I manage 2 similar apartments in a highrise. Sears charged $200 more and did less at apartment #607 than another company did for the same service call at apartment #810. Sears had previously been to #810, charged $89 and did nothing. Told me the unit needed to be replaced. The other company fixed #810 and was able to come within 72 hours. Sears had to schedule 2+ weeks out. Sears woukd not refund my $89 for #810.

What a scam. The technician came to the house looked up the oven and said they don’t make parts for it anymore. Collected his $109 fee and left. I looked up the parts online and found them from three different places. One parts house was only 15 min away. I called Sears immediately and they would not refund the service call. I asked to speak with a supervisor and was told they would call me within twenty four hours. Never received a call. Ultimately found another appliance repair guy and he got the parts and installed them in about 20 minutes. NEVER using Sears again. If it’s not in their parts warehouse then they say it’s not available and take your money and run. There was no option for zero stars so forced to give them one they didn’t deserve.

If you enjoy being treated badly, I highly recommend purchasing a warranty from Sears. The technicians who came to my house were great. I have no complaints about them. That said, the service through Sears is absolutely TERRIBLE. My fridge was deemed irreparable and I was told by the techs I would hear from Sears warranty in 3 days about my replacement. That was 12 days ago (8 business days). Leaving a family or anyone for that matter without a fridge for so long is unforgivable. When I call to get a status they say “trust me” they’ll call and you’ll get a new fridge. I don’t trust them and will never, under any circumstance ever purchase anything from Sears again.

Worst, worst, worst. Setup appt a week ago to look at my freezer today from 8am-12pm. At 1pm (an hour after the appt) they sent a email changing time and date (another week). Called and I got a sorry, they would not reduce the price for the inconvenience. These companies forget we have to work, we have to make a schedule also, taking time off for this cost us money + the money to pay them. No courtesy call prior, no contact to ask for a better date and time, just assigned, no reason for cancellation. Work ethic seems to be going out the window nowadays. I dont recommend them to anyone, especially with this kind of customer service and high price.

I cant help but feel that the technician installed a faulty part after I declined the home warranty offer. Obviously the part didnt start to fail until after the 90 day mark. During the visit the technician was very courteous and understanding and overall professional. My only gripe is the faulty part used to replace an already faulty part, I just hope they dont install mine in someone elses refrigerator, seeing as how whoever is fixing the parts doesnt necessarily FIX them.

First I want it known that this review is NOT about my local repair company that was doing the work for Sears. Its about the overall company. Im sorry that this review is connected to a local company. The really good - The repairman Anthony did a really good job in fixing the problem with my refrigerator/freezer that was still under warranty. He did this with a better repair part then was there originally, knowing that the problem may happen again. He put a notice on the back of the refrigerator describing what he did if further repairs are necessary. He was professional, answered all my questions and efficient. The REALLY REALLY bad - The process that Sears Home Services uses for scheduling repairs is DREADFUL!!!!! You cant talk to anyone who can do anything. I had a scheduled appointment that was confirmed via text, email, etc. But on the day they were to come - no show!!! I called and they told me the appointment was for a week later despite my proof that this wasnt true. After getting cut off twice and having to start all over again I finally got to a supervisor who was also pleasant but absolutely no help either. All he could say was that someone had cancelled the appointment. They never called me and made no effort to get there the next day. I was out a refrigerator for 2 weeks at that point!!! The supervisor said all he could do was send an email and that someone would call me. Which of course never happened. The appointment I could get was for 10 days later!!!!! Thankfully the next day I managed to grab an appointment for the following day. I had to rent a refrigerator and now I have to fight them to get that paid for now since it was in the warranty period. If I could avoid it I would NEVER use Sears repair service again.

I have a warranty. They sent A and E to fix my AC. I was told the sensor unit was bad and that they had to order it and would call for appt to fix it. No one called. A few weeks later I called them, they kept transferring me to different dept after I was told that the tech listed it as fixed and closed my ticket. No parts were ordered. Then after a couple of hours I was told they could come out in a month. I have been living in over 100 degree weather, I have health issues and that didnt matter. When I tried to put in a complaint, I was hung up on. I tried calling A and E and was put on hold forever, no one answered. Sears used to be good, Ive been using their repair service for over 20yrs. Now they suck and dont care about their clients, neither does A and E.

