This is one of the few establishments on Purdue’s campus that is not part of some larger corporation trying to exploit college students. Overall, I am extremely happy with my experiences at Hi Vine and with the entire Weida staff! I had leased from Weida in 2019 and transitioned to Rise in 2020, then immediately returned to Weida in 2021. The staff has always been accommodating to my needs and fixed any necessary repairs in a heartbeat. I have recommended Weida to all my friends because I know they will always take care of you.I have lived in 5 different apartment properties and the two times I have been at Weida have by far been the best. The apartments have been in immaculate condition both times I moved in and I never got funds withdrawn from my security deposit because I responsibly took care of my apartment. I had a Wi-Fi issue at move-in and the leasing office made it their number one priority to get it fixed. Despite mixed responses from visiting technicians, the leasing office pulled several strings to get me up and running. Furthermore, I had a faulty dryer and it got replaced within two days. It is very unfortunate that people tend to only write reviews when something bad happens, this company has been a true pleasure to work with and I only have good things to say!
I have lived at Weida at the new Hi Vine complex for 7 months and I have a lot of positive things to say overall. Amy and the entire team in the office has always been very nice to us.Hi Vine specifically had a few issues early on - as any new building would but the rooms are very spacious and the building itself is very nice.I considered myself a good tenant, and I never had any problems. Weida was always working with us to accomodate us, whether it be with parking, unique requests, and one time they even paid for my parking ticket once when I was having issues moving in.I have lived at 3 different apartments on campus - each with a different leasing company. I can confidently say that Weida is WAY better than Granite. Theyre not going to hide anything from you - just be sure to read the fine print in your lease so you dont have any surprises later on. As long as you dont trash your apartment and are good, respectful tenants you wont have a problem here (which is the expectation anywhere!)The only downside in my mind was that the apartment was put together using inexpensive materials. There was only a primer on the walls with no paint in Hi Vine, which scratches/marks very easily. Put pads on things that will touch the wall if youre living here.If youre on the fence with living here - come in with an open mind and dont get caught up in other negative reviews. If youre respectful and take care of the space youll be happy here.
Absolutely the worst place I’ve ever lived. Things were falling apart day 1 and they still took our entire security deposit and wanted to charge us more. But hey at least rents cheap, but you get what you pay for.
There’s nothing in the lease about lockout fees or key replacement fees. I locked myself out of my apartment and I was forced to venmo the PERSONAL account of an employee (i’m assuming she worked there but i had no verification of that) before they would even leave their location to aid me. A steep fee of $100 was the cost for my keys falling off the broken key ring that they gave me. It didn’t go through the property, so I have no idea if it was actually supposed to be $100 or if they kept someone it or all of it for themselves. And there’s nothing on the website about who the property manager or the owner of the company is so I cannot send my complaints anywhere, because for all I know they could go straight to that person.UPDATE: The property manager contacted me and together we figured out that I had an incomplete copy of the lease (that was uploaded to my portal) and that is why there was nothing about Lockout Fees. Now that I have my complete lease I now know that Lockout Fees during a Holiday is $100, and I was only charged $50 which was generous. I was also informed that the key ring they gave me was a temporary tag and was never meant to be used as a key ring. If I had been told this when I picked up my keys I wouldve bought myself a new ring, but I assumed because it had my apartment label on it I needed to keep it in order to make sure they received the correct keys when I returned them. And as for the personal venmo, I was informed that the portal was down over the weekend. However, I still stand by my original review because that was my experience in the moment and my true feelings. If I couldve waited 3 days to get into my apartment I wouldve, and if I had had a full copy of lease and all of the knowledge that I do now maybe my experience couldve been different. I was asked to delete my review because it was untrue. My knowledge and perceptions were stunted during the experience but my emotions and feelings were true. Now all of the correct information is here, and you may take this review however youd like.
I lived at Weida for a year and it’s an average apartment to live in. It’s all good till you recieve your deposit back . They charge hefty amounts for cleaning even though you do your best to leave the apartment in the same state as you first moved in. If you are ready to lose more than 50 percent of your deposit, please go ahead and sign a lease at Weida !There are a lot of really good apartments in WL for the same rent!
