10 years ago, A-1 American Services installed my water heater. Monday afternoon, I noticed the drain pan were full of water so I called the company immediately. Within 30 minutes, technician Jeremy called and told us he was on the way to check the water heater. We were lucky that we caught the problem before any mass damage happened. Jeremy clearly explained the replacement costs with the applicable discounts and scheduled the installment. The next morning, Jeremy showed up on time with the new water heater, and later on the owner of the company also joined him as the helper. They were very professional, friendly and respectable. As well as being efficient, the installation went smoothly and only took 3 hours. Jeremy cleaned up after the work was done, and patiently helped us to fill out the Virginia Natural Gas Energy Rebate form. It was a pleasant experience with the A-1 American Service and is highly recommend of their service to my community.
A-1 American Services plumber Jeremy Shacklotte came the next morning to fix my leaking shower handle. He explained the problem, gave me the price which was fair and fixed the problem quickly. He was very professional and courteous as well as took the time to clean up the mess and ensured the area was clean. No leaking, nice new handle, clean shower!! What more could you ask for!! He did an excellent job. Thank you A-1 American.
Called them to see if I could get an appointment and they dont seem to work off appointments because they couldnt give me one they kept acting like they were trying to work me in their day and on the second day of my calling they still couldnt tell me anything, not impressed with them at all.
Mr. John McClain from A-1 Plumbing is the best plumber I’ve worked with in all my years of home ownership. He repeatedly provided 5-star service and repair to multiple plumbing issues (hot water heater, toilet, bath tub). From the first repair call to the third, was incredibly responsive, knowledgeable, and courteous, making it an easy decision to contact him again when other plumbing issued popped up. I always knew he was providing the highest quality service and not trying to upsell me on some unnecessary part or overcharge me for a repair. In today’s day and age, such honesty is incredibly rare; and when paired with such great expertise, even rarer. Thank you John for your outstanding service!
I’ve had separate issues two summers in a row and Ray has been the technician each time. I appreciate that he shares his knowledge about the issues and things I need to do to continue maintaining the unit. Good guys and i highly recommend.
We called A1 this morning to see about a toilet replacement. they couldnt guarantee they could get someone out to us today but would try. when I explained we needed them right away Jeremy and Lewis called and made arrangements and got to us first thing. they were here for an hour and did a great job including the clean up. very respectable courteous and professional..i would recommend them to a lot of people.
Days before Christmas there was a smell that came through our heater, we called A-1 American and TC came out to take a look. Unfortunately at that point he wasnt able to find anything wrong. Christmas night our heater stopped working. We called A-1 American back and they sent TC back out to us on the 26th. He diagnosed the problem and we asked if it was possible to repair rather than replace, he said he would do what he could. Come to find out the unit we had was from a company that went out of business 7 years ago, he remained determined to do as we asked and he searched for all the parts. He was able to locate all the parts but the price ended up being just a couple hundred less than the price of a new unit. We decided to get a new unit instead. TC was very straight forward about everything with us, and we appreciate that very much.Marcus came with the install crew. There were several people in and out all day taking out our old furnace and installing our new one. At around 6 pm he was the last member of the crew still here and he was bound and determined to have heat for us that night. He was working on it until around 8 pm, but before he left he made sure the heat was working. Unfortunately something happened and it stopped working in the middle of the night. He had been honest with me about certain parts of the installation that hadnt gone quite the way they should have and he assured me that even though the install wasnt done, he would be back out to finish it the next day. He was here first thing the next morning and got everything working just the way it should. He had also explained to me that in the installation process a piece of our ceiling was broke and that they would send someone out to fix it for us.Aaron came out to fix the broken drywall in our ceiling and he did more than I was expecting. He did a fantastic job, and he even took a look at our outdoor unit that had started making noise a few days before. He was able to fix the noise problem, and highly recommended that we get our unit serviced in the spring to keep it in good working order. Which we plan on doing.We are very pleased with the honesty, pride, determination, and work ethic all three men showed us. Not only does it reflect highly on A-1 American for having such outstanding individuals on their team, it reflects highly on them as individuals, and I would highly recommend TC, Marcus, Aaron, and A-1 American to anyone in need of heating help.
Easily the worst HVAC company in Hampton Roads. This company is so scummy that it borders on an outright scam. Its sad that theyd bastardize they name American to this extent. Just open the phone book to heating & air, throw a dart at it and youll find a more honest company.
John, from VB office, determined that my tankless water heater was past repair. He researched applicable units, secured one and handled a large amount of re-work necessary due to mfr re-design of the WH. He stayed with the task for many hours responsibly and properly dealing with all the unexpected re-work.
