This place has gone above and beyond for my cat. We take Her here and she’s special needs with FELV and some other health diagnoses. Dr. Moore, who unfortunately is no longer there, helped us with her diagnosis.They really care and every single vet I’ve talked to has taken the time to explain things on the phone during curbside dropoff for Covid (which is also super well organized here). Dr. Honeycutt is great too. The people who work here are all awesome and genuinely care about animals. They also thoroughly explain charges before they charge you anything for a procedure. It’s been really easy to schedule appointments and bloodwork with them the past year. Can’t thank them enough. Seriously, go here.

This is the vet I’ve been looking for since I moved to Austin 11 years ago! I’ve tried several in the city that ended up not being for me and my dogs so I decided to give these guys a try and I am not disappointed! Everyone that works here is genuinely super nice and friendly (which is really important to me). The vets go over everything with you and they actually listen to you when you have questions and concerns. You never feel like they are rushing through your appointment. They have never pushed anything unnecessary on me and have always been willing to try and work with my budget. I highly recommend this vet!

I highly recommend this place. Its not a cold in and out hospital but rather a warm and welcoming place. No dog likes the vet, but what I find most reassuring is the doctors are very gentle and always do their best to make sure the process is as painless as possible for the animal. The doctors are thorough and always discuss whats best for your dog and not just what will make them the most money. They are also dog owners themselves and have been through it all. So not only are they professionally trained but also speak from their personal experience. I have never been given any bad advice. Im so happy I have a place to take my pup when shes not feeling well. They always know what to do to make her feel better.

Lake Austin Animal Hospital is by far the best animal clinic in Austin. Ive been a client of several and they dont measure up. More specifically, I like their attention to detail and the concern they show my pets. Keep up the great work. Highly recommend.

Ive been taking my dogs to LABAH since around 2011 and couldnt be happier with the care theyve received. They are a bit pricier that other vets in town, but they will never charge for something that isnt needed and your pet will receive the best possible care.

I can’t say enough good things about LABAH. I have been there several times in the past few months and the service has been incredible every time. The whole team is always friendly and helpful. Dr. Moore is very thorough and knowledgeable. When I had an emergency with my dog, they were able to take her in right away and give her the care she needed. I love this place and am so so thankful for all that they’ve done for me and and my pup!

Not a good experience. We consulted over the phone that the estimated price for kitten spay is around $200-300 but turned out to be over $800. Besides, the doctor refused to see us in person and we have no idea what’s happening inside with our pet.

Everyone that helped me was super nice and reassuring when I was worried about my cat! The vet was awesome she talked us thru everything that could be going on with my cats inflamed eye, and with the treatment they offered he was back to normal in a couple days. They even called three days after the appointment to check on him :) great service, best vet I’ve been to in Austin!

Ive only had awesome experiences here. Everyone is super friendly, the vets all go in-depth with me after the visit and explain everything really well. They may not be the cheapest but I feel its reasonable and I think they really care about my dog.

We are fairly new to Austin and I am so thankful to have found Lake Austin Blvd Animal Hospital. I love this vet clinic. All of there staff are very friendly and personable. The Vets and Vet techs have great bed side manner. They intently listened to my concerns about my dog and provided much needed information for her treatment. The Vet techs are very patient and calm. Wonderful clinic!

I cannot say enough great things about the team here. I recently started bringing my animals here after my dog was not improving with treatment from a different vet. Within the first ten minutes of the appointment Dr.Moore pinpointed the issue and two others that were overlooked by the previous clinic, discussed the best game plan and sent follow up information for me via email. What had been a 5+weeks issue at the other clinic was improved after the first visit here!! The staff was so patient with my pup with his anxiety and took the time to make sure I felt comfortable with each step of treatment, no matter how many questions I had. We had Dr.Honeycutt for some of the follow up appointments and she is SO fantastic as well. Highly recommend!!

I honestly cant say enough wonderful things about this place. The people who answer the phone are so kind and patient. I had a pet emergency and they were able to get me in and answer all my questions and concerns over the phone (because I couldnt go in with him). They follow-up on your animal after the appointment to make sure everything is going well and have been incredibly patient with me as I fumble with my dogs meds. Not only that, but it was one of the more affordable hospitals in the area. I have to pass by 2 vet hospitals to get to this one, but its worth the extra 15 minute drive.

