We lived in Fenwyck for 1.5 years. Here are pros and cons.Pros:- The apartment looked new and clean- In our building all the neighbors were very decent.- Nice landscapeCons:- All the amenities were closed for 1.5 years since beginning of the COVID (maybe it closed until now, I dont know). Even the outside area of BBQ. The price didnt change though.- In march 2020 the management fired a cleaner guy and all the buildings and the pool were disgusting. (see pictures)- The gate didnt work most of the time- People didnt clean after their dogs, so feces were everywhere. Management didnt care.- The offices were closed this WHOLE period. They worked from home. It was like this: you call - they dont answer - you leave a msg - nobody calling back.- Once a week our building didnt have lights
I love the community and location of this apartment. The staff is always very helpful every time I have a question or need assistance. The amenities are very nice. It’s also great there’s always parking available. I’m extremely happy I get to live here! Highly recommend these apartments.
I recently just moved into Fenwyck Chase and I absolutely love it. The staff have been extremely helpful and kind to me during this entire process. Rebecca helped me out a lot. This property is beautiful, well maintained, and the valet trash is a nice luxury. 10/10 recommend Fenwyck Manor/Chase.
Great place to live. Staff is very friendly and super responsive. I love living here.
My family and I are looking to rent an apartment. Both my husband and I have tried to contact this office for a week now. Weve been to the property 3 times this week (at different times during office hours) and the office has been completely shut down. Theres a note on the door providing a number to call for assistance and no one has answered the 5 different times weve called. Weve even left 2 voice mails with no response. Its a shame since the property seems so beautiful.
Ive been residing at Fenwyck Manor for a little over a year. Upon signing my lease, I was informed by the office staff that this place was military friendly. I found out the truth, as a military service member, opting not to renew my lease based on receiving expedited transfer orders due to the COVID 19 pandemic. I found out that I was responsible for submitting a 60 day notice along with paying increased rent because Im unable to sign a lease for a specific duration of 13 or 6 months. Upon engaging the office several times to inquire about terminating my lease, I was continuously directed to submit my request in writing. I was never made aware during any of the times I contacted staff that I would be forced into paying month-to-month regardless of my transfer date. Also, this property continues to have amenities closed without offering a slight decrease in rent. Fenwyck Manor advertises all of the great things that one will receive upon moving here, however since the onset of COVID 19, everything has been closed to include a functional office. There has yet to be any decrease in rent due to nonavailability of advertised amenities. If you choose to live in one of the townhomes with an attached garage, be aware that your living room is directly above your neighbors garage. Meaning you can hear every thing they do, to include raising and lowering the garage at 3 am., while you bedroom is located on the third floor. The walls are also super thin. While trying to enjoy an evening at home, you will be interrupted by hearing conversations, video games, parties, etc. of your neighbors.
We have lived at Fenwyck Manor since 2015 and loved every minute of it! The location is perfect as there are many restaurants and shopping nearby. Raney and Chelsea are extremely helpful and friendly! They are always willing to help with anything you need and even go out of their way to ensure your comfort and happiness while living at Fenwyck Manor! I would recommend Fenwyck to anyone in the Hampton Roads area! Thank you Fenwyck for many years of comfort and luxury!
After living in Fenwyck for almost 2 years I am utterly disappointed in how this complex managed their move out procedures. For starter, a move-out walk thru was not offered at any point. According to the staff, carpeting in their units are only changed out every 5 YEARS! GROSS when you have multiple occupants in a 5 year span. Carpet cleaning does not thoroughly treat the padding under carpet. Unlike other apartments complex’s which account for normal wear and tear this complex does not. The stain in the carpet were extremely minimal and could have been treated which they “claim” happened but from the picture I was sent of the supposed “damage” I could tell it was not. And as a result I was charged $1,000 to replace the carpeting. Though the units are nice please beware of how this apartment complex conducts move outs.
Weve lived here for just about a year and havent had any of the issues that previous reviewers have said. Yes, you can hear your neighbors from time to time but then again you are in an apartment. You cant choose your neighbors and Ive never heard of an apartment where you cant hear any noise. The maintenance here was very prompt and friendly. Within a day or two of submitting the request, I had a extremely nice man fixing my light/fan, toilet, or any other problem I may have. The neighborhood is quiet and the amenities are very nice. Ive used the car vacuum/car washer numerous times and the pool is great for the summer(Lifeguard on duty too.) Gym is clean and useful and the computers are great for printing off things you may need.Staff has always been extremely courteous and respectful whether it be a complaint or a simple picking up of a package. Also, I was prior military and my friend who lives here is military and his/my transition was very smooth when leaving.Overall the experience was very enjoyable and I would recommend this apartment to anyone. Do not let one bad review change your outlook at Fenwyck.
