I absolutely love this Sugarcoat location! I always book Sam and he does a wonderful job with my pedicures! I usually try to go mid day when it’s a bit quieter and there’s not too many people in the salon. I never feel like my service is rushed and the employees are all so friendly and sweet!!
I tried Sugarcoat for the first time yesterday, as I’ve heard great things about it from close friends. I’m an essential worker and it’s been awhile since I’ve treated myself to some nice services. I made an appointment for 5:15 PM for the Fiji pedicure, which is the most expensive pedicure with the most treatments, described as “a mini vacation for tired feet.” I also called and added an SNS manicure to my service. I arrived at 5:07 PM and my pedicure began at 5:38 PM, which was fine as I had no other plans last night. The woman who did my pedicure appeared to be in a frantic rush, so I didn’t receive half of the services listed in the pedicure such as the bath salts, coconut soak, or almond masque wrap with hot towels. The scrubbing she did on my feet and legs was so violent and quick that it was anything but “a mini vacation for tired feet.” She quickly rubbed the stones on my legs and feet with no oil so it felt rough but she did add oil when I requested it. The stones were not hot so I don’t know if they were left over from another pedicure since she was in such a hurry. She also did not put any top coat on my polish. I was at the nail station for my manicure with the same nail tech at 6:07 PM. She squeezed and twisted my fingers so hard that I had to say something, which I normally choose not to do. She scuffed my skin/lost control of the nail drill about 5 times and asked “Did I scare you?” And I had to explain that hitting my skin hurt. After my nails were done, she grabbed her stuff, asked the tech next to her to apply oil, and left the salon. I got no lotion or hand/arm massage at all with my manicure. I uploaded some photos to show how my cuticles are red from the scuffing but hard to tell from photos. My nails also just do not feel smooth like after other manicures. I paid $110 in full for my services and I just felt I had a bad experience and paid too much for the value I received. Megan was great, who was doing my friend’s nails and applied my oil to my nails. I think I will return for Megan’s services. I normally don’t write reviews but I just felt I received a very unfair service.
This is my absolute favorite nail salon in Atlanta! Everyone who works here is so friendly and professional, and the salon itself is very clean and lovely. Ever since I started going to Sugarcoat, my nails always look fantastic, and I get so many compliments on them (literally get stopped on a regular basis by strangers wanting to tell me I have beautiful nails). The whole experience is incredibly relaxing, and I look forward to going back every few weeks. Highly recommend for amazing manicures!
My friend and I made a reservation for this place through yelp, we received a reply back from the store owner confirming the appointment. When I got there, they had no record of our appointment. Luckily they did work us in. However, I am very dissatisfied with my gel manicure. In the photos I have posted you can see how there is a jagged nail left in the corner of one finger as well as the paint not completely extending into the sides of multiple nails. the worst thing about this is I paid $38 for this manicure. Terrible value, felt very rushed, simply not worth the money.
I almost don’t want to give 5 stars so people don’t find out about this amazing salon. Great prices, friendly staff. They do an amazing job at manicures and pedicures and are always gentle. They even do nail art if you request it and they are all very talented.
Ive been going to Sugarcoat VH for years and have always had good service. Its easy to make an appointment. The staff is friendly and helpful. I get regular polish for my pedis and they usually last 3 weeks to a month.
Extremely meticulous and thorough, very friendly team, clean comfortable atmosphere. Definitely going to make this my go-to spot from now on!
Fellas listen up Everyone here is really nice but the large chair u have to sit is uncomfortable AF. and then the message wasnt that great but the wife enjoyed herself so I guess that what matters lol
I think myself and the technician had misunderstanding and I still not sure why $25 was added to $38 service. But she did great job and my nails look fantastic😊
Not only is this salon taking every precaution for safety, but they are by far the best nail salon I’ve been to in Atlanta yet! They were so nice and did such a good job on my manicure, Sue even custom mixed me a gel polish because they didn’t have the exact polish I wanted in gel! My nails look great and overall I would recommend this salon to ANYONE!
Service was safe and professional. They were able to do a nail design that I requested. I would go back.
Best manicure I’ve ever gotten. Leslie was extremely thoughtful and attentive with my nails! Just found their Instagram page and hoping to be more adventurous than a solid color next time! Will be back in a matter of time
First off, Sue is amazing! The place is warm and welcoming and the salon is very sanitary. They only use one pumice stone per customer. My girlfriend was super impressed, and she’s not easy to impress!