A1 John service was great. He was very respectful and great customer service with finding the right water heater for my home. Install just took half day and you would have never know he was there after completing the installation water heater.Great work John 👍🏾💯💯💯💯💯

I had a AAA contractor to look at the situation of the leakage that was coming down into my dining room he found that it was the commode he turned off the systems we wouldnt drip anymore A1 later came an hour after that contractor left. A1 evaluate the leaks source which was the commode system. A1 turned the water on the commode and left it on. the system began to leaking again, Since I had to be at work I didnt notice the leaks until after 2 days. He also stated that everything was dry rot it in the commode and he said that he can basically rebuild the commode back at around little over $500 I stated why not get a new commode and he start giving me information that doesnt sound ethical so at that time he didnt do anything but received the money that I paid for him to come and evaluate the leak. The facet was turned off and the tank was low before A,1 arrivedWhen A1 left the facet was back on and leaking, floor wet and water leaking to the DR ceiling.
We found we had a leak from the kitchen drain pipe behind the wall. Jeremy at A1 American arrived on time and quickly identified the source of the leak. He kept us informed as to what he was doing and why he was doing things a certain way. He did not leave until after he had tested everything to make sure the leak had been fixed.
I called A-1 American because I had sewerage backing up in my yard and the were the first to reply. I just want to give great thank you to Keon worked all day to fix the problem. He left after his first visit to let the City of Suffolk to check the line that was theirs and determined it was on my property, Keon called back to see if it was a City problem which it was not. He came back and for the next four hours he worked until the problem was fixed. He was a very pleasant person and answered every question that I had. He was a pleasant young man who worked to fix the problem. Keon thank you very much for everything that you did.
John McClain came out to repair and install new pipes under the sink and fix (and later install a new) garbage disposal so that our dishwasher could drain properly. He was professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. Were grateful to have called A-1 American and to have had John help us out. Were happy with how great everythings running now.
First I would like to thank A-1 American for great service and courtesy and dealing with my HVAC repair. I do not normally do reviews. The knowledge and professionalism that my repair technician TC exhibited while servicing my unit calls for an astronomical level of appreciation.. Thank you!I would like to Momentarily bring you into my world. I have a two-year-old unit that literally just stopped. After calling for hours on end trying to contact an HVAC company that could come out at 9 oclock pm on a weekend was hard. Needless to say there was no HVAC for me that night. The next morning I woke up with an urge to call on a large company and just see how it goes. I tend to like the call on small business owners. I I called a one American already frustrated as you can imagine. I had to go into the hospital for an appointment while I was in the hospital the A-1 team had a master technician already alerted and he said he was able to be at my home when I came home from the hospital. When I arrived shortly after TC did as well. He may have spent 15 minutes in the attic came down and told me that he could be back in the morning to fix my issue. I knew he knew what he was talking about the vibe he gave, It exuded confidence! He came back the following morning as he said he would when in the attic I had air conditioning within 5 minutes.. Through all of this A-1 American recognized what a lot of people take for granted, military service.... This was a pleasant surprise. Thanked me for my service acknowledging my service by telling me that they take pride in making sure the veteran population and are appreciative and taken care of as a company. For this I proudly say I am always A-1 American
I have not had the best experience with this particular contractor. I will not name the technician that service my equipment but he was not polite and his customer service was trash. Talking to management wasnt any better and my issue never got resolved. (Thank you for responding because the full story is such. Not even two years ago my 94 year old grandmother got you guy to install a gas package unit. Not even 30 days after the installation the compressor went out and instead of taking the unit out. Your company convinced my grandmother in the middle of June that replacing the compressor was the best option at that point and you could be out next day to replace the compressor. The other option was to wait two weeks until you could send someone out to take the defective unit out. So of course she said replace the compressor to get some cooling. Fast forward to today and your company again with poor customer service wanted to charge my grandmother for a disconnect box that should have been replaced at the time of the installation of the package unit, the front desk representative hung up the phone on my grandmother, and TC a technician told me that he did not feel the need to give me a courtesy call when he was in route to the property. So yes I refused service from this pass poor company)
This company has the worst customer service. They fixed a leak in a water line in our yard a couple years ago. We noticed water on the sidewalk and low and behold we have a leak in the same spot. It is supposed to be a 24 hour service but never got a call back over the weekend after several messages. I called this morning and one of them called and said they would be here in an hour. He showed up two and a half hours later. Was here briefly left to go to Home Depot came back was here a while and left agai. For a little bit. When I got home at 4:45 he was wrapping it up for the day and said he would be back in the morning. Was told when he got here he would finish the job today. Assures me we should have no problem using the water in the house which was not the case. Water did not work in the house. Look outside and it is flowing everywhere. I call the company then had to call back an hour and a half later before the plumber finally calls me back just to tell me he can co e out and turn the water off at the main so it is no longer flowing and he would come back in the morning. I call the company back again and leave a message to have a manager call me and they have the same plumber call me. If this is the way the managers and owners want to run a company I would not recommend them. We now have no water in our house and a floodin our yard out into the street and they just leave it that way.UPDATE:After speaking with the owner of the company the same evening of this review. They sent a couple different plumbers out the very next morning. They made sure we were taken care of and did an amazing job through the whole process. Thank you again for a job well done.

