Fantastic place. Went on a rainy Saturday morning for haircuts for me and my son. No wait. The ladies were pleasant to both of us and my daughter. They were more than happy to let the kids play with the dog that was there (it was practically encouraged). Suckers and sodas for the kids. They shaved my neckline and gave a hot towel. $20 haircut, totally worth it, and they were so sweet to my kids.
Best shave Ive ever had. Not to mention the staff is friendly and very professional.
When they say old-fashioned Barber Shop they arent kidding. I needed a shave in my mustache trimmed and my friend who was receiving this service thought it was enjoyable especially when they use the straight razor on the back of his neck and a warm towel. The prices are great for the services you received you need to check it out thank you
I loved her and the job she did to my.son hair
Great service! Great prices and the decor of the shop was really unique too! My barber/stylist Dana did a great job and I was in and out quickly. They have an extensive list of barber services Id highly recommend this place! I will definitely be back there when I need a haircut again.
Anna is the one to see for a great cut or clean hot razor shave!
Quick (very important) and skilled (more important). This place makes me wanna grow a mustache...
Rae was awesome! Great cut, great price.
Really enjoyed the look and feel of the place. Sat down on a comfy couch with a beer while I waited. My barber, Wallace, was skilled and checked with me often to make sure I got exactly the cut I wanted. Price was par for the level of quality. I will be returning.
I made a second try to the one close to downtown. They worked with me, got me in and out. I met the owner Jeri, she in my opinion try’s to take care of the customer. I appreciate her working me in last minute! Great atmosphere at both locations, friendly staff, seem to be professional. Will be back!
Great place for straight razor shavesAsk for Anna
Walked in and was taken care of immediately. The shop was really cool looking and professional, I loved all the amenities such as free beer and foosball. The girls who were working were kind and welcoming. The cut was one of the best Ive had in awhile and I really liked the personal service I received. I will be back for sure!
This is the best place for man to get his man card back! Great service! Ask for Dana!!
This is the only barbershop I recommend or would go to in Charleston! They do great professional work in an awesome atmosphere! The owner Jeri is very personable and dedicated to the shop!
Nice environment, experienced barbers and a great owner! Give em a shot, you will not be let down! Be sure and ask for Kaitlin too, she is very detailed and picky about her work! Definitely my go to when I need a haircut! Well done Jeris!
Friendly stylist and great atmosphere. Not just another barber shop. Its now my go to !!
I live in Sumter, SC. I’m flying out and waited to get to Charleston to get my hair cut. Been here a couple of time and used the same person that lives in Florence and cuts hair here a couple days a week. By I’ll use anyone, I’m not picky! I Arrive, walk in and was told that I need to make an appointment, I go to my car, call and the lady said we are only taking appointments on line... lol! I guess they are not worried about the first rule of business... with out clients/customers there is no need for employees! I’m sorry I had a very poor experience because I’m a creature of habit. One bad apple spoiled the whole cart.
Kaitlin is the best barber Ive ever had. She is patient when I explain what I want, then she does it better than I had in my head. Every other barber Ive had there has been great. Free Bud light in a fridge. This is the place to go.
Rae is fantastic. Professional, extremely nice and does a great job!
Tucked into a corner of a small strip mall lies the barber experience youre looking for! Two stores down from Subway stop missing this golden nugget. First barbers ALL SKILLED, whatever you need they can do it. Co-ed Barbers as well which is a plus. Clean fresh old school feel, friendly and knowledgeable. Last but not least, free beer, soda and water while you wait! Stop waiting and go.
Nice people. Good work done
The staff are fun and professional. Nice atmosphere. Free soda or water while you wait.
First time coming here, but I will be coming back! Rae was extremely helpful and did a wonderful job cutting my hair.