This is a top notch community. The office staff and maintenance staff are amazing, super friendly and always on point. The community itself is superb not only with the appearance and amenities but even the neighbors are kind and social. It’s been an honor to live here and I can’t recommend it enough.
My husband and I absolutely love living here. There’s always parking available and I get off late at night so this is a perk compared to other places we’ve lived at. Our neighbors are super friendly and quiet which is a major bonus! The staff here is extremely friendly and were very helpful when we first started the move in process. The staff always has a smile on their face and they don’t forget you at all! I would highly recommend This place to anyone! It’s 100% gated, clean, great gym! And the apartments are very spacious and modern. I absolutely love this place
We have lived here for a few months now and love it! The girls in the office are always so sweet, maintenance is super quick, and the apartment in general is beautiful. We have never had a problem with thin walls, no bug problems or anything that people talk negatively about. Great apartments!!
I moved in September of 2014. I loved Fenwyck Manor when I first moved in. There was a sense of community and people took care of the property. There are constant outside parties at the clubhouse, dog mess everywhere, gates are broken constantly, trash in the hallways and the dumpster is constantly overflowing with trash. There used to be fines issued for trash and dog problems, but its not enforced anymore. The office must have reduced their standards and is afraid of confrontation with any residents. The maintenance staff is great however. I have found several apartments for considerably less and am leaving at the end of this lease period. The entire office should be replaced with responsible people that have the ability to enforce the rules. I am usually not one to complain, but this complex need to do something. I noticed that there is not one good review online here and the new wave of residents reflects that standards have been lowered to fulfill occupancy. This property has gone from an A property to a C at best. I wouldnt be surprised if this property is section 8 within a few years. It would be advisable for corporate and management to get ahead of this before that happens. All of the residents that I have know that cared about this property have moved out. I will complete this cycle by being the last of the group to go.
Ive lived in Fenwyck Manor since late 2013 and I have enjoyed living in Fenwyck Manor that entire time. The staff is friendly and helpful, the grounds are always neatly kept, and its also a quiet, safe, and secure neighborhood. The property is very military friendly and I urge military members to consider Fenwyck Manor as your future residence. If I wasnt moving due to a military transfer I would have loved to live at Fenwyck Manor for many years to come. I will miss this property and its staff.
Weve lived in Fenwyck for almost 3 years now and are very satisfied. The property is beautiful, amenities are great, office staff and maintenance are professional and respond promptly to all requests, and most of the neighbors are very pleasant. My only complaint is the gate acting up every now and then, but otherwise we did not experience any major issues. I wish it was more children friendly with a playground, but thats really the only thing I would change.
I just signed my third year lease at Fenwyck Manor and I love it. All of the office staff and maintenance staff are always there to help whenever you need them. Great place to live with lots of amazing people, I would recommend these apartments to anyone.
The parking situation is horrible. There are several cars which have been sitting in front of my building for 3 or more months in the same spot. Specifically there is a older model Lincoln Navigator which has several flat tires that has not moved for months and there is a older model Mercedes Benz that has expired registration that has not moved for months. Also there are several residents who have more than one vehicle and it causes parking to be an issue. On several occasions when returning from work I had to park 4 or 5 buildings away from my residence in the rain or snow. Those residents are using the parking lot for a long term storage for disabled vehicles and residents who have 3 or 4 vehicles and work trucks who park and leave them in front of the building for long periods of time. The leasing office has been contacted without any resolution.Do not move here if you would like to park your car in front of your building.
Downsized from a single family home to a 2 bedroom, 2.5 bath townhouse and we love it. Its so quiet, the grounds are well kept, clubhouse is beautiful and I love thats its gated. The office staff is very helpful.