I have rented from Weida for 5 months and have ZERO complaints. Their apartments are pet friendly and located close to everything! They keep great care of their properties. EVERY SINGLE maintenance issue I have reported has been taken care of immediately. Renting from Weida is truly a pleasure.
Wanted to rent an apartment, applied to it and got denied because of insufficient income. Called back and asked if they had checked savings, they said they hadnt and told me they would check and call the next week (I called on a friday). Called the next week multiple times and every time, the person was not available to answer my calls or said Call tomorrow at xx hour and at that time she was not available. Finally, I was not called to determine if the savings were or not enough for renting the place. Most people have problems with their landlords after they move in, Weida seems to show how they behave ahead of time, which is better I guess.
Recently leased an apartment through Weida last semester and I’ve never had an easier experience working with a leasing office. They were extremely fair on pricing, and there are a lot of options for living around campus. It really makes a difference leasing from a family owned business.
I moved out in May 2017 (i just got done filling out a survey for my current apartment building and was reminded of this hell hole). The office staff was mostly good. Im not trying to generalize but basically everyone was nice EXCEPT the older women. My roommate said they were nice to her but my god they were so rude to me for no reason. Unfortunately these women are the ones you will deal with most of the time. Also dont both calling their number because they will not pick up and you will hear the voicemail redirect you to another number that will not pick up.I lived above their old office (the one on Northwestern across from the fire station) so I had a little bit of a different experience than most. (I know you remember me Weida women). So mid February 2017 they gave us 2 weeks to move out because March 1 they were going to start TEARING DOWN THE BUILDING. My roommate and I only found out because we went down to ask a random question, and they were like oh by the way... They said they were going to tell us soon but two weeks?? Seriously?? And they had the audacity to contact me before March 1 multiple times to ask when I was getting the last of my stuff. Yes they saved us an apartment two blocks away, but during midterm season during both of our last semester of senior year, we didnt have time for that. Plus the new apartment was MUCH smaller. My roommate had to take furniture home. I couldnt do that so I had to cram everything in and keep stuff on the porch (that got rained on so then it was thrown away). They shouldnt have let us renew our lease the previous summer is there was even a CHANCE of that happening (they had to of known this was in the plans). My roommate and I only renewed because the thought of moving sounded absolutely horrible.. the stairs in that building were pure torture for moving.I put on a happy face to them because I was scared of getting charged by them when we moved out. But that was such a horrible experience. Luckily we didnt get charge for anything stupid like others did but I think thats because they tore our building down with little notice.I highly doubt you would have to deal with that situation but the fact that they even did it to us (we were the only tenants in the building at the time) just shows you what kind of company they are.
Their management has been amazing in my experience. Every issue I have shared has been resolved in a day or lesser! Couldnt ask for better.
If I could give 0 stars I would. 1) I had black mold in my air conditioner and in my bathroom everywhere. When I called about the issue they came, sprayed it out with water, and put it back in the wall. 2) They will take as much of your deposit as they can & over charge you for everything they say is wrong at the end of your lease. 3) They do not care about you... all they care about is money.I highly recommed AVOIDING this company at all costs.
Weida has been a great fit. Its a nice place and in the perfect location, so it had everything I was looking for! It was a plus that its a pretty quiet property. Im happy I found them.
Leased for a year. Some communication mishaps, but was overall happy with them. Maintenance service was prompt (as long as you call Weida; never email them). Apartment was old but well kept up. Cheaper materials can be more difficult to keep clean, but low price for good locations reflect this.
I did a 12 month lease in a 1 bedroom apartment during the 14-15 school year on River road. First, the apartment that they gave me was dirty initially. I usually walk barefoot in my apartment and I distinctly remember the soles of my feet were pitch black (no exaggeration) from all of the accumulated dirt. Along with the first point, the second was that they took so much of my security deposit at the end for cleaning fees. I honestly believe they didnt even bother cleaning my apartment because I did them a favor by cleaning and maintaining it while I was there. Third, I was on the ground floor and there were so many bugs in my apartment. I did my best the repel them but they even managed to get through.About the service, they didnt seem to really care about whether I was a tenant or not. I usually had to drop off my rent at their office (convenient because it was close to my classes) and they always had a long line.Overall, I would not recommend this landlord unless if youre desperate to find a place to live.
