Was excited to workout here bc it was conveniently located. Signed up and had to cancel within my first two days. I understand personal trainers job is to get new clients but I come to the gym to workout and not be harassed and interrupted when working out by personal trainers.Summary: Had to cancel my membership due to how pushy, rude and unprofessional the personal trainer Paul was interrupting our workouts and harassing us when all we are trying to do is workout. I hope Crunch finds a more suitable position for Paul where he is not allowed to harass clients while they are working out.
I love this gym!! It’s always clean. The hot yoga studio is the best. Another perk that I’ve enjoyed is the online classes that I can do at home or in the group fitness room anytime!
Absolutely awesome experience. Great state of the art equipment, clean facility, plenty room around floor and machines. Cool staff. Great classes and awesome Zumba instructors. Plenty parking.
DO NOT COME TO THIS GYM FOR THE SAUNA. Sauna works maybe 50% of the time for the last two years. They just can’t get it right. Upsetting as when I call before I come in, I have been told on more than a handful of occasions that it is working. There is always an excuse. They still to this day haven’t purchased a spring loaded door as it doesn’t shut properly nor does it even shut when someone exits letting out the hot air each and every single time. I have no other complaints, but this gym should not be your choice if you are wanting a sauna.
Refuse to give me a straight answer on cancellation, who knows how many more months Ill be charged. I went in August 18th and froze my membership. But apparently they put the freeze to go into effect September 1st. I still got charged for September. They say now that since it was within 90 days the freeze didnt work for that month. Went to cancel because all these problems today, and they said they cant remove the freeze and that it would be canceled after that. Now again I see the cancellation is going to effect on December 16th, more than two weeks after the freeze is up. I know that theres 30 days of notice for cancellation. Im already expecting to get charged one more month, but now I dont know if Im being charged for November which is allegedly frozen, and also January since 30 days after December 16th is in time to be charged for January. I just need some resolution to this, Employees will lie to your face!
Been going to this gym for about a year and a half now without issue. They do a decent job of keeping the place clean and the paper towels and hand sanitizer stocked. It’s a busy gym with prime time being 5:30-6:30pm. The equipment is well-maintained, though it seems if a machine goes down, it’s down for a few weeks.Edit: Updating my review to say that the gym is often too hot in the summer. The front where the treadmills and step machines are is usually fine, but it seems the A/C doesn’t reach the rest of the gym as well.
Just joined about a week ago. It can get quite busy at peak hours, so I prefer going an hour before they close. Supportive environment and nice staff💪
Hot yoga is always good here! All of the instructors are awesome! I like to go Sunday, Tuesday, and Friday. I would go more if I could but I drive from far away!
Head trainer Paul is extremely rude and aggressive. I was working out with a group of co workers and because it seemed like we were “coaching” each other, we were asked to leave and cancel our memberships. Not recommended at all
Paul is my trainer and when I say I have learned so much being with him every week I mean it. When they say NO PAIN no gain now I know what they mean. I work out with him for an hour once a week and I try to go as often as I can on my own. Its made such a difference in how I feel. I am 52 yo and when I say my hips were weak and now the gains! I am proud of my progress! Paul is kind and supportive and doesnt that me any different because i am a woman. I would love to have him as my trainer twice a week!
Dumbbells go up to 120lbs. They have 2 nice watermassage chairs. Plenty of weights and treadmills.
Hot yoga is so hot. 🥵
Friendly front desk staff greets you when entering, always addressing requests like television preferences. I always see staff cleaning the gym. There is usually enough equipment so that you dont have to wait, and guests are usually good about cleaning the equipment after usage. Crunch is set-up to meet all different types of workout requirements.
RUN from this money hungry gym!!!!!! I have been trying to cancel my account with crunch fitness for 4 MONTHS!! We were told the first time we wanted to cancel, that we could not because it was close to the billing date, but we could defer it for 3 months- we did that. I went into crunch on 2/1, Jesse the assistant manager told me that he would personally take care of my account and it would be canceled and I wouldn’t be billed anymore. I didn’t even believe him when he told me that and him and I went back and forth for a few minutes, and he said he would email me my cancellation form ( which I got emailed to me that day) and so I left. I was billed today!! I’m literally holding my copy of my “Membership Cancellation Form” in my hand, with a “0 balance due” and my signature and still being told they I am going to be billed!! How INSANE!!?? Im now on the phone with the GM, and he told me he is trying to help but before that, after all the info I gave him, told me that cooperate will not cancel my account! I have never experienced anything like this, truly it’s INSANE!
The astro turf smells funky. Other than that nice gym
I cancelled membership and they keep charging me for training. Trainer didnt show up 3 times still charged me, called and told to stop trainer said ok, has charged me 3 times since. Do not go there, my opinion liars and cheats! Also cancel my membership have asked 3 times now!!!!
Loud personal trainers, staff blasting strictly hip hop and rap music instead of catering to all members taste. Ive talked to the front desk several times with their attitude being annoyed...
Great atmosphere and Awesome trainers! I love the setup and openness of this gym.