I called A-1 American Services because I needed my laundry tub clog issue taken care of. Keon came out & never tried to do anything. He told me that he would have to remove the trap & bring a machine in that would cost me $685. I could not believe him! He kept pressuring me to sign a blank contract in two places. I told him that I had already signed once for the service call. I told him that I would have to get advice from my son & he could come back another day. He told me that I would have to pay another service charge & it would cost me $385 an hour when they came back. I called my son & he told him they would honor it if they came back. He started filling out the contract while he talked to my son on the speaker phone. I called them back on Aug. 5 & spoke with Matt. I asked for the manager & he told me he wasnt sure if he was there. He got my name & address. He said he caught Ray (his supervisor/manager) as he was going out the door & that Ray would call me back. I then asked for the owner & he wouldnt give me a phone # to call - only that his name is Skip. I told Matt that I was going to report them to the BBB ( which I did). He said he would call Keon & call me back. It is now over 5 weeks & I still havent received any calls from any of them. My son came over & disconnected the p trap, used needle nosed pliers to pull out a golf ball sized lint ball. He also ran a 15 foot sink snake & the line is perfectly clear. My son said the plumber should have easily fixed this! I didnt call him in the first place because he is very busy with his two businesses & I figured a plumber was needed. I shouldnt pay for him to drive over here to quote an insane price without attempting to fix or diagnose. I did not receive any service - he could have done what my son did & I would have gladly paid more even though the $78 service charge should have been sufficient! They are scammers & I just want to warn others.
Completely disreputable company that doesn’t offer the necessary support for it’s poor quality products and does not truthfully honor the warranties for said products. Do yourself a favor and avoid future headaches. Go elsewhere.

David came by and found the leak under the bathroom sink. He explained what he needed to do to fix it. He was very professional and thorough. He took the time to explain things to me and answered the questions that I had. He cleaned up after himself. I hope you know what a great plumber you have representing your company. He is 1st class and I will not hesitate to call your company for any other plumbing or other needs.
On this past Wednesday after giving my son a bath I remembered I was slow cooking my food in the oven. I quickly ran downstairs to check and my feet got wet passing through the living room to the kitchen.🤦 I saw that it was coming from the bathroom and when I opened the door.............💦water was everywhere and still coming up through the toilet downstairs!!! I got it all cleaned up and turned the water off behind the toilet and called my Super Realtor from ReMax Central😉. She got a guy to come the next day and after he discovered how serious the issue was of the main line being clogged an amazing expert from A1 had to be called to come in and get the job done. JEREMY came on a late night emergency call and did just that!!!!! He got the job done and had the water flowing and he even put the toilet back that was removed by the prior guy. I could not be more appreciative of this guy and I thank him wholeheartedly!☺ THANK YOU A BUNCH JEREMY🙌🙋
DO NOT USE A-1 American!!!!! We paid to have a control board replaced, that had to be order . The technician named Doug Jackson made clear thats all it was. 24 hours after he replaced it there is NO A/C it is 90 degrees outsideAnd feels hotter in the house but not only does the AC not work it now doesnt even show the temp in the house. less then 24 hours, hundreds of $$$ later calling and stressing the fact that there is a young child in the house. Im told it will be at least 4 days before it can even be scheduled to have someone come out to check. Yet they advertising 24 hour emergency services this is by far the most crooked company I have ever seen!!!! The guy came out to look at me hvac unit in the backyard because it wasnt blowing out heat. He said I needed a new unit for $7,200. I agreed and signed a contract saying yes they could install one. He went to go pick it up. While he was gone I called my friend and told them what the guy said & they told me no call the guy back and tell him you dont want it you changed your mind because thats to much especially since you only had that unit two years. I called him back and told him I didnt want it anymore but he told me it was to late because I already signed a contract so I owe 10% of that because I had already signed a contract. Nowhere on that contract does it say if you dont want the product anymore theyre going to charge you 10 percent. The company took advantage of . They arent an honest company and they price gained during a pandemic. I dont even think they deserve 1 star but Im being gracious. They take advantage of people but evetually karma will get them.
