We rented a car from this local company. They are off the airport but only a few minutes away and the shuttle transport is fast and easy. The young lady at the counter (Sully) treated us professionally and was clear in all the instructions and charges. I got a small Hyuandai Accent, a few scratches but the car was clean inside and we had no issues driving to a lot of places in the Island. Definitely recommend this place. They do not allow using your own insurance unless vehicle is 2016 or newer. That information isnt anywhere in the initial registration. They tell you when you pick up rental. Not good. False advertisement! Not even in fine print!

Went to website: No compacts no economy available to rent for a week. Called main number miltiple times got transferred to the Carolina location. Nobody answered and no option to leave a message. This is the inefficient system to rent a car in Cabrera. Image the possible surprise I can encounter when arriving to Carolina to pick up a rental car. Is not worth to try it. Shame!😞
Their units are great.. price was super for seven days..Incoming customer service was very low.. the lady had an attitude..Now, coming back the the lady was spectacular..
The cars are inexpensive. Decent selection. We had a Nissan Versa (hand locks, hand crank windows, cloth seats, etc) for less than $10/day. Deposit was $500 though. The establishment seemed a bit bleak, but it was almost closing time. You must have your insurance declaration page (not just the card).
Absolutely the WORST. Booked on Expedia under Economy Car Rental (an established national company. Get there and its Cabrera.They didnt accept our vehicle policy despite having 9 vehicles and full coverage. They had us buy a policy through Expedia for $11 a day only to be told they dont accept Expedia insurance. They charged us $20 a day on top of the initial rental fee the $11 a day with Expedia and then added one $500 deposit and $53 in fees. The woman was nasty and rude. Laughedthat I couldnt read the literature, policies or contract which was entirely in Spanish. Then declaredshedidnt have a minivans we had reserved, have us a smaller car and told us if we had any sand in it she would charge us $250.When we returned the car, she added the tolls, refusing to show me a list of the actual charges and tacked on $82 .Worst rental place ever.I lived in PR and this is not the way most places do business, taking advantage of others.
The worst experience. I returned my rented vehicle on July 20, 2020 and still have not received my $500 deposit/hold its been almost 60 days. I have been calling and left several messages and still have yet to receive a call back or a refund. I will be getting my credit card company involved.

The most horrible experience I have ever received from a car rental place. First off, the attitudes of the women who work here are not very customer friendly or welcoming. Secondly, there are hidden fees everywhere. They trick you by giving you a super nice price online but once you come in, it’s a different story. A charge for the AC.. ‘administrative fee?? I understand there are taxes but it seems like these people make up extra fees. And don’t expect an explanation of the charges.. we asked and the only response we received was ‘everything is on the paper’. Wow. I don’t understand where all the 5 star reviews come from?? I’m not picky at all and I’m usually very lenient when giving reviews but seriously this was very poor customer service not to mention they could use upgrades in their vehicles. Next time in Puerto Rico I’ll make sure to stick with Hertz or even Enterprise instead of this place.
The worst car rental experience of my life. Theyre a bunch of con-artists trying to rip you off. I would give ZERO STARS if I could. The front counter woman Lizzy was very disrespectful and started yelling at me. She took over 30 minutes to ring up my order, and was chatting on her cellphone for at least 20 of those minutes. I had to cancel my reservation and walk out of the place. You dont want to do business with these banditos.
The young woman who worked with me lied about mandatory car insurance, saying that my current car insurance was not good enough coverage. I’m sure she is working for commissions. I speak English and she handed me paperwork in Spanish at the time to back up her statement. A co-worker stood nearby condoning this behavior. When I came to drop the car off, she gave me a receipt with insurance that cost $4 more per day than what she initially quoted me. On the final paperwork, I noticed that customers are given a chance to accept or decline coverage. Of course, I was on the plane at this point. I hate getting lied to. I do not recommend going here at all.
Great rental company its smaller than the big companies waited about 30 minutes for their shuttle bus but am on vacation didnt mind the wait but their service was excellent and the price was unbelievably definitely going to rent from them again
Our company worked with Cabrera Rental during the Hurricane Maria recovery event, all locations and personnel were extremely helpful and pleasant.We worked with personnel from 3 different locations all with excellent services and communication. They were very accommodating and worked well with our many schedule changes and vehicle needs.Cabrera was recommended to us by a former co-worker and I cannot say enough good things about this company and its employees!
I wish there were more stars to give. Unlike the headaches from other car rental agencies, Cabrera Car and Truck Rental had cars available on the spot, the car I wanted and had excellent customer service. Havent had an experience like that in a while. Definitely the place to go.

