DO NOT RENT A CAR HERE! The cars are dirty and they have a bug issue…First car they gave me, had spiders and a water bug. I wasn’t aware until hours later. Which unfortunately it was too late to drive back to return the car. We had to come back the next day.The second car, we didn’t even get to sit inside. As soon as the car rental employee opened the trunk to put our bags in, two water bugs came crawling out. He apologized and admitted that this is a situation that’s more common than it should be. He then upgraded me free of charge and ensured me that the vehicle didn’t have any bugs. The third car didn’t have any bugs but you could tell it wasn’t cleaned properly. It was sticky and garbage left in the car. And the gas tank was barely half way.This took up a lot time out of our day. The only accommodation was the free upgrade after two cars had bugs and one day car rental was credited($11). No discount on the toll pass or insurance even though our first two days were ruined because of this situation.Also, make sure you give yourself plenty of time to return the car. Their shuttle service doesn’t come as often as they advertise. We had to take an Uber to the airport.
Shuttled to rental site from PR airport! Courtesy staff! Car rental staff was great & informative, but did fail to tell me that I would drop it off next door to that pickup office! Shuttle service took me to airport after drop off! I suggest “full coverage “ that includes unlimited “tolls”, because, toll roads popped up every so often during, exploring the island & didn’t have to worry about how to pay for them! And, due to earthquake & hurricane’s, there are many potholes, all sizes, in the roads & many couldn’t be avoided! All in all, excellent car rental package, through Priceline! Would rent from them again!
Wait time is 2 hours plus. And another hour waiting for them to retrieve the car. You better off taking a taxi. Slowest service on the entire planet. Car is not ready, shuttle wasn’t ready. Did I mention service is slower than a turtle. Yes it’s cheap but not worth the slowest service on the planet it will drive you nuts.Also they waited for us to arrive to wash the car. So there are lots of angry customers all waiting for their cars to be washed. A bunch of ding bats work here. They really don’t care about the customers. Please stop giving this company your business. They talk over you, around you as if your incompetent, and it’s no their fault that they have the worst car rental service ever!!!!
My family and I recently rented a minivan from there this last week through carrentals.com and since it was on there we thought there wouldn’t be a problem. We thought wrong.First off, our flight got changed from arriving at 9:30 PM to arriving at 2:30 AM. Not the car rentals fault, but because of that we had to wait because NU car rental was closed from 12 AM to 5 am. So we waited 2 hours and a half at the airport.Second, we get picked up by the transport van and everything smooth with that but the moment we get there they try to tell us that our minivan was given away even after we called to let them know our flight was delayed... The employee then went to check for himself and found a minivan available. Between all the paperwork and stuff it took us a little over 45 minutes to get the minivan.After that, it all seemed to work out but after a couple of hours, everything changed. We realized that the van was infested with cockroaches. When I say infested, I mean, INFESTED. Everyday we killed at least 10 midsized cockroaches and it was truly disgusting. Every time I stepped in the car I was paranoid those things were crawling on me. They were everywhere and they didn’t seem to end. We even bought a can of Raid and would spray the car every night and the next day there seemed to be more and more of them.Literally worst car rental experience I’ve had. Please fix your roach infestation problem. Also here are some pictures of tiny dead roaches after spraying raid the night before.
I had no issues with this rental car agency. Getting the car took a little long but it wasn’t unreasonable compared to other car rental places. The staff was nice, the car was in good condition, and drop off was incredibly easy. Note that this agency is not located at the airport but instead, you need to call them upon your arrival and they will pick you up in their shuttle to bring you to their location. Also of note, they added a $100 charge for tolls which is why I’m giving them a 4 and not a 5…I wish this had been disclosed when I made the reservation.
The staff was pleasant and very helpful once I arrived. A few issues……. It wasn’t clear that they were not at the airport. I had to call to find out that a shuttle comes every 10 min to the airport. Once we arrived, although the staff were nice the car was not ready. I got there after my reservation time so I would have expected the process to be a bit shorter.
I gave 4 stars because there is room for improvement. Retrieving the car was a very slow process but returning the car was very pleasant. Im sure they can improve the service. I probably will rent from this place again.
