This is a very good place to live. Lots of bang for your buck, especially if you have a car and are looking for a furnished apartment complex. It’s right in between Purdue and Sagamore Parkway where a lot of restaurants and grocery stores are.I must say that your experience really does depend on your individual unit. I’ve lived in two units at Village West and the second one was definitely not as nice as the first. Non-3rd floor apartments seem rather dark to me as well, although this may be a factor of window direction.
Dont live here if you want internet! The rumors are true about this place. Its absolutely terrible. Never consistent. It never has the speed it claims it should have. Starbucks internet is better than this place. And the best part about it is that Village west does absolutely nothing about it, nor do they care. They just tell you to contact the internet provider. The internet here is provided to you via Village West. How does it make any sense to make the residents contact the internet provider about problems when Village West is the one providing it? Non sense.. There is over 1000 residents this year, youd think theyd provide us with better internet considering the amount of people living here and the price each individual is paying. The residents here are the ones paying. Without us, you would be nothing Village West. Please live somewhere else. This place deserves no respect, except the friendly office people and maintenance.
The only reason this place is not getting one star is because of how responsive the maintenance team is and the shuttle to campus is super convenient. If you are not placed on the top floor, be aware that youll suffer the footsteps echoing and loud noises of the people above you constantly. The person above me would throw loud parties and would stomp around late at night keeping me awake, so good luck to whoever moves into my unit! Management is ok, the Amazon package pick up is nice too.
Stayed here for a year 2019-2020. Overall the facilities are well maintained and the home was good quality. However the maintenance left much to be desired. I called office multiple times about a laundry washing machine that always ran hot water. Good thing was that they told me they would send maintenance the next day to fix the issue. I waited the whole day for maintenance to show up, but they never did, and on top of that maintenance said they came in to check and found no issues. Ummm...are you sure you guys came in? The next time I called maintenance, they came in but still did not fix the issue claiming that it was normal that the washer runs hot. It was hard for me to believe this since it literally says rinse cold on the machine. As the pandemic came around, the fire alarms had to be checked by maintenance for every unit. I was shocked that maintenance went through every unit including mine without any mask or safety precautions, literally potentially spreading the virus into my home and others. So, I give 1 star even though the facilities and homes are nice, there should have been more prudence and honesty in the maintenance side.
I love VW! I have lived here for three years and have always had my needs met. The flat fee for utilities is one of my favorite perks. The office staff is always friendly and willing to help sort any issues out. I would HIGHLY recommend living at Village West!
I moved into Village West in 2018 and have had a great time! I love the events that they put on so I can meet new people, but I also like that there is plenty of privacy when I need it. Perfect for Purdue students because the bus can take you right to campus. Love it here!!
False advertisement. Maybe some people got what they expected but I was the lucky one. Staff is very ignorant, as an international student I was unable to arrive to their leasing office to look over the apartments so I had to email them. It took around 3 months and 10+ of my emails just for them to get back to me. When I arrived to their office, I got the keys, everyone seem to be nice. I went to my apartment and someone else was living in my room, people at the office said that I have to sort out myself. I got un-renovated room, even though on the website they said that they renovated them. So we dont have a kettle, or a toaster, or a table with a chair in our rooms, so basically we have to sit on the ground and do our homework, amazing. A light broke down in my room (probably a blown light bulb) 4 days in the row I went to their office and every day same story someone will come first thing in the morning nobody ever came. They even told me to do my homework in the kitchen until my light is going to get fixed. So basically I was promised a renovated apartment fully furnished and though I have to sit every night on the floor in the dark using my phone do homework, so pathetic. I have 2 stars instead of 1 because some things did came as promising like a gym, bus to the college that runs every 15 minutes and a swimming pool, but other than that. If you are a student, get a written notice or a letter that states that you will get what they promised and not end up like I do. Below I included some expectations vs reality pictures just to prove my point.
The units themselves are amazing, however ownership and the employees are useless and try and take advantage of the mostly college age tenets when they try to sublet.
Overall, village west is a nice place to live as a college student, but it would be nice if the sink garbage disposal would be desgined better where I can actually put a bit of food down the drain. Also, I think having screen doors would be nice for the balcony because it can get too smelly in the apartments.
It has been really nice! Love the amenities, and the management has been nice. I am so glad to be living here this year and wish I wouldve moved in before my senior year!
Anybody who hasnt have the opportunity to call this community their home is missing out. If you are looking for an unsurpassed experience in student housing, find Village West. Youll have the pleasure of working with the most knowledgeable Property Managers in West Lafayette, and have an (almost) unlimited array of amenities to choose from when calling this place your home.
The maintenance here is great, theyre very quick to get to the issues and are always kind about it.
