Don’t believe the 5 star reviews from all their friends/family. Countless horror stories across the Fox valley in the car community about how VLP is the worst. I’ve had to use them a few times as a last resort and I was never impressed especially considering they have insanely high prices. Frankly I think their pockets are hurting for money and they’ve been saying and doing anything to stay afloat pretending to be something they are not. Quoting customers incorrect timelines on when their cars can be finished, incorrect $ amounts, replacing parts you didn’t request and you never authorized and then charging you for it and the additional labor hours it took.

Went in for some work and a tune, transmission blew on dyno things happen. Fast forward 6 months finally get to work on my car, decided to get my own quote for the transmission since they could no do it themselves and VLP charged a thousand over what the transmission shop charged. In the end took 8 months to do it all because more important things came up. They tried to make it right by getting it towed back to me but the car came back with engine light on and other shops telling me the codes are because there because they believe the tune was just flashed on and not taken care of.

Ive gone here for general maintenance and repair. Very fast turnaround and work was done properly. The part they used failed (not due to their work) and they replaced it under warranty with no issues at all

These guys are absolutely hands down The best in the biz. I brought my jeep there, with an odd wiring issue for the Chevy 350 that was swapped into it. Without me even knowing that much about it, they figured out why it was running weird within 24 hours and kept me informed the entire time. Every question I asked was answered, and every concern I had was addressed. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone in the Foxvalley for all of your automotive, tuning, performance, and customs needs

They do everything from routine service and part install, to full custom builds. Timely service at a good price. Best dyno setup in the Midwest, and coty is an excellent and experienced tuner. Cant recommend highly enough!

I contacted VL performance about 2 years ago for a custom base map and break in tune for my EJ257 hybrid build. I supplied them with a detailed list of my build and reasonable expectations. I was told I would be contacted, but within 2 weeks, I hadnt been contacted. So, I went to their shop with my detailed build list and I was told that they outsource their Subaru tuning to someone else and I had to wait. I waited and found another tuner, not VLP, and his team did a fabulous job. If you want real service and professionalism, go to Quantum Performance in Freedonia, Wisconsin.

Everything was good at first. Appreciated their work and feedback. They did some coolant work for me and I noticed I was losing coolant from the reservoir. At first they dismissed it and I assumed I was seeing things. I continued losing coolant and contacted them again of possible wrong doing. Everything changed after that. They offered to take the vehicle back in, told me it would take one to two days. It took them 10 days, and all they did was tell me what I told them. They didn’t fix the problem and charged me near $300. Took my car to another shop and they figured out the issue in less than 2 hours. I won’t discredit the good work they do, but prepare for the stress and frustration when they do something wrong.

I would like to thank Aaron, JP, and all the guys at VL Performance for the modification work that was done on my 2016 Mustang. They really did a great job with the installs and I can really feel a difference in the performance and handling of the car. I really appreciate all of their hard work and highly recommend them to anyone looking to get automotive service or performance work done!

Everytime Ive been to VLP Ive felt very special. The staff is wonderful and very knowledgable. They commuicate very well to make sure I know exactly what they did and I leave knowing more about my car each time. I would recommend VLP to anyone very fun enviroment, knowledgable, and most importantly honest! One of the best perks is that they have a beautiful black lab named Diesel that greets you at the door!

I paid over $1600.0 for an inspection and a dyno. The only thing they found wrong was the plugs needed to be replaced .Went to test drive my car and positive cable came off battery when it came it spiked all electronics ecu, push botton start, security, electronic gauges cost me over $3500.00 in repairs. Had to push car up on trailer. Vlperformance is taking no responsibility. I need to take them to court. Stay far away if your smart

I just want to warn people about this shop. They will be enthusiastic about your build but when they get your money... good luck. They are scam artists and will steal your hard earned money. They talk a good game but fail to provide. They have multiple lawsuits for scamming customers.

I had a great experience getting my ecu/tcu tuned by VL performance. They were very quick to respond to email communication. Within a day and a few emails we had everything hammered out and the next week the car was tuned. Everyone at the shop was very friendly!

Shout out to VL Performance and there team for squeezing my car in to get her winter tires on she is a totally different beast with them on. if u need to get ur winter shoes on ur car hit them they are doing a sale right now 15$ a tire no idea how long the sale goes tell so hit them ASAP

Smooth talker Coty is. I dont know if these reviews are friends or employees! I see the bad reviews have more likes. Dont believe me go give them a try, I Sold the longblock he built for me because I didnt trust him or the build and I was right. My experience was a couple years ago but I continue to hear bad about vl. He offered to make things right but refused to while building my engine. He acted like I was someone who knew nothing and denied I had any concerns until I told him I have the proof I could send him the screen shots. I still did not trust him to make things right by offering free service on a vehicle.

I had a fantastic experience with VL Performance. Did a cam swap and header install on my LS1 Camaro. Everything went smooth and the car made huge power gains thanks to them. The car got a complete tune from Coty at VL Performance. Could not be happier with the outcome. I would suggest them to anyone.

Had the car in for a stubborn electrical issue that I just couldn’t figure out on my own. The tech was very thorough, checked my cats, tested my battery, cleaned contacts, and the best part also fixed the problem.Had them install a full exhaust on the hot rod right away - because “race car.”