Renters beware, the shadiest group of people work in the office, the manager is harsh, abrasive, and straight unprofessional. This place is honestly not worth the money they are asking for, the gate is just for show because it’s never closed, the parking situation is atrocious, the walls are paper thin so don’t have any private conversations in your apartment, I’ve heard every argument my upstairs neighbor’s have had and it’s gotten pretty much ridiculous at this point. If you live near the pool, say good bye to your sleep, the parties they have are ongoing well past the “quiet hours”. They honestly care more about pushing products like scentsy and young living than they do about their tenants. So please save your money and go to any of the dozens of apartment buildings around there. They would honestly treat you better.
The photos are old!! The place is run down. High priced ghetto. I paid $300 for a non-refundable application fee one month prior to moving from Las Vegas to Virginia. The property grounds are decent, but dont let that fool you. The office staff is very friendly. Sadees is extremely friendly and professional. I was highly....highly disappointed when I saw the unit I rented. If you rent here, you definitely have low standards. #mezzo
MILITARY BEWARE: this place is my military friendly as they claim! Be prepared if you get orders or have to break your lease, you will still have thousands of dollars of fees which they found some way to bypass the legality and figure out how to get your money no matter what! This place is absolutely horrendous. Dont let the outside appearance fool you. They took the cheap way out on everything and you can tell! saying the walls are paper thin are an understatement!!! I can hear everything from the apartment above and beside me, literally! Cleaning company doesnt have a corner attachment so hair and dirt gets pushed into corners? Really? The cleanliness is disgusting, and the staff is so far beyond incompetent its not even funny. Maintenance requests take FOREVER to get fixed doesnt even matter what it is or how serious. And the management cant even bother to get back to people it takes days but yet they can call prospective clients back ASAP! They tack on all the fees to move in because of market & regular rent bs so dont be fooled by what you see online! Cannot believe this place as a semi new establishment it is so poorly managed and ran, and if they stopped being cheap skates it wouldnt be half as bad! Oh and clubhouse has crazy parties like every weekend and since the walls are so thin you can hear everything! Unbelievable!
Staff: terrible at giving timely information (or gives incorrect information altogether) horrible at responding to requests (maintenance or general), loses packages. (Note: it’s ironic that their responses to comments on here are much quicker than responses to their current residents offline.)Apartments are NOT ‘luxury’ ... paint is done by a child, constant appliances/plumbing issues and walls are paper thin. You can hear full on conversations from every corner of the house and the noise from the street. The gate is just for show.I would NOT recommend this place.
For a newer apartment complex, love this place! Nice property! The pool area is amazing, parking is never an issue despite other reviews. Office and maintenance staff are always friendly, never had an issue with either. The office manager Raney, is super cool. The property isnt bad (crime wise) but they even have security guys rolling around, overnight mainly, who Ive called on to handle loud music from neighbors or loud music from cars in parking lot. They came out pretty quick when weve called. Maintenance also responds quickly. I had toilet back-up (my fault) and they came out within an hour in the middle of the night to fix the problem for us. Obviously the management cares about the property and has awesome customer service. Despite some negative reviews on this property, (you cant please everyone) I am leaving 5 star.
Nice to place to live with resort style living...except dont expect them to plow the streets when it snows. Every apartment complex and neighborhood on the street have plowed but Fenwyck doesnt see it as a luxury...hmmm...at least five residents stranded in the apartment roadways, most people couldnt get out of their parking spots at all, and they dont have enough salt to keep people safe if you have to walk around the complex (i.e. to let your dog out)...For what you pay to live here I would expect resort style living year round, not when its convient to the company/property managers. : (
I have lived here 3 years and love it!!! The staff is so friendly and caring! I would definitely refer everyone to move here!! I love it!!
ETA:Gabriel Young was so nice to point out to get a house if noise bothers someone, I would like to point out two things. Ive lived in plenty of apartments and never had this problem before. And some people have to live in Va because of the huge military base without putting down roots. But because the owner praised such a rude comment, it should show how this place is really run.----Sure, the outside and public areas are grand and wonderful, but you may want to rethink actually living here. I was caught up in how pretty eveything looked that I didnt realize how bad this place really is.The laundry room is nothing but a literal towel closet with hoses so unless you already own tiny stackable washer/dryer, you have to pay them 50$ a month to rent the ones they provide. The walls are PAPER thin, I hear my neighbor snoring every night. The maintenance staff flat out told us they were too cheap to fix anything, so they installed storm doors because of the horrible design of the place caused some water to leak through the doors.I admit I was dazzled by all the pretty things they lured us in with and when our lease was up, I was ecstatic! There are a lot of great apartments right on this road that dont look as pretty outside, but I can assure you, they are a thousand times more practical, the staff isnt flighty and forgetful. If you just want the pretty outside and salt pools, go for it. Ive never been so uncomfortable living anywhere than I did here.I find that is the key to any apartment, and Ive never *hated* living somewhere like Fenwyck.