Ive been having my nails done for 30 years and this is one of the best salons in my area (Emory/Va-Hi). They have high quality polishes and I love they offer a regular manicure AND an express manicure that is pefect for gel removal/replacement. Tina D. totally rocks, highly recommend her.And I love that I can make an appointment.
My husband and I go here repeatedly for pedicures. Good color selection, nice atmosphere. Never have an issue getting an appointment (though their online booking system never seems to work completely). Some techs are better than others, so the service is either okay, decent, or amazing - its a surprise every time. Overall, its clean and nice so well keep coming back
The atmosphere is adorable but it is the most uncomfortable and most disappointing pedicure I have ever had. My toes looked completely different shapes and lengths. I said something but she did not offer to correct, just gave an excuse for why they looked that way. The chairs you sit in for pedicure do not recline so you are sitting straight up and there is so room to extend your legs. I was so ready for the service to be over.
Ive been going to this salon for years and Ive never been disappointed. The girls are very professional and do an amazing job every single time! The salon itself is exceptionally clean. Truly love this place and would highly recommend.
I have long loved and been a patron to this salon! Great staff and excellent location. Always a good visit- and my daughter is always happy to tag along ;)
My go to spot! These ladies KNOW what they’re doing! From my SNS and pedicures right down to my wedding nails, Sugar Coat always has my back. The whole team is wonderful. Anna even helps me pick out color swatches when I can’t make up my mind. Been going here for years, and will continue to do so.
Recently moved from Denver and looked for salon to do gel overlays. Tried Sugarcoat and will not go back. Didn’t bother to push back cuticles, didn’t moisturize, didnt,t massage, didn’t have me wash nail dust off before polishing nails, didn’t smooth edges so I had to smooth once I got home, and charged a fortune for limited service. Kept trying to talk me into dipping powder which I kept refusing. Don’t bother.
Have never had a bad experience here. It’s never aggressively crowded and my nails are always great quality.
Awesome service every time.
Im loving the service at Sugarcoat! Tina and Leslie are my go to girls. Ive visited a lot of nail salons trying to find the right one, and its nice to know they truly care about the outcome of the service they provide as well as the ongoing health of your nails. I get SNS and they dont use any electric files on my natural nail. I truly appreciate the thought they put into what they do!
Very relaxing and nice on the inside but get a clear understanding of exactly what they’re charging you before they even begin!! I was told that my pedicure and gel polish on my hands would only be $50 total! Once she finished and came with the bill it was $75! I got no acrylic and only shellac on my natural nails and toes! A rip off at its finest!!
I am here every 2 weeks for nails and also come for wax. I would not go anywhere else in town. At the virgina highlands location. Ali is my girl and any of the girls do a great job on nails when she is out.
Great service! I didn’t have to wait long and the staff was courteous and friendly. I highly recommend!
Friendly staff and welcoming. Nice and clean atmosphere Prices are comparable to the next whole in the wall. Id rather choose nice than ratchet for a few dollars more. SNS isnt that great yet. Chipped off within a week.
Everyone on the staff was so sweet and friendly. My pedicure with Leslie and my manicure with Chelsea was great. They both were so thorough and they both did an excellent and neat job with polishing my nails. They do take walk ins, but make an appointment if you can, even if its the same day. The salon is so cute and has an intimate feeling from the spaces and staff. Not one of those salons where you feel like youre just another set of nails coming through the door, that the staff wants to hurry and get out for the next customer. I drove about 50mins to get there, it was my first time and Ill definitely continue going back. It was definitely worth the drive.
Sugarcoat is such a chic and cute nail salon in Virginia Highlands! Also, most importantly very clean. I love all the girls there. They are so nice and friendly!! its nice to have such a gem in the Virginia Highlands area!
They’ve a fancy salon but service is quite mediocre. I got gel shellac nails done and it started chipping after a few days only. I’ve frequently done gel nails from other salons, and hardly ever experience them chipping so fast. Not sure if it was the quality of their product or the service itself. I did the express manicure pedicure service. I probably will not visit again.
My favorite nail salon in Atlanta! They dont just focus on pretty nails, but nail care. Dont forget to bring your wine.
I absolutely love this place, all the technicians are fantastic. I ve had many gel manicures there. I have switched to SNS hope they have good selection.
The people are nice. Express mani pedi for 35$ But some of the people will try to overcharge you.
