This place is absolutely lovely! Their new location, just next door to their old one, is so relaxing; it is luxurious and comfortable at the same time. All of their staff is incredibly friendly and kind. Amanda is always the most patient with my indecisiveness and truly does such an incredible job. They are always busy so be patient, they move quickly and you’re going in there to relax and take a load off so wait patiently, I promise it is worth it. They work incredibly efficiently and hard all day. 10/10 recommend to anyone looking for highly professional, kind humans and beautiful nails! I always leave there smiling.

This is Becky Powell, not sure why this is under my husbands account... I have been going to Sea Star since they opened in their old location. It had been about 3 years since my last pedicure which was at another competitor on the island who had just opened up and my friend who was treating for my bday wanted to go there. I was not impressed so knew next time I had money and time I would be going back to Sea Star. It was my first time at the new location and I was blown away at the interior and setup. They also have a loyalty customer program now as well! I did not have an appointment and waited for a little bit before I was escorted to a pedi chair where I enjoyed soaking my feet in warm water that they tempature checked and the massage chair. They also offered me a beverage: water, soda, wine, or mimosa. I sipped on my mimosa happily while I waited prob 15-20 min...they were slammed with very little staff. Once my technician arrived and we picked out my package she went to work on my overworked feet, toes, ankles, and legs. I dont know if it was because I had not been in years, or the fact it was a dreary Sunday after getting off work in the blazing heat all day, or the fact that I understand most services are different now because of covid (longer wait times for cleaning and distancing, short staffing) but I enjoyed every minute of knowing I was being pampered of every aspect they could. My technician was very sweet and seemed to give me a little extra love since it had been so long. Women who have the luxury of getting manis/pedis regularly I applaud you and am jealous. Just please treat this team/staff right because they are amazing and I wish I could see them monthly instead of once a year if Im lucky.

I visited the new location after a horrible experience at a different salon on the island. I walked in and was greeted immediately. I was unfamiliar with the type of manicure I wanted and they were incredibly helpful and gentle. The place is sparkling new and very clean. I would 10/10 recommend and will definitely be back. The sweetest people work here. They were considerate and made sure I had exactly what I wanted. Best communication in a long long time. I stayed until after they had closed on a crazy stormy evening and they insisted I stay as long as I needed to ensure my safety. Can’t wait to come back!!

Made an appointment but once I was sat in the chair, I didnt see anyone for 15 minutes until I got up and said something. I paid for the Delux for the extra massage time and callus remover but other than a pumice stone, there was no callus remover and the only massage came from rubbing the hot rocks on my legs for a few minutes. The tech didnt push my cuticles down, did not paint my nails how I asked repeatedly for, never put oil or lotion on my feet. When the top coat was done he bolted off to the next customer. Very disappointing!

Everyone is so nice and welcoming when you walk in! In my opinion they’re the best in the lowcountry!I live in Walterboro and choose to go to Sea Star Nails (1 hour away) versus going to anyone in here or Summerville (30 mins away).

I used to love going to Sea Star. This place has seriously changed. I went to get a gel manicure and called before I left. They said 20 mins so when I walked in 20 mins after calling they dismissed me and continued to take walk in’s before me. When I spoke up they pulled someone out of the back. It’s been 2 days since I had my nails done and one has already chipped and the other has started cracking (see photos) this would have never happened a year ago. Scott and his wife are no longer there and since then things have taken a turn for the worst. They also changed to a cheaper polish. Won’t ever be going back, which is a true shame.

The professionals here are patient and thorough at making sure that everything is done properly. The results here speak for themselves and I have been consistently impressed with everything.

Moving from out of state I was having an extremely hard time finding someone to achieve my exact pink and white that I’ve been getting for years. After doing some research I decided to try Sea Star nails, I showed Scott the photo of how I had my nails before moving and he absolutely mastered it! Everyone was so kind and welcoming and the prices are AMAZING. My husband even said that Scott did my nails better than my previous nail tech. They took forever to get to me this time, but they didn’t have very many people working. I had to wait about 45 minutes which is usually not the case but I was also in a bit of a time crunch. I guess it’s kind of my fault because I didn’t book an appointment so I can’t put that on them; but the service took forever as well. I will remember to book ahead of time and with the one person I really like there. This girl did a great job but not my favorite. It also sucks that they’re still not offering a beverage with your service when other places around town are again!

I go here all of the time for my pedicures. Nice selection of colors in the nail polish lasts longer than most places.Edit:The new building looks beautiful inside (May 2021) however I really hope they hire more people because theres usually only three working and customers walk out because of the wait.