My experience at Fenwyck Manor has been established. Shortly after moving we had lived in the Fenwyck Chase side of the complex and every single night we heard our neighbors above us, that right I said above us making all sorts of racket in the middle of the night. Now since I am in the military my sleep currently is highly needed due to my busy schedule. I had to call the security officer numerous times to have him come over and tell them to keep the noise to minimum. He calls us back when he is done there, telling us that they were going to keep quiet. They would have numerous amounts of people come to their apartment and make all sorts of noise that was hard for us to get sleep over. So we had enough and moved to the other side of complex closer to the pool behind the visitors center. And still having to call in for noise complaints for the new neighbors that moved in just a few weeks ago. This place simply sucks you dry of money. There are other places that are bigger and charge less. What is up with that
I love these apartments. Pros: stainless steel appliances, granite counter tops, trash is picked up outside your door, has two dog parks, AWESOME swimming pool with grills and fire pits, and really nice leasing office staff. The maintenance guys are really nice too and theyll fix whatever is wrong with your apartment in a timely manner. Ive never seen any sort of pest in the apartment, just spiders outside mostly. Cons: apartments are a little small for the amount of rent you are paying, parking can sometimes be a problem (my apartments are right near the mailboxes, some residents might not have this issue), they are a little on the higher end, the kitchen is pretty small, we run out of counter space all the time, no walk-in closets, washer/dryer is an extra $50 if you want it inside your place, but they have laundry facilities in the leasing office. Sometimes the dumpster fills up over the weekend and it starts to smell, that has only happened more recently with more tenants moving in. I really like these apartments but after a year we are looking for more affordable options.
Lived here for 2 years! Loved the apartments, the neighbors and the wonderful office staff! Would definitely recommend staying here for a long time!
This place is a jokeI’ve been calling maintenance for the longest time..I need hot water!!!The maintenance person who answered tried to tell me how to do it!!Are you serious?I swear I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy..The walls are paper thin I have to hear my neighbors having their weird sex..Nobody wants to hear them noises and when you bang on the wall they go harder and get louder as if they want you to complain..The maintenance people are the laziest people in creation I don’t know why they hired them all they do is walk around all day or ride on the carts ‘looking like they are doing something’This place is a joke if I could give them -00 I would..I can’t wait until my lease is up so I can move..
Our family has lived here for a little over 5 months and it has been great. If anything is wrong they fix it asap.
They say that it is a nice place to live, but once you are in here it is not so nice! talking to the neighbors each and everyone has told me a story that is not so great about this place. now that i am living here I should have rented a place at the Hideaway thinking that a gated community would be better but i was wrong. (never gated always something wrong with them)
I was a prospect for these apartments. I looked at a two bedroom model and it was lovely inside. The leasing agent Sarah Croya is a total sweetheart. She assisted me with getting me approved and choosing my apartment. But I ended up changing my mind and going for a condo rental in the area instead. Needlesstosay, I had a wonderful experience with Fenwyck Manor and would gladly return in the near future. I highly recommend the staff and these apartments. Worth checking them out.
This place is absolutely horrible !!!!!! Trust me, you dont want to move in there. They just want you sign the lease and than they wont care about you what so ever. If you want to be completely miserable and abosultely hate where you live, deal with miscommunication, this is the place for you! People in the office are rude and unprofessional. All girls who work in the leasing office are stuck-up and sluggish .
Lived here from Dec 2014- to August 2018. Very nice ladies up front.
