Great nail salon in the Dupont Circle area. I generally make an appointment although the few times Ive walked in theyve had space for me. However, it does tend to get pretty busy on Fridays and on the weekend so its best to make an appointment. The staff here are all very professional and friendly and they take Covid precautions pretty seriously (temperature checks, hand washing upon arrival, sign in sheets, plexiglass, etc). Thankfully they still require masks. Ive gotten manicures, pedicures, and a gel manicure here. The only reason I docked a star off is because Ive noticed that sometimes they dont do the exact shape I want when shaping the nails, although thats a problem at many nails salons. Often Ill just shape the nails myself at home and tell them to just clean up the cuticles and polish which makes things easier. The prices are reasonable for the area. They give you a discount if you pay in cash and theres an ATM in the store. This has become my go-to nail place and I definitely recommend it if youre looking for a consistent and reliable nail salon service.
Anne is really good. :) Very attentive and does a great job. My nails look great and my skin feels super soft. I didn’t feel rushed and was really relaxed the whole time, perfect ending to the weekend. Thank you!
I love coming here for dip powder nails. Total with tip is about $50. The service is great and workers are very nice. I give this place a 4 stars because my nails never come out perfect. First the demo color always looks a little different when applied to my nails. I usually ask for round shape and it sometimes comes out a little misshapen or off center. The issue is never too bad for others to notice which is why I keep on coming back. I’d say it’s only truly work it if you go Mon-Wed when you get $2 off and pay in cash where you get 5% off as well.I have to add that during the summer the location is exceptionally busy and you should make an appointment in advance, during the other seasons I walk in and am usually seated.I would NOT recommend having Tee. I did not like his work and when the color did not come out as the sample showed he was not cooperative and the customer was definitely treated not right.
Nikki was my tech. She was not friendly!I went back a 2nd time. This time Nikki was off her game. Poor attitude, rush job. Horrible results 😫.Definitely NOT returning!!
Had such a great experience with the staff while getting my pedicure. They were very patient with doing my nails and super friendly. Returning to get my nails done!
I have been coming here for about a year. Lynn is the absolute best for dipping powder in the area. I went to many other salons before finding her. My manicures last for 3-4 weeks. I usually end up removing them before they have chipped just because my nails get too long! The pictures I posted are after 4 weeks! I have seen other manicurists at this salon and they are all great- Nikki and Thai especially. Pedicures are excellent as well. On occasion, I have had to wait for my appointment but never more than 15 minutes and they are always very nice and accommodating with a drink while I wait. I have never felt rushed. Everyone takes their time here. Call ahead to make an appointment! It gets busy.
Never had a bad manicure there.
I have been coming to DC Nail Spa for over 7+ years now, and they have provided consistent top-notch quality service time and time again. The staff here are all very professional, nice, and attentive to your needs and often offer suggestions and tips when you need a little help deciding. My go-to favorite is Lynn, she is absolutely phenomenal and has so much talent! Ive been doing dipping powder for as long as it has started becoming popular, and let me tell you, Lynn is the best seasoned technician in the DMV for this service! I absolutely will not go to anyone or anywhere else to get my dipping powder manicures, she is just that good. Since Covid hit this year, I toughed out the many months before I could come back and finally see her, under very clean and preventative measures throughout the space. I used to schedule my appointments with Lynn after work, so I can easily hop on over for some relaxation, but since the pandemic, Ive been working from home full time. I rarely come into the city anymore from where I live in NOVA, but for Lynn, I will make that extra 35+ minute drive on a monthly basis so my nails can get the TLC Lynn and the staff at DC Nail Spa provide to all their customers. You have a loyal customer in me for life!
I just left this place after unfortunately setting up an appointment by accident and asked for Julia (at the time, I believed I was asking for someone at another nail salon that I visited a year ago: Spa Logic). Julia was EXTREMELY rude but I guess she thinks she gets away with it because she is soft spoken. FIRST, I thought she was going to break my right thumb as she twisted it so hard (Im not exaggerating). I actually had let her know she was hurting me before she stopped. SECOND, every time she finished working on one had she would look at me with an attitude which was so apparent even though she was wearing a mask given that she constantly gave me the evil eye while assuming a slouched stance. It was almost as if she was saying that I needed to be ready to alternate to the next hand as soon as she was done. I guess 1 second is too long. This happened about 8 times so, once again, I am not exaggerating (I got a gel manicure). The whole time I was there I just thought what the hell is her problem? -- a question you really dont want to be asking while receiving a service. I could understand if I was rude or difficult but I was as quiet as a mouse and out in 30 minutes. I arrived 10 minutes late but called in advance and there were only 2 other customers there. I reluctantly paid the $37 and gave her a $5 tip which she really didnt deserve. I noticed that she skipped 1 or 2 steps. She is definitely on another level of Les Misérables. My review is strictly based off of my experience with this women. Other than that, the place is clean and quiet and everyone else seems to be nice and professional.