I have lived here for a few years and I just want to say whoever owns this place I hope keeps this place. This places has gotten so much better than when I first moved in. The rent is a tad bit higher, but you no longer have to pay for power. The internet still isnt the best but its better. The staff actually knows whats going on most of the time now. I know some people have said the pool isnt that great, but I like it just fine. It goes up to five feet. The gym is great too. Theres also some trails very, very, very close to the complex. The club hosue (office) looks much better as well. Its actually a place you could actually go to study now. They also have a few rooms that reduce noice you could reserve. The only complaint I have is there have been a few weird emails we have gotten from them. Like, weve lived here for 2 years and we just got an email that said they were so happy we were moving in, gave the date we moved in (2016), and titled it roomate notice. The address was wrong but the apartment number was right. Theyve done this kind of thing with rent too. Its a glitch in their system (as far as I know, and according to how its been explained to me).Other than the very small issue I just named, this place is great. If something breaks they actively try to fix it as soon as possible. Communication between staff and residents has improved. They have a lot more fun things they do in the office. Like, last week they had treats for the residents in the office (club house). The best thing of all! They are fine with pitbulls (from what Ive seen. there are quite a few people here with them). Its nice to live somewhere where theyre not ignorant about dog breeds :)
They are doing good job for maintenance and staffs are friendly. Nice location and good price. I like this place.
6 months after moving out, I received a call from collections saying I have an outstanding debt. I then called Village West to inquire about the call from collections and they informed me at that time that I had nearly $200 in move out fees for which I was never sent a bill. Furthermore, the front office deactivates accounts upon move out so there was no way for me to access my portal to see that I had an outstanding balance. Since I was never sent a bill, I was also never given a due date. Instead I directly received a call from collections. After being informed that I had this outstanding balance, I immediately paid it, but my credit was still affected despite the fact that I was unaware of the outstanding balance to begin with. I also spoke to Macey at the front office who told me that paying the fees at this time would not affect my credit, which it still did. The deception and lying that you will endure from living here is not worth it. Avoid living here at all costs! It will cost you lots of time and result in a hit to your credit for absolutely no reason except due to the sheer incompetence of the front office. From talking to my friends and the other reviews here, I can see I’m not the only one who was affected by this ridiculous scheme.
There were some wrinkles that needed to be worked out when my roommate and I first moved in, but the staff was very accommodating and helped us resolve the issues in a prompt manner. The apartments are very cozy, quiet, and make a great apartment for college students. Village west is very clean, affordable and offers great amenities. Maintenance is always handled quick and efficient, and all the maintenance guys are really cool and respectful. I had to move here last minute due to issues finding a spot last year, but I have renewed my lease and look forward to calling VW home for the next year and a half. Like any apartment complex, you will run into small issues here and there, but the staff are all friendly and do their best to help in any way they can! My roommate and I have met some really cool people in this apartment complex as well. Its a great community vibe.
The internet is absolutely horrendous. You cannot do anything reliably. There is also no ethernet port to establish a wired connection. I even bought a modem and router to connect only to be told I had to use the terrible wifi. Absolutely ruined my view of this place and I will not be living here again.
Living there was nice but now nearly 6 months after moving out they are trying to charge me nearly $200 in move out fees that I was not notified of in the 45 days that Tippecanoe county provides. They then chose to pass this off to a collections agency in Florida that will negatively affect my credit. They have also chose to ignore my numerous emails and phone calls to dispute this claim. I have talked to other previous residents and they have yet to hear back as well. I assume that this is a scare tactic to push young college students to pay what is, and by all means and definitions, an ILLEGAL CHARGE. Could not recommend to anyone in good conscience.
Village West is a great place for Purdue college students to live! It is off campus, affordable, and they have lots of good perks! The apartment is spacious and comfortable to live.
Maintenance is alright unless you happen to have a bat infestation. When I moved in I had bats in my wall and I placed a maintenance request. It was immediately marked as complete and since I don’t normally stay up until the bats are active I thought it had been taken care of. Well then spring rolls around and I realize the bats are still there. I go in person to address the bat issue. They say they’ll do something about it and proceed to close up all the ways the bats can get in during the day. I can only assume they trapped the bats in there for some time because the bat poop that was leaking down my window kept getting worse. Finally they cut open my ceiling to remove the bats. When they did this, they moved my mattress but didn’t put anything over any of the stuff I had under my bed, allowing the wall shavings into all of my things. Then they left the window sill covered in bat poop and warped. To get them to actually take care of it I had to threaten to contact the health department. Also the property has a MASSIVE amount of dead trees, not enough dumpsters for move in, and no recycling, in addition the laundry machines and driers really suck, but to be fair the apartments aren’t that expensive.
It is a great place to live. People here really support and are nice. The furniture they offer is in good quality which is much better than those I had before in other apartments with higher rent. Bus service is great.
The unit is nice and clean. I dont think the staff is nice. They are not helpful and very slow when I need anything. The club house is nice though.
