to reach out to me proving my life meant nothing to them. Living here means living with 1 inch wide, 2-3 inch long water bugs that might bite you while you are demanded to pay over $1000 a month in rent. Its not worth it to me.

These apartments can be summarized in one word, cheap. The price you pay for what you get is ridiculous. The maintenance crew thinks that tape will just fix everything and half the doors in our apartment dont shut right because they used too small of screws for the hinges. There is poop everywhere from the ducks and geese to dogs from other apartment renters. Walls are paper thin and if you plan to use internet here run! The internet is outdated and slow and can cause just a lot of problems. Not to mention that the parking lot a night is a hot spot for vehicle break ins so expect to here car alarms going off in the middle of the night and cops patrolling through every now and then. They also claim that you get free cable but its not free its just included in your rent. Theyve been having a hard time keeping people here so thats why right now theyre offering great move in specials. Its a trap, thats why we got stuck here. Hopefully this will help some of you out on deciding whether or not to rent here. We cant wait to leave.

Review №61

The front desk here is AMAZING, along with maintenance - this has been overall a much better experience than a couple of complexes that we have stayed at.Unfortunately what is not though, is the horrible internet service. It has been 6+ months since we have moved in and we are still receiving 2mbps download speed, working from home is completely out of the question, which adds unnecessary hassle to our work-life balance. We are far from the only tenants with issues, customer service attributes poor speeds to limited bandwidth. Ultimately, streaming anything only works at 160p, if you let if buffer for a bit and come back. Forget having more than one device hooked up at one time, and I am hardwired in via ethernet. We were told that an upgrade for the Greenbrier location is on the way in terms of priority, but we have read older reviews on here stating that tenants were told the same ~2 years or so go as well so we have no idea what to believe. It feels wrong to be lied to, even if its unintentional. As internet is approaching the category of a much needed utility, any reasonable person living in the modern age would look elsewhere. Please resolve the poor internet speeds at our location and realize that this is no different than water that runs out of the tap/shower at a drizzle, it is a pain to deal with. To the front desk and maintenance, keep up the great work - we know that this is likely beyond your control.Edit - Wanted to come back and readjust my review. The internet situation is much better after the upgrade and we seriously appreciate you guys pushing to get that resolved, keep up the great work!

I must admit the appliances and floor renovations could have you in awe at first if you don’t pay attention to details. Unfortunately I notice every single little thing. Our patio door doesn’t have a lock at all on it we asked for a stick or something to compensate our privacy until they order the lock and no response. You can tell the last tenant lived here for quite some time. We have called maintenance out probably 5 times in less than 24hrs and the issues are still not resolved due to the poor service it initially had. It’s as if the apartment could use a few more weeks before it should be rented out. We have been persistent in our calls for repair, and over the last year and a half a few of the issues have been addressed. As for the other issues, we are still waiting. I would suggest that if you decide to rent here you walk the actual unit you are going to be renting to see if it meets your standards. We have several friends in the community (the neighbors are AWESOME, super friendly) and their units seem to be updated nicely. I think we got a bad apple. The maintenance crew is incredibly friendly, however a few of them arent very professional. It sometimes takes several visits from maintenance to solve one issue which can be inconvenient and annoying. It really depends on which person you get whether your issue is fixed correctly and quickly. We have had one of our cars broken into, which sucked. There is a police patrol, so at least there is some small sense of security from that.We have a small dog, and he has contracted parasitic worms twice from other dogs poo. People often dont clean up after their pets which is incredibly upsetting. And as for poo, the geese and ducks poo on everything. Its nasty!Dont plan on the laundry facilities being an option. There is constantly one or more washers and dryers that are broken down (there are only three of each to service the whole community so you always have to wait), its pretty pricey per load and if you dont sit with your things youll come back to your wet clothes on the floor because somebody didnt want to wait. Id recommend taking your things to the Laundromat and avoiding it completely.A few other things to be aware of :The internet situation is the worst! We pay $70 per month and we dont have service on a weekly basis (sometimes we cant connect for a few minutes and sometimes it takes days and phone calls to the internet provider for it to come back) The floors squeak with every step. The cable isnt free, its included with the rent and its a joke. You get a tiny handful of channels. The grounds are landscaped and mowed on a regular basis which takes all day and is very loud and disruptive. The mailboxes are small and if you receive a lot of mail the postman will stuff and cram your mailbox, which can rip and wrinkle your letters. On the positive side, the location is great. I64 is at the next stoplight north on Battlefield, which makes driving to base a straight shot. There are tons of restaurants in walking distance, and amazing hiking and walking trails within minutes. One thing that I really appreciate about this community is that there are community functions regularly. The office holds cookouts for tenants, and there are pool parties where they raffle and have games. Its so nice to have a chance to meet neighbors and have lunch. We always attend the get togethers and have a great time.In my opinion the apartments are over priced, and not the best overall (older, cheap finishes, few amenities) There are a lot of things that make us unhappy about our apartment. I can say that what made us renew our lease was the sense of community here, our neighbors are really great and the location is awesome.

Kind and professional staff. They do regular maintenance to keep the place up, and there are very little problems if any.Only advice I can give is to avoid buildings directly on the pond (where you can fish) because the geese and ducks can be quite noisy when you want an open window. Also, you may want to avoid the track between the front and back opening as they are trying to cut down on the amount of traffic that cuts through.

Love the location. Brittany has been a BIG help, especially since I moved from the Midwest site unseen.

The apartments are overall quite nice. I really enjoy the location and the staff is helpful and kind. They do a great job keeping up with the landscaping, mowing nearly every day (So if you work nights, stop reading this and find another place to go). Maintenance personnel are on the ball all the time and really legit. The MAJOR downfall of this complex however is the 1990s DSL internet. They sign you up for it once you get here and tell you that you dont have to keep it. Not too shabby, except NO ONE ELSE will come here to do an install! Since September-October, Ive heard the same old story upon my inquiries. Oh its coming, we are upgrading it. They recently installed cable in our other complex. Thats great, but Im not at the other complex, Im here and for the past year have been banging my head against a wall trying to find a work around. Per a phonecall with Cox, somehow theyve gotten on bad terms with them over some previous shady things and wont come out here, so if you want Cox, its not happening. And now they have put signs up all over the place telling your 500 dollars off! and come, refer your friends so they can suffer with you!.Cedars is nice, but if youre looking for a modern establishment with freedom to choose your ISP, dont come here. Its 2013, not 1997. They have taken the cheap route with DSL and are paying for it.
