I WILL NEVER GO TO THIS PLACE AGAIN!! SO UNPROFESSIONAL AND NOT THE CLEANEST PLACE. I called 3 days ago for an appointment. I spoke to someone and I scheduled my appointment for today at 1 pm. I get there 12:50 and they tell me to sit down at pedicure chair, 5 minutes later they tell me that they dont have an appointment for me and I had to get up and leave and come back later on. Im so glad I left, because I found a BEAUTIFUL CLEAN PROFESSIONAL Nail Spa- VENUS on 22 and L street, NW. DONT GO TO MIMOSA
The salon located near my office. just walk and its so convenient. It was my first time and I had Brazilian, gel manicure and pedicure with Chi. She did awesome work!!! I cannot wait to come back on Thursday for same service with Chi. Oh yes, they offer champagne or red wine! :) I suggest the place and Chi to all my friends. My gel on my finger nails and nail polish on my toes are still intact perfectly! Thank you Chi and see you soon!
If you book an appointment online, when you arrive they will tell you they dont monitor the online system and cant serve you. Crazy.
I set an appointment for acrylic full set nails for them to tell me when I get there they cant do designs and that person who does designs isnt here till next week, if I want plain nails I can do that myself,
Never again. Avoid this place, they were even trying to charge me for the manicure. Ended up paying 30 dollars for this painful pedicure!! Go somewhere else! I am in so much pain, the manager didn’t even cared to ask if I needed anything. (For some reason I am not able to post the pictures of the cut of my foot and hand directly on this review)
I do not recommend going to Mimosa Salon. There were very little covid precautions in place. The salon was dirty, tools were being used without being washed, gloves were removed during my manicure, and there was very little social distancing. I’m not sure the health department has ever visited this place even prior to COVID-19.My nail technician was on the phone two different times & on speaker. He kept looking away while using the drill on my nails causing a nick.Additionally I was charged more than the price listed online. My nails are decent, but the experience was awful and there’s places with better results and a cheaper price.
OK I do not post that much but Ive been getting my nails done here since I was 18 I am 24 now. Steven does an amazing job on my nails I just posted a few but he has pictures of all of my nails( the brown hands lol) and hes does he is super talented this a beautiful establishment you guys are crazy to not get your nails done here. Fyi I never really give him exactly what I want I give him a theme and he does an amazing job with that alone the yellow and red nails that you see that was for the premiere of The Incredibles so he did and incredible theme on my nails which is really cool!! If you look closely its actually an I like the letter I. Trust me you will not be disappointed.
Ive been here three times so far and have gotten three gel manicures and one pedicure. Ive been struggling to find a nail salon for a good gel manicure at a reasonable price. Id say $32 isnt too bad for DC. Im not sure if they charge to remove the gel, but I wouldnt be surprised since most salons do. The salon has so many colors to choose from for gel manicures, which is nice because you could go dozens of times and try out a new color every single visit. The first gel manicure was nice, they put on these collagen gloves that moisturize your hands while protecting them from the UV light in the dryer. It held up pretty well, but began chipping about a week and a half in. The second manicure was terrible. I didnt get the gloves and my nails chipped in a few days and the woman who did it didnt paint the whole nail or the top of the nails. However, the third manicure I got seems to be doing pretty well! The lady was great at trimming my cuticles and was very meticulous when it came to painting them. I guess it just depends who you get.As for the pedicure, pretty average, but held up well over time.
I usually have a really good experience at mimosa but yesterday I went in and the male technician that I had was not great at all. He was pretty rude to me from the beginning and was ordering me around while getting my nails done. He cut one of my toenails extremely short and when filing I even said ouch and moved it away but he kept cutting and filing the rest the same way. Now I’m up in the middle of the night with my toe throbbing in pain. Not sure what I’m suppose to do as it hurts to even put pressure or any weight on it!!! I also got a gel manicure after the pedi. It looks terrible, the mail polish began to shrink as the nails were drying and I kept having to out but he didn’t say anything to me about it until after all nails were done. He did end up removing a layer and using a different polish. The color was fine but the quality was not great. My nails look super thick and bubbly, like there’s a ton of polish layered on. I used to love coming to mimosa on other occasions and told a lot of friends about them. But I will not be going back to this location or at least beware of the male technician with the eyebrow piercing- he was not good technically, injured me and was not friendly at all. I wish mimosa would do something to make my experience right.
I went today for the first time and had a great experience. My technician was nice, and did a great job. She was quick too but the outcome wasnt compromised. I will be back!