I wish had I lived here all 4 years of college. The staff is great. its very affordable for all the amenities you receive. Very pet friendly. The bus is more convenient than paying for a parking permit. All around great place to live.
Great experience. Love my roommates. Love the bus system. Nice staff. Hate the parking situation but I only have to worry about it on the weekends.
Great amenities, decent rent prices, and easy access to buses! It certainly better than a dorm in my opinion! However, the advertising on the website (the photos of the rooms are a little misleading), the staff is not very good at matching roommates and needs a better system because Ive seen and heard about many issues regarding this, and whenever theres a problem they never seem to have enough staff I assume and it takes forever to get your problems fixed.
The tour was very complete and nice and definitely solidified my decision for where to live next year. I was very impressed with the facilities and the modern amenities.
Village West is one of the best places Ive lived. They have updated an renovated so much of the property, its like new. The office and maintenance staff are super friendly and helpful. I will admit that I had some problems when I first came here but since then they have helped turn that around completely! Close enough to campus but still a beautiful scenery with the celery bog super close and they provide a shuttle to campus that always works! Super glad to be renewing here.
Awesome and fantastic. Since I moved in to the Village West community this Fall, I have been awed with the serenity and calmness of the environment.
Overall great community with excellent clean amenities, donuts on Wednesday, and a great spot to run to celery bog from. I have enjoyed my time here. Oh and high ceilings are awesome!
The amenities here are awesome! I loved taking the shuttle to and from campus during the school year. The new fitness center is really nice and they have cookies and a nice coffee maker in the office. I would live here again if they had unfurnished apartments. The updated apartments are really nice and for a good price!
Village West is a GREAT apartment complex. The new clubhouse and fitness center renovations are beautiful, as well as the new upgraded apartments. The staff is wonderful, friendly, and always willing to help with your needs. I highly recommend this complex for anyone looking for a wonderful place to stay. You will not be disappointed.
Don’t live here!!!! The office doesn’t care about the residents at all. The internet has been crashed for several times in one semester. And the office didn’t do anything to fix it! They will only tell you to contact the company by your own! Worst apartment at Purdue!!!!!! Also the online photos of the apartments are misleading. The ones they give you are horribly maintained. The only nice thing about this place is the gym.
Lived here for 3 years throughout college and my first year in the real world. 3rd floor is awesome, vaulted ceilings, really enjoyed living here. Staff was friendly, communication was quick and responsive.Take care of the couch, its expensive.Id recommend here. Just dont worry too much about cleaning on move out. They hire professional cleaning for all apartments, so even if you dust/scrub/and mop the place spotless youll still get a bill. But as least you know on move in youre getting a clean place.
This place is ideal for luxurious college living. There a shuttle bus that runs to and from campus. the pool is well-kept and refreshing. The rates are great for the amount of space you get. The managing staff is friendly and always eager to assist with any issues. Even the maintenance workers are nice. I recommend Willowbrook West Apartments for anyone who is looking for a home away from home!
Willowbrook is of very low quality. If it werent for the cheap prices and easy utilities, I wouldnt even be living there.Within the last semester, my hot water went out three separate times and not until this summer did maintenance come out and actually FIX the problem - which was FIVE GALLONS WORTH of calcium deposits, which impeded our water heater and left mass amounts of hard water on our eatery. Our AC has gone out a couple times, which was only fixed after the weekend it went out. They advertised a pool (which is not that great to begin with) and it had been closed all summer, so great fun we have been having!People will come into your apartment without notification if management feels there is any sort of reason, which can be very annoying and invasive if Im doing personal things. There is also no leniency whatsoever in rent. If you are a single day late, you are charged an extra $50 and $10 everyday after that. If you have little money, be prepared to have less, because everything in your apartment is fragile, as well.Willowbrook partners with an energy company (Duke) that cant handle their own website, which has been down the entire last year, making online payments impossible, even though they insist to use online payments.Ive been living at Willowbrook for 2 years going on 3, and if it werent for the fact that Im looking for ease of living (money and utilities) I would never have come back. Do not come to Willowbrook.
Most ridiculous management ever! Got my car towed even if I DID park at visitor parking. The management refused to talk to whoever towed my car claiming we trained our employees so well he is never gonna make mistake. How ridiculous does that sound! By that logic even if he did make mistake you will never know! This is classic Willowbrook. They not care about you, your well-being and your property, all they want is money from you! No apologize, no nothing, all response I got was there is nothing we can do. So youre telling me your employee made a mistake and there is nothing you can do?! I was so angry and frustrated when I was talking to them, but the moment I left their office I heard them laughing. Their lack of sympathy to their customers is amazing! Stay away with them if you dont have a bunch of money throwing around!