Had a problem with my toilet, called A-1 American and Jeramy showed up, dianosed the problem, explained it to me then wentto work on the toilet. He was very professional and diligent i am very happy with the out come. i will call Jeramy jf i ever nerd them again, A Happy Costumer
David arrived on time on day one of what turned into a multi visit job(s). Not due to any fault on his part. He was clean and courteous and explained everything before initiating repairs. Parts availability delayed work due to age of fixtures but David came through remaining in touch until all work was complete and done to our satisfaction.Would definitely recommend.
They were a rip off charged me $500 for a $5 part. People work too hard for their money to be taken advantage of. Will never use this company!
The good- Leak is fixed and the plumber was nice/professional.The bad- They advertise you pay by the job not the hour. Well that didn’t work out so well for me. $689 for 2 hours of work- reset upstairs drain and sealed shower faucet. The only materials used was some sealant. That’s nearly $350 an hour and that didn’t include repairing the drywall that was cut into. Not that I expect a plumber to do drywall but for nearly $700 I would have expected some 24k gold leafing on the pipes. I’ve had entire bathrooms re-plumbed in renovations for that price. I felt taken advantage of as it was clear I was desperate to get it fixed as I just moved in and was the only one home at the time.
Gentleman came out to my home, to look at my heating unit. I advised the gentleman that the gas company came out because of a CO2 emission from the unit. The tech turned the unit back on (after I advised him that Va Natural Gas advised NOT to turn the unit on). He turned the unit back on and left it on, leaving my family and myself exposed to CO2 leaking. An absolutely dangerous and potentially deadly situation! Horrible experience period!
What a soup sandwich I inherited from this company! They installed a new Goodman system in the house right before I bought it which I thought was a great selling point. Unfortunately, everything they did was DONT DO 101. I have had 3 companies come and look at it because it just runs all day everyday and now I have to have the whole system uninstalled, turned around to face the right way, reconnected, and all the ductwork reinstalled. None of the joints were sealed properly, had 4 takeoffs within a 2ft length, and duct running straight off the end of the main duct on both trunk lines. Definitely take your business somewhere else and save yourself the headache. Also forgot to mention that the unit didnt even have a drier in line on the compressor. Thx for reading.
I called somewhere else first and they said next available appt was in 6 days. I had a clogged toilet and couldn’t wait 6 days. So I called A-1 American the lady on the other end was so nice!! They had someone at my house within 2 1/2 hours! The serviceman, David, Was OUTSTANDING! He was very kind and courteous and took care of the problem quickly and efficiently. Then he went back in after he was done and cleaned up after himself! I will most DEFINITELY use A-1 America again for any needs that they provide. 5 stars in my book!!
Had water dripping from the ceiling from a water heater that needed to be replaced. The office quickly got a technician to our place. David was terrific to work with and we are pleased to have the job done professionally and in a timely manner. David was courteous, skilled and a good communicator of what needed to be done at each step of the process.
Day one, I called A-1 American for help. Day two, Jeremy came to inspect and diagnose the problem. Day three, Jeremy and Alec returned with the parts needed to fix my water heater. One-two-three done! Both these young men were courteous, knowledgeable, and professional. I highly recommend this company and trust them to help me out with all my plumbing needs.

For the price to replace an external faucet I was expecting a professional job!! Contacted company last Thursday and appointment made for Saturday. Technician made contact Saturday morning and stated they were very busy and might arrive that afternoon. No other communications until Sunday at 3:30PM, at which time new appointment made for Tuesday. As displayed in the attached pictures, the old faucet was mounted against the siding and the new faucet was installed protruding about one inch from the siding with some installation tubing wrapped around. Would not recommend A1 American, poor workmanship.
He worked very hard was on time and kept me informed so I knew when to expect him. I called A-1 Amercian about a water leak from my water heater. Within an hour they sent David to access the situation. Turned out that I needed a new one. David came the next day and installed it and it looked really good. He was very knowledgeable and very professional throughout the process.I appreciated his attention to detail. A-1 America Services was a life saver. I had a valve break and water pouring out all over the floor in my laundry room. I called to make an emergency appt. They said they were booked but would try their best to have someone come out asap. Within 3hrs Nicholas was knocking on my door. He was friendly,professional and efficient. I was so impressed I called the office. I told assoc. Rachel how much I appreciated how they were able to resolve my unfortunate situation. I will recommend A-1 for future services.
