I agree with Amanda Lynn ๐ฏ. She is telling the truth. I lived here a long time so Ive experienced how rude Diane could be and prejudice and how she does play favorites. She does allow certain residents to have more than two pets because I live near a couple different people who has more than two pets; I have proof. If theres ever a resident thats being a problem, dont expect anything to get resolved because it wont be resolved by Diane. There are so many complaints on these reviews, & from my experience, I dont understand how Diane has been a manager for so many years. Ive been here as long as she has. I also have to deal with a half working stove & half working refrigerator, because I tell her about it but she just ignores me. And please dont refer me the number down to the office because thats where the problem lies. The only good thing I like about these apartments is, the location, the price, the views, & the apartment itself. The response from the owner is untrue because the stove & refrigerator was never repaired. I should know because I lived there for several years with half working appliances. The best choice I made was to move out of there! I do NOT recommend ANYONE to live at Sunrise Apartments.
I lived here for sometime, & the management is horrible. The maintenance is also horrible because the tasks are not completed, & they are not completed correctly. I know this because unfortunately I have experienced these certain issues. Good thing I dont own this apartment because I wouldnt want him to work on a place that I own. I WOULD NOT recommend renting from Sunrise apartments.
Started out reasonable enough but the longer Im here, the more I dislike it. This year they raised rent by $65/month and when I called to inquire why, they said because of covid. I think if anything, covid has saved them money because they didnt have to maintenance the pool last summer, sooo I dont know why covid would warrant an increase. Ive lived here less than 3 years and rent has gone up 12%. They claim to be underpriced but appliances are outdated and dont really work properly; windows and the front door are super drafty and I usually get some snow inside during winter. Laundry facilities have ruined my clothes more than once and the washer/dryers always break down mid-cycle. I can also corroborate those complaining that some tenants seem to be allowed to break the pet policy, while others arent. Its not the worst place in the world to live, especially since its right by the mountains and theres no pet rent, but if I had the funds to move, I would.
Just an average apartment complex, no fancy amenities or upgraded appliances. One of the windows in the bedrooms had a gap in it and it would produce a horrible whistling noise and keep me up during windy nights. The maintenance guy, Humberto, was incredibly nice and always timely with requests. However, this place advertises itself as pet friendly and that Pets are Welcome Here but this is untrue.I got a puppy 9 months into my lease and had an ESA letter from my doctor. Diane said the ESA Letter only waived the pet fees, and does not allow for any rule changes, which is untrue. I went back to the office and spoke with Cynthia and she gave me a Reasonable Accommodation request form. After I filled this out and returned it, I was informed that I would not be able to have the dog on the property until the request was approved. Luckily, I have amazing friends that let me and my dog stay with them while this got sorted out. I received a letter from Shelley Harper (property manager) a few days later that did not approve or deny my reasonable accommodation request. What I thought would be a 2 week wait to see if I could have my dog on the property turned into a 6 week nightmare filled with phone calls, lots of research into the Fair Housing Act, and not being able to live in my apartment with my dog. As someone who already does not handle stress well, this almost sent me over the edge. I contacted a friend who is a lawyer and they suggested I send in a second accommodation request that was more specific. This request was approved and my puppy and I were able to be in the apartment for the last 2.5 months of my lease. After this, Diane was rude and standoffish towards me when I came into the office. I obviously did not renew my lease. If I had the time, energy, or dealt with stress better, I would go through the hassle of filing a complaint with the Department of Housing and Urban Development, but this review will have to do.
By far the worst place Ive ever had to deal with. Long story short it goes like this, me and my partner decided to by a house, the deal fell through and left the two of us scrambling to find a place to live. So, we decided to apply here, theyre cheap, located close to my current residence and very pet friendly. to good to be true! Dealing with Cynthia was a pleasant experience for the most part however, Diane was quite the opposite. Me and my partner submitted our applications, crossed all the Ts and dotted all the Is. now, rest assured during the process we felt like we were being screened for the NSA. they called EVERYONE on our applications, mothers, fathers, co-workers, ect. There was a 5 month gap in my rental history in which I resided with a former freind whom I no longer speak to. They wanted me to call him and have him verify I lived there? Mind you, this has NEVER been a problem with any previous applications. When my partner dropped off the proof of vaccinations Diane practically interrogated my parter, asking where we met, how long weve been together, asked if we had friends along with other extremely personal questions that quite frankly made my parter feel extremely uncomfortable. When she asked if we had friends, my partner replied, No we really dont Which is true. Were a very introverted couple and very selective with who we hang around. Diane very snarkly replied, So youre telling me youve lived here your whole life and dont have any friends!? Just when we thought it was over, we were denied. Reason Being, I was late on a rent payment from a previous residence from over a year ago. Again, this has NEVER been an issue with any applications. I even payed the late fees no questions asked. Since then, Ive never been late again. However, my partner was denied because she didnt meet the 1.5x rent requirment. However, I alone make the rent payment in one week! If you were to combine our incomes we would quintuple the rent requirement for income! In conclusion, I will be filing a formal complaint with the proper channels. I had high hopes, and wish it would have worked out.