Lived in Village West last year. overall it is not bad except:1. They used wooden boards in the bathroom. Everyone knows that bathrooms are often wet and the woods are easy to go mouldy. It seems that to them it is a good excuse to charge you money from the security deposit to replace the board after you move out. Actually they did it.2. The air conditioners are put right outside the window of my bedroom, which are very noisy at night. They say they would tell their engineers to move the air conditioner. But they soon forgot it.3. Two female staffs once showed very impatient and even started to laugh at me for my mistake of calculating the rent. It seems that they were good at math and arithmetic. But it turned out they were wrong and their attitude made me feel humiliated.4. Although on their website there are fitness center and swimming pool. But actually during last year those areas were closed and still under construction for a very long time. False advertisement.
WARNING! Nice, cheap living conditions here, but management will drive you crazy. I was referred to these apartments, so I got a discount on my second months rent. I then referred someone else, so I was able to get another discount on a months rent. But heres the kicker, neither credit was ever applied to my account until I actually went into the office to ask about it. It took 2 trips to the office to finally get the discount they originally promised me. These people will not go out of their way to help you, so be on your guard and dont let yourself be taken advantage of.And if youre ever interested in subleasing your apartment, they will make this nearly IMPOSSIBLE for you with fees. There are upsides though. Maintenance requests are responded to fairly quickly, and you get new furniture when you move in (or ask for it). Rent is fair, they do a lot of parties (free food), the pool and exercise room are pretty awesome, and the free trolley rides are convenient. All in all its an OK experience.
Village West is okay for its price. Probably the best apartments off campus that are lower in price and good accommodations. Very upset that my rent jumped up by $100 once the management changed. The Maintence and office workers are usually nice and try to fix any problems. I live on the first floor and every winter we get ant infestations and sometimes the WiFi goes out in several buildings.
Maintenence rude and dont really care to listen or work with you.
My daughter moved in back on August 13th at which time we paid for the first months rent. My wife filled out the paperwork with my daughter and I saw her fill out the check and give it to the young man working at the desk. He took the check along with the paperwork to the back. I assumed he placed it in a file for tenants. My daughter had a few issues with air conditioning that were somewhat repaired and overall was happy with the facilities. I paid September rent and about mid September was told that I had not paid the first months rent I called and reminded the management that we would not have been given the keys if we didnt pay it upon move it and they should check the tenant file to see if the check was placed with the paperwork. 2 days later I was told by your management team that, they found the check and we were covered for August. This past Wednesday I was notified yet again that they had LOST the check and to avoid late fees I would have to send another. I reminded them that we were NOT late and that they had yet again LOST the check. It cost me $36 to cancel the check and I sent another that day. I sure hope the rest of the year we are not dealing with this problem of lost rent.
Very nice place to live. The pool is nice for the summer months and its always kept clean. Sometimes it has a lot of people, but usually its a nice place to relax
The apartment size is nice. I like that it had a couple gym machines available. Then came construction and no gym so i havent found much to rate it higher as of now. Maybe the new gym and clubhouse will be better.I signed a lease almost a year in advance and gave my preferences, which they asked for, thinking that would get me the apartment i wanted. Nope. They didnt notify me of my apartment until i contacted them a few days before i was supposed to move in.After living here for a couple months, they said theyre renovating and i should renew to keep my price. I came a day later than i thought was the last date, and asked to renew. The person in the office told me theyd be twice raising the rental rates so Id be paying a lot more if i renew, and wasnt very helpful other than that. So i said Id think about it, and went home to email someone with better leasing knowledge. I asked if there was anything they could do, they didnt reply for a while so i started looking for another apartment. It takes them a while to reply to emails, if they reply at all.The beds arent too comfortable. Plastic and hard. The new couches arent that great. Small and leather. The toilet runs unless you wiggle the handle after flushing. The vent in my room doesnt work very well. Parking sucks in general especially for guests, and during construction not too great. Some people in the office can stand to be a little more friendly. The new manager is friendly. Maintenance came fast when notified. I dont get bothered too much and its quiet, probably because Im on the third floor. If they had one bedrooms available Id suck it up and renew.Overall, its ok.
Do not live here. Dont even try it out for a few months. It is awful. The rent is a good price but thats about it. The management is awful. Very rude and slow to get any work done for you. After being very displeased with an apartment I was living in in Willowbrook, they promised to move me to a better one...it took them 3 months and constant phone calls from me for them to take any sort of action. The maintenance men arent any better. Willowbrook allows you to submit maintenance requests yet, when the maintenance men show up, they make you feel like your requests are a burden to them. The walls are paper thin, cheap washer and dryer that takes 3 cycles to even clean/dry your clothes, shower and sink grow disgusting amounts of mold and mildew even after scrubbing weekly, the dishwasher doesnt work even after them replacing it, and they have absolutely no security systems. In my old apartment, the chain lock was busted off the door from someone trying to break in, and in my new apartment there was damage to the door frame from someone trying to break in. They advertise that they have security but in all honestly...it is only a 70 year old man that drives around for a couple hours. Just dont live here.
