RUN from this complex!!!! An individual employed at this complex sent a fraudulent charge for a deposit for an apartment I NEVER moved into NOR signed any paperwork for. This same individual was also trying to pressure me into signing the lease well before it was time to move in. Free advice: NEVER, EVER sign a contract before hand simply because if something changes, a shady place like this will ABSOLUTELY take you to court and get a judgment against you and you will be responsible for the FULL amount of rent for the entire length of the lease even if you don’t move in!!! I do not sign leases until the week before I move in (max). The business practices here are extremely scummy. Completely turned me off from wanting to live here. The new management company should have gotten rid of one old timer in particular that has been there forever because obviously they are contributing to the failures of this complex. Beautiful area, horrible management. You’ll be glad you didn’t get locked into a contract with this place. I would have given ZERO stars had it been an option. Like many other reviews, move here and you’ll likely end up having to pay to break your lease to move somewhere better. Don’t let the beauty of the area fool you. It will never feel like “home” simply because of the piss poor management. A complex is only as beautiful as the hearts of the individuals that manage it. No thanks!!!!!
Terrible! I would advise no one to live here. I have stayed here for 3 months and I have had the water shut off for 2 days and now the AC is not working going on 2 days now. No one answers the phone in the office ever and the barely have maintenance staff. I have tried to contact them and they do no care for there tenants needs. If I could give no stars. I would
I lived at The Estates at Ballyntyne from August-December 2020. At first glance, everything seems fine. The community is attractive and very diverse. The neighbors are friendly. The office staff are also very friendly but did not address my problem. I found my apartment at the height of the pandemic. The tour was done by FaceTime. From the time I moved in from Connecticut I had problems with bugs! There were palmetto bugs (giant cockroaches), water bugs that came out of the air vents and some type of bugs and larvae in the carpet. My apartment was thoroughly cleaned and vacuumed every day but this made absolutely no difference! The office staff was attentive in that they sent the exterminator to my house almost weekly. Eventually I felt like I might get sick from the chemicals. The problem was never resolved! My main issue is that even though they were friendly they did not address the problem. Now that I have moved to another apartment complex I realize that it didn’t need to be a problem at all. They should have replaced the carpet and made sure the apartment was sealed. Maybe it’s because the apartments are older. I don’t know. What I do know is that I incurred over $3500 in expenses that had to do with breaking my lease and moving. In retrospect I wish I would’ve put up a bigger fight about spending money unnecessarily. The living conditions we’re not my fault. I’ve never lived with bugs before and I don’t feel like I should’ve had to.
Absolutely SO DO NOT MOVE HERE. The water has been out for over 12 hours. NO ONE is working on the issue. Our infant daughter has been without clean water ALL DAY. It’s deplorable. They have not kept residents informed. They sent 2 text messages about the situation. It is AWFUL.
Love the people, Robin Andrew.....always, always there to assist us in many many ways. I don’t go to the front office unless I know Robin is/will be there! As for maintenance, Joe is who we have had to repair many things and he has been always very courteous and accommodating.Kudos to Robin and Joe!
Beautiful community in a very safe neighborhood. But during COVID I was not able to contact the office or get a call back from the office. During the summer, my AC broke repeatedly. It was finally fixed by replacing the mother board. Maintenance people are awesome, polite, walk you through what’s going on. If your neighbor is a smoker, you’ll smell it in your home. I’ve read other reviews about the water bugs, believe it! It’s very true. I’ve been here over a year and haven’t had anyone spray as a courtesy.
The staff here are responsive, professional and courteous. They promptly answered all my questions and addressed issues. Joe and Alex from the maintenance team were awesome.
We loved living at Bell Ballantyne! The staff is so friendly, the maintenance team is quick and helpful, and the community is quiet and safe. The property is well maintained and the pink magnolias are beautiful in the spring time. The pool is beautiful, the gym is kept clean, and it is walkable to grocery stores and restaurants. If we hadn’t moved to WI we would still be there! Definitely recommend Bell to anyone moving to South Charlotte.
