During my time here at Hillside Creek Apartments, I have received the most professional, responsive, family oriented experience from management! Shawna, you have made my experience with you pleasurable and you always stayed on top of any issues that I had! Your follow up with me after an issue always made me feel important and at ease. Thanks for making my time there feel like I was part of a family!!
Staff was not bad overall. I ended up having a broken leaking air conditioner for a very long time. I had the maintenance people in there over a dozen times but water would continue to pool and leak into buckets that I had to place in my bathroom. I had to work at home in the texas summer with no air conditioning and constantly having to worry about emptying buckets even in the middle of the night.I eventually needed to move because it was clear that the problem was never going to be fixed. I was going to leave it be but they ended up saying I owed them money. I paid the debt but felt like I needed to leave this review because people need to avoid this place.
I just want to say, Ive lived here for 3 years now. I love the local, and the size of my apartment, but I had an issue that recently came up where I had to ask the manager, Shawna for help. The staff is usually kind, but all my visits have been pretty superficial. I didnt really make an effort to talk to them. I cannot believe how patient and helpful she was! She took the time to listen and helped clear my issue right away! I was so grateful for her today, that I felt I needed to put it out there, how amazingly responsive and kind this management staff is! Thank you guys for your help!
The value isnt bad and its a pretty convenient location but Ill warn that if sunlight is important to you, majority of the units here barely get any at all due to the design and the few small windows with dark screens. Its affecting my mental health to be honest bc Im not getting enough sun. Lights have to constantly be on as well- its always dark inside. You also have to now pay for parking spots (a new development with new mgmt). Its really annoying because youll have to park far from your apt while theres 10 open reserved spots sitting around all day.
While apartment shopping, I had the pleasure of meeting Shawna and the staff at Hillside Creek Apartments. They were all so friendly and were able to answer all of my questions. The office was clean and inviting.
Since the very first day I moved in I have had many problems with Hillside Creek. I moved from the East Coast so I wasnt able to tour the apartment in-person and I wasnt familiar with this area of Austin.First, the apartment I moved into was not the apartment that was advertised to me to get me to sign the lease. I was sent pictures and videos and when moving in thats not what I got. I moved into an apartment with brown cabinets that were supposed to be white, bugs crawling all over the floor even in the bedroom (it was a first floor unit), a broken dishwasher with moldy water inside, a leaking AC, and a busted bedroom window. On top of that, the apartment was not fully cleaned and it smelled awful from the last tenant.I was informed before moving in that they made a mistake and showed me the wrong apartment, but I was l willing to deal with the brown cabinets because I was just days away from moving in. When I moved into the unit is when I learned this place was trash. Before moving in they did fix the AC and the bedroom window (not up to good standards), but when I notified management of everything else nothing was fixed. The apartment was also located in an area with no sun light and so the apartment was dark all the time. There are no light fixtures in these apartments except for the kitchen and dining room. After complaining multiple times, I was moved to a new unit. I would have moved out but obviously they werent willing to refund my money so I could find a new place. The new unit is slightly better, but now I have another dishwasher that does not work. It has a major water leak. I was told they would send someone over right away and still no one has showed up. My apartment could have been under water and no one would have came. This apartment was also not cleaned as it should have been for a new tenant moving in.I have reached out to corporate and they dont respond. If you try calling the office for anything they rarely answer and when you walk down there theyre seriously sitting there doing nothing. Water at this complex has been awful too. Multiple apartments have been shut off to water for repairs. The water temperature is terrible and the water pressure is awful. If you want to take a hot shower its either blazing hot or cold. With the water pressure you can barely wash the soap off of your body.If you have a pet, there are barely any places to take them out leading to dogs using the bathroom on the rocks in front of the buildings. It smells really bad and nobody picks up after their dogs. The dog park is also super hard to get to if you live on the other side of the property. If youre looking to get your moneys-worth go somewhere else! You can afford a newer apartment in Austin for this price. The apartments are not updated like they look like on their website. They are dirty and need a lot of upgrades to be worth the price. Management is also clueless on how to do their jobs. If you bring a problem to them they talk in circles and dont fix the issue. They also dont know how to keep ledgers up-to-date and will try to come after you for money you do not owe. Ive spoken to other residents here and they have had some of the same problems so if you want to be miserable move here.
I’m very disappointed because these apartments seemed like they would be a great fit for me but I have been unable to tour. I scheduled a tour 5/18 for 2pm and when I arrived I was told we had to reschedule. It would have been nice to get a phone call before driving from work in North Austin. I’ve called multiple times since then and no one picks up, I’ve left messages that haven’t been returned. I’m taking it as sign this probably wouldn’t be a good place for me to rent.