Its a good place close to campus that is pretty cheap, but you get what you pay for. The staff is very caring and understanding, but there are a lot of cob webs, spider egg nests, and old wasps nests, in the building (I reported it and it still hasnt been taken care of). Also, know that their laundry facilities are kind of expensive (at least in the 271 S. River Road apartments) so you may want to take your laundry elsewhere. Ive only lived here for a couple of months, so these are the only problems I know about.
Please pay attention if you are going to live in Weida Apartment. First, do NOT trust the good reviews on this website because some of them are not real. Two of my friends were charged for a late fee because Weida said they did not receive the rent in the first three days in that month. But actually my friends do pay on time and after they showed the bank proof to Weida, Weida said OK, if you write good reviews on the website, I will reverse the late fee. Is it ridiculous? They are not due a late fee but have to write something good and then will not be charged for that. So I have to say be careful with some good reviews here. They are probably misleading.Because I was referred by my friends, I thought this would be a good place (at least at that time, my friends did not have trouble with Weida). However, when we moved out, no matter how clean your apartment is, they will still deduct money for cleaning from your deposit. This happened to my friends and u0010I. We always get deposit back when living in other apartment, but if you are going to live in Weida, be prepared that your deposit will never be back to you. Besides cleaning fee, there will be all other kind of fees that will deduct from your deposit though you think you cleaned your apartment thoroughly and no problems with any things in the apartment. So I definitely would not recommend people living in Weida due to these ridiculous extra charges.
Great experience living with Weida - I reported my oven wasn’t working (during a time I know was probably the busiest of the year for them) and management had it replaced with a brand new one within 24 hours!! Can’t express enough how thankful I am for the staff’s timeliness and help.
I really like the apartment I have. I havent had to make many calls to maintenance or anything but from the few times I have I can say that they were nice and got back to me right away. The owners are nice too, everything is kept very organized.
Weida is the worst. I would go into their office to talk to them about a problem I was having and have them tell me one thing. Then have them call/email, or I would talk to them about why the problem hadn’t been resolved, and have them tell me something else, and deny that they had told me the first thing. This ended up costing me money for things that weren’t my fault to begin with. For example when I moved in, the locks on my window didn’t work. I complained and was told not to worry, they would fix it when I moved out. Which is illegal. They have to give you a way to secure the windows and doors on your apartment. Despite constantly complaining, they never fixed the windows and then tried to charge me for breaking the locks when I moved out. Then there’s the fact that they don’t keep up with building maintenance, such as snow removal, salting when there is ice, fixing outside lights, keeping the washers and dryers in working order. I slipped and fell after an ice storm because they never put down salt or anything else to combat the ice. When you complain about any of this, the office will blow you off and try to galight you about it.When you move out they will do everything they can to keep you money. Ignore the move out checklist they give your, they’ll charge you for cleaning even if you follow it step-by-step. You can appeal, but they will ignore the cleaning part of your appeal. When you turn in your keys, make sure you do it in person, and get a receipt. If you don’t, they will claim you never retuned it and try to charge you. I suggest making them walk through the apartment with you when you move out so that you can get them to sign something saying that the apartment was left in good repair.I know the apartments are cheap, but the headache of dealing with Weida isn’t worth it. Spend the extra cash and get a landlord with morals.
Very friendly people with very good customer service. They are a family operated business with that kind of feel on their leasing office. The only reason I cant give them 5 stars is due to the fact they can be difficult to reach on the phone at times due to their smaller staff. Its barely a problem, but enough to mention. A great rental company on Purdues campus! Would definitely recommend!
Coming to Purdue from so far away it was nice to have a pleasant renting experience. Ive appreciated all of their friendliness and how responsive theyve been anytime I need it. Thanks to everyone at Weida.
I wish that 3.5 stars was an option, because that is how I would like to rate Weida. Having lived off campus at Purdue going on four years, I can say say that Weida is not perfect, but they are far from the worst leasing company around.Several other reviewers have mentioned difficulty when moving out due to miscommunication regarding their move out date, and I can confirm this, as I was also charged for late move out. I resigned a lease with them and assumed my new lease would extend 365 days from the old lease. Though I was never provided with a new lease, I was charged for late move out because I had not vacated by May 30th (1 day before what I understood to be my move out date). HOWEVER, upon following the proper procedure for contesting move-out charges, Weida did negotiate a fair solution that satisfied both parties. My experience leasing from them (apart from moving out) was very pleasant, and I do recommend them. That said, I definitely recommended you stay on top of your move out conditions, as charges can be steep, but they are much better than other companies, such as Granite and Cochran, that I have rented from in the past.