Please avoid going here, esp. if your pet has a complex medical condition (i.e., FIV+). My pet had a missed diagnosis, which if found earlier, may have extended his life.I was not going to write this review because I know LABAH will reply with a defense blaming me as a pet owner and attacking me or they will cite that my cats immune system was compromised from his FIV+ and blame my dead cat. Please do not go here to avoid the pain that my family has dealt with:I took my FIV+ cat, Tony, here for the four years that I owned him after adopting him from APA. I had been happy with their care, overall. The doctors are well-intentioned, however, unfit for complex cases. Three years ago they diagnosed Tony with asthma, on top of his FIV+. Tony, this year, started having issues that seemed to be his asthma in March 2018. They prescribed more medication. When I returned from my honeymoon in May, after leaving him with a sitter for two weeks, Tony was not doing well: he was barely able to breath easily.When I took him back to LABAH, the different vet looked at the chart, and again cited asthma (as written on the chart, thus was anchored instead of thinking for herself) and prescribed the SAME pills that we had filled and he was already taking, after we told her he was already on them. We didnt realize this until we got the prescription refilled. We had to call to fix this and explain to them her logic, as nothing was notated on the chart. She had changed the prescription from what she verbally mentioned from being in the room, to going in the back, to returning to the room.We brought him back because it wasnt working. The new vet from the last, again, looked at the chart after we waited 60 minutes, even though we had an appointment, and again cited asthma and another medication. No tests were ordered for cancer between March - July or anything besides asthma as its Tonys asthma. No tests or action was ordered to test anything else. This is how doctors are trained to think: eliminate the worst possible situation, esp. after something persistently does not work. They did not do this.Tony was diagnosed at Austin Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Center(AVES) with Nasal Lymphoma. Now, when I look at photos of him from last March, you can see one eye is larger than the other, indicating the tumor was behind it. AVES philosophy is to treat for the worst possible outcome to save your pets life.We took him to the best care, Texas A&M University Vet hospital, to remove his eye, as the tumor caused him to go blind in July. Within two days of the surgery, the tumor had spread to his left lymph node when it was not there prior. I think every day what would have happened if we had been able to treat the cancer earlier: would the cancer have not spread? Would he have not lost his eye? Sadly, due to the 5-month time loss between symptoms and accurate diagnosis, we dont know how much longer his life could have been.He went through radiation, then chemo and fought hard, and was able to live a happy life for another three months with these treatments. Once he was in pain and the chemo was no longer working, we let him go.We are heartbroken and still recovering from his sudden death. I hope that you greatly consider going to another vet over LABAH, esp. if you have an older pet, an animal with a weakened immune system or complicated medical history. LABAH is not the vet who will admit a situation is out of their care and refer him/her to others. In fact, they may even miss the diagnosis in a five-month window.These vets are kind and seem caring, but pack too many patients in a day. For us they missed key, potentially life-extending details in Tonys case. I really wish they had thought more critically, rather than followed what was on his chart and also took more time on his case, rather than processed his case to get to the next appointment. Most of all, I hope they read this, discuss it, and make changes as a hospital to provide better care for their current and future patients.

I had been worried about taking my newly adopted German Shepherd Dog to the vet since she is not fond of strangers. When Lady started having some worrisome symptoms, I was able to make a next day appointment here.The entire experience at the hospital was amazing. COVID-19 protocols were followed. They were gentle and sweet with my pup. She was not traumatized at all and was not even scared to go in the car that evening. I don’t think she would mind going back!Our appointment was quick and I felt that I had the doctor’s full attention. The staff and doctor explained everything to me on the phone and I felt confident their opinions.I think we have found our permanent vet! Thanks LABAH!

We took our two newly-adopted FeLV+ kitties from Austin Pets Alive! to LABAH, and were so impressed! They offer a complimentary post-adoption evaluation, so we were there for a free visit but they absolutely gave us their full attention and advice. Ashley was our technician, and Dr. Honeycutt out vet, and both treated our kitties with so much compassion. Well be bringing our cats back, and highly recommend the practice!

Super kind and friendly staff and they do a great job. Very expensive though. (for reference, my quote for 1 baby tooth extraction that was ~$850, whereas another vet up north only charges ~$200). A bit too pricy for me to justify, but they are good people and do good work.

I was able to schedule a same day appointment for a 5 week old kitty that found our family and needed to be checked out and rid of fleas. Because of Covid-19 we were unable to go in with him but they came out to get him a few minutes ahead of our scheduled time and the vet called me on my cell to discuss our new pet and the next steps in his care. It couldnt have been easier and now we have a nice and compassionate place for our kitty care.

Wow!! We just love the team at Lake Austin Hospital! The Doctors and staff are so kind, thoughtful and professional. My husband and I had to recently say goodbye to our black lab, Kaia and the care, sympathy and love they showed us was just amazing during the sad process of letting her go. We received a beautiful memorial gift with her ashes, paw print and sweet note expressing their condolences. We were just blown away to the care!! We take our other chocolate lab and cat (Eve) to this team and will not go anywhere else, as long as we live in Austin! Thank y’all so so much for all that you do.

