Great place to go to and exercise. Great choice of equipment and classes to choose from! Staff friendly & helpful.
I took a water class today, both the instructor (Debbie C)and the class was great. Everyone there was very helpful and really made me feel welcomed.
I sent a letter back in September to ask to cancel my membership and they still charged me for 2 more months. I have asked Kris to look into this and he says he submitted my payment to Linda. I have called numerous times, have sent emails and spoke to them in person in February and still no refund. I know that if I owed them money, they would be coming after me. I guess I should just put this money down as lost or donation.
If youre considering Healthtrax as a gym I suggest you turn around a run. This gym was okay at best while I was using it but the real nightmare came when I cancled my membership. You see, I thought everything was fine when I cancled. I filled out the paperwork, I spoke to the appropriate people, should be over right? Wrong. Months later I started getting charged again for a membership I already cancled. No big deal, mistakes happen, Ill just let them know.Well they flat out refused to even considering refunding me the money the just took from me, told me my membership was canceled, and never responded to me again.Until a few months later when I noticed they had CONTINUED to take money from me. Now I have finally gotten them to agree to a refund, and theyre keeping two months of fees! For something they messed up! TWICE!To make a long story short, take your money and run as far as you can from Healthtrax.
Silver Sneakers was a very good place to start.
I just moved to the area and joined the gym at the beginning of this month. I am 8 months pregnant and the pool is the only physical relief and exercise I am able to safely do at the moment. Being a high-risk pregnancy at the height of cold and flu season I attempted to come to the pool during adult swim time for the safest option. At 8:40 there was still a young girl (who was coughing every time she came up from a lap) in the pool with her mother. I went to the front desk to double-check that I had the adult swim time correct. I returned and politely explained to the woman that it was adult swim from 8:30-9:45 towhich she replied ‘no’ and refused to get her out of the pool. Another 3 young boys came into the pool at this time. Frustrated as I had waited all day for the appropriate time to come find some relief from my physical pain, I walked back out to the front desk where the employee explained he was still waiting for coverage to be able to get to the pool area. When he finally came in, the men with the boys began raising their voices and also refused to get out of the pool; one man even began yelling directly at me. At this point I was brought to tears; I had been waiting all day for 8:30 to go swimming. I pay as much as everyone else for a monthly membership and am only able to use one small area of the gym during one limited time each day. To be refused what was offered to me when I signed up, while being yelled at by another customer, and then to have the Healthtrax employee do nothing to fix the situation or enforce the adult swim (he left the 3 adults and 4 children in the pool at 9pm so I had nowhere to swim and went home) - extremely poor management and customer service. I’m upset and disappointed as this is the only pool available in the area so I am unsure what else I will be able to do to maintain physical activity and comfort for the remainder of my pregnancy.
Healthtrax is very clean, programs are very helpful in keeping with fitness, employees and instructors are very helpful and pleasant. I highly recommend Healthtrax Bristol.
Be careful with all new policies, they are in place to scam you during this pandemic, you wont be able to pause your service with out a fee, even tho the company cant guaranty a good and safe service ...
I tried 4 other local-to-Bristol gyms, and I keep coming back here. I love that the trainers arent pushy - they let me do my thing and leave without a hassle. I havent been solicited to try training since I moved to this location- and for that I am grateful! The woman at the front desk in the early morning is always pleasant. It seems theyre slowly updating the facility, which is nice. A few suggestions : add a (huge) rock wall, theater, pool, open at 4am (or 24 hour access would be nice).
Poor in comparison to Avon. Along with other facilities, and unfit trainers, old equipment, in general a terrible gym. No need for prison style showers, small smelly sauna, and not co-ed. Could use more than just a paint job, which is apparently all theyre planning. For what we pay we deserve Avon level or better.
My primary membership is with a different Healthtrax. I go to the Bristol Healthtrax on occasion because of its proximity. I have to say, in comparison to other Healthtrax locations, that this location is not as well kept. Im not sure what it is but the dim lighting and slightly grungy old floors and furniture make it pale in comparison to the other Healthtrax locations. This might sound trivial but for the cost of membership I think this is relevant to consider. The hot tub was lukewarm last time and there were two teenagers that deliberately broke a sink in the locker room. I appreciated that the manager addressed this matter directly and forced them to leave the premises. On the plus side the pool is usually a nice experience and not crowded when I need to swim laps.I cant speak to all parts of the gym as I havent tried them all out.Despite some of the negative qualities of this specific Healthtrax location I would still continue to use it and would not deter anyone from going.