Living here has been great so far. Weida takes care of everything so it makes things pretty hassle free. The pricing is fair especially when management really does do a lot.
I had bad experience here. I lived in the second floor of a house which is own by Weida. Weida didnt rent the first floor out at that time. However the switch of heater which controls both floors is located in the first floor. So we have to ask Weida to turn the heater on if the weather get cold. It was pretty cold in West Lafayette in the winter and we asked them about three times to turn heater on with no result. Actually they did promise to turn it on but just ignored it after we left. Since Weida should pay for the heating fee and nobody lived in the first floor, they wanted to save money. They just kept us staying in that freezing cold house! I think they cared more about money other than tenants. For gods sake they finally turned heater on but that was a pretty bad time. By the way, as you can see from others comments, they do deduct relatively more money from your deposit which can hardly be seen in other apartments. I wont recommend anyone to live here.
Property staff does not care about how the property looks. There is constant trash surrounding the dumpsters that has been there and keeps growing since I have lived here. Maintenance is rude and unprofessional. Office staff are unhelpful. Information about breaking lease is not in lease document. Would not recommend.
I have had so many horrible experiences with Weida I dont even know where to begin. They have the WORST customer service I have ever seen, and thats saying something. If I could rank them NO STARS I would. but to post this I have to rank them something. The ONLY good thing about Weida is that they have apartments on campus. Wow. If you can, avoid talking to the dirty blonde with curly hair who looks like she wants to murder you.Weida only cares about one thing: Money, money, and more money. You probably wont get your deposit back so say bye to that. They are possibly the rudest, most ignorant people I have ever had the pleasure of speaking to. Forget asking them any questions. They will probably think you have an IQ of 5. Also if you every over pay them and need to get a check from them...have fun. I went in asking my my check. And the blonde I was talking about earlier was so confused it was painful. It took much too long for her to understand what I wanted. GOOD LORD really?....I know I am not the only one that over paid. My roommates did as well. And you treated the exact same way. If someone goes in asking fro a check YOU SHOULD FIRST ASK THEM THEIR NAME AND NOT ACT LIKE A COMPLETE IDIOT. Obviously theyre in there for a reason. Please....treat us like respectable humans and we will treat you like respectable humans. But I dont respect people who act like this. For anyone looking for an apartment got Granite. They treated me so well and I was highly satisfied with their customer service. They actually smiled at me....I dont think Ive ever seen anyone from Weida smile. Also, after reading these posts I find it quite hilarious how Weida ignores people that talk about their horrible customer service and will only focus on one thing they talked about and I find all of their responses rude. So Weida, I cant wait to see what you focus on in this review....If you have to rent from Weida just know what youre getting yourself into.
What I love about the apartments is the location. It is super nice, also I think the maintenance people handled all my problems in a timely manner. They were all solved super fast.
The place is a dump. They never clean the halls or stairways. There are stains all over the carpet and they hose you big time on your security deposit when you move out. The rent is about twice the amount it should be, they are slum lords getting rich off the backs of college kids. The only good thing about this place is the location. I would not recommend!
The apartment mangement is good. They are quick in responding. Helpful but have pretty early closing time. But some of the fines are shady. You woudnt know if your an international students. They fine you for not changing the electricity bill to your name by the lease date. Nobody informed us of this, it would have been nice if they let us know.
Ive told friends at Purdue about Weida Apartments and how nice its been living there. The location cant be better and the apartments are great. Ive been really happy with living here.
I have to say, I have been here for a couple years now and I have yet to experience anything less than exceptional. I love renting from this apartment complex, it definitely is such a great place to live!
Friendly staff, thats willing to work with you. Called the office to report my microwave wasnt working, and they sent maintenance in a timely manner.
I would certainly suggest this apartment complex to anyone that is looking for a beautiful place as well as affordable! I love that they furnished the apartment as well, that is a bonus.