For anyone considering moving here:Like most people in Charlotte, my family and I are transplants, and rented at Bell while we got settled and looked for homes. It seems that most people that live in this community are as well. There is constantly people moving in and out.I wouldnt consider Bell Apartments Luxury, but they are not bad. We rented a townhome which was quite spacious. We secured our apartment sight-unseen and we were worried that it was going to be lesser than advertised. The master bedroom was spacious, and so was the kitchen. The appliances were a bit rough. Dents and scratches on the fridge, the microwave door was broken, and the cabinets had signs of major wear, and the stove top was cracked. Again, not something I would expect from a luxury place.Overall the apartment was in acceptable shape, no major discrepancies other than multiple little things here and there. We enjoyed the fact that we had a private two car garage, and didnt have to park outside. The office staff was friendly, and they maintenance folks were as well. The club house and amenities were certainly dated in comparison to some of the newer resort-style apparent complexes in the area, but I guess thats to be expected.Thinks we definitely hated:*Bugs. It seems that waterbugs also known as roaches, are common in NC, but even still. We would find them a lot on our garage, and sometimes inside the apartment. Where we come from, only subpar places have these so it was very disappointing to find them here. The office has sent people to spray, but its very gross and annoying to have to deal with them at a Luxury place*The apartment had several, yet minor signs of wear. There were a few things that were broken, not painted properly, missing, or not fixed right. Had they taken a little more time to recondition the place before another family moves in, it wouldve made a huge difference.*If for some reason you have to extend your lease month to month, or a few months, rates go through the roof. After our lease was over, we had to stay a couple of months, and the rent went up by $1,000 per month if we did a month to month. Really? I mean, I get it going up a little bit, but not by 50% more.Things we enjoyed:*Its a very quiet community. Most folks that live here are families that just moved to Charlotte. It is very family/ dog friendly. Although people are friendly, they are respectful and tend to keep to themselves. Sometimes you would see children playing outside, and a lot of folks walking their dogs.*We never saw vandalism of any sort. Not only is it a quiet community, its is quite safe as well. I didnt have to worry about walking alone or having kids playing outside. Most residents that live here seem to be professionals.*There are many trees throughout the community, and they do a great job at keeping things well manicured. Gives it a nice sense of privacy. We dont regret out time here, and would not deter anyone from moving here. I just think that Bell needs to do a better job at up keeping their apartments, and perhaps modernize them a bit. In addition, they need to get their bug issue under control.
Beautiful community, Spacious apartments. I am happy with my decision to stay at Bell Ballantyne. I was skeptical at first, considering I was unable to see apartment in person due to Covid-19. However, the office staff and easy to use application simplified the process.
Very courteous and knowledgable consultants. The response time to any maintenance needs is very good. Alex (maintenance) does a very good job of taking care of your maintenance needs, is very friendly and doesnt leave a mess. The community is convenient to amenities in the area, kept clean and is nice and quiet.Parking is an opportunity for residents
My move to Bell Ballantyne was my first apartment experience as I’ve always owned my homes, and I was afraid apartment living meant a sterile, generic environment. I was pleasantly surprised to find arched doorways, great use of space, beautiful kitchen with stainless appliances, deep windowsills ( for my cat to perch and look for dogs and birds) and a generous private porch. Both bathrooms are roomy with the master having both a soaker tub and walk-in shower! So many extras I know I’m forgetting something, but the extra deadbolt on the front door was a reassuring surprise. I’ve found Bell Ballantyne to be much more than an apartment - it’s a home!
Price high. Issues with bugs. Amenities constantly closed/broken. Lengthy wait time for maintenance (months). Crime and graffiti.
Of all the apartments in the Charlotte area this is the best! I can say that confidently because we toured A LOT before choosing Bell Ballantyne as home. We could not of made a better choice. Between the staff, the quietness, the beautiful and HUGE apartments, and a great safe location you can’t go wrong. As someone who has lived in several apartments this one is a true gem!