Absolutely horrible, they just want your application fees.
Diane is rude. Horrbile person. Do not rent here ever.
Ive been living here for the past two years and I couldnt be happier. The management is always very friendly and always gets on top of any issues I have right away. The maintenance is also top notch! It isnt fancy, but its very comfortable. The neighbors are also really wonderful and spend a lot of time talking to each other and being friendly. And of course you cant beat their pet policy of letting each resident have two big dogs. Oh and you cant beat the great view of the valley and the mountains. Its just lovely! The only concern I have with the place is that some kids or something go around the parking lot at night and test the door handles of all the cars. If you dont remember to lock your car they will rummage through all your stuff and take super random things. But if you remember to lock your car every night its not an issue.
I never really got to know my neighbors or community, but I always felt safe here. Management is great about scheduling repairs, and helped a number of times to work around my schedule and get my packages to me. Management is kind, and always made me and my kids feel welcome whenever we dropped in. I dont love the card-system for laundry, but its a small complaint for an affordable apartment, well-maintained in a good part of town. I never witnessed any violence or particularly suspicious activity. Worst I ever observed were a handful of slightly loud parties and some parking lot break-ins. For a dog friendly apartment complex, grounds are extremely well maintained, and while I never really made use of the pool, it always appeared clean and relaxed.
I wish we lived here, nice place, very pet friendly.
I dont normally leave reviews, but today is our 1 year anniversary of moving here to the Sunrise apartments, and I want to tell you how happy I am because of this move. Ill try to make this review as succinct as possible.I did so much research in finding just the right apartment in ABQ. My wife and I moved from out of state and had a brindle pitbull at the time and wanted a place that would or could welcome him. Out of 200 or so apartments on the cabq.gov website I found the Sunrise to be the best choice out of only a handful. First of all they allow any breed of dog with no weight restrictions and no monthly pet fees. After leaving a message, Laurinda at the front desk called to tell me she could hold the apartment for me as we would be coming in to town to check things out. Diane at the front desk was willing to show us her own apartment so that we would know what our apartment would be similar to since everything was occupied at the moment.Diane and Laurinda have been very kind to us since our stay here. And any request for maintenance which by the way have only been minor things such as clogged drains have been taken care of rather quickly by Humberto. He is the maintenance man and he is very polite, happy and good at what he does. Everyone loves him.I like that there are very few amenities here. I think it keeps the costs low. Currently our apartment is $660 per month. Thats very good considering the location, nestled up close to the foothills. There is a pool that is nice and not overcrowded. There are also trails nearby for bicycle riding or walking with nice grassy parks nearby. There are spectacular vistas that overlook the landscape to the west and the sunsets of color are peaceful with a constant cool evening breeze. The residents are quiet and pleasant. There is a lot of space and open air which helps with noise pollution. Ive only seen about a half dozen drunken loud quarrels from my window in the parking lot facing the Circle K within the year. It takes place at night, with the help of alcohol by young and naive residents and their young and naive guests. It doesnt last long, then its over. This stuff happens everywhere though. This place is for people who are good tenants and who pick up after their dog, which some dont, and who are not obnoxiously loud. This place is actually very peaceful. The landscaping is very tasteful, and the trees are trimmed well. One of the things I liked about the feel of this place was the lack of reviews. Usually people leave reviews when theyre unhappy with something. This place had a good feel although there is one bad review. You can analyze a review to see whats really beneath the surface. When a review makes sweeping statements such as people are moving out in droves you can usually count on the fact that people are not literally moving out in large numbers. In short, you can learn to discount the reviews who tend to complain for whatever reason. In my opinion, this place has everything my family needs, and the management are pleasant and kind, and they make sure it stays this way.
Avoid at all costs: Management is biased and abusive. Good people are leaving in droves. Bad behavior is increasingly common around the complex.A few really decent human beings still left living here, but more good folks keep moving out.The management is real bad. Management is disrespectful, and has distinct biases: Veterans, young couples (particularly unmarried couples), and the disabled are singled out by the management (Diane Michal, and the off-site manager Shelly Harper), and treated extremely unfavorably. Management also plays Favorites, giving special privileges and allowances to friends and liked residents, while denying those same things to other residents.Rules are enacted and enforced against the disfavored residents, that are not in the lease agreement. When these violations are brought up with management, the issue will be dropped for a time, and then the imagined rule will again attempt to be enforced; The end result of this is that they will simply deny lease renewal to any resident who doesnt comply with their bullying. My wife and I were verbally abused by the manager, Diane Michal, on several occasions because she did not approve of the loudness of our son (an infant), and disliked my wife for being a Disabled Veteran. The only thing worth a star at Sunshine is the excellent handyman, Humberto, who is a true gem; A very competent tradesman, and jack of all trades who approaches full mastery of each and every task. The neighbors are wonderful; The handyman excellent; And the management petty, abusive, bigoted and deeply biased. Living here could be a joy, but only if you are a select sort of person of whom the management approves. You will be judged on sight, and never able to prove to them otherwise.Avoid, at all costs.