I love the good energy in the office! The ladies always make me feel like a priority.
Thank you for always taking care of my maintenance needs each time that I call. Iliana works the front desk and she is always so helpful and sweet too. I can tell she really cares about the well-being of the people who live here.
Hillside Creek has definitely changed for the better since management changed this year. There has been new renovations and the staff has been very friendly and sincere. I have renewed my contract and am excited to see whats to come. The property looks so much better and clean too!
I have lived here for awhile now and management and maintenance have been fast with responding with any concerns. Beautiful property and great location would recommend for sure.
Great service andrea was really helpful with the information great staff trying to move in asap
Love the building, and the office people, they are so attentive and willing to help with any issues. Also a big upgrade from my last apartment! Definitely recommend!
Hideous logo rebrand!! Theres a lot to like about Hillside Creek (location especially) but there is constant property management turnover. The latest company (Northstar Group) managing the property has been the worst so far in my 4 years of living here. Property management team has poor communication skills, and they dont hesitate to nickel & dime you at every turn.
I recently moved out from this apartment complex. I lived at this complex from 2016-2020 and a different time in 2013-2014. Overtime Ive been pleased with management despite the different groups coming in almost yearly. However, in recent events, I would not suggest a move here. Ive had two separate maintenance jobs that have been left unattended to for 4-6 months. Im not faulting the crew, rather management. After cutting out a hole in my walls, they never came back to fix the pipe issue. Instead, they closed up the holes with black tape. Im pretty low maintenance and I was rarely home, and didnt care to complain/follow-up.My second issue, the apartment had the AC unit above the general use bathroom which would leak into the bathtub. Fair. Its an older complex. I dont have an issue with that, but more an issue in which the ceiling was falling apart developing rust around the frame, and developing moisture. In turn, developing mold. This issue was never addressed.Upon moving out, Hillside Creek is wanting to charge me additional fees such as damaged slats fee, dirty oven fee ($10), and carpet fee. ($150). Having lived a military lifestyle, we leave a place as it was issued to us. Shampooed carpet and cleaned ovens. One, I dont wear shoes in the house, so the carpet isnt dirty. Two, I own a carpet shampooer and shampooed the carpets regularly. I even shampooed the carpeting the last day we were there.Currently, Hillside Creek is asking for $200+ in move-out fees, which I believe they should be eating for the poor management-maintenance communication. Maintenance requests are made through an online portal, so they can check their records for ticket requests.I dont have issue paying the slats or oven fee (despite giving it a cleaning). Carpeting, I refuse to pay for especially when there were other maintenance requests that were never fulfilled that altered my day-to-day habits.
Loved this community! So many perks! The location is great JUST MINUTES from 6th. It’s gated and feels safe. The floor plan choices are vast and spacious. Shawna is a great representative for this community! She did a great job of showing me the community and off of its great features!
I worked with the girl who sits in the front desk Ilianna. She was very professional and took her time to show me different options that would best fit my families needs. Highly recommend!
This property has had a huge turn around since the new manager has taken over. It’s much cleaner and I feel proud of where I live. Shawna is very nice and professional. I would definitely recommend living here.
I just want to say i appreciate the hillside creek staff theyve been amazing through this winter storm
Hillside is so chill, I love how you are in the city but not, because you cannot hear the busy streets or I-35. You get peace but get to enjoy everything Austin offers, best of both worlds!
My new apartment is so cozy, I love the sunroom! I get to be right down the street from work and the staff has been very accommodating to all my preferences. AMAZING PRICE for this location and walking my dog in through the green areas around the apartments is so nice.
The office staff was very helpful and answered all my questions. I moved from out of state and I was stressing about the move but the staff helped me with all my needs. Thanks guys!
I just transferred here for work and had to do everything online and over the phone. Shawna was so helpful and made the process so easy. My apartment is beautiful, the property looks great and I am just minutes from work downtown. Thank you for all you help, emails and pictures.
One of the perks of living here is being so close to UT and literally everything I need, plus so many foodie spots. I love my new apartment and I got the best deal for the size.
Absolutely horrible, heartless management that refuses to acknowledge their customers or fix their broken apartments. Totally greedy and unhelpful management that will do anything for a dime. Terrible gym and pool, and rude unresponsive management that refuses to help. Overpriced for a horrible experience. DO NOT MOVE HERE!
