While the apartments are nice, a little on the small side, the walls are extremely thin. The rent is also pretty expensive for what the apartment is, given that the trash rooms seem to break every week and itll take the apartment management weeks to clean up any liquid that is dropped in the hallways. Possibly one of the most annoying things is that management will do room checks not at the hours they advertise! I understand needing to fix the apartment, but every single time they have come to check rooms or fire alarms, its at a time not listed in their email (either multiple days early or multiple days late), and usually very early in the morning meaning I have woken up to strange men in my apartment multiple times, when they are not expected to be there. Not fun.

This is the absolute worst company I have ever had the displeasure of renting from. Their payment system is absolutely flawed. They struggle to accept your payments. Barring you for the entire year if you make a mistake for your payment to only be able to use the archaic money-order or cashier checks. On top of that, youre sleeping in the space of a walk-in-closet with white-washed rooms for a miserable modern look. The walls which absorb the color of anything that comes into contact with them. Not to mention the significant year round struggle with internet. Despite the high-speed internet they claim to have, it dropped all the time. They have good people working there, but that is the only major upshot that I can think of. However, I have had troubles with management year round, it always felt that they didnt actually care about me, just the money I gave them. On top of that, they are price gouging students now for apartments that they will gladly sell at 2/3 the price they are making you pay now as someone who got to stay in a 2-bed for ~650$/month because they couldnt get people to pay as much as they wanted for basically a bedroom sized kitchen and living room space with closets for bedrooms. If you think this is worth anything more than 700$/month you either have too much money to care or you havent actually gone inside and looked around other apartments or houses. Youd get a better deal at Purdues expensive room and board.

Overall Nice place to live. The smart home features are pretty cool, but most of us only use them from time to time. The building is nice, the internet is super fast (on Ethernet. Wifi is average) and the maintenance people are quick to get back to you when you file a service request. Our AC broke and they had a guy here in less than an hour.TL;DR: I recommend this place if you can get in. Its a nice place to live even if its a long walk to campus.

2nd year here and its honestly not worth it. Your cold air doesnt work for half the year because they turn it off and are worried about the pipes freezing when its been below zero and they would freeze regardless if it was an issue, but its not. That alone makes the cost of living here not worth it. The cold air will heat the room ironically. There is so much empty space in between the walls, near the washing machine, and lucky me, my apartment neighbors speakers are in the same corner where my bed. Not only does that amplify the bass frequencies even more, but it shakes the walls even more and my wooden bed, which is like an acoustic guitar for it. Yeah neighbors play music and thats a part of apartment living but when they literally do not care about their neighbors and constantly play techno house music till 3-5am (even during business days), it can definitely be annoying to say the least. There should be a noise complaint submission thing in the resident portal or something.

Lived here for the 2019-2020 school year. It was clear that in the days leading up to opening they were rushing to make the place presentable (crude/incomplete landscaping, sawdust in the rooms, unimplemented amenities). Im willing to forgive this though as things did progress adequately throughout the year.Overall, the place was excellent. Great location, good quality appliances, and an all-around sense of comfort. The internet did have some hiccups (as many have pointed out), and the smart home tech took a dive every once in a while, but I can chalk these up as nuisances and not make spectacles out of them. However, one thing that most definitely peeved me was the air conditioning bureaucracy. My body is a radiator, and it can be very difficult for me to sleep if my room isnt cool. I understand turning the units off for the winter, but once freezing pipes is no longer a possibility, there is NO reason why they shouldnt be able to be on. Instead, Aspire had this arbitrary 80 degrees outside or 75 degrees inside criteria that had to be met. I dont know if this was put in place by Aspires management specifically, or if its Balfour Beattys general policy, but it is hilariously dumb and arbitrary either way.

Im going to go ahead and preface this review with the fact this is my first year living with Aspire and my first apartment on campus.Pros:-Clean-Modern look-Smart Home system-Furniture that is supplied is very niceCons:-Poor construction: The walls are made of a very flimsy material and get marks on them from almost anything, bathrooms get dusty and the air vent has to be cleaned, doors dont always lock so Ive come home to my door being completely open because the hinge had to be fixed.-Internet: Especially with a lot of people moving to online classes now, you would think that this would be a priority. Connections are spotty and inconsistent, the up/down speed on wireless is horrendous, and Ive had to resort to using the access point for the entire building instead of the one assigned to my room because its nearly unusable. I dont want to hear a single comment about oh well talk to the ISP about your issues -- this shouldnt be something a tenant is dealing with if they arent the ones who signed the contract with the ISP, and even if you do contact them youre not going to get anything resolved. Unless Im wired into the ethernet port (which you get one of by the way -- us peasants should be grateful to be blessed with any at all I guess), my Zoom calls for class or my fraternity constantly drop and make being productive impossible.-Parking: This is by far the thing that infuriates me the most about this complex. Im not sure how the zoning works for the Discovery Park area, but I see quite a few parking lots around the area and its mind boggling to me that the best option for consistent resident parking is a pass at the McCutcheon garage for $250. The street in front of the building is 2hr parking from 7am-7pm which means youre effectively not able to park there other than to drop off groceries, and fills up quickly past hours. If youd like to have guests over or family from out of town, good luck because your only option is to get bent. Nothing exists in terms of visitor parking passes, and I love having people over to tell them they have to move their car at 8am.-Noise: I live in a 4x4 apartment so I was ready to accept the fact that there would be some noise that bled over from above and below, as well as through the walls from my roommates. However, there is BARELY any insulation for noise and anything above a whisper in a bedroom or bathroom can be heard through the walls. Good luck having privacy, your roommates and maybe even the people above and below get to hear you bang!-Marketing: This is kind of a weird gripe to have with the building, but its pretty noticeable. Aspire, if I get another day of 10 emails to my school email about the most useless information I could care about I will lose my god damn mind (this includes resigning sales -- its not a sale if youre offering me to pay more next year on a new lease than what Im paying currently, now is it?). Its also pretty annoying to pick up phone calls expecting to hear important information about things like COVID testing or work and instead getting someone from the front desk asking for the millionth time if Im resigning or not and why I wouldnt want to live there again.I have no issue stating that I pay mid $700s for my rent at the moment, and honestly I cant believe that the marketing team thinks I would want to resign for additional money when the building has so many glaring issues. I cant really recommend living here unless you get set up with a place through Purdue Undergrad Living, because signing a lease directly through the front office is ridiculously overpriced for constant issues.