For roughly the same price as some of the new apartment complexes around, you can live here in a real neighborhood, with trees, a great pool and clubhouse. There is a good dog park and the common areas around are well kept. I like the grills they have scattered throughout the complex, I use them a lot. Another thing is that even though we live close to each other I hardly ever hear my neighbors.
Ive lived here for a couple of months now and it is the worst, the heating and AC are ridiculous the high ceilings make it so the bottom floor is freezing and the top floor is scorching hot, and you can hear your neighbors just having a normal level conversation, the washer and dryer are on the bottom floor and you have to carry your clothes from 3 flights of stairs, they do yard work two to three times a week which is really nice unless youre there during the day, hours of loud leaf blowers which with out fail always gives me a head ache and my infant cant sleep through it, we once tried to book their theater that they talk about is such an added bonus and they never returned our call or email, the day we wanted it for came and past with out hearing anything from them, theyre charging a INSANE amount for how awful of a place it is.On the better side of things though, I do like the size of the rooms and the bathrooms, the area is really nice and pretty there is a lot of dogs but they are all well behaved.
We were looking for an apartment within our budget but yet meets the highest of standards and have no need to look any further. The leasing consultant Rachel was kind, courteous, and very knowledgeable supplying us with all the information necessary to make an informed decision. We viewed 2 different floor plans and fell in love with the layout(s). We are now finalizing our decision and are excited to be moving in soon. Thanks again to the staff at Bell Ballantyne for making our search for a new home a pleasant one.
I have lived in Bell Ballantyne for 5 months now. My apartment condo is spacious and upscale and exactly what I was looking for. Tara and Rachel have taken great care of me and responded to every question and need that I have had on an ongoing basis. The amenities are very nice and they take very good care of lawn, trees, etc. Initially, having moved from a gated home community with a large lot, I was a bit concerned at my ability to adjust to a new setup. I have no more concerns and am very happy with my new home.
We have been completely satisfied. We love this community! The apartment is lush!
I have lived in this community for 2 years now and I can honestly say, I have loved it! I’ve had both a 1 bedroom as well as a 3 bedroom, and both units were excellent (100% spoiled to the attached garage that is included with every unit). The office staff has been super friendly & beyond helpful when needed, and the maintenance crew has always been prompt with all of my request. I can easily say that I’ll be here for a while!
I moved in to Bell Ballantyne after selling my house, in just a few hours. I had expectations that my first experience renting would be a pleasant one. I loved the size of my apartment (1620 sq. ft.) although the cabinets, etc. were obviously very much abused by former tenants. The washer and dryer were the oldest and cheapest you could find. The dryer ruined several items for me. Although you could find old appliances among the tons of trash strewn all over the compacter area, maintenance refused to replace mine. Great care is taken to the upkeep of the exterior of the office and pool area. However, the side street buildings have awful (and embarrasing shrubs in front of them. Repairs are done by staff that is not equipped to do a professional job. The trash area has been a disaster most of the time that I lived there (2 years). The big joke is they quote you a renewal rent amount that is higher than they will give you if you negotiate. My rent was raised $200 per month at my last renewal date. That was the final straw. (Who gets such an increase?) When I informed them that I was leaving due to the increase, I was told You should have spoken to us, so that we could have helped you. Very professional outfit.
Ive been living here for a month now and Im pretty happy here. There were several small things wrong with the apartment when we moved in (mostly cosmetic such as paint, etc.). However, after putting a service request in, the staff acted quickly and got the job done. Although the apartment wasnt in as great shape as I would have liked when moving into a new apartment, especially at this price, the staff seems reasonable and caring. The community is absolutely beautiful and the amenities are to die for!
Great place to live! Excellent location, close to lots of shopping and areas to walk. Highly recommend Bell Ballantyne.