I’ve been living here at hillside creek for 4 years and the change of management has honestly improved the community and my living experience! The staff is very understanding and always makes me feel like priority
I’ve lived at Hillside creek for a while and we have seen such a improvement with the new Manager and office staff. Everything is much cleaner and office staff has always been very nice and helpful. Maintenance here is good. Very glad to live here.
Im new to Austin and Hillside Creek is the perfect place for my first home here, im literally minutes from 6th street . The place is nice, good bang for my buck
Absolutely love the location! It’s only 10 minutes away from downtown Austin and Zilker Park. The staff is super friendly, helpful and follow all safety precautions for COVID. Andrea was a delight to work with! She had a smile the entire time she was helping me! Definitely the place to live!
I can’t believe how poorly this place is managed. Save yourself the headache and move literally anywhere else.
I can honestly say I love it here I never had a problem with the management are the Maintenance man they are so wonderful and friendly and they always get the work done when need to .
Management is excellent I never have a problem are hassle with them the maintenance are wonderful they are always on time to fix and put thing where they need to be I never have a problem with them at all I will honestly refer a friend I love the services there they are always friendly and always with a smile on there faces 💯💯
Loved the staff, so helpful!!
This complex is a great choice for the price. The residents are nice, they allow dogs, the place is well kept, and I feel safe here! The only complaint I have is not all units have in unit laundry but the laundry centers on site are clean and work well. I like living here!
Wanting to express their emotions more clearly but still understanding how I felt.
Shawna made it very clear that she was too busy to help me find an apartment. So rude. You could have professional tact and take my information and return my call... Im not totally unreasonable...
Great value for money! Location is fantastic. Yes, e. Oltorf is still in transition but itll get better. The apartments are all redone. Also insulation is good so we barely hear any neighbors. Staff is great and service requests are followed up quickly. The new management company is doing a great job! So ignore the bad reviews from the past Id say. Im a happy resident with my wife and daughter!
!!!!!DO NOT LIVE HERE!!!!!Do not live here, it is a terrible place. Hotspot for thieves. They have stolen over 2k worth of my things in the parking lot. I also had my go kart stolen here. They have no cameras and management is terrible and they are rude. Please DO NOT LIVE HERE do yourself a favor.
I am happy living here!! Very convenient to go to work and other places I usually go. I never had any bad experience with the staff, all are nice, helpful and friendly. More power!!!
Just posting here to note that my air conditioning has been out for four days now, and no word from management on when they might get it fixed. Its 90 degrees daily. This isnt the first time this has happened. Theres a lot to like about this place but its all overshadowed by the shoddy Air Conditioning situation.
(2014-present)Hillside Creek is very close to downtown and the rent price is pretty good. The area around Hillside Creek is a bit shady, but after a few months of living here, I still feel I made the right choice, If you are looking for a quiet place to live, check this place out. The pool is nice and there is a car port for every car, some apartment buildings will charge extra for that, but Hillside Creek, it is free as it should be.The office staff are nice and always helpful, part of the reason why I have not moved. My neighbors are surprising quiet and there are lots of trees here. Hillside Creek apartments are getting old and it starting to show, for example, the ceiling has that popcorn texture, but not as bad as you may think. Many other apartment buildings area have strict rules when it comes to having personnel property on the balcony, not here. You are free to make it feel at home, however, that also comes with a price, some peoples idea of home is not always clean, other than that, I like it here. Just wish the rent was not so high, but that is everywhere.I heard Google Fiber will be coming here soon, I hope that is true. Will report again when that comes true.
Update: changed review. When I left due to the noise and constant construction and them sending emails every other day saying the water would be shut off for leaks they found in buildings, they charged me for a chandleir that fell on its own and I have a picture to prove it showing eroded cheap plastic.
I just moved in here but so far I am loving it. When I came to tour the properties Lexie, the leasing professional working, was super friendly and welcoming. The property is very nice and they are making awesome renovations to the pool. Excited to see what the rest of my time here is like!
Great price and close to work!!
I recently moved here and I love it here! I like that once your inside, your sheltered from the city and its quiet and peaceful. The pool is great and theres a grill there too! Theres a dog park out back for your furry friend! Ive only known the new management (so some of the old complaints may be irrelevant) and they are great! They are responsive and any issues Ive had, weve been able to resolve them. We looked at a lot of places and Im glad we chose here!