Great place to rent a car while in Puerto Rico. They were really nice and helpful on tips. But Beware if you are are going through Expedia and you do the insurance $11 A-day it is not accepted here in Puerto Rico. I ended up having to pay it again here and its not full coverage its only for accidents. Also just so u know you may not get the car you Reserve. I didnt really mind I like the car Im renting. Its perfect for driving in Puerto Rico.
This place rocks! They hooked me up with a nice car for a decent price when absolutely nothing else was available anywhere upon my arrival to Puerto Rico, including the car I had confirmed at another location. They even shuttled us to and from the airport for free.
The worst experience ever. Like what others are saying.... the car is not ready at registered pick up time. We waited for almost 2 hours. They did not pick us up at the registered time (6:00am) at the airport so we called the number that was given at the reservation (we reserved from hot wire) but when I called it said our office is currently closed So I google searched and found the completely different phone number. Even after we called, the pick-up shuttle did not come for a while so I called 2 times but they just hang up on me. They took about half an hour to pick us up at the airport.The check-in also took like half an hour but the car was also not ready after the check-in because they had to clean and take a video. We registered and paid for 6:00am... and we got the car around 7:50am. Why do they start cleaning after we check-in? No apologies at all for being late. Very rude and horrible services.I also wish that they have explained about the toll road and toll sticker. We only found out about it when we returned the car, and also we got a phone call after coming home only to find out we had to pay the violation fee. Please stay away from this company.
I was VERY Hesitant to rent here but I’m glad I did. Super friendly and I able to use my own insurance. Only reason it wasn’t a 5 star.. shuttle was kinda crazy and it took a little to get my car but that’s just me being inpatient. Again I would definitely rent again
I was really skeptical after read all reviews. But from my experience everything went smoothly. Today (07/01) we came at 8:07am and left the office on the car at 8:19am. Even we got upgraded car without extra pay. I’ll keep you update when we’ll return the car!
Made a reservation. Waited in line for 3 hours outside under Hot sun with my child. Horrible conditions. Eventually had to rent car from the neighboring car rental. They still charged me $500. They stole my money! Do not trust them. Just rent your car from reputable car rental.
DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT RENT A BICYCLE FROM THIS RENTAL PLACE. A rented a mini van and during the late night drive to the hotel, my children were killing cockroachs. During this pandemic.....this is how they clean and sanitize the cars they rent. They put our families at risk. Oh, they changed me a full day $183. I hope this helps with your future plans.
This is an off-site rental company. Be prepared for long waits for pickup at airport, counter lines at rental office and add on items at the counter for insurance (even if you have prepaid for insurance when doing on line booking) and other company policy things. Only increased price $75 but the process just left me with bad opinion compared to a normal rental.
I am extremely disappointed with this company. We purchased a rental for 6/23-6/28. Pickup time was scheduled for 11 pm. They apparently closed at 11. I dont know why they allowed Hotwire to offer this time. After we paid for a taxi to go from airport to hotel and then hotel to car rental facility the next day, we were told no rentals were available. The option they provided was a partner shop located on property (shouldve been a warning).We were forced to pay double for a rental. This is very poor business etiquette.
The car rental went without issue but this was by far the slowest operation wed seen.None of the staff were slacking off per se but it took us and everyone in front of us in the line around 1.5 hr of wait time to get the car. We were waiting outside the building under the scorching sun and it took a good 15m for the line to move one person forward. The return wasnt speedy either.
Waited an hour to get my car but the people who work there are very nice. The car was nice and they didnt try to rip me off on anything. The drop off went well and the shuttle got me to the airport on time. Not my first choice but its a decent place to rent a car.
Rented a car with nu car rentals with no issues until my 200 dollar deposit was never refunded after returning vehicle. I was told 3 to 5 business days after returning vehicle. After a month of not receiving my deposit I called nu car rentals and they basically blamed my bank which has nothing to do with it being they were the ones who charged my card. Long story short I opened a dispute with my bank and got my money. Bad customer service on nu car rentals I will not be a returning customer. Renter beware.
The price was great and the car was in excellent conditions and clean. We suggest the shuttle be identified with the companys name. Also, we had to wait one hour for the car to be ready.
They deceptively try to make you purchase their Insurance for their clapped out car. They also have crazy strict covid protocols but will try to give you a car with old dirty face masks in it.