Willowbrook West apartments are very affordable for every college student. They have a well kept pool as well as friendly staff. The Trolley is brand new, air conditioned, and offers an alternative to the crowded city bus to get to campus! The apartments are very nice for the price compared to other apartments.
Showed us a fully renovated apartment, told us since we were signing our lease early we would be guaranteed a fully renovated apartment, so we did. The apartment we got was nothing like what was shown. Once we confronted the staff, they told us the reason was one of our roommates was coming from a 3-bedroom apartment (at Village West) and since he had to move in earlier than most people, there were no fully renovated apartments ready to be moved into, since they needed cleaning, yet one of his old roommates moved the same exact time into a fully renovated apartment. The quality of the parking lot is abysmal. There are no lines visible and the speed bumps have been destroyed by weather. My car was hit in the parking lot by someone trying to drive around the speed bump. I have gone to the office multiple times with my concerns about the parking, yet nothing has been done. Cars drive through the parking lot at completely unreasonable speeds; I have seen cars going 45+ mph.Im sure if I had an apartment of the same quality they showed us, I would be much happier with Village West, so if you plan on renting here, just be wary that you could get an apartment of much lower quality. The only good thing about the situation is it allows my roommates and I to call our apartment the crackhouse, because, well, it looks like a crackhouse.
It’s very affordable with recently updated units. Parking is great along with the bus transportation to and from campus!
It’s really good, while the price is going up year by year. The repair service is efficient and friendly, also they provide 35 bus from Monday to sunday.
This was supposed to be a 5-star experience until 6 month after moving out. At first place I never received the bill of moving out fee from VW, and I learnt about that until the collection company reached out to me. Secondly, I paid the fee with a check at VW office over a month ago, and the check was cashed 4 days after payment. However, it seems like VW office has never informed the collection company about that and they called me several times since then. At present, the collection is still on my credit report and negatively affecting my credit score! In case that VW contacted the collection company immediately after receiving the payment and it was their fault not correcting my credit history, VW should have changed to another collection company after so many reviews complaining the same issue. To be fair, during the 2 years that I lived at VW and based on my 8-year renting experience at West Lafayette, I was very satisfied about the reasonable rental, fast maintenance response and friendly staff.
I hate to give bad reviews but this place really let me down. This is a review combining multiple persons experiences. My experience in VW was perfect until I moved out.One day I was checking my credit score and found out that I have a significant decrease due to a ~$200 collection hold. I totally have no idea where did that come from until I contacted the collection company. Apparently, I was supposed to receive a bill for the move-out fee through mail (which I didnt). In the end I paid the bill and my credit score got recovered a year after I moved out. (It took a year because the collection company said VW never updated them on my payment and they have to contact VW to confirm my payment.)At that time, I really thought it was not entirely VW fault. Maybe the mail got lost? or the address was not recorded correctly?However... this year. When my friends (plural) moved out, they took my lesson and triple checked the forwarding address, looking for the bill constantly, but they didnt receive anything. And one day, guess what, they all received calls from the collection company saying that they owed VW ~$200 move out fee. They paid the fee the next day in VW office through check, got the receipt. A month later, online-banking showed that VW cashed out the check. We really thought that it was the end of the story. No, the story isnt end. Through the next few months, they were still getting calls from VW/collection company saying that the bill is not paid. After multiple rounds of confirmation, they still got a reduction in credit scores (which hasnt been recovered yet). Gladly, they are not planning on doing anything counting on their credit history. It is hard to imagine that this happens to a young person, who just moved out, planning to take a loan to purchase a house/car to settle down, and suddenly found out this unresolvable credit score issue.I really dont understand how hard it is to organize these things correctly.VW played an important role in my college years. I have recommended this place to a lot of friends saying this is the best place for students in W. La. But what they are doing really right now really disappointed me.
We’ve been here for a year now and have just renewed our lease. Found this place last minute before school started, by chance. Honestly this place is such a blessing— great value, nice staff, good environment... all in all VERY worth the money that you pay. They recently switched management, and the new group has been doing great. The best part is that you don’t have to worry about additional fees (utilities/internet), because they’re all included. On top of that, it is fully furnished and if you’re lucky like us, all your appliances will be lightly used or entirely new.