Hillside Creek has been amazing! I had a rough move in due to no ones fault just luck of the draw but the staff was SO helpful and made sure everything they could do, they did. The apartment is beautiful to say the least and priced well. I enjoy the sun room that is basically like a bonus room to my one bedroom apartment. I have never had any bugs of any kind in my apartment so Id say the pest control I pay for is working. Also, maintenence is ON IT. If you have an issue they get to it quickly and without hassle, a simple online request or phone call to the office and youre good to go.There isnt anything negative I can say for this place. The staff is always super helpful and they throw a decent amount of parties or little coffee and donut days. Very happy with Hillside Creek, Im sure you will be too! Also, new pool going in and gated community right near EVERYTHING.
By far the worst customer service and communication skills by the management/front office team. Really appalled at how they treat their tenants.
I recently moved in here and I like this complex. It is really quiet, peaceful and safe. The staff are really friendly and helpful, especially Sarah and Stacey.
My mother and I lived at hillside creek in the middle sized apartment for 2 years and 4 months. When we looked and lease everything is great. Everyone is so nice and respectful to you. Once we moved in, we were out of luck. When we moved in, there were roaches in the apartment so we requested to have pest control over. At first management didnt believe us so we showed them pictures. During the time we lived there, there were a lot of car break-ins. They tried to break in to my car, but I guess they werent able to get to lower the window enough. Enough for me to notice. My tires were slashed twice. I woke up twice with bed bugs bites, one time on my elbow and the other time on my foot about 6 months apart. Pest control came over and claimed there was no sign of bed bugs. My bathtub paint peeled twice, the last time I couldnt get it fix because management said I had to leave my apartment for 2 days or not use my bathroom for 2 days since the paint smell was very strong and they wouldnt help me get a hotel room for 2 nights or at least deduct 2 nights off my rent payment to help me out so I was miserable until the end of my lease. The year of 2016 was a hard year for me because I was rear ended on 3 separate car accidents (March, August and January), my godmother passed away from stomach cancer and my moms health deteriorated. With that said, I had difficulty paying rent, but I always paid it with late fees. Due to my payment history, they didnt renew my lease. What bothered me the most was that the nonrenewal notification was placed outside my door when it specifically said that they had to hand it to a resident or placed inside the door. They also notified me about a prior to move out inspection a day before, they never asked for permission they just barged in. When we moved out, I turned in the keys before closing time. Well, when I received the remainder of my deposit, they charged me for a dripping pan, oven cleaning, carpet replacement and 1 day of rent. I paid electricity for 2 days after I moved out, but they are not fighting me to pay for that. How convenient! To be honest, I think they already knew what they were going to charge me for when they did their prior to move out inspection. There was no need to clean for 12:30 hours like we did. I even cleaned the walls and ceiling.
Ive loved living at this complex. The location is awesome, the office staff are all super nice and Ive actually made some friends at the dog park. Havent had any problems, would definitely recommend.
I love it here! Its quiet, clean, and the staff is very friendly. I looked at a million apartments when I moved here and this one was by far the best.
If you like paying high rent and living in the dark (literally, they have no ceiling fan/lighting fixtures in the living and bedroom area) this is the place for you! They also have major issues with the plumbing in these units, the septic system overflowed into my bathtub twice and I had to move out for a couple weeks while repairs were made and I came back to a filthy apartment. Overall not a great experience here, renovations are being made but if you put lipstick on a pig its still a pig. Will not be renewing my lease here.
Probably all other reviews are quite old. The leasing and maintenance staff are surprisingly friendly and efficient compared to my previous apartment experiences. Location is great too.
I currently live at Hillside and love many features about this complex. The staff are very friendly and helpful even when you see them after hours. Repairs which I needed only one in over a year, was completed that day and they called to ensure everything was working properly. The grounds are always cleaned up and modifications are being made to the pool and gym which I am so excited about. I am notified of community happenings and events at HSC, when packages arrive, about lost or found pets, water outages, apartment, and fire extinguisher checks via email. I found this complex by accident and am blessed to be a member of the Hillside Creek Community. It is centrally located, close to entertainment, and by the river. It is a nice quiet complex, and has a laundry facility on site. Thanks for being awesome! Moca
Its not a bad place to live ...there is quite a few things that could be different ..actually too many to name ...well I guess its not that shady ..however for the amount it is to rent here ! Its pretty ghetto ...theyre definitely taking full advantage of its location to I-35 and neglecting to upgrade the place itself ...but ..there are apt. Two block farther EAST that are WAY WAY worse than Hillside Creek ...try Royal Oaks ...hahaha
I moved here in the begging of April, the young lady that used to work her who help me was very friendly. I hardly live here due to work and the fact that I have to travel 80% of the time, however every time I get back from travel I always from dead cockroaches by my door and around the apartment. Ive gone to the office to let them know since we do have to pay monthly for pest control. Since I loved in I went swimming for the first time and there was even cockroaches in the pool at the bottom and floating at the top! that was pretty gross!! Even when I go throw the trash out as Im walking to the dumpster there is roaches everywhere. The apartment is a decent size but due to the amount of cockroaches I find I can not wait until my lease is over.