I required a total AC upgrade and duct work replacement this summer. It was estimated to be around $11k. I called around, and the prices were fair for the amount of work required. It was a lot of work...The initial install from the time I arranged for everything to be done and it actually being done was not exactly speedy. My home was a pleasant 94 degrees inside for about 10 days. I purchased a portable AC unit so I wouldnt unexpectedly come home to baked felines. There was no offer for a service of renting a portable AC unit. Just know that going in when it feels like the crust of the sun has entered the atmosphere outside of your home...and inside for that matter. It was cheaper to buy the unit than find a hotel that accepts pets in the summer time around here.The ductwork install I knew was going to be a hot mess. My attic entrance is probably in the most ridiculous location ever. The 1960s architects that designed this particular gem were obviously not paying attention to practicality. The removal of my old ducting went surprisingly quick, but it was surprisingly quick because they didnt clean up after themselves very well. There was fiberglass in my carpet outside of the attic entrance, all the way down the stairs, and they left trash bags full of old insulation in my driveway. Not a huge deal in the short term...but then things got interesting.During the AC/Ductwork install fiasco, they knocked plaster away from my air inlet vent. Probably because they were trying to beat the air inlet cover into place. Im not averse to people using hammers bend their frustrations on inanimate objects to do their bidding, but in this particular case that hammer was used in excess. I actually thought they were going to replace that particular part, but they did not. So when I complained that it looked like the entire cast of Oceans 11 came by with a crow bar and pulled the corner of my vent duct inlet out thinking I had a stash of casino winnings in there, the ductwork guy said he couldnt do anything about it because thats how it was. 3 months later, and several patient but also snarky phone calls later, I may finally have a plaster guy coming out to the house. Maybe its been 4 months. I dont remember, its been a hot minute. The contractor also cut an old filter in half (that had been chillin in my attic for more than 10 years) and laid them side by side in my air inlet, because the one he installed apparently wasnt correct. He cut the air inlet cover to fit in the opening and beat it into place with the aforementioned hammer, so it still looks like I didnt pay $11k for his services. I cant use the original opening levers for it, because he cut them off and screwed the cover into my wall. Convenient.When the electrician arrived during the AC install, he performed some sort of space magic on my gas heater thermostat and it disappeared, never to be seen again by all of mankind. Why he removed it, I will never know as it is a separate system altogether. A month after my AC was installed, they finally replaced my missing thermostat.A week after my AC install, my living room starting snowing fiberglass insulation like a Chicago blizzard. A few days later, some guys came over and rechecked all of my ductwork connections, cleaned out the exhaust vents in my ceiling, and swept behind my couch.All in all, kind of a horror story. Theres a bonus star for friendly (albeit not adequate) customer service, the fact that the AC unit actually works, and a good warranty program. Minus stars are for poor quality assurance, and not prioritizing the completion of work after the unit is checked off as installed and is paid for. And by not prioritizing I actually mean its going to be a few months before they care enough to come over and fix what they broke. Their follow up with install issues is actually trash garbage and should be evaluated within the company to fix it...fair price or not, waiting months for resolution because they hired poor contractors is unacceptable.
Jake B. was my technician and he came out on Sunday for an emergency concern with the smell of smoke when I turned on my heat. He explained everything to me and we scheduled a service date of Tuesday to install a new HVAC system (mine was 16 yrs old and needed to be replaced). Jake has over 40 years of experience and was very knowledgeable and honored every aspect of what quality service is. I highly recommend him from A-1 American and hope that everyone has the same experience that I did, especially since this is such a high (unexpected) expense.
From the start to the end everyone I spoke with was very kind. I had an emergency water heater replacement job needed. Rachel took my call and she was friendly, understanding and extremely helpful. Jon completed the work at my rental property and kept me informed the entire time. He was able to give me amazing recommendations and a great deal. Matt at the office was also very helpful when I made a quick call about something to the office. Thank you A-1, I will definitely reach out again if needed.
When I called for maintenance service, the on-call scheduling employee, Rachel, was extremely helpful, professional, and patient. It was my first time requiring this type of service, so I was a bit confused on the process, but Rachel did an excellent job at explaining it and scheduling my service call.
Do not call unless you want to throw your money away. They will charge you an arm and a leg to seal a leak. It will cost you 591 dollars for them to seal and tighten a pipe. They will not provide you with any explanation for this. We did call the management for the cost and pricing. They told us they will call us back we called more than three times and still no answer. They will also wait a month to charge you for the service itself. They are not a business but a con. Do not recommend would give zero stars if it was an option.

AC was blowing hot air in upstairs on Saturday night; downstairs thermostat indicated 72 degrees, while upstairs thermostat indicated 85 degrees. Started calling 24-hour ac repair companies Sunday morning at 8 am, Doug (actual technician) with A-1 answered the phone and was at my house within 1.5 hours. He quickly diagnosed the problem, repaired the starter motor, and had cold ac blowing upstairs within 30 mins. Great experience and will definitely recommend A-1 in the future.
Not very good, out of the gate. However, after a call to the Virginia Beach office and speaking with Ray (Lead Tech) specifically...everything was indeed A-1. Great recovery, professionalism and work. Recommended.