Ive lived here since 11/2015 and Im so happy that Ive since decided to sign two leases here! While it is a little pricier than I would like, I have an attached garage, SO MUCH storage space, and a lot of room (for all of the junk that I own). The pool being open year round is an awesome benefit (how many times have we all hated having to wait for Memorial Day to go for a swim?)!I am thankful for the maintenance crew here; Brian and CJ are extremely responsive and quick with resolutions and (I dont know his name) has also fixed major issues Ive had (I use the microwave too often...).The office staff is friendly and communicative. Tara, Rachel, and Lisa always have a smile for me and any questions I have are answered in a timely fashion. Rachel was the reason I decided to move here in the first place; her personal attention to my wants and needs (I had a dog, I wanted a gym, the pool and its surrounding area are beautiful, the feeling that this was a neighborhood and not just an apartment complex, etc. - I could go on for a long time) helped me decide that I wanted to be here while I was in Charlotte. I still rely on her for help with work orders, information and answers to questions, and tips about Charlotte as a whole (where to eat, interesting things to do and see, and good plans for my free time). If you are looking for a place to live, I would recommend Bell Ballantyne!
This place is a absolute joke. They have no regard for there tenants at all. As Im sure youve seen in other reviews the parking is a joke and the ameneties they offer work half the time. They have no problem over charging for a place to live but do not attend to any of your service requests in a timely fashion. One thing I can say is STAY AWAY. Unless you enjoy being harassed at a place you pay too much for a terrible living experience.
The new management is a joke. They have changed everything that used to be good about this neighborhood and destroyed a good neighborhood. Youd have to be a fool to move there now for the money theyre charging. They have some nerve calling it luxury when half the community features are broke or being discontinued.
I love this place the flood plans are amazing, The staff is so helpful and sweet! The amenities are to die for and the landscape is beautiful!
Terrible place to live.Previous management was wonderful and built a great community with weekly events. In the several months since they took over they have had one event. An event that was planned before their buy out. They have yet to announce any new plans. Its no longer a community, its just a place to live. For the price youre paying it isnt worth that.Bell Ballantyne is the least green management team there is. Previously there was nothing on paper. Notices were emailed, rent was paid online with online statements. The default was opting in to paperless billing. Now that Bell has taken over we get a monthly rent bill in our mailbox. The kicker is that it says at the top of the bill, Go green today! Enroll in paperless billing. WE WERE ALREADY GETTING PAPERLESS BILLING. Youre just killing trees. Any notices are both attached to your door and emailed. Again killing more trees for no reason.Putting in service requests is almost useless. On several occasions we have put in requests and gotten confirmation emails and phone calls. Then nobody shows up. We have to go to the office to complain for them to send out a maintenance person. To compare, with the last management team we had a sink issue that persisted for several days. To compensate us they gave us a prepaid card with a balance equivalent to several days rent.My latest issue is mandatory dryer vent replacements. A member of the management team, Rachael, called me a one day ago saying they will be by my apartment in just a bit. Nope, no one came. She called again this morning. My girlfriend answered and asked, Didnt you say you were coming by yesterday? To which Rachael replied Noooo....maintenance is actually on their way now and will be there shortly. As Im writing this review it has been 45 minutes and nobody has been to my apartment.Management is unreliable, detrimental to the environment, and full of fake smiles. If they truly cared about more than my rent payment they would bother getting involved in the community. Instead I hear from my neighbors about how this place has gone downhill. Dont move here. There are better complexes within several minutes. Elements South and Bexley Crossing at Providence to name a few. I havent lived in either of those communities personally, but my experience with Bell is so terrible I would absolutely say its worth it to just flip a coin for either of those rather than live here.
Constant noise above me. Running, kids doing cartwheels in the house right over my bedroom. No consideration from the neighbor even after I politely asking the tenant to please keep the loud noises down.
I wasnt impressed and recommend looking at the surrounding apts for more amenities and more experienced management.
Nice place. Love the location!!!
The management at this residence is an absolute joke, and I am not exaggerating this. Do not live here at all expense.
THE WORST!!!!! No warnings on parking before being towed....3 story apt no heating in bottom level....poor office staff....place was awesome before new bell corp took over...place is over priced....dont do it....place is a joke now.....seeing more spiders and bugs now....too!
Im not sure which is worse, management or maintenance. All of my neighbors moved away so there was no reason to stay anymore. This is no longer a community. Everyone hates living here.
Beautiful apartments pricey but will worth it
