I used to love living here, however lately things have gone down hill in the past few months. It’s turning ghetto!! The parking garage gate has been broken for over a month!! It’s dirty in the hallways…There literally isn’t a maintenance team anymore, I’ve placed a work order over two weeks ago and still waiting….things are very sketchy in the building the doors are always broken…the halls are dirty…and lastly someone has tried to steal my vehicle because the garage is wide open! I don’t recommend this place.
FYI be weary of the good reviews because there are signs everywhere in the apartment complex which beg for positive Google reviews. You often cannot get your package is because the package system is broken all the time. You often cannot get deliveries such as food deliveries because delivery drivers do not know where the front door is and also they cannot get in through the front door because its broken. They were predatory during covid. The apartment complex charged full price rents even though none of the amenities were available for at least 8+ months. The parking garage gates are broken all the time because they are so narrow that it takes an extreme amount of skill to enter the parking garage so most people just run into the gates and break it.
Rude staff that doesnt help out customers. Will take ages to solve any problems. Steer clear of this place! All the good reviews are paid for.
Loving the community here at The Collective! Lots of cool events for the residents are thrown every week including food trucks, yoga, holiday photo booths, live music and comedy. The amenities are top notch, with a state of the art fitness center, sound proof music lounge, pool and co-work spaces. The location is a perfect distance from NODA’s art district as well as Plaza Midwood.Maintenance is very thorough requests are taken care of promptly by the fabulous maintenance staff here. (Dennis & Warren)I highly recommend this complex and all they have to offer.
Front office is incredibly rude, never there, and unresponsive to calls 70% of the time. Frequent break ins especially in the garages. The “gates” they have to help prevent this never work. Even though there are surveillance camera signs, there are no surveillance cameras. They could also care less about you. This is an expensive complex but you are only going to be paying for the location and how pretty it looks.
PROS: The location is 10/10, the maintenance staff is incredible, apartment floor plans are spacious, and the common areas like the pool, grill, and lounge are all nice and well-kept. The package delivery system is very secure and I have never had a package lost or stolen while living here, which is a welcome change from my last apartment.CONS: The lack of enforcement for COVID regulations makes me feel unsafe using any of the amenities. The gym was closed for months (with no discount on rent) and when it finally reopened, a capacity limit of 5 people and a mask rule were put in place for the gym. These have not been enforced at all. Now, I cant go to the gym I pay for because there are either way too many people in there at once, or selfish residents refuse to do their part by wearing a mask. The front desk staff do next to nothing about it. PLEASE!!!!! At least enforce the mask mandate!!! If people are going to the gym, theyre sweating and breathing hard in that small, poorly-designed gym. It is disgusting. Install cameras, make people check-in at the front, do SOMETHING to better keep residents safe while being able to enjoy the amenity we pay for.Additionally, any and all grass spaces around the apartment are either just mud patches or absolutely covered in dog poop. Its only gotten worse since more people have started moving in. There are only 3 dog waste stations positioned around the property and thats not nearly enough. Even the sidewalks are covered in smeared poo because people will step in the piles so often. I understand that the staff cant control the inconsiderate residents who dont pick up after their dogs, but something needs to change. I have to walk my dog off-property in order to avoid the poop minefield. Can we please get more waste stations installed at least? There isnt a dog park, which is a bummer, but there is a dog bath. However, every time I have tried to use the space, the dog bath isnt clean and is clogged up with hair, dirt, and other muck. Also, the door doesnt work. You scan your fob to get in, but then the door doesnt close behind you... it just beeps and stays open. Not even the manual lock on the door works, so I dont feel safe using it since anyone could see me through the huge window and just walk in. Please, please fix this door problem.I also wish communication between the front office and the residents was more frequent. They used to send out weekly emails announcing what the food truck would be on Tuesday, what events are planned for the week (if any) and any other property updates. Those have almost completely stopped. I got one the other day about a blood drive, but thats been the first email Ive had in awhile. Theres been no update on the gate in the parking garage thats been broken for over a month now, they no longer tell residents what food truck is coming to visit... they even stopped hanging notices and updates in the elevators. They got rid of the courtesy officer and residents were given zero notice or explanation. When we first moved in in March 2020, one of the big selling points for us was the courtesy officer. But shortly after, the courtesy officer just disappeared. Now when our upstairs neighbors have their nightly 11pm roller skating party (thats what it sounds like at least), we just have to deal with it and hope they stop so we can actually get some sleep.I really like my apartment and I love the location so I really do want to be here for another year or two, but with the amount of money I pay every month, its harder to justify when I dont feel safe using the amenities, I cant walk my dog without a biohazard risk, and the front office makes minimal attempts to update and inform residents of the property.