This is a great place for a family membership. Theres something for every age, and family member. They have a gym, basketball court, racket ball courts, and a pool.
I had no idea this place was here until I met a woman in the parking lot here to buy something that I liked off of Craigslist. It is not well lit at night it is down one of those types of roads that you think are only homes, I had no sign of available till me until I was on top of it, and I would absolutely lock your car here. If I were up to no good I would totally Rob peoples places here.
We have a membership here mostly use the pool, hot tub and sauna.I would like it if they cleaned the bottom of the whirlpool more oftenStaff is polite/accommodatingClean bathrooms**just remodeled the shower/changing area in the pool area**new drink vending machineThey Need a new snack machineNice racquet ball courtsStaff are very good at being available for help with equipment like if you dont know how to use it or etc.Its overall a nice gym
Nice place clean but no kids and teenagers locker rooms put them with adults and that does not seem right.
Clean and professional...therapists make it easy to navigate from station to station and felt they had my best interests and health needs taken care of = )
A great place to bring your kid to play basketball and swimming on cold days. Also has great workout equipment.
Most of the people there are pretty cool, but the manager, totally rude and disrespectful, he thinks he is the man and that he is better than everyone else. He practically banned me from there after all the money I spend at that place (which is completely overpriced by the way), he comes out to me and tells me I can’t come to the gym anymore. Whatever, I’ll just go to a nicer place with people who aren’t douches.Follow up: just went there, they recognized me and kicked me out even though I had money. Douchebags.
I have to disagree with the review by @punisher5616. The trainers are amazing. They are ALL well trained, educated, and genuinely care about their clients well being. I personally have worked with the so called dumpy, frumpy trainer in glasses (who is far from such) and she has literally been my life saver. Shes been able to work around my physical and emotional issues, and push me to always do better. She knows what shes doing with my body, and Ive lost 90lbs working with her! My strength has improved 10 fold from not being able to get off my own couch! Yes, the facilities look a little dated, but it has everything you need. I wouldnt dream of being at any other gym :-)
Great place.. family fun, work out, and, relaxing, all in one place. Love it. Great pool!!
Great place! Enough equipment (weights, treadmills, elliptical, bikes....etc) for everyone. Plus many classes, pool, court and racket ball.
Its a night mare trying to make an appointment, apparently the phone system or phone service is so old that they cant hear me and the old computer system wont let me schedule for 2 parts of my injured body part. Ive been hung up on 2 separate occasions.
Very friendly and helpful, good services and equipment, plus pool, etc.
Always great people there ready to help get you back on track.
Family oriented, child care, plenty of open swim and court time. Nice pool, locker rooms are big .. recommended!
Great facility. Friendly and attentive staff.
Great place been going there since 2004
My favorite gym. Friendly staff, great equipment, easy parking

I have been a member of Healthtrax for several years (in fact Ive going there since the 1980s when it was Bristol Health and Racquet). I love this family fitness center. The focus here is really on health and fitness with a comfortable, no judgement feel. It offers lots of classes, has a pool and lots of gym equipment. Some of the equipment needs repairs (i.e. several bikes in the spin room). The staff is very friendly and helpful. It is a bit higher priced compared to its local competitors ($40 for single membership) but with that price you can use any Healthtrax fitness center in the area (Avon, Newington, North Haven). Ive been to all four maor gyms in Bristol, and I feel with Healthtrax you get the most (and best feel) for your money!
AMAZING ownership that authentically cares about its employees.
Uhhhhhh, waaaayyyyy too overpriced! Dated & broken equipment to name a few of the vast issues. Most trainers look like professional fast food junkies. One particular trainer is the most rude and disrespectful people on the planet. Shes this dumpy, frumpy blonde that wears glasses. Dont waste your time with her, looks more like a Bon Bon rep counter than an actual weight trainer or whatever the hell she is. A few good trainers but if nots the crappy equipment, its the atmosphere. Place in general is more like a bridge club than a gym. Like a 100/mo. for a family for no apparent reason. Completely despise the place and will never set foot in it again frankly. I literally watched people who work there disregard the safety of young children training with the most dangerous form. As a personal trainer myself, I have helped them and taught them how to properly train. I even know women who left due to the owner being a complete sleaze. Dont waste a moment or penny on this dump. Join LA Fitness or anywhere but this gym.
Have a family plan and the old lady has harassed my son non-stop. So unprofessional and disrespectful.