This place is great. They are professional, clean, provide great services, etc. I would recommend making an appointment if you plan to go in the afternoon or weekend. They are busy, so make sure you show up on time to your appointment, or they might have to move on to the next person.
Ive been going here from day one. Nikki is great and always does a fantastic job. Vivian has done it again with their new location...
They did amazing especially with my 8 year old daughter
No two week guarantee on gel manicures. After one week my gel manicures nails were already peeling off. Furthermore the staff is very unfriendly. I asked my nail technician about what I can do about a broken nail that keeps breaking and she just rushed me out the door and offered no advice. “It’s fine it’s fine”. Huh? I will not be back.
By thank you for the perfect service and I love my nails, brows and pedicure. See you next week. A1 top notch service. Please go here if youre new to town or looking for a new place thats professional and relaxing. You cant go wrong.
They did an incredible job. Nikki was my lady. My only complaint is the rude lady they let go before my best friend for her birthday. She just jumped in and sat down even though my best friend had been waiting for 25 minutes and we were on a time crunch. We said something and they fixed her up immediately. We got some wine, some laughs and a great time, I was very please with my nails and they lasted over 3 weeks.
I’ve been coming here since I moved to the area about about a month ago, and I haven’t been disappointed yet! Great service, very clean, and perfectttt nails :)
I love this shop‼️Hands down amazing‼️ clean Professional shop everyone was amazing ‼️I definitely will be back shout out the whole shop not only I want too thank (Tee,Nyamika,Thai,V)❤️❤️❤️‼️💪🏽 For everything 🥰
Today was my first time visiting this place, it’s close to work and I heard good reviews so I was really looking forward to my visit. I got a gel manicure and everything was good except for the actual application of the polish, it felt so rushed. There are bubbles in the polish and you can see the brush strokes, it doesn’t look smooth at all. Will probably not come back.
Thai is the best. My dip powder manicure is perfection. She has great attention to detail. Beyond pleased. Update: if youre looking for fun designs, Lynn is great at small detail, Pinterest-like designs. I cant stop staring at my Halloween themed nails!
Very professional and sweet staff and the work is amazing.
Staff was friendly and place was beautiful but the mani and pedi was not good at all
Best nail salon in DC. Lynn is the best! Been going here for 2 years and always walk away very happy with all services. Wine is always a plus too after a hard days work.
Leaving the salon a little disappointed. I got a full set and asked for coffin shape. I left with an almond shape. The tips kept falling off(not sure if she did not put enough glue or if the glue just wasn’t working) which was ridiculous. With the shape, the pricing and having to take off 4 nails because the glue was not sticking properly, I will not be returning here. Columbia RD has 2 great nail salons that never disappoint and for half the price that I paid here. ($50)Now, a pro from this salon is that they do offer water, juice or wine, but that’s about it.
I stopped in here on a whim and got my first gel manicure (with Michelle, who was great). I forgot to take a picture after I got them done. First pic is one week later, second is two weeks later. I think they will make it three weeks. I haven’t gone easy on them either - dishes, cleaned my house, ceramics classes, etc. Pretty good for $32.
Relaxing manicure and pedicure experience. Call for appt if possible. Great job on my nail dip.
After suffering from bad powder gel experiences, DC nails literally blew me away. I am from New York and just moved to DC. I was determined to find a new nail spot and visited surrounding nail spas only to be left disappointed. Lynn was my manicurist and I could not speak more highly of her! She was clearly very experienced in her craft and had an amazing, warm personality that made me feel right at home. One of my nails broke after I had been trying to grow them out and I was upset about having to cut them down. Lynn told me she could simply add an extension so I could keep my length! It was fast and easy. My nails have NEVER looked better and lasted me over 3 weeks. Last night one of my other nails broke (after 3 weeks of an amazing mani) and I know exactly who I will be going to to fix this!!! Not only is Lynn so experienced and talented, but the environment is so clean and open. Other salons in this area are cramped and unwelcoming. The receptionist is a doll and offers you a drink of your choosing. I don’t mind paying more or waiting longer if it’s to be serviced by this salon. Thank you DC Nails!!!!!
I have been going to DC nail spa for about two years to get their dipping powder. I don’t particularly care for the pedicures but the nails are always amazing no matter who does them. The facility is clean and doesn’t smell of fumes, and it definitely feels like a first class experience every time.