I found Jeri’s when looking for a local business that has the old school mentality of doing business; which to me means putting the customer first. The barbers I saw there were always professional and did a good job.Unfortunately, they have just implemented an online booking system and are only seeing clients with appointments booked using the online system. While I do understand that a Covid-19 measure like going “appointment only” to limit customers in shop at any given time is required, I do not think a shop that touts itself as being “old school” should force loyal customers to book appointments online- requiring them to enter credit card information to hold an appointment.Looked up a barber down the street, called, and set up an appointment in less than 1 minute. Lovejoy’s is the name of the new place, with ACTUAL old school barber customer service.I do want to stress the fact that the barbers I saw were pretty good, just not the overall experience I expect from a business with “old school” in its name.
Best barber shop in West Ashley. Walk in or appointment. Ask for Dana
This place is great. They did a wonderful job on my sons hair and they are super friendly. Also, I love their decorations.
Felt really uncomfortable here with covid going on. No masks. Guy there (not a customer) just sitting around watching political anti-covid videos on his phone. Won’t be back
Great spot. Dana and Lisa were awesome. Very nice inside and they give you drinks! Very pleased with my cut, shave, and experience
Very bad experience, walked in to schedule an appointment. Asked one question if I could schedule a time with Karen. Not only they did not help me to do that, but also in a every rude way they basically asked to go away and schedule an appointment online with out telling me where to go do that. Called me the next day asking why I did not show up for my appointment with a complete different person. I explained the situation and just hang up on me. ... So ... good luck with doing business that way!
Great place, highly recommend. Perfect place for a guy to get a haircut. Very reasonable prices, locally owned not a big corporate barber shop. My wife says best haircut I ever got!
I really enjoy getting a haircut and shave at Jeri’s Old School Barbershop 2. Kaitlin does an amazing job each and every time. The atmosphere is truly old school barbershop from the comfortable seating to the drinks.
Great experience. Had a great cut and shave with a beer!
Ive been here a number of times since I live right down the street, but now Im finally aggravated enough to write a review. Each time I had a haircut, I ended up getting home and taking scissors to my hair and cutting it again myself. Ive told each different person how I like a cut and without fail, its never accurate. After the cut, I had zero blending done between the sides and top (they just combed the hair towards the front despite me combing it back down 3 separate times and asking them to cut it evenly). I ask for the front to be longer and again, without fail, the front is the shortest part of what they did cut. Even the rest of the top is wildly uneven because, again, they comb the hair into a mohawk and cut just the middle part. So now, Im sporting a shaved head (which I did myself), despite having asked for a medium fade/blend (the fade she cut originally was incredibly high), the top to be evened out, and the front to be a little bit longer. Yesterday was the last straw, Im done trying to get a decent haircut at this place and will take my money elsewhere.
When this place first opened it was phenomenal. theyve turned over their staff where its just a bunch of cranky old ladies now, and theyre a cash only business now. ( They werent last month)its 2020 how are you going to be a cash only business.
Went in today with hair past my shoulders. It was a mess. They made me feel like a newMan leaving. Very comfortable environment with very knowledgeable and helpful barbers. Would definitely recommend. And they have free beer.
Great old school Barber shop. Staff are Excellent!
Everyone is very welcoming and nice. My husband got his hair cut there. He was very upset the person that cut his hair seem very inexperienced and did not seem to fit in a barbershop, she did not know how to do a fade and did not listen to any of the instruction that my husband gave her about how he wanted his hair. He got frustrated but remain polite and we just left. Maybe other barber in there are decent but our experience was terrible. Will have to go somewhere else to get it fixed and touched up.
Quality depends heavily on who you get so have to pay close attention to whose working before you commit. Ive had some of the best cuts of my life in this place though so I keep coming back.
First shave with a straight razor.
Came in today for my Sons First Barber Hair Cut :-) heard good things about it and Jeri was amazing ! She made my son comfortable and made it enjoyable ! We found our new home ! Would highly recommend Jeri’s Old School Barbershop ! Thank you Jeri and John !
Had a beer, got a hair cut, pleasant staff
Went there this afternoon after having not been in awhile. Apparently they dont take credit or debit anymore and direct you to the ATM in the back of the store.Bad news there, as my bank flagged the attempt to draw cash as fraudulent, so I left. Dont really understand how its 2020 and places like this are going back in time.Total bummer too, as I havent had a bad experience there up until today.