Initial repairman was very nice, but also very late and outside the 4 hour window initially indicated. Had to call to find out ETA. Repairman said parts would have to be ordered, sent to my house, and then repair scheduled for 2 weeks later. Here is where the nightmare began.I received only 1 of 2 parts ordered. I called to find out what had happened to the missing part, spoke to 6 different people, sat on hold for 1 and 1/2 and I finally got to one person who was able to tell me that it looked like the part had been cancelled but they didnt know why and that they would get back to me, which they never did. I called again to check on it, and got the runaround again. I asked to speak with a manager and they transferred me to someone in parts, who after an almost 2 hour wait, was unhelpful and rude. This person said the part had been cancelled and I would have to wait until Thursday when the repairman showed up and if he needed it, then he could order it then. Which means I would have to wait another two weeks to get my dryer repaired.I ended up just buying a new dryer from Lowes online, which I got 48 hours later. Wish I had just done that in the first place, instead of being without a dryer for 3 weeks and going through so much frustration. After much complaining on the Sears Home Services Twitter page, I had about 4 people call me to attempt to rectify the situation, and they did at least refund the money for the parts I was charged for. The diagnostic fee of $109 for diagnostic services was of course not refunded.Terrible company to deal with. Go elsewhere or just buy a new appliance...but not from Sears. Highly recommend Lowes instead.

Horrific service. Unprofessional technician. Had used Sears Home Services many times in the past (they usually farm the service out to A&E). Had to wait 1 week for an appointment (meanwhile, with broken washing machine full of water and could not drain) and was given the standard 4hr window (1-5pm). I was ok with this based on past experience with them. The tech called me at 4pm saying he was finishing up a job, and would arrive 5:00-5:30 (this was good) and that he would call me when he was 15min out. Around 6:00pm, called the tech to check on status, who proceeded to get all testy who told me in a very unprofessional way that he couldnt finish his job because he was talking to me. About 5min later, the tech took it upon himself to cancel/reschedule my appointment for 7 days later (after already waiting 7 days) and he texted me the the new appointment date. Un-Freakin-Believable. Cancelled and was lucky to find someone else who could provide the service in a more timely fashion. Had used Sears Home Services quite a bit over the years, but theyve clearly gone downhill. Recommend using a different service. Very disappointed.

All this after I paid for parts and labor over $400.00. I requested a refund and cancel parts order. Found part I needed online for $50.00 less. Part delivered in 2 days I installed it myself. Signed up for a preventative maintenance added to a visit for a warranty item. Waste of time and money. He did pull the Refrigerator out and looked at coils which I had cleaned. No looking at the inside, no checking the temperature, no checking the freon as I was told would happen. How is that preventative work? Had an issue with the drip pan filling up - he vacuumed out and checked the fan under there to make sure it was positioned correctly. The door didnt seal correctly and he showed me it was the top hinge, which is nice to know. We sprayed it with Wd40 and it works better. Would have thought he would give me a quote to fix it. Nope. Save your money. Guy was nice but really didnt do anything except what i pushed to get done.

I previously rated the the service of 10/3 as good but giving the ice maker time to operate I now find the service as unacceptable. I have another order in for repair to the same item. It makes ice but does not disburse the ice when activated. Apparently the connection is not aligned as the motor runs but no ice. It has to be hand removed to prevent freeze over (as in the past). Also the reorder for service is not in keeping with customer satisfaction as I have to wait another 2 weeks for the service. I have been without a functioning ice maker for over a month and this recall should have recd priority prompting an immediate follow up. Instead I was placed on a standard 2 week response. The first tech obviously was not familiar with the workings of this ice maker which has result in additional hardship in having to manually provide ice rather than have the convenience for which I paid and the following service agreement. I await with shaded conviction as to the upcoming service. Very unhappy, dissatisfied and loss of conviction.

Service has been horrible. We have had 5 or 6 visits since February. The last two we were told by the repair tech that our refrigerator was unrepairable. The first of those times replacement was denied and the techs were told to try two other parts. Another repair tech came back and told us it was not repairable and took the parts. This time we were told by the repair tech that a replacement would be authorized and to call the next day. Called the next day and were told that replacement was not authorized because the repairs had been made. Repair tech came back out and talked to the his office contact and we were assured that replacement would be authorized by management and to call again. That was Friday. We called on Monday and were told no replacement was authorized. We were told on Monday that we would be contacted by a representative within 24 hours. They missed that one - we havent heard from a sole. I called again a few hours ago and asked to have a supervisor call me. Nothing from that either. Our MPA states that a replacement will be given if unrepairable. We have not had a regular refrigerator for just over three weeks. Living out of a min fridge. We have not had one that works properly since February. I am exhausted. I just want A&E or Sears to man up and say they are not going to live up to their agreement.