Hit or miss. If you get a good technician, it’s worth the price. If you get one of the rushed, hasty ones, good luck! Also had to walk away twice due to them leaving the station dirty (as in cuticles and nail clippings everywhere and the same set of tools out, etc.).
This is the absolute WORST place to get your nails done. Avoid at all cost. And they have the nerve to be expensive! I’ve paid a total of 110 for my full set and pedicure and within a week have been to the shop to get 6 of my nails repaired. And no I don’t work a tedious job that involves my hands I work in an office and sit at a desk all day. The initial tech who did my nails took forever due to the 8 breaks he took to smoke and eat. And when I came to get my nails repaired they charged me even though it had only been a week. 5 dollars a nail per repair and the technicians who fixed them didn’t even make them even. This is the worse nail shop in DC and super expensive. Do not waste your money or time. I will be getting my nails redone this weekend.
Never again, male manicurist nicked my finger and didnt apologize. No hot towel used either, couldnt get out of the place fast enough!
Ive been here several times, as the prices are generally a bit lower than elsewhere. Service is pretty standard, there have been a couple of instances where my fingers/toes were cut but mistakes do happen! Got gypped on my most recent visit though, the tech charged for a Mimosa pedicure which I very definitely did not receive!
Wonderful customer service! Very welcoming & they did a great job. I highly recommend it
Very nice and friendly people working here. They got me in as soon as I arrived with no issues. I give 3 🌟 because they did a mediocre job on my nails. Definitely wasnt as good a job as the person who previously did them. I personally wouldnt go here unless I needed something very basic.
DONT DO IT! This is my third or fourth time going to Mimosa and this experience killed it for me. Usually I go to the other locations in Dupont but came to this location to fix ONE broken nail. The guy who did my nails rushed and was not nice AT ALL. He ended up skipping layers on my gel manicure and now FOUR of my own are breaking. Two of them have completely broken in half and I got my nails done a WEEK AGO. Literally 7 days ago. It’s not like I’m doing anything that would cause my nails to break either.P.S if you do go, WHICH I DO NOT RECOMMEND, do not let the guy with the gemstone jewelry touch your nails.
Jason was great! He was attentive to detail and my nails came out great, and was very friendly. Will definitely be back.
Came here during my lunch hour and got a beautiful ombré acrylic set, really nice technician and I love the nails. They look awesome!
Terrible service. I’ve never written a review, but because I know people like and trust other Mimosa salons around the city (me included), I wanted to say something. If there are competent technicians at this location, I have not seen them. I’ve been to this location on a few occasions for pedicures, and every time the work is rushed and sloppy. Yesterday, I went for a pedicure and the technician cut my foot, failed to remove all the nail polish I had on prior so it was sticking out from underneath the lighter new shade applied, and did the sloppiest polish job I have ever received. I asked (and was charged) for callous removal, which was performed dry and inadequately.
Loved Toan! Great at Dip Powder nails and really nice. Will be back!
The girl who did my nail was always on the phone. She was so rude. I was really offended . She would ask me to turn my hand with her finger.... and at the payment she charged me $80 for pedi-manicure, while I booked on the wed site an appointment for $60 . It wasn’t worth arguing, it is limit she was abusive . Done waist your money . They are awful ....
I am not going to explain everything that I experienced at this salon just now. I will just say horrible customer service from the moment I entered. The woman seemed disturbed that she had to do a customer. She seemed disturbed the entire time she was doing my nails, except for when shes stopped to take selfies of herself. She was rude and rolled her eyes when I couldnt understand what she was saying due to her voice being extremely quiet and her accent. My nails look like I filed them myself. If it wasnt for the professional polish, one would think I did my own nails at home. The people working there were not very friendly. Ok, I have to say what I experienced because it is not good. I made an appointment online. When I went today and said I made an appointment, I was told that Jimmy comes in late and I would have to reschedule. I asked if there was someone else available, because it wasnt offered and people who work there were sitting around. She pointed to a seat. I have never experienced such a low quality of service at a nail salon and I will not be going back. I was not offered even a glass of water. Also if you make an appointment online, I was advised that they do not know. So no one there has either resolved this issue, nor have they taken it down to book an appointment online. They look at you like you are stupid because you made the appointment online. It was just horrible. I have never been treated like that in a nail salon before and I have been going to nail salon for 30 years. They were rude and I couldnt bring myself to leave a tip
Make sure you see Tiffany T. Excellent pedi and sns mani
Some of the technicians are way worse than others. Fingers crossed that you get a decent one 😐 Ive tried them 3 times and 3rd strike, youre out. The first time it was so terrible that I went back for them to do it over - bad idea. Even worse idea - going back again. This time the technician starts by quickly cutting off all of my nails without asking, so that he has less work to do. When informed that that was absolutely not requested, his response - Come back in a month when the nails grow back. No apology or acknowledgement or anything. Needless to say, I wont be going back in a month.