This experience was great. I have been to 3 vets in Austin. The staff and the Dr. The best. My dog was comfortable. They made me feel comfortable. They did not over react and pressure into testing for my dog. In the past other Vets have made me feel this way. I had a great follow up call. I will refer them to my friends.

Wow- I love LABAH so much. I’ve only had a few interactions with them, but they are a top notch vet. I rescued my sweet old boy and very quickly learned that he was cancer-ridden and needed to be put down. This was the sweetest, most humane and loving experience I’ve ever experienced. My partner was with me at the time and had also recently put his dog down and was amazed at what a different experience this was against the one at another vet that he had had. We are both sold. These vets and techs LOVE animals so much- I imagine all vets and vet techs do, but those at LABAH are so special.

We drive up from South Austin to come here because we love it so much. The amount of care and attention that our pets (two small dogs) receive is beyond anything weve experienced at any other vet. We come for both annual and sick visits and have always received the highest standard of care. The vets and vet techs take the time to listen to our concerns and explain everything thoroughly and thoughtfully. They provide feedback and advice not just for what we came in for, but for the pets general wellness too, which we appreciate. Also, their business hours are extremely convenient and theres hardly ever a wait.

I absolutely love this Animal Hospital. Not only are they amazing with my little boy, but they are always so incredibly thorough. They are consistently able to get him in to see the vet, even when its last minute, and their facilities are so clean but very welcoming at the same time. So happy to have found them.

Dr. Griepp is one of the best veterinarians I have ever taken my pet to. We had an emergency with one my cats Daisy and were able to get an appt here last minute. All staff were so nice and helpful, and worked really well with my cat. They went over all of the tests and medications they wanted to do and were very straight-forward with the pricing, all of which were very reasonable. They were not judgemental when we could not afford everything they wanted to do. Even though they were unable to fully treat her at their facility, they sent us home with all the resources and medications we needed to take care of her, and now she is doing much better. Dr. G even requested that I follow up a few days later to let her know how Daisy was doing. Unfortunately I wasnt able to get a hold of her (Im sure they are very busy), but everything about the clinic felt so sincere and professional. I will be bringing all my pets here in the future.

Recently switched to LABAH and it’s been great for my dogs! The front desk staff was extremely welcoming and took time getting us settled in. The doctor took her time with the dogs and is fear free certified which was an added bonus. Cost was worth the experience and care for my little monsters!

There are several doctors in the practice and all are excellent quality. The vet techs and front desk staff are super professional and really know how to make the vet a positive experience. My dog is always excited to visit! As for price, the vet is going to be expensive no matter what. If you need low cost vaccines or heart worm and flea treatment, try Emancipet.

Ive been using Lake Austin Blvd Animal Hospital for about 25 years. Theyve always provided my cats with fantastic care. The vets are wonderful and the techs and check-in and check-out people are too.

Ive been taking my dogs for a number of years to Lake Austin Blvd Animal Hospital. All the vets have offered first rate service, but special props to Dr. Kelly, Dr. Honeycutt and Dr. Spitz. They are awesome and my dogs Boone, Aussie and Pee-Wee love them too.

Love love this place! They have great and convenient hours so you dont need to take any time off work. I have seen 3 different vets and all are so friendly and helpful. The office also calls a few days after coming in for a problem to check in on your animal. They are so caring and very helpful. I have gone after 5pm for each appt and have had less than 10 minutes of wait time. I think that they have improved since the reviews written about their wait times a few years ago! I had no issues with it. I would definitely recommend them!

I have been taking my two cats to LABAH since May. Based on several different appointments, I have been pleased in general. The staff have been very helpful and obviously care deeply about their four-legged patients. The only thing preventing me from giving them five stars is that on more than one occasion I have had a very long wait time during an appointment, but I think this has been due to other animals coming in with emergency problems that needed to be addressed immediately, so I cant fault them too much for that issue.

When our Pomeranian was recently attacked by a large dog, we immediately brought him to LABAH, and they knew exactly what to do to put him and us at ease. Thank you!

Dr. Spitz and his staff have taken great care of my animals for almost 15 years now. They are open until 9pm during the week. Not only is it convenient, its saved me some trips to an emergency/after hours vet. Ive never doubted that they cared for my cat, even when he was being a nightmare.

Weve been taking our dog to LABAH for a decade now and are very happy. Everyone is really nice and professional. Their hours are great so we never have a problem getting an appt. And our dog is growing old. All the things you want from a veterinarian.