Worst rental company in the world- I don’t think they understand the fundamentals of running a business, including customer service. All they care about is taking your money, if they were so into making money they should’ve chosen a different industry, but they obviously aren’t smart enough.
Woman I spoke with on the phone was very unpleasant and unwilling to answer my question that would have required her to look up a SMALL detail regarding sublease information. As a tenant who has not had any previous issues, altercations, and is always kind, I AT LEAST expect a friendly tone when calling the office.
I rented from Weida Apartments for 3 years while I was in college at Purdue. It was the first company I scheduled visits with and being a first time renter I was a little anxious to take the leap from the dorms to off campus living. I could not have been more pleased with the experience I had renting from them. Maintenance requests were easy to make and the problems were fixed within the same day, very rarely did it take more than a day for someone to come out. Emails were answered promptly and the people there are always friendly. It can be intimidating to rent your first apartment but they really do what they can to make it a stress free experience. Im so glad that I continued to rent from them for so long. Highly recommend!
I had a very bad experience with Weida apartments. I stayed there for few months and they deducted around $260 for cleaning the carpet and deposit fees. although i am 100% sure that apt was not clean when i moved there because i could see lot of pins in the carpet and lot of dustiness in the apt but when i told them after i moved they were not responding properly and arguing. the management told that they will review and get back to me but they didnt come back after sending lot of email they started responding. they are good for taking your money but not for return. no maintenance and very disappointing behavior. I would not suggest anyone to stay in their apartments. If you want to loos your deposit and not expecting any maintain ace then you can.
They are very rude, Always justify their deeds and charged me a lot of times for different purposes like carpet cleaning, subleasing... They are not responsible at all and whenever i wanted to address my concerns they hung up on me and told me you are harassing us! I mean what the heck! I politely asked them several times to transfer me to managers and nothing! These guys really took advantage of my emergency moving situation, not responsible for maintenance, safety and garbage cleaning as well. Never ever contact them or god forbid live there!
What stuck out to me about these apartments is the location. I really like where it is, also they are really quick to response to any problems or concerns. I would suggest this place to others, especially college students because of the convenient of the location.
The management are very nice people and when you need to contact them they normally respond in a timely manner. My apartment so far has met most of my expectations.
Weida is an Apartment complex that worries about one thing; Money. They dont take their residents seriously and once youre ready to move out, they will find anything and everything to charge you for. Be warned my friends, Weida is not worth the hassle.
I wish I could rated 0 or negative. This is the most terrible living experience. The only advantage to live in Weidas is their location-on campus. Other than that, the apartments are super old and smell like your grandma, the leasing office people are mean and not helpful (they wave their hands when there is a problem), and the rents are NOT cheap... Yes, as other comments said, you will be charged no matter how much clean your apartment is when you move out, and this literally NEVER happened to me when I lived anywhere else in West Lafayette (I ALWAYS get my deposit back!). I mean, if you have a car, live away from the campus, or you can try some other on-campus apartment, which are much cleaner, fancier but more expensive.
Weida has some great apartments. I love the look of mine and Im sure Ill be here a while!
Management is very unprofessional. They make it seem like any issue or concern you have is an inconvenience to them, and they do their best to blow you off and hope you will just ignore the issue. My roommate and I live on the 3rd floor and have had to report our A/C unit as broken 3 times now in the past 3 weeks. Rather than replace the old unit that clearly isnt working, they keep attempting to fix it every couple weeks, just for the unit to break again within a few days. We call as soon as the unit breaks to report the issue, and management is very rude over the phone. The last time we called it took maintenance an entire week to get out to our apartment and fix the A/C again. After this 3rd time, it still does not work and they continue to not give us a new unit. Very unsatisfied with the level of professionalism and respect by Weida Management.
This place is awesome and I think everyone should look into staying here!
Weida is helpful and quick to respond to maintenance or other issues. Its pretty stress free to live with Weida.
Staff- Communicating with their staff, for me and my exroommates, was extra unnecessary stress for us because of the way they responded. Very rude responses to us and often missed the point of our questions. I would recommend renting through something else, maybe Granite or Evergreen rentals instead.Parking - Towed my car out of the spot I parked in because my tag fell, costing me $150+ but never towed the cars we called about that were not supposed to be parked there.Apartment itself- 219 Waldron. It was okay/good for college living. A couple years, newly (cheep but nice) renovated kitchen cabinets and counter. You could hear people talking above you easily and the floor squeaked loudly above us. Certain light fixtures went through lightbulbs quickly.