Warren came to my unit to do maintenance today, and as usual he was super friendly and professional. He did what he had to do and was in and out in like two minutes, and we had a nice little chat. Warren is the man!
Overall this apartment complex is convenient, trendy and has a GREAT maintenance staff. But, if you’re looking for safety and a good management team, I would not live here. I moved into this complex in December and have experienced several instances of crime and have noticed the apartment complex has not notified residents of these issues. In March there was a huge incident where a resident or guest of a resident was arrested on The Collective Property by several police officers. My balcony was surrounded by 5 heavily armed officers with dogs and helicopters were passing over the building. Whether or not this person was a resident here, the ordeal occurred on the apartment property and residents were not notified of this incident.During the summer, a friend of ours who lives upstairs and our guest that was here for the weekend had their cars broken into off of Yadkin in the marked spots behind the building. The apartment was notified of this incident and no emails were sent to residents to notify them of this crime or to avoid parking out back. Again I realize this is technically not on The Collectives property, but, it would be courteous to notify residents to avoid this from occurring again.Lastly my bike got stolen and still there was no emails sent to residents to not park their bikes in racks provided by the complex. Because the bike room is full, this was the only alternative for locking up my bike besides taking into my apt. Other residents have bikes locked there and they were all stolen over the course of the next few weeks due to the lack of notifying residents. The bike room also got broken into in the proceeding weeks before the complex FINALLY sent out an email.I understand there are instances that are out of the apartments control, however, it would make me, and I’m sure several over residents, feel safer knowing the apartment complex is notifying us of these crimes especially if they are occurring on or near the premise.I appreciate the events the apartment puts on, the fantastic maintenance staff and the convenience in NoDa but I would never recommend a friend to live here.
Pros: Great location. Friendly and professional staff/management. Great amenities.Cons: Decision makers at the corporate level. All amenities have been closed for the last 3 months, yet we havent received a dollar off of rent. (Pool, gym, workspace, courtyard, coffee machine, literally everything we pay for.) The amenities are still closed, even as apartment pools and gyms are opening all over Charlotte. Update: We havent had a gym for 6 months now, and still havent received a dollar off of rent. Apartment gyms all over Charlotte have been open, but this building refuses to open ours. The scan-in devices at the main doors work about 50% of the time for residents, and rarely ever for deliver drivers.
Meesha was outstanding! We toured just the other day and she was super informative and friendly, gave us a tour and showed us how everything works! First impressions mean a lot to me and she really made an incredible impression on me. Will post an update!
Ive lived here for about a yearPros: This place is in a pretty good location in Noda.Cons: Management rips off residents by not reimbursing them for amenities that they pay for. 99% of the amenities have been closed for months.Thieves go to jail for stealing while The Collective steals from their residents every month and are still in business. This is how they treat their residents during a global pandemic.
Warren was super nice and helpful!! He made sure we had everything we needed.
I LOVE living at the Collective! They throw weekly events that are always fun to go to, the amenities are great, and so is the staff!
The Collective has everything I need and more. Amazing amenities, very clean /modern, and close proximity to restaurants/bars/gyms. This place is very responsive and addresses residents’ concerns quickly. Maintenance is on point. Super pet friendly as well :) Very pleased with the Collective so far!P.S. Marlee and Brittney are amazing at what they do for the residents at the Collective!
Nice enough apartment and amenities but our bike room has been broken into twice and the management refuses to fix the door or install security cameras. Spend less time trying to bring in food trucks and posting on Instagram and more time making your residents feel safe.
I leased from Dallas without ever even seeing the property in person. From the first phone call, Marlee was amazing and made my move from Dallas to Charlotte seamless. The property and my apartment are both beautiful. The area is so convenient and by everything. So many places within walking distance! I’ve only been here a few days and already I feel at home! Thanks Marlee and thanks Britney!