Do not rent a car from here. Pay extra and get it from one of the major brands at the airport. They hung up on me when I said I spoke English- just trying to confirm a shuttle ride. Car not ready at registered pick up time. Two hour wait time. Promising cars they don’t have. Also, they don’t tell you the pick up is at a different location. You get to airport then they shuttle you to rental facility. 2 chairs to sit in outside waiting area. No apologies. Rude service.
We had to wait 2 hours to get our car. Then we had to pay an extra $40 per day for insurance we didn’t need! Supposedly because our car at home was older than 2015. Yeah right, what a scam! I verified with my insurance that they would cover the rental car just like mine at home. I guess you have to be a total jerk to get them to take off the insurance but BEWARE THE FINE PRINT!!
These people will rob you blind and give you a rental that has just been in a accident. They have 0 customer service skills and will hit you with hidden fees when dropping off the car. I was shocked at the way the handle business here. DONT DO IT! RENT ANYWHERE ELSE. Wish I would have checked those reviews before giving these people my business. Save yourself the money and stress. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - cars roach infested and awful service.We arrived with my group of friends to this beautiful Island and unfortunately had to receive the worst customer service ever from one if the employees, Adrian. We rented a big car and they didn’t give us the correct one saying even though we made a reservation far in advance. They said they were too packed. While we were driving, there were a bunch of roaches inside the car with other insects and we were unable to use the car with peace of mind. After coming back they gave us another car, however this time, it reaked of Marijuana. When calling customer service, they hung up on us several times and didn’t give us the chance to make our claim.
Always remember if you get a car here on a package deal youll have to pay insurance fees in person. Other than that theyre professional, trustworthy and the cars they offer are in amazing shape. Great customer service. Very affordable.
Rented a SUV and they gave me a Jeep Wrangler. I was able to use my car insurance policy which was great. They do hold a $250.00 hold on your card but I expected that as I carefully read additional fees on Expedia and called to confirm and they answered my call right away. Jeep was clean, staff was friendly. Will definitely rent again.
Don’t rent from here unless you want an AWFUL EXPERIENCE.We had to wait 4 hours to get the car and on top of that it was not the one we reserved. Our car was full of insects crawling around. When we called, it took several attempts since the phone was not answered and the employees are super rude. We weren’t able to make our claim because they HUNG UP ON US!!!! We went in person to switch cars and they have us one that was infested with Marijuana. Avoid this company, they are not you’re money’s worth. Worst part of the trip.
Seriously the worst experience renting a car I have ever had in my life...and I have rented cars in some undesirable locations that are notorious for scams. Shuttle took forever from the airport, and I was told I could take an uber and be reimbursed at the counter. I provided the uber receipt and was assured I would receive a credit, but to this day I have still not received it and the rental location now says they have no record of it. It took over 2 hours for me to get my car once I checked in. They were meticulous about taking photos and video of the car, which signaled to me that they probably scam plenty of people regularly, so I was sure to make my own video and take my own photos. I was also charged nearly $42 for use of the toll sticker and was told by the agent that any applicable tolls would be taken out of the amount and the rest would be credited back to me. I still have not received a credit, and now the rental company states this is a nonrefundable charge. I have been renting cars on Puerto Rico for more than 10 years and I have never had such a tremendously awful rental car experience. This center is run by incompetent scam artists and their employees are lazy and have no interest in providing anything close to good customer service. Stay far away from this place! You have been warned.
Very very slow, beyond Caribbean slow. Suggest renting from a company at the airport. Their staff is very nice, but it simply shouldn’t take hours to rent a car and 30 min to return, then wait 30 more for a shuttle. It’s the travel business!
I paid for a car and they rented it to someone else. I was left using taxis and car share to get around on vacation in Puerto Rico. It ended up being very expensive. Then I couldn’t get my money back so I contacted my bank and disputed the charge and got it that way. I will never use NU car rental in any state, even if it’s the cheapest option, its not worth it.
Despite having a reservation I waited over two hours for the car we reserved and had an appointment. Company doesn’t accept insurance through Expedia even though they advertise that they do. This place has lots of hidden fees. This company feels very much like a scam. I do not recommend this place. A person should only rent a car from this place if you want a frustratingly horrific experience.