Appointment was booked for today at 10:00 AM. At 10:05 salon was completely locked and closed. No one ever showed up.
Their work use to last forever. But lately the technicians have been speeding through appointments and it’s starting to show. Last week I went in for a gel powder manicure. It literally popped off a week later. $45 dollars down the drain. Beware!!!
Very attentive and caring people work here. Had a very relaxing and great experience getting my nails done here with friends.
The worst manicure Ive ever had... The guy was so rude, and charged my $45 instead of the regular $35 (Mimosa on CT ave) for sns powder dip .. He wouldnt listen to my requests, and most importantly used a wrong color instead of the one I asked for, telling me that it will look the same. When I asked why did they charge me more than the regular price, he said I was lucky he gave me a discount... The worst experience Ive had in DC.
Quality and ambiance are sub par. Unfortunately the location is convenient and find myself going back more than I would like.
Inconsistent quality. consistently rude.
I went here because i saw they had 4 stars, i am not sure why that is :(. I paid $50 for a gel fill + tip, only for 1 nail to start chipping away at just 3 days and the next one chip 2 days after that. I did go and get the 1st one fixed but just gave up getting the 2nd one fixed. Secondly, I get on a Thursday that a nail salon can get busy (so it is loud in general) but it is extremely rude for the staff to be sitting next to a client being loud and obnoxious so they can talk to their other coworker who is working on someone elses nails. If I do not want to be paying 50+ dollars to be in the middle of a conversation literally and uncomfortable.3rd- the place was filthy and damaged, it did not look clean and polished like the pictures.
Literally the worst sns manicure I’ve ever had. It was a terrible experience my nails are uneven and still dirty from the week. Will never return but hopefully they enforce a no movie policy when working on nails.
This is my first time writing a review, but I had too nexuses for the price I paid ($45) to get my nails done, one of my nails just popped off! Today is October 5, 2018 and I got my nails (SNS powder) done on September 28, 2018; it’s been 7 days. SNS powder is supposed to last and usually last me 2 1/2 - 3 weeks. Why did my nail pop off? Why are 6 of my other nails loose and coming off? I have the slightest clue. I have not been rough with my hand at all. The only thing I can think of is the poor quality of material they have. I will NEVER be back here ever again. I’m so sad because now I have to find somewhere else to get my nails done before I go out of town. Be ware! Don’t get SNS done here!
Convenient place to do your nails
Great and competent service. I arrived well beyond the closing time aaaand the last still asked and did what I was looking to do. Sanitary practices and great selection of colour. Plus you need to live the happy hour 27usd for gel.
Well did not get the Special on the gel, but I love the atmosphere and my pedicurist was very nice
I felt like I was in a sweat shop. Very cramped.
A bit lower price but decent service
Rude and inconsistent. Some of the technicians are excellent and others are horrible. The receptionist is exceptionally rude. However, Jesse is great for waxing.
Im a nail girl, so a place that offers champagne while youre getting pampered cant be beat! M-F They have a nail happy hour fo gel manis $27. I personally prefer a gentlemen to do my mani/pedi because in my experience theyre more attentive and detailed. Sometime my gel manis wont last two weeks, but my pedicures always do. I wouldnt suggest going on the weekend unless you HAVE to. They also have another location on 18th which is a little bigger.
I have been to this location several times and my experience has been wonderful. CHRISTINA is the best.
Deon is the Best!!! I will be visiting again.
Good quality pedicure and nice staff!
This is the worst manicure i have ever gotten. They charged me 50$ for a fill and while i was there my nail artist was just straight up rude to me. Ignoring me and yelling at me if i did something wrong. Also it was gel acrylic and they didn’t last. Don’t go here
The guy I had wasnt very nice and the light to set my gel manicure with was kinda janky, but everyone else seemed to be having just a great time!
Nice atmosphere, good service
Best Japanese restaurant I have been to!
Great service and Chi does an amazing job!!
WORST experience ever. Someone answered the phone and could not speak English yet I asked to talk with someone else. I got to the nail shop, and over the phone I was told I would pay $45 for acrylic nails WITH powder. My nail lady then told me that it would be $55. After asking the manager she also told me $55 also and knew the lady who answered the phone in the morning couldn’t speak or understand English either. Poor service. And on top of all this, my nail lady coughed over my champagne. Unacceptable.