This is great spot to live. Very quiet, and staff is incredible.
The Collective is a home away from home. I couldnt have picked a better place to begin my life in Charlotte than the Collective. While the amenities are consistent with complexes all over Charlotte what separates this community is management. Management is literally on top of everything!!! From addressing any issue that a resident may come across as soon as possible to not sparing a single expense or detail on community events. Management also has a great support team with the groundskeeper and super keeping the complex clean and handling any maintenance issue you may have. Thank you Jostlyn, Brittney, Robbie and Julio.
Pros: fantastic, friendly maintenance staff (Dennis and Warren!) who go above and beyond to address even the most minor concern. One of my USB wall outlets wasnt working, and due to COVID-19 shipping was extremely delayed. Dennis made sure to check in every time we passed each other in the hall to let me know the status and that he hadnt forgotten about my request. I also appreciate that preventative maintenance does happen on a regular schedule. The apartments themselves are really nice, new appliances and the walls and flooring are in good shape. The apartments are well soundproofed -- I barely hear my neighbor if they shout. The doors into the apartments are very heavy and lock with a deadbolt, which makes me feel safe. I also appreciate the free kombucha that is given out every few weeks/month, though we were advertised unlimited coffee/kombucha when I signed. The location is fantastic for access to both downtown and NoDa. The garage offers free EV charging to residents.Cons: with COVID-19, many of the advertised amenities have been closed. Residents received no reduction in rent or equivalent replacement for the loss of use regarding the pool, the gym, the workspaces, or the complimentary coffee/kombucha. We paid a lot of money for luxury apartments, yet when they fail to deliver on what was advertised, theres no recompense.I also agree with another poster who mentioned the lack of follow up once you move in. I had to walk the complex to figure out where all of the amenities were, my trash chute, etc.The apartments response to the pandemic was also disappointing. Despite the exponential rise in cases, the apartment decided to open the gym and the pool, with limits that were for the most part unenforced.Despite the soundproofing in the apartments, quiet hours are anything but. At least 3 days out of the week, certain apartments will host loud parties, complete with bass music that drowns out the TV youre trying to watch and screaming women/barking dogs. These parties last until 1-2 am and there doesnt seem to be any enforcement of mutual respect for residents. The door sensors are often broken/dont open and one of the two elevators is often out of service. There has been dog urine on the floor in addition to trash at times. The advertised directory for guests/delivery drivers to be able to access the building just does not work, and has not as long as I have lived here. The bike room is small and overflowing with bikes. Its also directly accessible to outside/has a huge window facing the street where anyone can see all of the bikes. This room has been broken into and bikes stolen. The only other option for bike storage is outdoor hangers they have mounted in the garage, which are accessible to the public. Residents have had bikes stolen from these, too. I keep mine in my apartment.A small complaint: there are EV chargers on every level of the garage except for 4. It would be nice if residents of that floor could have one to use.Overall, I think this would be a fantastic place to live if apartment policies were actually enforced and communication was improved. As it is, the inability to get consistent sleep is outweighing the pros. If youre a night owl, this is the place for you!Edit: To respond to your reply, I have not been enjoying kombucha because there hasnt been any for months now. And its certainly not unlimited as we were promised. We have been following guidance from the CDC and that is why the amenities were closed for a short time period to ensure the safety of our staff and all residents. -- Yes, I was glad the amenities were closed. My issues are: everything opened back up despite rising case rates and we never received any rent reduction for the complex failing to deliver on its promised amenities. But naturally I am still getting charged the full amount for leaving this apartment early (theres only so long you stand little sleep and the selfishness of constant parties -- COVID, whats that?).
If you want to live in a happy, clean, accommodating, inviting and super fun place then you need to live at the collective. I had been searching and searching for a close to amazing place to call home. then I found the COLLECTIVE!!!! and fell head over heels in LOVE, the office staff amazing, Jostlyn thank you. I have also had some issues that needed the attention of maintenance and Julio and his helper were professional and efficient. thank you to the whole collective team, you guys Rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I moved in at the beginning of February and have been very pleased with the responsiveness and assistance of Kahtia and the front office staff.Perfect location to Downtown NoDa and Optimist Hall, easy drive to I-277. Happy to see the pool is slowly opening and looking forward to the gym reopening as well.