I had a 2 pm appointment for daughter and I. We called to say we were running 5 minutes late which didn’t matter because they all had someone in their chair that they had been doing. At 3 pm they fill up the water for the pedicure with cold water for me to soak my feet. I had to ask several times to make it warmer. The guy filing my toes cut the side of my toe a couple times. I told the manager that he should have called to say they were running over an hour behind so I could have done something else with my daughter. Would not recommend this place at all!!

My first time here. My pedicure looks great, but the real stunner was my full gel set. The young guy did it and I’ve never had a set look this good. Highly recommend and prices were reasonable ($47 for full set, $25 for pedicure).

This place is great... My nail artist took her time and did an amazing job on my nails. Decent prices and they even offer a student discount... I will be back.

The overall service was excellent and the atmosphere was welcoming. Scott did a terrific job with the French manicure and took the time to explain the different manicure services. I also enjoyed the red wine. I was there before and liked it, much better than the other salons in the area. I definitely will be back and looking forward to the services.

Very poor costumer service. Will never ever go back here & definitely won’t be giving any recommendations. They really need to shut this place down or put better workers in this establishment. I have never felt so humiliated in such a setting.

I love this place. They really appreciate all their customers and I can see that when someone comes in and they make a point to acknowledge the customer and get them in quickly but not sacrificing the quality of their work.I witnessed two ladies come in and then walk out,( it was a little busy that day). The tech who I believe is the owner, ran out after them and brought them back inside.I don’t know what he said to them... I just heard them say, “ glad he came out to get us”.I’d rather wait for good quality service and work than not.Definitely worth the wait.. I mean that is why they stay busy... they’re just that good :)

I’ve been getting my nails done for 20+ years. I’ve been with the same salon for almost 8 years, until two weeks ago when the owner became a little sassy. Walking into Sea star nails spa! Was an amazing experience. The staff is unbelievable, and the workmanship of my nails and my toes are on Fleek! I will be a forever customer🤗

My nails were not filed properly and my hands came out very different. Overall I like my right hand better than the left. But they were very nice and my sisters are amazing so I guess it depends on who you get.

I’ve tried a lot of nail salons in the Charleston area and Sea Star continues to be my favorite. Everyone is really nice and Andy does a great job every time he does my nails. You can tell that he cares and takes pride in what he does.

I have tried every nail salon on James Island... Sea Star is BY FAR the BEST. Because I typically get SNS or acrylic nails, it can be hard to find someone who can make them last for two weeks+ and get the shape of the nail right. Sea Star has never let me down!! They always take their time on my nails and make sure each one is perfect and to my liking! They also have different pedicure options you can chose from and give you a complimentary drink(s) which is always a plus ;*) Highly recommend this nail salon over all the others on the island!!!!!!

This place is wonderful!! I am new to town and had an interview for a nursing job the next day. Scott fixed up my nails and made them look incredible. So glad to have found my new nail salon on the first try and I got the job!!

This place is so amazing! They are well priced and super friendly. Its hard to point out my favorite part between the massage chairs, the complimentary champagne or the great foot/leg massage when getting a pedicure! I dont treat myself often but when I do I cone here!

I went in this place on a Sunday with NO appointment! Theyre very sweet and very helpful. I showed them a design I wanted and they did perfect it! Looks very shiny and beautiful. I see why their clients always return.

I have been coming to sea star nails since I have heard about the SNS product that they carry and every experience has been 5 stars but today I came in to get slated for my birthday and SCOTT and the TEAM at Sea Star has went above and beyond to make be feel like a STAR!! I just love their work and recommend that you try them out.

:( I was looking forward to a good experience based on the reviews I had read. However, I went in for my gel fill, my thumbnail chipped and broke once I got to my car and turned the key. They advertise a free repair and garuntee their work so I go in for a repair and to my dismay a repair is simply them filing smooth the chipping and repainting ( which I literally could do at home...) not to mention the nail color they repainted is wrong. So now I have 9 nails the same color, one square filed thumbnail and one repair filed different colored thumbnail. Needless to say I wont be back.

Only nail place Ill go. They are so friendly and do a superb job. My SNS have lasted me over a month, no chips and flawless. I moved deep into West Ashley from James Island, and despite how far I live I will continue to make the drive and go to this place. It is well worth it. Im always so happy when I leave there. I was a walk in with my two daughters. We were helped right away and received excellent service. Great experience

This was my second time going here and I regret going back if I am being honest. I went to get my nails done the first time and they looked okay (not the best not the worst). The second time however I went to get a fill in and color change, it was horrible with what the end results were! Both of my ring fingers have bumps where they filled it in and you can tell they just slapped more on there. You can see the lines from the brush on all of my nails, and huge clumps of polish are left on it and they are chipping off. The shape is off and when using the UV light it felt like my skin was sizzling so I had to remove it and the man laughed at me. It was just a mess, I don’t think I’ll ever go there again.