They called him on Monday saying they cant do Tuesday morning but could come between 1-5pm which doesnt work because he works from 2:30p-11pm and there were no more morning appointments until NEXT Monday- A week away.Do not use this company. They have no respect for their client base. They made my son sit at home all day for nothing, then cancelled, then rescheduled then could not make that commitment either.I am the one that made the initial appointment because I felt going with Sears was a solid choice instead of an independent repairman. It took Sears Repair three weeks to come out and fix out dryer, and even then it was like pulling teeth with them. Worst customer service ever. First they scheduled an appointment, called the next day to say that they screwed up and rescheduled it for a week out. Made that appointment and had to order a part (which, theyre a repair shop why wouldnt they have parts readily available?). Scheduled another appointment a week and a half later to install said part. Called the day before that appointment and told us their tech was out on medical leave and rescheduled for another week out. Only after being on hold for an hour and speaking to a manager did they get a different tech to come out and fix our dryer. Not sure why that wasnt offered in the first place. I AM happy with the fix, but I will never buy another appliance from Sears again. This is NOT the first time this has happened to us too, the same scheduling and rescheduling happened the first time our dryer broke. I will also mention that our dryer has broken twice within a year and a weeks time and we bought it brand new. Thats fishy to me that theyre clearly selling lemons.

Sears plan to have a customer wait from 8 AM to 5 PM is ridiculous. With modern software, Sears should be able to predict when the tech will arrive within a much narrower window. A 4 hr window would be appropriate. The tech, who performed routine annual maintenance, on our front loading washer did not clean out the soap/bleach/fabric sofener compartment, left dirt on the floor in front of the machine and, most egregiously, left the door closed and latched when both the inner door and seal were wet. That is a sure prescription for the development of a moldy, smelly seal. I am scrupulous about drying these out after using the washer and before closing the door. Sears, you can do better.

I have a Kenmore Elite Top-Loader Washing Machine. The unit has been leaking water from the rear of the machine. So, I called SEARS to report the leak and the call center connected to my washer via the Kenmore Connect wireless troubleshooting technology. The representative ran a diagnostics check while I was on the phone and he reported to me that the diagnostics revealed an error code that could not be fixed over the phone. He scheduled an appointment for a repair technician to arrive at house. On the day of the appointment, a technician named Rene communicated early and let me know he would arrive within the next 20 minutes. He arrived promptly, setup quickly, and demonstrated his vast knowledge of the Kenmore Elite washing machine. Then, he asked me what issue I was having with the washer. However, after telling him that it was leaking and that the SEARS call center ran a diagnostics check, he began arguing with me. He said there was no leak! He also said the representative that I spoke to earlier on the phone did not know what he was talking about because its not possible to run a diagnostics check from the phone. Instead of arguing with him, I asked him to run the machine to recreate the leak. Instead of running a Normal cycle with clothes and detergent in the machine, which is the cycle that creates the leak, he insisted on running an Express cycle with no clothes or detergent in the machine. After a full cycle, there were no leaks. He used this 1 cycle as Proof there is no leak. He wrote up his report, and despite my repeated requests for him to further troubleshoot the issue, he proceeded to pack up his gear. I stated that he did not provide any customer service, much less customer satisfaction, and no corrective action was taken. I told him that my machine is going to leak again, to which he shrugged his shoulders and said, If you had a leak, it would have leaked while I watched it. I then started to run a Normal cycle with 4 items of clothing and 1/5th cup of detergent. He refused to stay and watch the Normal cycle and left my house without repairing anything. As soon as he drove away, the unit began leaking. I have called SEARS to request another technician come to my house to fix my washer. And I have requested a different technician than Rene. This type of service is not the kind of service I have received, and have become accustomed to, from SEARS in past years.UPDATE - 3/20/2017 - Sears sent out another technician. Her name was Lydia and she was awesome! She listened to my description of the problem, was patient, and ensured that she understood my concerns. Then, she thoroughly inspected the washer and did not leave until she was able to reproduce the same leak that I had reported with my washer. She ordered the right parts, installed them and I am a very pleased customer!!! 5 stars for Lydia!! I wish all techs were as good as she was! She was respectful, efficient, patient, and ultimately got my washer working without any leaks. She even called me later that day to check up on the washer and verify that it was still working correctly! Lydia is the epitome of customer service! Thank you, Lydia! And her under-study, John, was also great! He exhibited the same perfect demeanor and technical knowledge as Lydia. John and Lydia are simply the best!

This refrigerator repair took over 3 months to sort of complete!! The original complaint was: Freezer Compartment OK, Refrigerator Compartment not cooling. That took about 3 weeks to wait for an appointment and another couple of weeks for parts which didnt fix what was wrong AND left the freezer compartment inoperative. (One step forward and two steps back!) Then another several weeks for another appointment and duplicate repair parts were ordered plus more parts. After another couple of weeks, the technician arrived to install the new parts that were not needed. Fortunately, way back in the beginning, the Sears Phone Technician had determined that the refrigerator was still new enough that I could still buy a 1 year warranty for about $300. Im glad I bought the warranty because the total bill was now about $777 that, thank Goodness, was covered by the warranty. With a lot of observation and tinkering over those three months, the door to the main refrigerator was realigned to make the light come on when the door was opened and go off when the door was closed. Unfortunately, the limits of door adjustment were not quite sufficient to really fix the problem. Final result ... a small piece of cork (installed by ME) was glued to the door part that actuated the light and the refrigerator has been working reliably for a couple of weeks now. Bottom line? A poorly designed refrigerator was fixed by a 10 cent piece of cork (plus, of course, the cost of the $300 warranty, loss of use of the refrigerator for three months and a LOT of frustration). Now, to turn this into a lesson learned, I will be pleased to discuss the minute detail of this repair from start to finish with a member of Sears Appliance Repair upper management that has the interest and time and that could possibly preclude these kinds of problems. ...SM...