Really awesome location and the people couldnt be any friendlier. Anytime I needed help they were there and working with them has been awesome.
The location is very nice. What I really appreciate about this apartment complex is that they solve any problems you may have very quickly.
Horrible experience. If you decide to live here, keep EVERY piece of paper that is documentation with them. All of my roommates thought our move out date was the 31st however they knocked on our door on the 25th and said we were supposed to be out. Then we fought it with them because they whited out the dates on the orginal contracts (which is illegal) and they told us we could take it to court but wouldnt win. Then we agreed they would let us stay until the 28th with No ADDITIONAL FEES and got that agreement in writing. They then proceeded to tell us that we owe $180 for being out late. Again we tried to fight and they didnt help at all. They also said we owed another months rent even though all my roommates were sure we paid. When we asked for documentation of payment they said their systems were down and they handwrote what we have paid on a piece of notebook paper. They WILL try to take advantage of you if you decide to go with them. It was a nightmare living with weida.
The building is so old that the ground makes noises as long as you are walking in the room, and the staff wouldnt come to fix anything I requested and they still charged me cleaning fee no matter what. And dont even get me started on the bugs.
Seemed like a good place to live at first, but problems arose early on. They give you notices to renew your lease but do not set an exact date you have to renew by. If you dont feel like resigning about a year in advance (which most people dont know that far ahead whether they want to or not) then they basically sign it to someone else without even notifying you. Office is bad at getting back to you when you have questions and can be rude at times. The apartments are not well-kept, landscaping is poor, trash is everywhere outside, snow removal is not done in a timely manner and maintenance takes forever. Poor lighting outside, which I am sure has lead to the various crime reports in the area. Laundry room only has a few washers and dryers, which are always full or not working. They also charge you hundreds of dollars for cleaning at move out (even if your apartment is squeaky clean when leaving). Cheap prices but bad customer service.
Forget your deposit. They do not even bother to answer your e-mails about deposit return.
Accidentally locked myself out of my apartment at 5am on a Friday morning. Called the EMERGENCY number an insane amount of times, just to get NO RESPONSE. Had to pay $97.50 for a locksmith to come out and unlock my door for me. Weida clearly doesnt care about their tenants. Why is there even an emergency number in place if theyre just not going to answer it???
Weida has the best property locations and it is so worth the price. Im very glad we decided to rent through them and I highly suggest it!
Worst staff ever. I could go on for days about how rude and lazy this office is. Would not recommend. Give your money to someone else.
The staff members there have a very negative attitude. When I visit their office for questions, instead of trying to help answer, they become hostile and try to intimidate you. Their general attitude is when you ask questions, they treat it as if you are protesting and complaining.
The positive reviews on here focus mainly on their complex or building, which varies based on which property you live in. Some Weida units are decent at best, most are aging and falling apart, and Weida does so very little to actually fix anything in their units. Have no respect or even concern for the tenants (mostly students) and do not attempt to hide the fact that they make their money by taking advantage of their own tenants. My fiancee was unable to get a parking permit in her unit, because Weida only issues two (2) parking permits for the 4-tenant unit. They expect the other two tenants to find street parking. When she called to ask about purchasing a parking permit from a tenant who may not have a car (after seeing a parking spot open all semester), she was repeatedly told they were too busy to deal with it. After parking in the lot for a couple hours one day, her car was towed for a $140 fee. After addressing the issue with Weida, they refused to help with the tow fee and blamed her. This staff are some of the most unprofessional, rude individuals I have encountered. Weida as a business cares for nothing more than the rent they receive, and leave the tenants out to dry consistently.
Disappointed in managements inclination. I am not a college student. Id like to be treated like an adult.
The worst apartments ever, they will charge you for no reason!! worst apartments!!!
Very below average apartment company. Do not expect any good service or kind people to help you out. This just isnt the place for all that. You get what you pay for and they will try to get every penny out of you for the smallest of things, be it maintenance or security deposits.
I posted a negative review and was threatened with a lawsuit.
