Update: Jim the owner personally reached out to me about my concerns and worked diligently to make it right. I must say, I am very impressed with how professional and nice everyone continued to be. He was able to pull in another electrician to get the work that needed to be done for me in a very timely fashion. Overall, I would recommend them and would use them again in the future if the need arises.I am so very disappointed with the follow up I received from this company. After reading all the positive reviews, I was confident I had found the right company to help with our “new-to-us” home. I called them 1.5 months ago and was told to put in a service request via the website and call the city to see what permits had been pulled on my house. I immediately did both. More than two weeks later, I had not received a call to schedule the work. I emailed Jim asking to have someone call me. A day later, I got a call from Shawn. He said he was booked through the middle of October. I told him that was fine and was just happy that someone called me to schedule a visit. He asked me to call him at the beginning of October to confirm his visit which I did. I called him again a week later when I had not received a response. Again, nothing. I feel fooled that I allowed this to go on for more than a month but as I stated before, I was confident that they would have been able to help me based on so many positive reviews.

Hats off to Schlemmer Electricians. All around great experience from first contact calling in a panic when a 3rd of our house was without electricity. The electrical panel we had was a federal pacific and know it would need to be replaced. Jim keep things calm and was able to swing by and take a look at things gave a great price on the panel install. Dan came out for the install was very professional even when having to wait on Excel energy to come and turn power off to the meter. As it seemded the meter lugs crumbled when the cables were removed when replacing the the breaker box. This meant the breaker box needed to be replaced as well. They quote a good price on the meter box as well. Got the meter box and breaker panel in and flipped breakers on and same breaker tripped as was with the old panel. This begin a trace of wires which Dan was once again very professional about even after a long day of the earlier work. Masterfully navigating from hallway lights to rooms to eventually finding a shorted out outlet. Fixed up the fried wires, put everything back together replacing wire nuts where needed and making it look pretty again. Very very happy would recommend to anyone. Will be calling Schlemmer to do more work in the future and recommending to anyone that asks or mentions electrical issues.I cannot thank your company enough.

We called Schlemmer Electricians to conduct a service call and check a breaker issue we were experiencing when running our dishwasher. They fit us in right away, quickly replaced an old breaker, and even took some extra time to quickly install a light switch and new ceiling light to replace a chain-pull light that had broken earlier that same day. I am a General Contractor and I needed a electrical inspection to move forward with a siding project. Jim, who didnt know me, said he qould see if anyone was available to help me the next day. He did his best to accommodate me that very moment. Obviously he just couldnt get someone that quickly but at least he tried. Helped me locate the problem that was casing the problem, needed to have the cooktop repaired. He didn’t come out unnecessarily or change me.

Lost power to HVAC. Called HVAC repair, they inspected and determined it was an electrical problem. Called Schlemmer Electric, explained the problem to Shawn Berktold. He had me take pictures of my electric panel and meter. He determined I had an outdated and out of code panel that was rusted which was causing the problem. My house panel was an unusual setup and required coordination with the power company. He handled all of that scheduled with me and the power company, came at the scheduled time, completed the job sooner than expected and for the amount quoted. I would recommend them to my friends and anyone else. Reasonable prices and good service.

Shawn was amazing! Showed up on time, very quickly diagnosed the issue (a loose connection on a light fixture I had recently installed) and even addressed a few issues with the breaker that were not necessarily up to code. Moved into a 51-year old house, went to update some of the switches and outlets, and got in over my head. Called around when I had two circuits that wouldnt come back up, nobody had any availability until I talked to Schlemmer Electricians. They squeezed me in by the end of that day and had everything taken care of within 90 minutes - one circuit was from a dimmer that was burned out, the other was from a mis-wired 3-way switch at the ceiling fixture (I swear, not my fault!). Total bill was $163, very reasonable considering time and materials spent, same-day service, and that half of our house had been without power for several days ;)Will definitely use again.2021 Edit: Schlemmers endorsement of Trump in the 2020 campaign was unfortunate for doing business with them in the future. Their continued endorsement of Trump and Back The Blue after the election, the run-up to the insurrection attempt on Jan 6th, and even after the insurrection was put down is beyond the pale. I will leave up this 5 star review for the work they performed in 2018 but I will never employ them again.

Dan was great. I originally called him on a holiday and he answered on the second ring. He pointed me to their website to get a booking number. He was out the next morning and had everything set up for our facility before i had my cup of coffee finished.

They worked around my schedule and completed the work without issue or incident. Not a trace of material was left on the floor. Additionally at my request after the job was complete ...He referred me to another company for an old furnace I had problems finding help with repairs. Eagle Mechanical fixed my furnace in a few hours time at very reasonable cost. Thanks to Jon who knows his trade. I highly recommend both companies if you need repairs or advice you will not get from most heating and cooling companies, seemingly not familiar with how to repair older equipment and only interested in selling new systems.

I called Schlemmer electric in the morning for a bid on updating electrical panel, new outlet, fixing kitchen fan and ceiling fan installation, Shawn came out that afternoon and we talked about what i wanted done, he also showed me some updates to bring us to code. He gave me a very fair estimate very close to what i was expecting from my online cost research and told me he would call back with a date and time, he called the next morning and he could come out on Friday at 8am. They arrived right at 8am and were finished b early afternoon, house was spotless. I will use them again in the future. Shawn is very knowledgeable and he and the other guys did a great job!!

The electrician provided a detailed explanation of the work to be done, and followed that up with a written quote. An appointment was scheduled and the work was done within the time frame provided. The electrician worked efficiently and paid attention to detail, including keeping the work area clean and organized.

What wouldve taken me 7 hours on a Saturday full of 4 letter words and frustration took Shawn 2 hours. I know its done right, and I felt like the price was reasonable.

I would never recommend schlemmer electric to anyone looking for fair and honest electricians. While selling our house, and trying to get an electric company to come out and sign off on the minneapolis housing safety inspection and do the necessary work to bring it up to code, they took the opportunity to take advantage of sellers in a vulnerable position. First and foremost they quoted us X amount of dollars to perform the work and ended up charging us three times, THREE times, the amount, without even so much as a call to let us know or approve the additional work that needed to be done. Installing overpriced smoke and fire detectors that were already up to code, installing GFI cables in unnecessary locations throughout the home and garage, installing equipment and charged for it without approval from the homeowner first, removed light bulbs and replacing with theirs, and charging us for it. After all was said and done, we had requested an explanation for certain work that was performed, and they were so unhelpful that all they ever said was, look up the codes yourself online because they were on a hunting trip. And FYI, checking the codes for minneapolis, none of the additonal work mentioned above, needed to be done. I hope someone in our position reads this and second guesses their choice in electrician to save themselves thousands of dollars.

We got some electric work done in December and had a very sad experience overall.The owner was not customer friendly.He was rude and not courteous.The work performed took half the time mentioned to us when we got the quote..The work was overestimated.They also had to redo the work because of ordering a part which was not available. When asked for just a break up of charges,the owner did not like that and was unprofessional over the phone.We would never recommend Schlemmer electricians to anyone.

Shawn showed up on time, disconnected the electrical and phone line from cubicle which was being discarded and also separated the furniture so Vendor disposing of the furniture didnt have to.