I usually go to Lynn or Thai but since they are both out on vacation, I had to go to Maya for a pedicure and Vivian for my SNS nail service.Today was the worst experience Ive had at this salon and sadly will not returned after being a regular client for a year.As my nails were soaking in acetone during my pedicure (as usual during my appointments) Maya pulled my leg closer to her and the warm acetone spilled all over my lap, seeping into my pants and underwear. Spent 10 minutes in the salon restroom trying to clean up and most importantly make sure all the acetone was removed from causing any problems on my skin down there. An hour after pedicure, my clothes are stained noticeably and skin is irritated down there.I was still charged for the pedicure and received a condescending tone and response by Vivian the spill was not bad and theres nothing she can do, although I have been told she is the owner.I am greatly upset, uncomfortable and displeased with the lack of customer service. Its bad enough that every time I have an appointment, there is confusion. Theres always an attempt to give me to another mail technician that i didnt request or a service is missing. But now Im leaving the salon with acetone stained clothes and underwear, skin irritation and an overall annoyance at the condescending approach.I will be sharing my complaint on every social media platform since the owner refused to accommodate me for the mistake her employee made.I WILL BE GOING TO THE DOCTOR IF SKIN IRRITATION DOES NOT SUBSIDE.
Spotless and very relaxing atmosphere. The staff is very friendly and the pedi chairs are awesome. They offer you complimentary wine and beer. Prices are very competitive. I will definitely be coming back
Saw Michael and he was great! Gave me the perfect coffin shape! The salon is clean and offering you a drink of tea or water is nice touch.
Very friendly staff! My eyebrows and pedicure were awesome!
Great pedicure! Im very picky about my nails and this spa was wonderful. Most importantly, it was very clean. They use new liners on the tubs, change out the jets, and use brand new files/ buffers on your nails. I had Thao she was speedy and efficient!
Loved, Loved with Great service and cleaned
Love this place. Great for people who like a quieter/less stressful experience. Also great for people who like real nail art. Appointments are best. No parking (parking on street but usually non existant).
First time I went I had a female tech (cant recall her name) who was great. Place is very clean and relaxing. They offer you 1 drink. I dont think it would hurt them to be a little more generous with the beverages. Second time I went, I got a male tech. I wanted a cream color gel mani. Color wasnt very nice, had a grayish tint and the gel didnt even last me a week! Chipped off on several nails after 4 days. I think its about having the right person and choosing quality nail polish.
Ive been here on multiple occasions. Salon is clean and peaceful and they do q great job. Julia was fabulous today.
Do not pay $5 for the callous removal, it does not work. Not careful with tools, my toe bled and my nails were cut way too short. Clean, but not a relaxing environment and significantly overpriced.
I truly enjoy DcNail Spa. They are kind, professional, and talented! I have gone every two weeks for the past two 4 months and I am always happy!
My full set and toes didn’t last especially my toes. Diamonds that were an extra ten dollars fell off the next day. Nails started lifting after a week. Customer service was good.
This place was recommended and spoke highly of by another establishment. I wanted to book something special for my wifes first mothers day, and something nice for my mother. While my wife had a good experience, it was the experience of my moms which has earned the one star.Loni needs to learn how to separate herself from her cell phone when she is attending to clientele. I was upset to hear that my mother ended up becoming less important than Lonis phone. She had to tend to her text messages, and her phone calls instead of making my mom the top priority, which I find to be very unprofessional. It is very unfortunate that what was supposed to be a relaxing experience, was turned sour due to one individual whos priorities were not in line, and thus reflected poorly on the business.
Great service. Michelle did a great job on my pedicure. She was attentive and they offered a complimentary drink.
2017: My favorite nail place in all of DMV. Every nail tech is awesome and very professional. I get dip powder nails and they always look bomb. Love this place. Comfortable, clean, and free beverages.Edit: Two years later, I’m still coming here exclusively. If you make an appointment you can minimize your wait time. Trust me you need to. It’s packed there always and for good reason. Every artist does very well. My nails (and pedi) can last me up to a month with dip powder. I’ve been to a lot of places over 7 years and no one beats this team.
I have had my nails done there three times prior to this visit. On those occasions I got the powder manicure. This time I decided to do the regular manicure because the powder polish had chipped and I saw part of my nail peeled off. Additionally, I couldn’t use regular nail polish remover to get the polish off as they had promised. When I paid for this manicure, I found I had been charged a 5.00 removal fee on top of the regular charge for the manicure. I was livid! I didn’t come to simply have the old polish removed, I was also having another service done. I hate when an establishment nickel and dimes its customers. They’ve lost a customer, I’ll never return! I’m always willing to pay for what I want, but I don’t like an additional charge just to increase your profit. I’ve been to nail salons all over the DMV and never has this happened.
This was my first visit and I had a good experience. My mani/pedi was $48 and they will give you a 5% discount if you pay them in cash. They also serve your choice of wine, water or soda while you get pampered
Worst experience ever. Julia acted as though I was inconveniencing her. Will not be back.