My Sons AC quit working (he’s in the Navy, and was out, leaving just my daughter-in-law and their newborn baby) creating a blistering environment for them. TC with A-1 responded quickly and repaired the problem in just a few minutes. Thanks TC! Great job.
I would not recommend this company after this experience. No communication from them signed a contract with them to replace an A/C heating unit. While installing on a Friday a storm came up and they could not finish the job plus T.Cs twins were having a birthday party that weekend. So he forgot to tell me after on that Friday I had paid them in full for my elderly mom that the gas line had to be replaced and said it would be 1,500.00.He told me on a Monday not figuring that might be important to the home owner.He then came back out on Monday that I was taking my mom to chemo treatment and she agreed to have him replace the gas line for no more than 1,000.and placed a dog house up and did not seal it wires are coming out of the unit and would get a crew together for the gas line replacement.So while at her chemo appointment T.C drops off the contract for the gas line contract #129344. That was the last we have seen the company and not heard a word from T.C since June 29. Since dropping off the contract my mom has died. Thanks for ripping off a dying woman. Will never use a veteran owned company again even though my dad himself is a veteran.
Had a new Rheem water heater installed. Was planning for a tankless system, but the technician showed us why that was impractical for the way this house was designed. Work was done by Jeremy Shacklette. He was knowledgeable, courteous, provided good advice and did what he said he would, when he said he would do it. Cant ask for more.
I had my water heater leak in my attic and A1 was there to answer the call. I had Jeremy and Chaz arrived at my house within the hour to diagnose and give an estimate within 10 minutes. They were willing to do the job right then and there, but we decided to get it started first thing in the morning. Customer service, knowledgeable, and professionalism is the best way to describe these two technicians. The job was done within 5 hours and looked fantastic. Its good to know there are still people that take pride in their craft. Will definitely be doing business with A1 again.

We purchased a new AC unit from A-1 American and their service has been excellent. We would like to specifically recognize Mike for going above and beyond to get out to us even over a holiday weekend. He came out to make sure our AC was working (which it was) but the issue was on technical set up of our Nest as we couldn’t adjust the schedule. We tried to work out the set up on our own but when we asked him to come out again just to help us with the set up, he was very accommodating. We thought we needed a new Nest unit but did not once he was able to help (although he was going to replace if we did). He is very accessible via text and worked around of schedule, which is greatly appreciated. We would highly recommend A-1 American!
We asked a1 American to come out and evaluate our HVAC system.which was blowing warm air.they offered to install a brand new unit at a flat rate of $6,000 with no explanation of the details .upon a second opinion, come to find out the system worked fine except that it was a little low on the refrigerant which got replaced plus some stop leak its been over a month and the system is working terrifically. We have just now received a belligerent phone call, from the workmen who came out to diagnose our system, whom we thought was a technician, and we are now being threatened to giving us a bad hit on our credit report. We are trying to figure out if a professional company, is trying to make us pay for a bogus diagnostic just to try to sell a brand new $6,000 unit, if that is legal? Has anyone else received this type of horrible service from a1 American please reply to [email protected] are seeking to begin a class action suit, report to the better business bureau, and also contact the State corporation commission. My mother called for emergency HVAC services.They told her someone could arrive the next day, but could not give her an arrival window. After 1pm on the day of service she called A1 to get an update on the technicians arrival. That representative said she couldnt tell her anything because the technicians were not in the office. I guess they dont have phones or some system of relaying their status to one another.??? After some prodding, Customer Service looked at their roster to see if the service call was on that days list and told my mother there were three jobs ahead of her .They said she didnt have wait at home because they would call when he was on the way After thinking it over my mother called back to see if the technician could really get to her that day since he had so many jobs ahead of hers.This customer service rep told my mother that they have been 2-3 days behind PRIOR to my mother contacting themand there was no guarantee she would even be helped the following day as they only have 3 technicians. She also said my mothers name was not on todays list for any of the technicians - she was on a standby list. When my mother contacted A1 American they offered her next day service knowing they are several days delayed all along. When questioned, All the lady would say is that she wouldnt have handled my mothers calls the way her co-workers had and she could help her call around for service from another company. They had also offered my mother a returning customer discount which they denied because they could not find that she had been a customer before.Due to copd my mother is having trouble breathing in this heat. They are putting her at risk with their tactics. She is now faced with finding another provider and paying extra for after hours service or weekend service . She had also asked them to look at a small plumbing repair at the same time and she will now be required to pay two separate service calls unless she can find another company that offers both HVAC and plumbing services.This an unacceptable way to handle your business and customers. It would have been better if you had been honest the first or second time she called you so she could have found someone to help her quickly. It took three calls for the real story to be given. Every other company contacted knew their availability at the initial call. She hired A1 American because you said you could offer next day service. We would not known what was going on if she hadnt called back a third time and pressed for a better answer. She would have been waiting for days because your customer service was not truthful. I would give negative stars if I could.