Got my 1971 lemans tunes up on the dyno, picked up 108 hp from some timing and jetting

Id give them no stars if I could!! They quoted what I needed done for about $2600 but at the end of it all it ended up being $5000!! Plus they added things to my quote that I never asked them to do! Also after taking it there my turbo was cooked... They also seemed very annoyed when I would call. They took way longer then what they said it would take too... Would not recommend this place to any or my friends or family!!

I called for some information on tuning a vehicle. The guy was extremely helpful and very knowledgeable.

Went in looking for an exhaust system for my 2011 mustang gt, met the fabricators and the owner right away, very kind and warming atmosphere within the shop and you could tell that everyone there has a true passion for their work, I had specific requirements for the exhaust and they exceeded my expectations, fast turn around time, great prices for the amazing work, and I couldnt be happier, the first start up brought nothing but pure happiness, and that happiness is present every time I get in my car, 10/10 times I would go back and plan on going back to have them build the rest of my car, from every day service to mammoth sized builds VL Performance is the obvious choice for me

I modified my exhaust by taking out the cats and adding electric cutouts. After this my cars tune was horribly wrong and I couldnt get the check engine light to stop coming on as a result. I tried putting on o2 sensor simulators to correct the problem. After that failed, I decided to bring my car in and they did a fantastic job. Everyone was super nice and helpful. They explained what was going on and what they would do to correct the problem. They tuned and got the car on the dyno quickly. The car now runs great and I have no more problems! Theyre an awesome shop and I would recommend them to anyone.

Taken a few vehicles here for servicing, They solved issues that no where else could solve, Faster, more professional, and for a great value than the competition could. I will continue to bring my vehicles here and would recommend others to do so. Anyone that rates this business a one star I would assume is only based on their own bias and carrys no merit! Had nothing short of the most knowledgeable team in the state. No where else could figure out the problems with my Audi S4. They had it taken care of in a matter of hours and the customer follow up and keeping me in the loop is Second to NONE. Quoted me for the wrong issue and treated me like a kid that knew nothing. wanted 600 dollars to replace a pump that wouldnt have fixed the issue with my car.

So last week Sunday my ecu chip would not linger read or write a tune. After spending hours going over wiring I found that out Saturday night at 2 in the morning. Called, even though VL is colored on Sunday he left a chip out and left the money. Need the chip to get it to WIR on Friday. On 12-15 psi car went [email protected] spinning all the way through 2nd and right at the lunch. Thank you VL for going out of your way to help me.

Have had nothing but good experiences with the guys at VL. Worked with Sean on my project civic and installed a VTEC head onto a non vtec block, swapped out fuel pumps, new injectors, and a turbo kit all in one weekend. Then Coty threw her on the dyno and took an old Honda with zero power and almost tripled the power out put!! Been a great time getting to know all the guys at the shop and would reccomend them to anyone!

Update-Coty worked very hard to try and make this right by offering a refund of some labor hours and discussing the issues with me. I agreed to give another chance with more work I needed done, and they performed that work adequately at a good price. I had a CEL coming on after the first visit, and its still coming on every couple days. Thus far VLP has been unable to determine why. I do believe they are an OK shop and would have my work done there again.Didnt do half the work I asked for, had my car for 8 days instead of the quoted one, and then blamed having other cars for not doing the work. Charged 3 hours labor for a valave lash check with the valve covers already off, added conventional motor oil to my synthetic without asking, noted oil was low which is amazing since I changed it two days before taking it in, had filled it .2 qt over spec, and hadnt driven it. All of this, and the whole reason I brought it in was to get the motor in solid shape because I have a few grand in performance tuning I want to do, which I told them. Congratulations guys. Not only did you not do the work I asked for, you wont be getting the performance tuning work either.

Easy to deal with - extremely knowledgeable - great communication. Coty & the rest of VL Performance crew go above and beyond!Theyve done a lot of work on my dodge dakota as well as my motorcycle. Just received an insurance quote from an accident as well as a tire quote. Obviously Ill be continuing to go back!

I reached out to VL Performance via Facebook initially to talk about coming into the shop to have a VCDS scan run for an issue that I was having with my 2006 Jetta TDI. I got a response back from Coty almost immediately, even though it was a Saturday afternoon when the shop was technically closed. When I came to the shop to do the scan (that same day), everyone that I dealt with was very friendly and professional (I worked with Ethan and Colin during that visit). A couple weeks later, I sent Coty another message to inquire about an estimate for replacing my dual mass flywheel - again, I received very timely responses to my questions and was quoted a very reasonable price for the work. The work was done in a short time and I was kept in the loop about the status of the job the whole time. I am 100% satisifed with the experience and wouldnt hesitate to recommend these guys for anyone looking for diesel service work or other performance upgrades. Well definitely do business again - thanks!

I waited 2 weeks to get a quote for an 80k mile service for my JSW before I e-mailed to ask whats the hold up. I was told it was into the mechanic for pricing. I waited 2 more weeks before i gave up and went somewhere else. Really bummed me out.

Brought in my Porsche 911 for an inspection and oil change. Great staff with tons of knowledge and the quality of work to back it up. Plans are to have performance upgrades completed very soon and this is the correct place for them to be completed.