HORRIBLE experience! Went in for a fill in. They did an absolutely horrible job and when I asked them to fix it they basically said no. Do not go to this place! They should be out of business.
Great service and my dripped powder nails have lasted two weeks already and don’t seem to need to come off anytime soon!
They do not follow the best industry standards for dip powder nails here. They double dip in the powder and the dip removal process is just asking you to stick your hands in a bowl of acetone for 5-15 minutes.
If you’re going for a gel manicure, you’ll get great service. If you just want a regular manicure, you’re treated poorly and the work is sloppy.
On the rare occasion that I actually have the time to step in somewhere and get a manicure it SHOULD feel like a treat. However, when my mother and I stopped in here on Dec. 30th 2017, we werent treated very well. We had reservations at a restaurant that evening and just wanted to get our nails looking nice before. The ladies providing the manicure services refused to clean our nails, but handed me the tools to do it myself. There was a lot of pressure to get a gel manicure instead of regular polish. Five times I had to turn them down. They did one coat of polish, and no top coat, and encouraged us not to come back. Maybe this neighborhood cant handle real people who work with their hands for a living, but I really dont appreciate being talked down to, or made fun of, in any language.
Best nail shop in Washington DC. Friendly staff greqt service. I have been coming here for years and will continue to do so.
My favorite nail salon in DC. They do a great job.
Nail person was on the phone while performing pedicure. Place was not friendly.
Helen at DC Nail Spa (formerly R&R Nail Salon) has been doing my wax and nails for almost 8 years now. She is excellent and her waxing is quick, fast, and clean. Im always happy with the results. Prior, I have tried other places in DC and waxing was like torture. Once I found Helen, I have been loyal ever since. She is also excellent at mani pedi. Today she did my gel mani pedi, and I love it. Note that R&R Nail Salon changed management around 2016/2017 and the shops name was changed to DC Nail Spa and had undergone renovations. The shop interior looks updated with all new equipment, new manicure-pedicure stations, more pedicure stations on the second level, etc. Most of the R&R staff stayed on (including Helen) and I saw several new staff. They have a new POS system now, more services, more staff. So it is all good. I will continue to see Helen. She is the best.
DC Nail Spa is the new Highest Standard place in DuPont/Kalorama!! I have lived in this neighborhood for more than 20 years, and was never a fan of the Mimosa factory, where there is little ventilation, fees creep up and in fact a diamond ring removed for a manicure went missing years ago. Since then I have loved the former R & R nail salon across the street, where the staff are all excellent, there is a beautiful picture window on either side, lots of fresh air. When I saw it closed I really worried!! Lo and behold it has changed ownership and reopened as D.C. Nail Spa and is better than EVER!! They have retained many of their excellent technicians, but the new state of art massage chairs, array of complementary beverages and freshened up beautiful design put D.C. NAil Spa in the very top in its category, I dare say in any neighborhood in DC! If you are a regular elsewhere, give this place a try, you will return here again and again.
Honestly one of the worst manicures I have ever gotten. I felt like I was being rushed through the whole process. The technician, Michael, barely spoke 2 words to me and I left the salon with messy looking nails. Parts of my gel manicure were so thin - no color consistency. I had nail polish all over the cuticle. Just a messy, rushed job. The salon wasnt busy at all.
Very clean and excellent customer service.
I called when they opened today to make an appointment with Vivian and was told she was out of town and wouldn’t be back until Monday, so I made a general appointment for Nexgen. When Nikki was finishing my nails, I looked up to see Vivian was there. When I asked why I was told otherwise, the lady I spoke to said, “there was an emergency so I called her in.” Idk who this emergency client was, but I found that very rude to lie to clients.
Great service
I received great service from the employees here. My feet and hands thank you.
My go to Nail Salon in the District. They offer beverages, and the atmosphere is lovely.
Friendly welcome, extremely clean surroundings. Latest equipment to sterilize the tools.
Such a clean, relaxing spa for manis and pedis (does not have the overwhelming nail salon smell!) - staff are so friendly and they also have the same conpetetive prices that are offered M-W by surrounding competition.
Told my friend they had a disease and constantly insulted them and humiliated them. Absolute garbage establishment. Don’t pay a single dime to go here. Awful staff and equally poor management.
I came on a business trip to DC and needed to get a manicure and pedicure and found DC Nail Spa. I received wonderful service and my feet and nails have never felt better. I have found a new spot when I came back.
Thao and the other technicians are great.
Good service and drink offerings.
The Best Nail Spa in the City!!!!
Flawless gel mani.
Tee is the greatest.
Disappointing... wont be returning. Didnt get offered anything to drink. Then got switched to another girl who had an attitude and seemed to want to rush me out. Painted on wrong color and when I tried to find one I picked, she acted annoyed.
Quick and well done.
Awesome service as usual
Over charging adding unnecessary fees