CHARGES UNRESONALABLE FEE: $800Roomates ILLEGAL smoking inside on couch(didnt allow me open window) and charge you!The couches were broken when I checked in, and it goes to replacement fee for you. I had pictures on the broken curtains and scratched couches right after I moved in and showed the officer these pictures.-The answer was so kind that I wouldnt need to worry about these at all;Days later roommates moved in with cats and smoked heavily on couches, even with every window closed as they said it was too cold. Every time I suggested H. S smoking outside or at least open the door to balcony, She said you could stay outside but it would too cold for her to smoke.-I contacted the officer and got the warmest reply said there was nothing they can do;Also the cats were unreported to the office, however, when I went to the officer to check the truth:- they said you didnt need to worry about anything since it werent your pets.So YOU DO NOT NEED TO WORRY ABOUT or WE CAN NOT DO ANYTHING means: village west charges you $800 for carpets and couch damage when you moved in and from illegal cats and smoking by others. Did other ppl get charged? Same, but why do you have to be charged if I asked everything and got THAT IS OK answer?Horrible apartments.@Zamir Latif is right. There is a collections agency that will negatively affect your credit. If you are happy to bring tons of troubles for yourself, please try Village west!Attached are pictures on some but not all broken things with moved-in date.
Great living experience. Every thing is great. The people, the environment, the roommates, and the furniture. I love this apartment and I recommend it.
I stayed here from 2013-2015. Rent is affordable, among the cheapest 4 bedroom units in West Lafayette. The rooms are of a decent size and there is plenty of space for storage. They have an excellent shuttle service, particularly useful in the morning if you are in a hurry. The gym facility is OK. Maintenance is decent, not the quickest I have known. In many situations for something that was an urgent issue, they took 10 days to fix. I did not have to pay a deposit, only a small application fee and got an ipad as part of the sign up. They always run specials, particularly on the 4 Bedroom apartments so if you are looking to sign, it is better to lookout for these deals. They did not charge me any damages at the end of the lease.
The property manager never did a thing for the resident. I have a damaged carpet when I moved in and it has been 4 months. No maintenance!!! And the rent payment is also an issue, they gonna charge you a 100 more late fee because of their own system issue.Do not recommend. Worst management company I have ever seen!!!
Willowbrook West is an excellent place to live for college students. The apartments are spacious and up to date. The maintenance staff is friendly and prompt. Johnny Cs Jolly Trolley is brand new, air conditioned, and offers an alternative to the crowded city bus to get to campus!
This was my first apartment upon coming to college. I never lived in the dorms. Willowbrook West has been my other home. The staff is fantastic, and Willowbrook West has a lot to offer for the price. I would recommend and have recommended Willowbrook to friends.
The management of this place is terrible. Ive been at this place for over a week with no AC in 85 degree weather and half the lightbulbs out. Theyve been informed time and time again of these issues but nothing has been done. Someone supposedly fixed the AC and left us a note but nothing was actually done at all. All it does is act like a fan while producing absolutely no cool air. Ive barely had any sleep for a whole week thanks to this sauna Ive been in.
The apartments are good but the management is not great. The management isnt local so the office workers do their best but are undertrained and have no real power to fix issues. The first year I lived there my roommate and I were never sent move in instructons, my second year I was misinformed about how to pay first month rent when taking over a sublease by the office staff and ended up paying a bunch of late fees because of it.
Only perks are the fairly reasonable rent and trolley to campus. Internet is slow at best and TV service cuts in and out. They will screw you out of money any way they can throughout your lease and at move-out. Also the water will grow black mildew/mold in the showers and sinks. But if your looking for somewhere cheap and dont mind the inconveniences good luck! I feel bad for the few employees they have that are actually very nice and friendly.
I love living at Village West!!! Amazing staff, great apartments, free coffee, easily the best deal for the price in the Purdue area. Wish I had moved here sooner!
The office guys are warm and friendly. The facility is great. Gym, swimming pool, studying rooms all are fantastic.
These guys try to charge you for their renters insurance after you have already provided them the proof that you have your own.
Its being great to be here at village west. Its a great place with all the amenities and facilities. The community staff is good and very helping.
A WARNING TO THOSE BRINGING CARS TO VILLAGE WEST:Within a week of moving in, my car was hit in the Village West parking lot near the speed bump. Was parked in a designated parking spot during this time and was left with a note on my windshield from other tenants that i deserved to have my car hit for parking near the speed bump (and the note even mentioned they hit my car but didn’t leave any insurance information so if I wanted to file this claim, it comes out of my pocket). Brought it up the the front office and was ignored on this issue.Park here at your own risk. Ridiculous
The apartments are great to live in. They are well maintained and are situated in beautiful location. I definitely recommend Village West.
Fairly good. They got good apartment plan and facilities. Its close to campus, and its very convenient to take the shuttle or drive to campus.
Leasing office is extremely helpful and friendly.Maintenance is progressively getting better many updates taking place.Lea and sharmaine are extremely helpful.
Last year we stayed here and had very minimal problems—I probably would have given it 4 to5 stars then. This year we recommended it to many of our friends unfortunately. Upon move in this year, the bathroom for my friends room was disgusting and the tub was covered in thick black mold. The garbage is over flowed and has been for the entire week. The garbage is also scattered around the complex in front of apartments. There is no parking near your building which has never been a problem before now, and is minimal compared to my other issues. Although still annoying.I don’t understand where these problems came from—village west was not like this before. I would not recommend it under its new management.