SECTION 8 HOUSING WITH RESORT LIKE PAYMENTSBEWARE MILITARY!!Ill start by saying this property is absolutely the worst I have ever lived. I would love to give this place negative stars but cant. The outside and public areas are grand and wonderful. I too was caught up in how pretty eveything looked that I didnt realize how bad this place really is. The staff, particularly management are very incompetent. I was forced to deal with corporate because of property damage that had occured to my vehicle from the sprinkler systems. I was promised one thing by the manager but later she reneged. Corporate was just as bad. Angela Hollingsworth fought with me over $50 for two months until she visited the property and seen the damage.I had the same exact issues at this complex as everyone else has stated in their reviews. The paper thin walls are exactly that. The gates have been broken for over a year. Pet fecies are all over the grounds. Residents throw their trash bags outside their doors and let it sit for days. First floor apartments in some buildings flood everytime it rains. The sprinkler system washes your car with this new detergent called RUST. Mold had grew in my bathroom and they covered it with KILZ. Needless to say, its back. They closed the 24HR clubhouse for months starting at 1800 because a drug dealer they had living here trashed it.I also had a neighbor blaze up everyday for the past year and the smell was coming through into my apartment. The smell would seriously occupy every space of my 2 bedroom apt. For 2 months straight I complained to no avail. Lastly they insulated the closet by installing some top notch duct tape. I finally gave up. There is NO resolve with complaints to management. If your neighbor parties, your partying!
My husband and I have been living at Fenwyck Manor for a year. We are in the process of renewing our lease. I have absolutely no complaints about this place. It is very elegant and luxurious. After a day of work, you feel comfortable coming home. My home is my happy place and I love it here. The amentities are awesome! I love the clubhouse. Our families came for Thanksgiving 2015 and they were floored at how awesome the place looked and how clean it was. I overheard a relative, that is a homeowner, say that their complex doesnt have a clubhouse. So, that was a definite plus. The staff is always here to help. No matter what the issue is, they will go above and beyond to accomodate their residents and that, alone, is five star worthy! You will hear occassional banging on the wall or neighbors but it doesnt bother us at all. It is a apartment, it is expected. Other than that, awesomeness all around me!!
I have lived here for over a year now and I couldnt be happier. Ive lived in the one bedroom and the two bedroom. The best staff and service and the quality is perfect. From the pools to the club house, it is by far the best apartment complex in the entire area from norfolk to hampton to virginia beach. I highly recommend!
13 of the last 14 Christmases ive spent here !
The noise between the townhome apartments is crazy. We can hear every word our neighbor says or in our case screams and laughs. They have partys every weekend and sometimes du ring the week. The apartments answer is really I never hear my neighbors and you should call security. Really?? Thats the only answer we were given. It is so hot upstairs during the summer itseems like an attic and to just turn our air down. Umm my light bill shouldnt be $200 when Im paying you out the wazoo for your apartments. You cant get a straight answer from the front (there is only couple at the front who seem to care) . The gates breakdown for weeks on end and they let people just drive in the out gate or vice versa. They only have 1 dog station on our side besides the 2 in the dog park.
I have lived at Fenwick Manor now for almost a year. The staff here is absolutly awesome, the rent prices are ok for the amount of space you get and it is typically very quite. To the idiots who are complaining about hearing your neighbors around you, guess what you are living in a freaking apartment. Its not like you live in your own personal home with neighbors far away, your are going to hear noise and if you dont like to hear it then go buy a freaking house! I have own two of them, I know the difference. My wife and I are most certainly not low class we make really good money! We could get another house but we are for a short time. I use there club house all the time with no issues. So if you are tried of hearing people get a house. We dont care about it because we understand that we live in an apartment complex...these things are expected. I would recomment Fenwick Manor to anyone...
The staff is highly unorganized and unable to communicate. Due to an unexpected, last minute military move we were unable to stay here and are now trying to get our money back that we put down for a deposit and they are refusing to acknowledge they made a mistake. We have talked to 4 different staff members. 3 members told us that the only thing we wouldnt get back is the application fee and we would receive a check in the mail 4-6 weeks for the rest of the amount we paid. The manager, Sarah, has refused to call back with a final answer after talking to her several times. She did state the last time we talked she would provide a refund but has not done so. She refuses to acknowledge they messed up and didnt provide us with proper documentation that states ALL the fees we paid are non-refundable. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone due to the staff.
Very nice and up to date
Gates never work, staff never answers the phone or calls back, you can hear your neighbors conversation over dinner through the paper thin walls, they owed me money three times and I had to call and check up on it several times, every single time. They sent my deposit REFUND check that you get after move out to my apartment address instead of the forwarding address that I left. (I mean.... Seriously?) They lost my packages and made promises they couldnt keep. They promised me for months they would do something about parking and trash being left outside and never did. I could go on and on. Overall a pretty incompetent establishment and way too expensive for what it is.
Was out before my lease even ended. Check the ApartmentRatings on this place to get the real experience.
Office Staff is amazing!!!!