Were first time dog owners who adopted a very nervous/anxious 3 year old schnauzer mix. The people at LABAH have great availability and were able to schedule us for our first wellness visit at a time and day that was convenient for us.The staff handled our nervous dog with extreme care and compassion. They took measures to make sure she was comfortable with the office and staff. The experience was very much focused on her and her needs. It helps that theyre located in an old house, so the office has a much warmer/inviting feel than a clinic in a strip mall.Because were first time owners Dr. Ally took 10-20 minutes to talk to us about general care, offer advice, and answer our questions.Overall it was a very pleasant experience, and we intend on continuing to use LABAH for Smidgens care.

Dr. Spitz is the most compassionate vet I have ever met. He takes his time with each animal and truly loves them. He looked over our lab for many years up until the end at the old age of 15. It was a moment we dreaded and throughout the process they were incredible. The WHOLE staff there was amazing year in and year out and especially at the end. They always reviewed the lab work requested and the charges associated with it. We trust them in every aspect of our animals lives.

These folks are the best; Dr. Spitz is incredible, compassionate & brilliant, and leads an excellent staff of vets, clinical staff and front desk staff who are just a pleasure to work with and who are there for you in your times of need. Hearts & smarts.

I used these folks for a few years and my assertion is they are way too expensive, they never run on time, and often they have technicians doing work who are unqualified to handle animals ...many are in training. My last visit I had a cat with a bad leg ...because the technician didnt know how to handle my animal it jumped 3 feet off the table... With its bad leg to the floor ... I was horrified and the technician scampered from the room without retrieving my cat to get someone else to help because they were clueless on what to do ...That was the last time I went to these folks.

This place is everything you want in a veterinary clinic/animal hospital. The staff is kind, welcoming, and skilled, the doctors are compassionate and pragmatic, and they practice responsible medicine. That is to say, evidence-based and invested in preventative care, yet connected to your individual companion and your family’s needs. The clinic and surgery center are both situated in vintage Austin houses that make the place feel homey instead of antiseptic, but they use state of the art technology to give the best medical care in both the surgery center and treatment area. They rescue animals themselves, and they help the Austin rescue community, and have since they began.This place will never be what you don’t want in a vet clinic/animal hospital. They aren’t pushy or aggressive, they will help you understand finances if that is an issue before you make a big decision, while still laying out for you what various types of care will mean medically for your pet. They don’t overextend themselves by trying to be a boarding facility because their focus is being a top-notch animal hospital.If you are like most people, you stopped reading my review after the first couple sentences. But if you are that rare person who is still reading, I’d like to tell you that my experience with LABAH isn’t casual. I first met Dr. Spitz in 1995. I was working for the Humane Society at the time, and my husband and I had rescued a sweet pit bull who was nearly bald with mange (we named him Brouhaha, or Brou for short). I knew Dr. Spitz had done pro bono work for the shelter, and so I went to Lake Austin, where I met him, and Leni, and they have been my family’s most preferred care team since that day. The skills Leni brings to her practice are many, and she does so with such self-effacement that you might never notice how adept she is in her interventions. I really love that Dr. Spitz never bases his medical decisions on the moment once he has history on a patient; instead he draws on all his knowledge of them over time to come to an individualized care plan, and he knows when and how refer patients for specialized care as needed, maintaining an integration between them all. Brou lived a long life; he beat cancer once and had his knee repaired after a Frisbee-related accident, and Dr. Spitz and Leni were there every step of the way, even when his cancer came back to stay, and they helped my family support him in the best health possible in his final year of life. Since then, many of my animals, cats and dogs, have been lucky enough to find care at LABAH. Dr. Wilson and Dr. Honeycutt have both helped us through some difficult times with our older pets, always with such grace, wisdom, and compassion. As for the current staff, although many faces at LABAH are new to me, they always seem to carry a friendly smile! There’s just something about the place that attracts kindness and the drive to deliver the best care, and I think it’s amazing that such a well-established and respected veterinary hospital is always finding ways to support growth in its staff (as well as its own methodologies), which means that often receptionists and techs spend a few lovely months or years there and then move on, of course with the support of their buddies at LABAH.Are you still reading? I have gone here since I moved to Austin 4 years ago. Its old and rundown and the office staff is rude yet I did not mind all of that because I really like Dr. Wilson and it was close to my house.Then this past year my dogs care was transferred to Dr. Spitz for some unknown reason. I found him to be VERY rude and condescending. He was not open-minded what so ever. My dog is 12 and I was concerned about giving her a lot of vaccinations at once and asked if the 3 year booster that is 3 shots in one comes in individual shots and could they be given seperately on different days as to not to overload her immune system - he said they did come seperately but he would not give them that way because he did nto believe it made any difference and he would not change how he does things. And essentially told me to go somewhere else if I did not want to do it his way.Add that to the ABSOLUTELY rude front office staff girl named CAMERON. I was happy to leave and never look back.DO NOT GO THERE! Be kind to your pet and yourself and go else where!!!