I am a Chinese, I wouldnt recommend anyone, any Chinese to live here. You wont be treated as a resident here, you wont be treated fairly here. They way they run the business is ridiculous. Before you sign a lease, they will offer you a kind of low price to tempt you to sign a lease. But once you signed a lease and moved in, they will ask you to pay extra money to stay in, otherwise they will ask you to move out. With the money they charge, you could live in a much better apartment which could also be more close to the school. Anyway, dont even try to think about living here, you will regret living here once you signed the contract. If I could give zero star, I will definitely do that!
Good price for what you get. There are many amenities for residents such as a workout room, pool table, ping pong set up, and a pool. Maintenance can be a a little slow though.
I wouldnt live anywhere else honestly. You CANNOT beat Village West pricing and amenities. Every single person weve ever had over as a guest at our apartment has always said this is such an awesome place! I wish mine looked like this! Its well laid out (my roommate and I share a 2 bedroom) and has very open floor plans. Their new leases cover ALL utilities now, so paying your rent and bills has never been easier. Theyve been cleaning house and working really hard to come back from a bad reputation, and after cleaning house they have a really great staff now that gets everything done. The buses are a bit of a hit or miss when it comes to good or bad experiences, but that is more of an issue with city bus employees so I wont divulge. The fact that every 15 minutes I know there is a private bus at one of the two stops I can use for free to take me to campus is a god send in itself. Maintenance seems to have recently cleaned house in some areas and now theyre great! My maintenance guy today knew about issues I wasnt even aware of and immediately fixed them up (little things like blinds needing fixing or a burnt out lightbulb I hadnt even called in yet.)The office girls are (usually) great. Like anywhere there are better ones than others, but one of the girls has the residents names and apartment numbers memorized, and goes out of her way to greet you and ask how youre doing every time she sees you, its baffling and wonderful. Ive lived here for about four months now, and just recently resigned for an apartment without hesitation.Currently they are putting millions into renovations right now, including a new fitness center, new appliances in the apartments as well as newer and easier to maneuver furniture, and even installing car ports for winter. It sounds like I didnt write this but I actually did. I just genuinely love where I live. Seriously if youre looking into village west the best thing to do is schedule a tour or make it a point to visit and talk to the office about plans and what not, the apartments speak for themselves.
Pretty good. The maintenance is efficient. The associates are friendly. Enjoy staying here. Pretty good. The maintenance is efficient. The associates are friendly. Enjoy staying here.
After living here for two years, Ive come to the conclusion that Village West is a nice place to live off campus. The apartments are decent, theres a great gym, and they have a good sized dog park.
The employees here are very cheerful, helpful, and easy to work with. The apartments are beautiful and well kept, and the property is likewise. I appreciate the effort put into keeping your own privacy, as even when placed in a 4 bedroom apartment, each renter has their own key to their own room. The prices are phenomenal for the quality of these apartments, especially since they include electric, wi-fi, cable, a pool, and a workout center.
Just renewed my lease with them and have had nothing but problems since. I recently needed maintenance for an appliance problem and it has been almost a week already for them to even show up. Also if you pay rent and they dont process it you get an email saying your late for your payment and its very confusing. Also renewing my lease my rent has fluctuated 3 times and is very annoying. Im not renewing again. The gym is very nice as is the club house and pool is equally nice. The staff is very friendly its just for some reason things are going haywire Im not for sure.
We have loved living at Village West! We had trouble moving in, but they were willing to work with us so that we had a better experience! Whenever there has been a maintenance issue, someone has come within the day or 2 to fix the problem! The management office doesnt have the friendliest people working the front desk, but whenever I have had to call about something, the people answering the phones were very kind! Would recommend over and over Village West!!I previously leased with Granite Management and had an absolutely horrible experience! We were ready for a change, and are so thankful that we leased with Village West!!
The apartments are large and cheap but be prepared to deal with absolutely ridiculous situations with the office staff. They opened my personal mail. Someone tried to steal my roommates rent money. This one worker tried to evict us because someone with my roommates same last name wasnt paying their rent and she didnt know which one she was supposed to evict so (in her words) she just picked one. I honestly dont think anyone trains these people.
Lived here for a year, and had a good experience. Back then, it was called Willowbrook West. Large spacious apartments at great prices in a nice community. On the downside, it is far from campus and you are dependant on the bus if you dont have a car. The heating and cooling had low efficiency (=higher electric bills). On the whole, this is a good deal if you know what youre getting into.+: They have newly introduced a citybus route serving the community. Not sure about the schedule of this bus. When I stayed there, buses were scarce, especially on the weekends.
Best rates in town. great value for the price. would and have recommended.