TC and team did a great job installing the upstairs/downstairs unit in a timely fashion. I always knew when he was coming and what to expect. The units work great and look great.
I dont even know where to start. We called this place because our A/C wasnt working. This man, came in super late several days after when he was supposed to come in for a check up. Claims that the compressor needs to be replaced and it would cost over 3k. Luckily, we found out that there is nothing wrong with our A/C but some of the lines were mixed up causing malfunction. Which I assume it was a doing of technician so he can charge us more money. It wasnt like that before this man came in for check up. This place is a scam, and needs to be shut down immediately. Literally call anywhere else besides here.

Paying $318 for someone to spend 15 minutes telling me exactly what I already know and call it a fall check-up is unbelievable. Bait and Switch on the pricing. Wont use again.
I would give them no stars if possible. The tech was rude and short like he had better things to do. He was only here for half an hour at the most and charged around a grand and said there was no guarantee. Of coarse never did fix the problem. Still having issues. They totally took advantage. Be warned.
I wish I could share picture of how dirty my bathroom was left. The plumber from this company was suppose to find out why my pipes were backed up and ended up quoting to have all my drain lines replaced. I went ahead with the extremely high quote and what was suppose to be a two day job has now been 5. My plumbing is still backed up and nothing is different beside the way he has destroyed my house. I will be talking to the owners tomorrow and I will not be letting the tech back in my house. This is beyond crazy!!! Then he charged me 750 to sump my basement just to look at the plumbing he said was ruptured!! Wow. What’s the worst of it all is that he stayed til 9pm working each day and had me and my wife helping him with the bathroom plumbing because he could not do. It alone. Unacceptable!!!!
A-1 American provided excellent and quick service. They came out to service and repair my heating system and furnace. I had no heat for a week. My heat was just not working. The tech told me I have an Apollo system that uses my water heater to heat my furnace. They fixed it same day on a weekend. Fast, friendly, and courteous, I highly recommend their service. I would recommend them to anyone for heating, cooling, and plumbing.
My mom has used them over the years -AWAYS excellent service and great value. I trust them when they come to my mom’s home (she is a widow) and I live out of state! They respond quickly- accurately assess the issue-and promptly make the necessary repairs! I highly recommend!
I had a very noisy unit at my investment property which had been noisy from the time it was installed 2 years ago. The company that installed it (not A-1 American) was non-responsive to calls made by my tenant or me to address the problem. As I am about to move a new tenant into the property, I called A-1 American and Jake B diagnosed the problem and even did the repair on a Sunday so that the unit would be nice and quiet for my new tenants.
David was very helpful in finding the problem. He got right on it and was done in no time. Very great customer service. Will be using them again if need be.
I have never experienced anything as bad as I have in hiring A-1 sewer and drain. I called at 9am and was told that they would schedule the repair and get back to me. I got a return call after wasting a day at 4pm stating that their tech was running behind and that it would take place in approximately 2 hours. No call until 9:45 pm stating that they would schedule me 1st in the mourning. I got the call at 8:30am and the tech moved on to other jobs as I took a shower and was not available for the 4 second phone call. I called the office where the receptionist informs me that she must call the supervisor Ray to schedule me again with a different tech. The tech arrives at 11:30am and immediately refers to a price booklet which states for A-1 plumbing that unclogging a garbage disposal will cost $566.00. I was shocked! Then the tech tried to inform me that no one guarantees their work and provides the quality of A-1 sewer and drain. The tech then asks for my credit card and begins to ring me up for a job quoted on google that should cos: (Clog: $150 to $200. You may need to clear the pipes or plumbing further down than the sink or shower drain. Jam: $0 to $100. Try to clear it yourself by cleaning the garbage disposal.) Wow, the tech disassembled the disposal found that it wasnt clogged and then after an hour of banter tried to upsell me to replacing the disposal for over $1100.00. Again, I was SHOCKED! I called a competitive certified plumber who informed me that the job would cost $375,99. I will also tell you that in my dissatisfaction of wasting 2 days while attempting to be rung up for huge bills, that the supervisor would not speak with me. I have called my credit card company in fear that I will be charged for an over estimated repair that never took place. The tech was not even able to reassemble the disposal he took apart! I have a pan under my sink until a real plumber can fix it for a reasonable price! If I could rate A-1 in negative stars what do you think I would do?