The repairman arrived approximately after 5pm, took temperature of the refrigerator which registered 37 degree F and took temperature of foods in the freezer which he didnt say what. I told him the ice cream (Friendly brand) was soft (I pinched the box to show him) but didnt take its temperature, instead he said the the Friendly ice cream has more cream than others and for me to try another brand. I told him I did but still soft. He reiterated that ice cream has more cream, hence soft. He pinched an organic popsicle tube, said it was hard. He stayed less than 5 minutes.

The service technician tried to scam me. He called and said he was 30 minutes out and then asked if he was fixing my oven. I said no, as I told the person when I scheduled it is the vent on my microwave. He said oh thats too bad because microwaves are actually a $250 diagnostic fee and not the $99 fee. This sounded odd to me but I asked him to still come as I needed it fixed. In the meantime I called Sears and they said definitely not, it is just $99. I had them on speaker phone when the technician got here and he was like oh, well ok, $99 is fine. Then he had the nerve to ask me for my credit card number. I wrote him a personal check and complained but I have no idea if they did anything. Never again!!!

The Tech. arrived on time after calling first. My wife showed him where the laundry room was located and he quickly found the problem. The belt was broken. Much to my surprise he had a new one in stock in his van. When he was complete, he announced the price --- I was floored ! Service call OK, Labor OK, but the charge for the belt was outrageous ! I knew it was a 99.9% likely hood that it was a problem with the belt and I am positive that I could have bought one for FAR LESS than we were charged !!!!.Not so certain Ill call Sears again.

Sears Home Services is horrible service, by that I mean no service. I was scheduled for 0800-1200 and never got a call. After I called at 1145, I was told the technician had about 5 other customers before me. When I tried to reschedule, the best they could do was 10 days later. Stay away, use a local, small company directly rather than go thru Sears.

Update: and the saga continues. We finally had a service tech come out, do a partial job, leave promising to come back and finish at 5 pm. Get a call at 6 pm that he isn’t returning and we would HAVE TO SCHEDULE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT! Our fifth appointment to fix our refrigerator. Five appointments. Five days where one of us has to miss work or leave early. What’s awesome is they give you a four hour window and IF they show up at all, they are typically late, and the job NEVER gets done. Then you’re left talking to someone from (lack of) customer services trying to clarify what the heck is going on...I am baffled. DON’T BUY AN APPLIANCE FROM SEARS. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON A WARRANTY. AND DON’T THINK IF YOU USE SEARS APPLIANCES SERVICES YOUR APPLIANCE WILL EVER BE SERVICED. Unbelievable.Do not waste your money on a sears appliance warranty!!! It’s unfortunate that you have to pick a star at all, because with the service that we have received from Sears, they don’t deserve a single star. We had a technician come out and diagnose the compressor of our fairly new refrigerator that had broken. The same exact technician came out with what was supposed to be the compressor, almost a month later, to diagnose the refrigerator again!! Again, weeks later When someone was supposed to finally come and replace the compressor, we received a phone call that because they couldn’t get there in the time window they had scheduled, that we would have to reschedule, another few weeks out!! There is evidently poor communication between customer service and their service technicians. They don’t have enough service technicians to do the job, So there are huge lapses in time between diagnosis and repair, and then if a miscommunication happens between customer service and technicians it yet again a huge lapse in time to repair. The Worst customer service we have ever experienced.

My 6 year old Whirlpool refrigerator failed to maintain cooling in the fresh food section. I called Sears under my extended warranty plan and was told this qualified as an emergency and they would get to me in 9 days!! I was told to use ice to maintain a safe temperature. Not good service response. The three stars are for the repairman who arrived on the day expected and fixed the problem. No Stars for the service management. You need to hire more repairmen.

While the technician appeared competent, the appt. was ultimately a disappointment. The heating element had failed in the dryer. The technician had no replacement heating element on his truck. Further, there was no heating element on any truck in Hampton Roads. The part had to be ordered and it would take 9 days. That is a unreasonably long time to wait for what I would consider a frequently needed part for a dryer. I dont think I would call on Sears again for this type of repair.