I have lived at Willowbrook West for 3 years and overall it has been a great experience! The location to campus is what sold me in the first place. There is a shuttle that will take you to and from campus as well as a Citybus stop located in front of the property. The grounds and pool are well maintained and very enjoyable. The office staff is very friendly and understanding. Willowbrook has recently switched management so there are still little things to work out but things are getting better all the time. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice apartment close to campus with the benefits of living off campus.
People who live here are very nice and they often help me to slove the problem. In addition,it’s convenient to live here.for example, when my packages were left in the office, they will inform me as soon as possible.when something goes wrong in my apartment, they can come to my apartment on time.thank you so much.
The staff here is really nice and everything is very clean and the apartments are great! Gym looks great too!
Great apartment complex! Lowest rent around for a good place to live.
Poor service. The managers are so rude. They denied what has been told me by their colleagues and blame me for their mistakes. And they never apologize for their mistakes. We have heard lots of their lies and they hire fewer people for maintenance than needed. So those for maintenance has always been busy.
I didn’t have an issue with this place until they told me I couldn’t do a semester lease but they let other people do them. Instead I got stuck paying for an entire semster while I dont live here after graduation.
Good place to live and is not far form campus
Great room size, great environment. The only downside is the HORRIBLE wifi connection, basically impossible to play online game or maintain a stable skype call. Dont understand why only 2/3 rooms have routers and youre not able to get any internet providers service into this community.
What is very apparent here is how the excellent and good reviews are totally canned reviews, most likely written by someone paid to do so, by the establishment, I looked and not one of these was with out the glaring obvious points that come with a review written with the intent to sell you on something, and there for sound exactly like an ad placement by staff. I will be avoiding these places for sure.
Great customer service and office staff. Maintenance is friendly and responsive to any issues. The apartments are in good condition for price
I enjoy living in Willowbrook(it is called village west now). All new furnitures and good discount.
The reason I only give two stars is because of the annoying Spring noise, because I live close to it. And it keep running whenever day and night. I understood it was for the advertising, but how is the hell it advertise during the night? It just annoy me!!!
Don’t live here!!!! The office doesn’t care about the residents at all. The internet has been crashed for several times in one semester. And the office didn’t do anything to fix it! They will only tell you to contact the company by your own! Worst apartment at Purdue!!!!!!
Great place with everything you need. low price close to campus bus system! check it out!
Though the faculty is friendly, the balance displayed online really messed up and it take forever to fix. The apartment number on the system was incorrect the whole year.
Willowbrook Apartments its a great place to live. There is almost 6 months Ive been living there and Its been great. The apartments are big, new, with new furniture, theres an entertainment area with a great swimming pool, game room, gym, the internet and TV work great. Its also very well located, just a few minutes from Purdue University and also a few minutes from Walmart. When we have a question or when we need anything, the leasing office people are very pleasant and helpful. Theres also a shuttle which takes residents from and to Purdue campus which makes our transportation easier. Living in Willowbrook is recommendable for anyone who looks for high quality apartments with a good price.
Its a nice place to live! The apartments are new and big, and there isnt too much noise. Its just 10 minutes from campus by bus and close to walmart. The swimming pool, game room and the gym are good! The shuttle was really helpfull when I moved in because I hadnt had my ID card.I really enjoy living here. The only problem is we have no buses on weekends (after Saturday 6p.m.). However, it is a beautiful place that is close to a trail and a lake where you can relax running, walking or riding a bike.
Decent place to live for a very reasonable price. Quite often theres free food in the Clubhouse and free hot beverages.
These apartments are nice and spacious. The maintenance team is extremely nice. And Jess is awesome in the office. Shes pretty much the reason Village West is getting a star out of me.Other than that, this place is the definition of a hot mess. It is not a relaxing place to live. And I cant emphasize enough how horrible of an experience the 3 years I have lived here have been.First of all, they are consistently under new management. And they are forever changing things which is extremely inconvenient for residents. They are not loyal at all to residents who have been here for multiple years and find new ways of screwing them over every 6 months.Their wifi is horrible. Even though weve been without wifi for almost 3 weeks now, they obviously havent done anything about it even after I talked to the office about it. It took ME calling the wifi network to bring any sort of attention to the issue. I shouldnt have to do that. They falsely advertise that they match you up with the perfect roommate. Thats a complete lie. They will match you up with whatever roommate is convenient for them to reach 95% capacity. Male or female, tidy or messy, smokes or doesnt smoke, pets or no pets, it doesnt matter. They dont read the personality things you fill out, so dont even bother. Every roommate they have ever matched me up with has never matched what Ive put down on the personality thing, and in return has been a major inconvenience to me. I shouldnt be the one who is punished after the loyalty (and money) that I have given to Village West, just because they have to reach a certain quota. In my experience, this place has been nothing but stressful. Which is definitely not something I want in a home. I recommend you live somewhere else.
I love it its awesome the staff is super helpful and the living spaces are clean and well kept i would recomend it to all my friends they are truly one of the best places to live its nothing but fun staying here