Pool is nice!
WORST APARTMENT COMPLEX EVER! Seriously do not move in here. The property might look nice and the folks in the office are always normal enough. BUT do not be fooled. The parking situation is the worst... YOUR CAR WILL BE TOWED. The management is awful and back stabbing. Make sure everything you do is in writing, signed and get a copy. They will never work with you. The people in the complex are just as bad. They stay up all night and slam doors and party in the parking lot. Children climbing on and around your cars and throwing rocks is a common thing to see. My mail often never came ... more like LOST in the office some place. I lived here for a year... the location is great this place is not. I seriously moved across the street on parker. THIS PLACE IS A JOKE DONT LIVE HERE.
I have had more issues with this complex than I can begin to explain, but I will give you a few:My rent was stolen in two separate occasions. They informed my roommate and I that our money order would not work. We repaid rent and did some investigating. In case you did not know, it takes months to trace where a money order was cashed. Turns out it was cashed by the apartment manager. She literally stole our rent money. Since she was the manager, and we were young and naive, our complaints were dismissed. No money refunded. She claimed to have never done it.Nothing in the apartment ever worked and I have never seen so many roaches before in my life. Especially when people move in and out around you.It was the only place I could afford and resigned my lease, only to find out AFTER that they were raising my rent 200$ without doing the renovations to my apartment. Since I was already on the lease once they informed me of this, I had to break the lease to move out. I was informed that it would not be an eviction, and I would have to move within 24 hours. I found a place that day and moved. Years later, it shows up on my credit report that I owe them over 7k? I have been fighting it for 2 years now, asking them to find the file on me, but no one seems to know where they keep their files. Every time I call its a new manger stating that they are currently in a temporary office due to renovations and that the files are in storage. It is making my life hell and I cannot rent apartments without a higher security deposit and a lot of questioning now. THIS COULD HAPPEN TO YOU! THEY TARGET YOUNG PEOPLE AMD TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THEM!
I just signed a lease for 8 months and hope to live there for a least two years. Kirsten Fessler is the assistant property manager and she helped me through the whole process and was helpful, funny and nice. She found a unit that fit all of my requirements (except a laundry connection in my unit, but they have machines on site so I dont mind) The whole staff seems wonderful. They have a dog park!!!!!! Free covered parking!!!! Big, beautiful, refurbished apartments in a great area of town. I highly recommend check it out.Ill be updating this review as time goes by. 7-26-2016
When I moved in I got the apartment very duty, smell it so bad and everything wrong, they change the carpet for a new carpet but when I got the final bill they charged almost $70.00 for the carpet and water high price! Don’t move in at the hillside creek apartments! You will regret.
This is a great place to live if you enjoy a shady college dorm like living experience. The office staff are TERRIBLE. Not only can i tell they dont want to be there but they are not very knowledgable either. I never get a notice for a package in the office. Were always getting emails saying that the maintenance have come into our apartment even when we had not put in a work order and do not receive prior notice that they would be entering. The entry gates are always closed and you must have a clicker to get in and out. The only guest parking they have is down the street in the LUBYS parking lot. So if youre parents are coming to visit you wish them luck that they dont get mugged on their way down the street to your apartment! Ive lived in many apatrments all over Austin and this place is by far the worst experience. The actual unit it self is ok. Ive gone through a lot of wood glue if that says anything. All in all, I will not be renewing.
This management company are thieves. They WILL STEAL your deposit after hustling you for additional fees that were previously paid.DO NOT RENT HERE unless you like getting ripped off!!!THEY WILL STEAL FROM YOU!!!!!
The manager is very hard to communicate with her (Lexi ) she’s always rude and unfriendly even with the staff who works there.
The HORRIBLE management staff from Hillside Villas is now at this apartment complex to spread more lies, poor ethics, and as always for your daily joke just look at the grammar and spelling of the e-mails fraudmaster liar Sarah from the office sends out.
The apartments were not all that
😱😱😱😱
I love the location and the community