Before I start I would like to say that I have created a new name and email for this review so that Aspire can no longer call and harass me if they see this review. This place is quite possibly the worst of all of the student apartments you can find. I was looking around at different options and gave my email and phone number to a few places in order to get more information about them. Rise, Hub, and Campus Edge all contacted me what I would call a normal amount, I got a phone call maybe once or so a week and an email. Aspire? They WILL NOT STOP CALLING. You will receive a phone call every single day, sometimes even twice a day! On top of that I am sent one or two emails from them every day and I had to mark them down as spam and block their number so i would stop receiving phone calls. I reached out to several other people online and found out that this was the case for all of them as well. Aspire will constantly HARASS you and dont even seem to care that I clearly am no longer interested. I have a few friends who live at Aspire and they told me that workers are now going door to door begging for them to continue living there. The front desk workers I have spoken with seem nice and I can tell that they are just following what their managers tell them, but the management there is horrible. Both from my friends experiences and from mine as well, this is definitely a place that you should not live at. They have 0 things to draw you other than a completely empty vacant food court thats been closed for a year with no plans of reopening, and dubious smart home technology that you have to pay a monthly fee for even if you are not planning on using it. The manager, Antoinette, even texted me after I was sure that I did not accept text messages when I started my application. In fact I was texted from two different from numbers, clearly management is so desperate to get people to live at their apartments that something has to be very wrong. If they cant get people to live there its because the apartments and their management is very subpar. Their rates are the same as Rise, Hub, and Campus Edge but at least they have things worth living there for, youre close to food, bars, and campus. Definitely think twice before leasing with this place

Im type of person who do not write Google review at all, but I must write today. This review is subject to change based on my living experience.I have not started the living yet; hence the only criteria I can assess is the management. So far, they are not adequately doing their job.I have been asking for a parking permit over two weeks ago, and all they did was keep sending me to the Purdue parking facility to buy the parking permit, saying that they sent the proper information.Purdue parking facility was saying the same. They have not gotten any information from the apartment.Today, when I got an email from Purdue Parking facility, they told me that the parking permit is sold out. I asked the apartment what they can do for me not only because I lost my parking spot from the matter that is not my fault, but also I have to pay a more expensive parking spot. More importantly, I do not have a parking spot for the beginning of the semester. The answer was no, according to the email they sent me.I do not know how they will respond to the other incidents, but I am highly disappointed with their methodology to solve the issue.

The fact that Purdue spent 6 months for online school and Aspire did absolutely nothing to fix their internet/wifi issues is quite frankly an embarrassment to them.Aspire likes to brag about being a smart, internet connected home. That would be great, except for the fact that the internet cuts out so frequently I cant even do my homework consistently, much less attend a Zoom class. I just hope that Aspire will get their act together before the first round of midterms for school, or else Ill have to take my money elsewhere as soon as possible. In conclusion: Wifi here sucks, and its a legitimate roadblock to the learning of all the students who live here.

Noise from trash room is HUGE. Beeping noise is 24/7 and machine bumping noise 1-2h per day. What’s more, Aspire wasn’t even trying to solve the issue. Also, I signed the lease last early October saying I prefer 2nd or higher floor. Instead I got a first floor room. Impossible that rooms had been filled at that time. I lived at Hub last year and the management are so much better than here. Disappointed.Plus, if you have a car, don’t live here! The “garage” is actually the one near Hillenbrand, which is very far and inconvenient.