One leg warren is a great maintenance staff to have on sight!
The attention to detail at The Collective is impeccable! Robbi took extra care ensuring I had a chance to notice things I wouldn’t have which I really appreciate. It’s hard to describe but I love the VIBE!
I love this place but they need to OPEN the POOL and GYM!!! It costs way too much to live here and still have these things closed off to residence.
I absolutely love living here! Been here about 7 months and don’t want to leave. Thanks to Katia and Brittney I will be resigning. I highly recommend to anyone looking for a great place to live.
WE NEED A POOL TABLE, FOOS BALL, & GAMES IN THE LOBBY!!! EVERYONE WHO WORKS HERE IS UHMAZING
1. The creative spaces/music room are awesome.2. Marlee was great! Super patient as we looked at all the floor plans.3. The location is amazing...food, basketball court and downtown all really close.4. I highly recommend.
The Collective is in the prime location. You can walk to NODA or right out the door to Amelies, Free Range and Rhino Market. The apartments themselves are beautifully designed and I have minimal issues since I moved in. The amenities (when open) are amazing and have some of the coolest artwork fromlocal artist! My friends and I have loved the gym/yoga room and the coffee area. We are very anxious for the pool to open! Kahtia and Brittany have been very helpful with any question or issue that I have had. They really make you feel like you are part of the community rather than just a tenant in their building. I have recommended this complex to many friends who have since moved in and will continue to!
I have been living here since the complex opened and I love it! Its clean, great amenities, and amazing staff! Brittney, the leasing manager, is by far the most helpful and informative apartment staff member I have dealt with in Charlotte. If you are looking for an apartment complex to live at, look no further!
My roommates and I recently moved into the Collective and are absolutely loving it! Marlee and Brittany have been extremely helpful and cordial in terms of our move-in. They even remembered our dogs names without us having to tell them! Overall, an excellent experience so far and the location is equally as amazing.
I’ve been living here for about 5 months and this is the friendliest staff around. Brittney and Katia were so easy to work with and made the process painless. There is so much to do in the Noda area and all within walking distance of this complex. Absolutely recommend!
If you are looking for a place to live, this holiday season shows that your home should be here at the collective. Then staff is amazing, and they show more and more each and every month how important we are as residents. Campfire night with Smores, a candy bar, providing wrapping supplies, who does that? Nobody but the collective. Thank you Jostlyn, Brittany and Robbie, you guys are the most amazing. Thank you love it here @2300 N. Davidson St Charlotte best address in Charlotte!!!!!!
This place is maybe average at best. Management doesn’t know how to communicate to the residents during quarantine and the hallways smell. Too high of a price for the location and would never recommend this place to anyone.
When I applied, they were offering a rent special – 2 months free. I was really excited about the complex and the great deal. I applied and paid the $75 application fee. Upon submitting the application for a 12 month lease and paying the fee, I was told that the rent special only applies to 14 month leases. I was not aware of this upon submitting my application.I understood their policy at this point, but was not interested in signing a 14 month lease. I apologized for the confusion and asked them to simply return the $75 application fee, as I was not made aware of the policy prior to applying. The complex stated that it was impossible to refund the money. I feel bad about the miscommunication on both ends, but I also think that they need to be more clear about the restrictions of their ‘specials’ going forward. In addition, they took another $400 from my back account. They took the admin fee and $300 deposit during the application process! Prior to me even having an opportunity to sign the lease. They will refund it via check with 30 days. Absolutely would not recommend this place.
I worked with both Katia and Brittney in showing my wife and I some options. They were both incredibly friendly, thoughtful and great to work with. I never felt pushed or forced into anything. Having been here three months now, I absolutely love this complex and love NODA. We are very happy with the decision to live here and welcome any new Good Neighbors.
Alex and I love the collective and their lovely staff! Katia and Brittany are a godsend, so patient and kind, we couldn’t be more happy with our decision!