Today,I was the first person in Charleston to get HOMBRE NAILS.Sea star nails is a very good AND very popular place, even though they take walk ins. But Scott gave me Pink and white HOMBRE NAILS, I believe this is the only place in Charleston to do HOMBRE NAILS. Be sure to ask for Scott.

I did a walk in and I must say I was impressed by the cleanliness and customer service offered. My wait time was short and I want to say thanks to my nail tech Jenny shes the best, I havent had nail art in over 4 years and she did an Awesome job. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and I must say its the best Ive had.I definitely recommend her and Ill be back to get my nails done with her.

Granted I’m a visitor from out of state, but this was the most expensive and worst manicure I’ve ever had. Chipped nails not even 24 hours later, charged me $7 for “removal” of my dipped nails and their standard polish service was $18... so I paid $25 for chipped nails that I will be redoing myself after I get home and I was never offered a “free drink” either. Additionally the charge for the “removal” was told to me after I was finished! The whole thing felt like entrapment! Thanks for a whole lot of nothing except disappointment.

I recently moved to james island and the staff is amazing today I went in and they had the worst and racial spurred client I never seen anything like it they threw the card at manager and proceeded to say they dont speak English (how rude) i tipped extra for their ignorance i recommend this place to everyone

I started getting SNS here and have had several places through the country do it and no other place is as good. Super friendly and communicative. My nails never grew before and now they do with SNS! I love it! I dont know what I was doing before with that horrible gel polish. My manicure will last abut 2.5 weeks and still look fabulous! They can do just about anything. They do a fantastic job and their customer service is lovely.They offer wine, beer or water upon arrival. Enjoy! I havent had a bad nail tech since going there. The pedicure has improved over time and they really listen to customer suggestions. I love spending a Thursday afternoon there relaxing.Scott and his team are the best! Dont go when youre in a hurry they take their time to give you quality work.Ive been going here for two years!!!! LOVE THIS PLACE!

Scott and Megan run an amazing nail salon! Always clean. Clean implements, clean pedicure bowls (which is very important to me because I am a cosmetologist myself!). Their staff is top-notch because they do SO many services. I’ve gotten SNS in many major cities (Dallas, Atlanta, Nashville) and NOBODY compares to the quality of Sea Star. I drive 45 minutes (from Summerville) to get my nails done because I know I will get wonderful service every time.

As busy as it was, he did such an awesome job. Friendly staff. Works hard to be as perfect as possible.

I don’t know why this place has such good reviews. I guess it depends who you get. Yes it is clean and they offer drinks. However, that does not matter if the pedicure is bad. I have been there TWICE. And I have had two different men. The first time the pedicure was nice, but the actual pedicure polish was bad. Bumpy, sloppy. The second time (today) the pedicure itself was bad, and the polish job was terrible. The pedicure actually HURT. I have raw cuts on my feet. Both my pinky toes are sore, red, raw and weeping fluid. He took a lot my actual SKIN off around the cuticle. I am going to have to be very careful so they not get infected. I will definitely be going somewhere else in the future. It is a shame, because this place is right next to house.

I will not attempt to try this salon again. It was the most unwelcoming atmosphere ever. when I walked in, some of the staff members looked at me and didnt acknowledge me. I came in for a broken nail and before the lady even saw the nail she told me no they couldnt do it. I replied with, so you dont fix broken nails. she said they are busy. I let her know that normally people are offered an opportunity to wait as I was prepared to do. it totally seemed like a hassle to her. I came here because of the reviews but obviously if you are like me, you arent welcomed.

The staff was very nice and got me done quickly however.. I live in Georgia and was there with a wedding party to get our nails done all together. Tomorrow marks 2 weeks and my Sns is cracked, shattered, and chipping off already. It was shattering a week after.. the girl who usually does mine I can go about four weeks with out a chip. I feel like if I had the opportunity to come have them fixed I would feel better about the whole thing but I live hundreds of miles away. I’m just disappointed because I will have to pay to have them redone after only a two weeks.

All in all, an excellent place. My first visit was not perfect, but when I went back to show them the two nails I wasnt happy with, they fixed the two problems with zero hesitation. They were patient and understanding, and I left feeling much happier with this business.