The place is virtually new. Albeit they opened for rentals 9 months ago, they were still actively working on completing both the interior and exterior until the Corona shutdown. I assume work will continue after we reopen. On the bad side there is constant noise and interruptions both because of the construction but also because the walls are too thin. Forget about having s-- in private - both of your neighbors will be on it. But at least its mutual, can hear them very well as well, even with earplugs. Apart from that the management has been a disaster (even before the shutdown). Definitely not worth the price. Maybe ok if you are late finding a place on campus and dont mind walking 20 minutes. Note the allocated parking is 7-8 min walking so its not worth it.Internet is horrible, and I dont say that lightly. In the early afternoon/evening it is hard to open anything on YouTube, even 3 minute video takes a minute to load. There were also a number of outages over the past year. You are also not allowed to get your own provider.Cleanliness is also an issue. On a several occasions I found dog product in the stairwell. The gym probably gets cleaned up once a week and very often is out of sanitizing wipes.

I wish I could give them 0 stars. They are terrible at communicating with future residents when making sure paperwork is in order. They will not answer their phones or check voicemail, but will repeatedly call you at the most inconvenient times without a clue that youd been trying to get in touch with them.Edit: I physically walked in to the leasing office today to try and clear some things up. They are allowing me to re-sign a lease with the same prices I initially agreed to. However, they can no longer guarantee me a spot with the roommates I had chosen due to them filling up. Had someone with the knowledge to solve my problems either call me or send me an email so I could actually respond to it earlier this would not have happened.

I signed my lease last March and shortly after they lowered the rate but not for my unit. Additionally, all the specials they were offering for signing didn’t apply for my unit even though the offers did not have any specifications. Cannot expect to get any mail on time because their office is very slow at processing it, all packages come several days late. All the locks are electric so when the power is out there is no way to get in your room or the building and no one from the leasing office is willing to help at all, they take no ownership and blame the problem on Duke while all residents are waiting outside the building. I have lived in other similar apartment complexes on campus and the office here is by far the worst, very unprofessional. Not at all helpful especially considering many units were not finished when people moved in. Expect to get ripped off if you spend your money here.

The apartments themselves are fantastic, with plenty of privacy and space for each person in every unit. However, Aspire is advertised as a “smart” apartment with all sorts of WiFi enabled amenities. This would be great, if it weren’t for the spotty WiFi that shuts down for up to 48 hours weekly. It costs a pretty penny to stay here, so that penny should go towards the ability to be able to do work from home. The office closes before many classes get out, so there’s almost never a possibility to notify Aspire until the next day. The WiFi problems also only seem to happen when the office is closed.

Our room hasn’t had any issues in terms of plumbing or maintenance, however the Internet is ridiculously unreliable! Aspire needs to rethink their contract with Pavlov media (which has a 1 star review on Google). This is a top notch smart apartment facility meant for college undergrads who basically live off internet, and we don’t have a reliable internet connection! It goes out once a week and can be gone for several hours at a time! We can’t submit assignments at home, do our homework at home or even do virtually anything at home that requires internet

I wish I could give 0 stars. Throughout the semester I tried to be patient because this was a new apartment complex, but at some point I have to actually consider that this is a poorly managed place. Their main mistake that they keep repeating is making promises they cannot fulfill. Right off the bat they began issuing leases to college students before the building was completed. This forced them into a position in which they had to rush construction, and as a result there have been plumbing issues throughout the entire building, as well as smaller problems have happened to residents. Many of these were little things like a fly infestation, or in my own experience my shower handle does not stay on. All of which could have been prevented if they had taken their time. I believe that they made a similar mistake for hiring upper management for this apartment complex. Many of the people that work here look like theyre fresh out of college, and no Im not talking about the college interns. These employees seem inexperienced and at sometimes dont seem to know what theyre doing. I think this reflects on whichever parent company chose to hire these people rushed their application process so they could get a campus presence as soon as possible. Another mistake they made involves their leasing. Starting a year ago when they first started allowing people to sign leases their rates were $1000 / month. Then they realized that most college students are broke so they began decrease the rates. Their first mistake was not providing a bonus for early lease signers, because now theyre all stuck paying significantly higher rates than other residents. This makes it seem like all Aspire is, is profit-driven and does not care about providing a quality based service. But, they did learn from that mistake by starting their rates low and going upwards. My main frustration with this apartment complex though, is the relationship they have with Purdue, as well as the fact that they try to be Purdue. If you order a package, the leasing center will automatically claim it and hold it in their mail room. Fine, keeping our packages safe. But, they dont have 24/7 staff like Purdue residence halls. As a result, this leads to having to be at Aspire after 9am or before 6pm to claim my packages, now youre adding an extra inconvenience to the mailing process. Next, they inflate their numbers by giving half of the available apartments to Purdue just in case they admit too many students. This is misleading because people get the impression that Aspire is more popular than it actually is. It leads to people with little experience in apartment searching to think theyve walked into a considerably better deal than they actually are. My last thing to complain about is the quality of some of the items within my own apartment. First off, as mentioned earlier, the shower handle on my shower doesnt stay on. Next, my kitchen sink has a rust build-up that does not seem to disappear despite the different materials I use to remove it. The walls mark up very easily which is going to be annoying when I move out in the spring. The internet is garbage, it goes out often at night even after they said it was taken care of. Of everything that I complain about, I will say that the interns are doing great at their jobs especially with having to deal with incompetent management, and the in-unit washer and driers are nice.