8/26/20 (2 stars): Approaching the end of my lease and am glad to be moving. The team running the show has changed and I dont think things have improved. Ill run down a list of some issues since my last post. First and foremost: noise-proofing is still awful. I can hear people walking above me. Also, if you are playing your TV too loud you may get a noise complaint. Yes. It is that bad. The call box (Butterfly MX) system on the front door has never been operational, and the elevator one hasnt worked for the past month. No guests are allowed at the pool. Communication has become more poor regarding answering the phone, spreading the word about community events, or following up on issues. Some neighbors and myself have also dealt with a poor attitude from some of the staff. Two months ago I returned to the garage to find six armed police officers on different levels of my garage. A while back I reported yelling and a domestic dispute from a neighbor and was told I would receive follow up from the courtesty officer. Never happened. No communication regarding this incident or the resident running from the cops. Since my last review, they did put signage up regarding where floors are. Very nice. At least the hallways do not smell as strong of marijuana as they used to.~1 year ago (3 stars): Most complaints and shortcomings are due to the cheaper (and rushed) construction of the apartment complex. When I first moved in, there was still dust, bent nails, and copper wiring found on my carpets and floor. Be careful moving anything, it might scratch! Moving stuff across the floor with scratch, cabinets will scrape against each other when opening both, doors often need tweaking... but its okay! Due to thinner walls and floors, you can definitely hear your upstairs neighbor moving about (and sometimes cars/moving trucks outside). The pool was over a month behind schedule to open, and still waiting on the music room to open. Hallways lack signage so it can be a maze navigating. Amenities are generally great, but definitely some misses (dont hang out on a hammock- not comfy!). Some burglaries happened early in my stay, but there is a parking garage with a working gate now that helps security (also delayed). The bright side is that management is on it and getting to everything as fast as they can! Brittney and Marlee both have been doing what they can and super helpful! The Collective will only get better.
We moved in during the month of December Jostlny and Brittany made sure I had all the information I needed to move in with littel to no issues. I recently went into the office on Valentines Day to say thank you on since I finally had some free time, however I was told that Jostlyn who was so amazing, was no longer there. Very sad, but it also made alot of sense, because there have been no resident events and that seemed to be a big thing here, based on the December event flyer and the January flayer.I dont expect anyone to read this and nothing against the current staff but since this is my home it is important to me that I know who I can call if there is an issue and I personally like to have a connection with the office staff. Future Unknown, on the road again
What an outstanding apartment complex to live in! From the time when I toured the apartments (thank you, Britney, for conducting the tour) to getting settled in, management has been very supportive and accommodating to making sure I had what I needed. And if there is any maintenance or adjustments you need in your apartment, the super (Julio) will fix it ASAP. Management also hosts get-together events every now and then to make sure the residents stay connected to one another. It is also a short distance from NoDa if youre looking for some nightlife and restaurants. LightRail is a ten-minute walk but once the county completes the walkway on 25th Street, the walk time will be cut in half. I would highly recommend anyone who is looking for an apartment to check out the Collective! :)
Great community, highly recommend.
We are just moved in and all I can say is we, love the Collective!!! It is close enough to the city to get the feeling of being there, but far enough away. No complaints just praise to the amazing office staff. we initially spoke with Britany and Robbie, however we had some additional needs and had to be directed to the business manager Jostlyn. She was everything, and the reason we moved in. We also love the music room and have used it a few times, also the pool is so relaxing especially after working out in the gym. I am also a fan of the conference room and the club house. thanks Jostlyn for helping us make such an awesome decision P.S Brittany the resident social with the pizza was so dope.
Love this place! Katia and Brittney are amazing!
Remote door opening hasnt worked for months
I love this apartment I wish to change to this apartment with family 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
I moved in the very first day. I looked all over Charlotte for weeks, South End, Park Rd, you name the Wards, Elizabeth, Dilworth, Belmont, University, Oakhurst, Midwood, NoDa.. Marlee and Brittney by far the best customer service, attention and responsiveness. Let me save you the time. This is the place you want to be at: Sweet Gym (barbell included ;) ), Amazing Pool, Best Coffee, Awesome environment different and cool, Music Room. Oh and right next to Free Range (best brewery ever!), Rhino Market and Amelies.. Youre Welcome..
Amazing Staff.
I moved in not long ago but so far Brittney and Marlee have been amazing . So helpful with everything . Glad to be part of this community . Akua Kusi
Lovely and helpful staff with great resources