DONT NOT RENT A CAR FROM HERE. My boyfriend and I were never given our refundable deposit back for the car. We brought the car back the way it was with a filled tank. They tried to blame damages on us that were already on the car prior to us getting it.Before you drive off in the rental, one of their workers walks around the whole car and take a video and pictures of all of the damages and write up a report. The guy who took our video clearly tried to skip over the head light which was busted in the corner and get it out of camera view but he failed because for one quick second you can still see it in the video. So we have proof!It’s so hard to reach someone at customer service and they keep saying they will call us back when we finally do Now I am to the point where I am going to have to escalate matters to my legal team. It’s really annoying because all we want is our deposit back.
Forced me to buy collision insurance even though my card already provides it. They refused to give me the car without the collision waiver. Ive never had another rental company do this.

This has been one of the worst experiences renting a car. We waited 3 hours for our rental and then were told our 3rd party insurance was not valid and we were made to purchase theirs. Despite getting us the rental at 7:30 they charged us for a full day of insurance. Customer service was not the greatest and I’ll definitely avoid this place next time I come.

This was the worst car rental experience I have ever had in my life. The rental place closed at 11:30 and our flight was late in arriving, so we couldnt pick up until the next day. We waited for our car for 2 hours, and then they did nothing but extend our rental for 3 measly hours. No Uber reimbursement, no better extension, nothing. So instead of the 2 full days of rental we were promised, we got 1.5 days, plus had extra expenses. I will NEVER use this rental place again and will not recommend it to anyone. In fact, I will actively speak out against it.
Liked our little crossover for the island, did not appreciate being charged $60 for a cleaning fee upon my return and all of the other hidden charges. Customer service seriously lacking on the drop off. In the end much more expensive than anticipating

They charged me 1,200+ for a 33,000 mile, and cigarette smelling car. I had made a reservation way ahead of time and they kept me waiting for more than an hour in the sun, not only did they keep me waiting but the car didnt have a full tank and was in need of some serious tuning, and then they completly forgot i was even waiting for the car to be brought out. I would rather walk than ever order from this company ever again. Worst decision!!

I would give 0 stars if that was an option. I rented a Jeep Wrangler from this establishment for a weekend. Less than a hour after leaving the lot, a roach crawled up my passengers leg in the vehicle. This was very disturbing, but we brushed it off. Little did we know, this wouldnt be the last roach. While driving to the rain forest, 2 roaches were found crawling on passengers in the jeep. Then we killed three additional roaches (not including the baby roaches) in the car. I booked NU Rentals through Expedia. As I drove the rental I noticed that it was unsanitary and roach infested. I contacted the rental agent after hours to return the rental a day early. The agent would not give me a refund and instructed me to callNU to settle my refund. Poor customer experience! I do not recommend.

Dont go here. Scam central.Easily the worst car rental experience Ive had counting car rentals on 5 continents. They also tried to have me pay $500 for an imperceptible scratch, after the car had engine trouble on the highway before our contract was over. The car would not accelerate unless we were going down hill. We had to pull over to the side of the road. Called to explain and they said to bring the car in. When we arrived, they wanted to charge a premium for the gas, and also $500 for an imperceptible scratch. There are so many clients that complained in different reviews about unethical business practices here and these complaints are right in line with the way we were treated. I wish I had read the reviews first before the rental.

Horrible experience i prepaid for the car when i got there they wanted another 400...fine i paid it supposedly for a deposit....that was to be returned upon drop off of the car...here i am 2 weeks later still trying to get that 400 back and every time i call and they hear english they hang up...also no corporate phone number....such a scam...i just paid 1000 for a car i was promised but didnt get...NEVER rent from them u will regret it and the cat smelled like cat urine...if i could give negative stars i would...also the people who work there are rude as hell
Slower than molasses. The van took 40 minutes to pick me up. Only one person working the desk and answering the phone at the same time. She was awesome but because she is the only one it takes about 25 minutes just to sign paperwork. Then one has to wait for the car to be brought out by an employee and have a guy inspect it takes almost just as long as signing the paperwork. 2 hours just on this ordeal. The car was so filthy. It was disgusting. NEVER AGAIN!
I will never rent a car from them. You can tell they are just ripping people off. Gave me a scratched car and claimed we made the scratches but I had taken pictures so they are wrong. Further they wouldnt accept Expedias insurance, they also over charged us. I had returned the car early and didnt refund me for the remainder days, on top barely one either of gas not in the tank ao they charged me $10 for that too. Avoid a headache and a bad vacation rent ahead at the airport what I will do next.