Got my first cut here about a month ago. Asked for a mid fade - with a slight angle and more length up top - and the stylist did a great job. She said she usually works at the North Charleston shop, but I live in West Ashley and figured I’d get similar service at this location. So I went back a couple weeks later (Oct 4). That’s when things went south. Before I go any further, I’ll mention that this is literally my first ever online review (for real) and I don’t usually give much weight to negative reviews because lots of folks either have unrealistic expectations or are just habitual complainers. With that said…A different stylist than before sat me down and she seemed nice at first. I showed her a picture of the cut from the prior visit and she got started. She didn’t say much, but seemed to take care in what she was doing. When she thought she was done, she gave me the hand mirror to check out the back and sides. The fade was lower than in the picture I had shown her, so I politely asked her to take it up a bit higher. After making that adjustment it was almost where I wanted it, so I asked her to go just a bit higher still. It was then that I think she lost her patience, although she didn’t say anything as she went to make the second adjustment but her body language had changed and I could sense some irritation. (Btw up to this point, I had been nothing but nice. I’ve had a handful of stylists elsewhere screw up this cut and didn’t want that to happen here, but she had done it fine so far except for my two small, reasonable requests.) After that I checked it again and she had gone noticeably higher than the little bit I asked for. She asked if that was good and, being a straight shooter, I said it was too high. Now I’ll admit that I was a little groggy that day and, in hindsight, I think my reply did sound a bit snappy…my bad, but I wasn’t a jerk by any stretch. She then said I should take a picture for future reference, so I showed her the picture I’d shown her to start with. She said “that’s pretty low” and I disagreed and said so. By then, there was mutual tension as she finished up, but we didn’t speak anymore until she’s ringing me up. She charges me $31. I tell her I was only charged $21 the previous visit for the exact same cut (even though the website says $20 for a mens cut, but whatever). She says she charged me the extra $10 for a cleanup, but hesitantly changes it to $21. As I’m paying, I try to ask her if I was under-charged the last time, but she’s now blatantly ignoring anything I say and talking over me to other employees and customers. I ask her for her name and she answers “Ya know it really doesn’t matter anymore.” So I ask who the owner is and she says again “It really doesn’t matter anymore. I’ve been more than patient with you…” and that she’s had enough of my attitude. No joke. (Apparently asking for 2 small adjustments required being “more than patient”. And the attitude accusation was just ridiculous.) Then she loudly says “YOU NEED TO LEAVE.” I look at her in disbelief and she repeats “YOU NEED TO LEAVE.” Everyone in the shop is looking on at this point and, not wanting to cause more of a scene, I just left. The next day, I called Jeri (the owner) on her personal phone and left a voicemail asking to discuss the experience I had, hoping to smooth this out. (I was even going to apologize if I had sounded snappy, as I mentioned above. Heck, I was actually ok with the final cut when I looked at it later on). She never called back, which all but confirmed my suspicion that it was her who had actually cut my hair. So I check the facebook page pics and, sure enough, it was her. That’s right, THE OWNER unreasonably lost her temper, tried to over-charge me, wouldn’t tell me who she was, yelled at me to get out, and wouldn’t return my call. Absolutely none of those things were deserved and I say that as someone with many years experience in customer service. Needless to say, I won’t be back.
Jeri is the greatest!
The Master barber there is truly a master!
Kaitlyn Victoria is excellent! Ask for her specifically when you come in.
Ive had 3 haircuts here since they opened. 1st one is from a guy that isnt there anymore. The same person cut my hair the next 2 times, which were totally different. I said the same thing both times. The second time I corrected her to do it how I said and then she took all the hair off the sides. The owner said she would fix it, but our schedules didnt line up. Plus my hair needed to grow. They blamed it on the complexity of the haircut, but my issue is why would it be so different. If you arent particular about your hair then this is your place. If you want something spacific then dont go here.
Katie is excellent with a straight razor. Need a fade and/or beard trim, see Katie.