Wow. where do I even begin to start? I came to this salon with one of my friends expecting incredible service. I thought the salon looked very cute, and clean. Not to mention that’s the impression once you walk in. An older woman did my nails, and didn’t notice any problem with my nails, or the health of them until a few days later. Not to mention, my nails cost $90. For the price, I expect nothing but quality service, AND healthy nails. That was not in my cards because this nail salon does NOT clean their utensils. Do not be fooled with the pleasant aesthetic they give off. I definitely was. I began to have excruciating pain in one of my nails as the days went on. My acrylic fell off, and below was a purple colored nail (my real nail) filled with blood. The blood would not stop coming out of my nail. I was horrified, and extremely scared. I also cried due to how painful this was! It’s one thing for your acrylic to fall off due to natural causes, but this was an INFECTION. this happened 6 days after my nail visit at SugarCoat. I immediately went to the doctor, for them to let me know it is indeed infected. I got on an antibiotic and a cream to help heal my nail. Not only am I spending more money, am in pain, and wasting MY TIME to go to a doctor to fix something this crooked nail salon did to me. I was furious. I went to SugarCoat and let them know of the situation, they gave me my money back. Do not waste your time with this salon. Unless you or a loved one of yours wants an infection to waste your time and energy with. Almost two months later, I’m still dealing with issues with the nail that was infected and it has now fell off. SugarCoat does not deserve to be in business when they do not clean their utensils that they use on several people day after day. If they did, I would not have to deal with this extremely gruesome process. So ridiculous. Do not come here!!! Probably the worst salon I’ve ever been to due to the outcome! Do not let looks fool you. It’s a very cute salon but the staff has no idea what they are doing, and they are putting their clients and customers health in jeopardy. I have photos as well to prove this, and will be uploading on yelp as well.
Very cute and clean overall! Girls were nice and checked on me often. Ill be back!
The nail tech was very nice. I love my gel nails.
Way overpriced for what other salons include in their pedicures. If you’re over 5’4, you’d be uncomfortable getting a pedicure here. They don’t have adjustable chairs and no massage chairs! Imo that’s one of the best parts of getting a pedi. It’s “modern and hip” but not as comfortable and more expensive. 🧐 they do provide wine which is nice and the staff was friendly!
Great pedicure and manicure. They really take the time to cater to your needs. Awesome service!
Horrible experience, I waited an extra 20 minutes past my appt time and the manicurist seemed very unprofessional. I don’t even know if any of them were licensed since there were no certification on the wall. Truly wanted to love this place, but my 15 min manicure was $40!!!! I was shocked!!! No even worth it if it was $10 less. Don’t waste your time or money here.
Great service. Customer was excellent
This is Best Nail Salon in Atlanta. Go see Tina D. shes so consistent and perfect.
Great place. Clean and inviting. Ali is great!
Excellent service and very friendly staff! Tina D does a perfect American manicure every time!
On our girls day outing we came to sugarcoat to have their Signature Mani-Pedi, with the gel polish on fingers & toes- it was worth the up charge (no labourous drying time). The staff is friendly. No chemical smell in this place from services being done(loved that).
I love the service and the atmosphere, the salon looks more appealing than most nail salons I’ve been to in the past!-
GREAT service and very polite staff! Highly Recommended!
Great service. On a teacher salary, I cannot afford this regularly. But thanks to a parents gift card.
I LOVE this salon. The sugar scrub smells so good and the ladies working there are always amazing, friendly, and engaging in conversation.
Very Clean but the young lady who did my nails barely spoke to me and acted as if she hated doing my nails. No smile no thank you nothing. I will not be returning in fear that I may get the same young woman. The other ladies seemed friendly but the energy towards me was bad.
Great service, nice atmosphere and awesome nail techs. Thanks Mel!
First time to go to sugarcoat and I am hooked. The service was stellar. I had a mani/pedi with SUE. She was friendly and personable. A doll. She did a perfect job. I will be going back!!! #superservice thanks Sue . Yay!
Great place, highly recommend!
By far one of the best mani/pedi places in town. My nail tech is Andrea and she is absolutely Marvelous and Meticulous. My nails always look fab. I also get my brazilian waxes here and Lorana and Ally do a great job. This is def a one stop shop as grooming is concerned.
I got athletes foot after going. They dont clean well
Mel is the best!
Expensive but worth it
Overpriced