Very expensive considering the very low quality and poor maintenance of cars. Slow and inefficient customer service, and will try to add hidden fees for the smallest details... a rental car is a must to enjoy the island but I would avoid this place.
The company is the worst. Went we came out in the morning there was a flat and we needed to go to a burial of my mother in law. There was no spare and roadside assistance would take over an hour. And would of missed the closing of the casket... we try to get it resolved with getting a quick replacement van but they told us we had to go to their exclusive shop. So I drove about 5 miles on the flat to the shop to get a new tireThe van also had wobbly brakes. The van shook as we were slowing down.

I had to call to be picked up at airport. When the shuttle arrived, the driver and customer sorted out via phone if they were clients or not from this company, with a 15-20 delay for 5 other people. We witnessed, at the counter another couple fighting over a cancelled reservation, hidden and holding fees, eventually walked out. We ended up paying rental fee, insurance from internet company, additional mandatory rental car company insurance and $500 hold on the credit card. I would not recommend using them, bad experience. (They go under the name Economy, as well). Either they change their terms with internet company or stop servicing them, by continuing their current agreement it makes them a witness to hidden fees, which are not stated to the customer, creating an unpleasant experience to all.

In one trip I had so many issues with Fox/Cabrera auto rental. 1st car they gave me the tires were so bald one starting peeling away and blew on the highway. I waited nearly 2hrs for roadside assistance to come, only to be told I had canceled services. Which was entirely a lie and was only told of the cancellation due to me calling for updates on service. I was in a very bad area of ponce at the time and it was getting dark, while parked in a abandoned gas station.after another hour road side came. The next morning I woke up to another tire being flat. Called road side again waited 3 hours for a tow because there was no longer a spare tire to use. Was then told the car and myself would have to be towed to a town 1 hour away where I had to spend another couple of hours for the company to switch cars. The car that was given to me had an extremely bad smell. Had to drive almost 2 hours in traffic back to our vacation rental. After driving for a while we noticed a very bad oil burning smell when ever we put on the air conditioner. Going up hill the car stalled and we needed to use the emergency brake to stop from rolling backwards. Final draw is when we were going down hill. The brakes totally went out applied the brakes the car kept sliding pulled the emergency brake just before the car stopped at the edge of a cliff the front end of the car hit the edge of a cliff so hard the front bumper came off as I reversed. In the car was myself and my two young daughters we could have been killed. All because Fox/ Caberera Car rental rents faulty poorly maintained vehicles. The lack of customer service support is horrible. And now Im sitting in the rental office waiting on a police offigce for a report that is required but was not required when I called the issue in to the office. However, no one at any non-emergency call speaks English and all they kept doing was hanging up on me.. It is 3:36 my flight is at 5pm and it looks like they will now make me miss my flight home. This is the worst car rental I have ever experienced not to mention it almost cost us our lives. I will never use their services again I hope no other family has to deal with such a headache and life ending scare. I rented in Puerto Rico from the Fox/Cabrera in aguadilla and the other was in Carolina by San Juan. So the blame is spread across the company.
Even if your flight is late, They only hold your car for 30 minutes before they cancel it. Your reservation can actually be cancelled while you are waiting in line.