Pros• The car was very CLEAN and DISINFECTED.• Staff was courteous and appeared to be working hard to keep things moving.• Paperwork and payment was fast and simple.• They followed the covid-19 protocolsCons• not much seating• It took a while to get the car (there were 3 people ahead of me, it took over an hour)• it was a longish standing wait outdoors.I watched them disinfecting each car that came in. They had a power mist machine to spray clouds of disinfectant mist into the cars. It was thorough.Ill go back to them again, next time Ill just bring a lawn chair.
Good price and car as expected, the customer service at the desk need to be more friendly. Also dont forfeit the insurance when making the reservation because you will have to pay for it when picking the car and it will be more expensive. They dont make this clear at the reservation site. Overall is economic is that your main concern.
The only thing they do quickly there is charge you for insurance, having my own they would not allow. So they charge you extra then try to talk you into ezpass. Anything to up charge you . Not friendly worse experience ever save yourself the headache go elsewhere. If I could give them a negative I would.
Car had a used mask inside passenger door handle and garbage in back seat. Also will force you to get their insurance even if you have your own. Not worth the bargain.

Horrible service. Car broke down after 15 minutes of driving and had to wait almost 2 hours to get towed after having help from police officers. After getting back to the rental location we had to get back in line and start the process all over again at the back of the line.
When I picked up the car it was a great experience, when I returned the car it was not. My battery died due to leaving it on Drive and all it need was a jump. The company did not say you need a jump from a jeep or a truck. They had me toll it and that was 250 dollars. If they would have explained that I could not use a up box or a regular car I would have told the toll drive to give me a jump and only paid 70 dollars. Once they had the car they jump it and put it to was for the next customer and charged me 250 for the toll 53 for gas and 67 for rental. I wish they would have been honest and explained it to me. They did not care they had my cc on file. They where worried that customers were looking at the toll truck.

The service is here is horrible. We’ve waited 1 hour for the van that my family rented to be brought out to us . People have arrived after my family and I and have received their rentals are long gone. We have been completely ignored. Do not rent from this place. We are currently still waiting on the van rental.

The company manager locked the door and took my credit card because there was $16 less of a petrol . I had to call the police on these people . Watch yourself they give you wrong address for drop of . The address listed on google is not right . These guys need a lawsuit .

My wife and I booked a car with NU for our week-long trip in PR in January without reading the reviews on Google. We were absolutely terrified after making our reservation and reading these reviews. However, we had a pretty good experience with the folks at the desk - they were friendly, quick and thorough. The car was great and had no issues during the trip. Returning the car to the rental location was also a breeze, and the shuttle service was pretty good as well. I think their airport shuttle runs less frequently than other major rental car companies, though that makes sense since they do offer some of the most competitive rates for car rentals in PR
This deserves 0 stars. I booked my car a specific time and arrived on time to wait 2 .5 hours to receive my car. They overbook reservations over their actual car availability. When I requested a refund for the unused hours they deny it stating my payment is based on the reservation not usuage.

Arrived to return the car at noon in advance of a 2 pm flight. 40 minutes later and I’m still in My car waiting in line just to drop the car off. I was going to leave the keys in the car but the driver of their airport shuttle would not let me on. Either they need more staff or need to figure out a more efficient return system. Cars are backed up behind me in the street. Picking the rental up was not much better. I would not rent here unless you have absolutely nothing better to do with your time than wait around.
Expect to wait 2 hours for your car pick up and return. It’s a total mess and not worth any savings!
Processed me fast, but didnt turn out to be for the price I booked in the States. It went from $99. to $509. +$250. I am not satisfied.
Friend just rented..BS fees added without knowledge. Tire and rim fees ? Tried 2 charge twice for tolls, etc.....he called and they hung up on him.
We rented a car on vacation here. Michelle helped us and she was AMAZING!! We didn’t have all of the paperwork we needed for insurance- She took the time to help us out and led us through the the entire process. She even upgraded our car! We ended up getting to drive an amazing vehicle. She was incredibly understanding and helpful. We had a great experience here and would come back if we ever had the chance.
Good service, but VERY slow service. Long wait, long car prep time.