I have use A1 in the past and for the most part satisfied, however, my last experience was a waste of time and money. My A/C was not blowing air and temp would not go below 78 with the unit running non stop. The tech (Thomas) arrived, he looked at my thermostat and told me that is was cheap, he then looked (literally stood there and looked) at the unit in my attic, then went outside and looked, again stood there and looked at the unit, came back in the house put a tissue on the return and said that basically I could have a blockage in the system but suggested I just replace the unit because I had a mis-matched system. I told him that A1 installed the system and dont know why they would mis-match it. I asked him if he could check to see if the system was clogged, his reply - that would be a waste of time, that I should just replace the unit. When I questioned him he got rude and told me that he would not give me anymore advise. He was at my house for all of 10 minutes, he never even picked up a tool to check anything. I had to pay a $78.00 service fee for him to look around scratching his head.
I had an issue with my tankless water heater and A-1 came out to take a look. I was initially told this might be about a 4 hour fix; whatever, thats fine. 7 hours later, they told me they need to get parts for it because a lot of issues came up with things needing to be replaced. These guys came back about two more times before they said they needed another part and then it took almost two weeks for them to get that part and finish the job on my water heater.This sounds like a terrible review, but the whole time they were working with me, I could tell they were genuinely concerned with helping me and making sure everything was in order. Rachel, at their office, was always so kind and sweet when I called in about something. John was the technician who was working on the heater, and he was really good about communicating what was wrong and what he was doing to fix it. This is a very professional and kind group of people that I was happy to work with.To top it all off, they sent me a nice letter in the mail to apologize about the delay and how long everything took. For them to take the time to do that is an amazing thing to me, and I greatly appreciated it. The only reason Im going with 4 stars is because I rent the home Im at, so I never had to see a bill for anything. I suppose the price of all of this might have changed my feelings about them one way or the other, but Im sure it wouldnt have been by much.

I called the office at 12:14pm because my air conditioner went out the night before. Joe was the technician that showed up to my home around 3:30pm the same day. Joe was not only very professional but knowledgeable about his job as well. Joe explained to me not only what the issue was but how to prevent it from happening in the future. Joe further explained the importance of using the proper filter and what will happen if the freon gets low. Joe was very positive and pleasant as he explained all of these things. Very few people understand the important of giving fantastic customer service not because their position requires it but its a personal expectation. Joe clearly demonstrated that he strives for giving excellent professional and customer service. Not only will I use A-1 American Services for any future service issues I may have but I will recommend you to anyone needing pleasant and professional service. I purchased a Trane combo unit back in 2018. I was told at the time that I could wait two years until I would need to perform a routine AC checkup. I called last week and was told the AC tuneup was going to be $159. I asked the receptionist why so much since so many others are in the $59 to $89 range. She insisted A-1 does a 30 point checkup and that the coils would be cleaned, etc. I went ahead and scheduled the service. When the tech called me Wednesday morning, he said he had just found out about the appt and could he come that night instead of the agreed upon morning slot. I said no. He said fine and he would come. For the $159, he was her maybe 5 mins. He stuck the device that reads the pressure and freon on for maybe 10 secs. And only on one outlet. Said it looked good. Looked inside from the top and said everything looked clean and he was done. I was astonished. He then said that was going to be $189. Are you kidding me. I will NEVER have this company come onsite ever again. I have never been so disappointed in a service company.

They also replace a 10 foot pipe at the meter that was cracked when they notice the area around the water meter was soaked and wet. Jeremy and Chaz are outstanding plumbers. Deal with Confidence. I want to say thank you to Aaron Savell for helping my 90 year old grandmother with her hot water heater Saturday. It suddenly went out and he came over immediately and saw it needed to be replaced. He got an estimate hours later and then came BACK the same day to install! This is the true meaning of customer service. Words cannot describe how extremely grateful I am to know there are companies out there that TRULY care about helping others. I am an A1 American customer for life. No need to look anywhere else. Forever grateful.
I had used A-1 American a couple of times in the past and was pleased with their work. The most recent time I called them to help me out with a rush request to repair items on an inspection report, prior to the sale of my home. They came out quickly and the three separate guys they sent out for both HVAC and plumbing issues were all professional, friendly, courteous and they timely fixed all of my issues so that I could close on my house. I recommend this company to anybody in need of plumbing or HVAC work.Jim

We just had a major HVAC issue, which resulted in much more than just a new Carrier unit...gas pipes needed updating and most of the existing and ancient duct work needed replacement as well.... in our crawl space. James was the lead on this project with 2 experts Bronson and Kevin doing the extensive make over during high August temperatures. Excellent team work, followed by many expertly performed clean ups. We were in the final week of selling our house so finding a good contractor was critical to completing the sale. Aaron and Dave from A-1 came to the house and fixed all the inspection discrepancies and found other plumbing and HVAC issues that needed corrected. They finished all the work in one afternoon and I wasnt even in town. There work was noted as exceptional by the inspector and they were key to allowing us to complete the house sale. They are A-1 !!