Great gym. Staff very friendly.
I was a member here for 5 years. Gym became to packed so left and went to EOS ( LOVED IT). Recently EOB has become packed as well, I see alot of familiar faces, even old Crunch employees at EOS. With it becoming far to packed, I joined Crunch again. My first visit which i was super excited about, was absolutely horrible only for the fact that majority of us were sweating just standing, not even from working out. It became unbearable, nauseating. NOW i see why everyone is at EOS.I was told its because its hot out..They were not aware that I wasnt a NEW member, just a returning one. Never had it been this way in the past. I will give it one more try and if still unable to breath, I, along w the 2 others that joined with me, will cancel our 3 day old membership.
Great gym and staff but it seems like the men’s sauna hasn’t been cleaned in months. Smells so bad and there’s trash sitting underneath the heating unit surrounded by what seems to be dried up liquid. People don’t wear towels and sweat so much and just leave it in the floor like someone poured a bottle of water on the ground. It’s just starting to really stink.
Awesome fitness club. Very welcoming and friendly. Offers a wide range of workout and exercise classes from cycling to hot Yoga.
Cool gym. Ill be reinstating my membership soon.
Staff are very nice and most of them speak Spanish, the gym has a good atmosphere and everything is nice and clean. They have industrial grade antibacterial soap you can take with you to clean the machines. They also have a lot of machines and activities to do, overall really good gym experience
Despite an insanely rude staff the signs requiring masks are total lies, 80% of the super spreaders in this place dont wear masks. And many have zero regard for social distancing, even when breathing hard from exercise. Whats the point of regulations if theyre not enforced by staff? Stay way unless you want COVID. Crunch get it together!
I tend to go in the mornings now since it’s almost impossible to get a workout in during the evenings. Otherwise it’s a pretty good gym. $10 a month it’s not bad at all
Good I like it 💪🥰
Get a little crowded but ample equipment
Great gym. Has it all and classes are good too
The personal trainer program is probably the best thing that could have happened for me. I was skeptical to start coming here and spend the money on a gym and trainer. I have bad experiences with other gyms *planet*, but my friend reccomended so I decided to check it out. Immediately I noticed on their website they offer great deals almost every month to sign up for a 2 week trial period for like 5¢. I did it and loved it. They offer a first meeting with one of the trainers for $10 and you get an hour to see where you are in your fitness journey and where you want to be and how fast or slow you want to get there. They talk to you about nutrition, health, fitness plans, they give you a tour and they even explain to you how every machine works. They do a very basic fitness test to see exactly where to start and they give you a small plan to start with if you dont pay for a trainer. I decided that I cant go without a trainer bc i dont have the will to. I originally paid biweekly to see Macie biweekly and it started out ok. We started out by seeing what i could do and making sure i knew how to use each machine. We did this for about 4 weeks and I decided I dont like doing once every other week. We made the educated decision to upgrade me to twice a week to really see the results Im looking for. In just 6 short weeks of going to the gym 3-4 days a week and seeing Macie once every other week/once a week, I lost 8 pounds and shed all my water weight and bloat on top of it. The trainers are really nice people who keep you grounded and make sure to keep you on track while also being understanding that youre a person who makes mistakes and needs rest days. They make sure to push you to your limit without killing you. If I had gone to any other gym I probably wouldnt have stuck with it like I did.
Please look at the poor reviews before signing up with these THIEVES! The termination process is wicked! I was overcharged for 5 weeks after the termination 10 days window. I have spoke to Paul who is the manager there and he said i was never charged. This is getting out of line and ILLEGAL. I have a group together ready to take legal action!
Ive been a member for over a year now. The training coaches are the best. Well run facility. Clean.
Its always too crowded and a third of the time I cant finish workout due to lack of available equipment.
It’s February 2021 Wow! Let me start by saying you are not required to wear masks besides when you first come in the building. Id estimate that less than 1% wore masks. The people who work there did wear masks only under there nose! The locker room is dirty and was packed. Most people were not 6 ft apart yet still no mask, No one was enforcing this rule.
Only first visit, but seemed to have good equipment and staff.
I was 110 pounds of nothing. I went to Crunch fell in love with the place. The people are friendly, professional, the trainers look the part and know their stuff. The gym has such good vibes and quality equipment. I fell in love with Crunch. Came there regularly. Worked out lifting heavy weights. That increased my appetite. I ate more. Know I am around 175. I have gained alot of muscle and feel great. The staff is always willing to help. I love the encouragement I have gotten at this gym. Next to church, this is my favorite place to be. :D
So many great things to rave about!I recently started going to Crunch Carollwood when I moved to Florida. I partnered with Lindsay for my personal trainer. Lindsay is phenomenal, fantastic, and such a kind trainer! I always leave exhausted, yet refreshed. She really knows how to inspire, as well as, motivate you to reach your fitness goals. I have already lost weight and toned in the short amount of time I’ve been seeing her. I highly recommend asking for her directly, but from my interactions with other trainers, they all seem wonderful!Entire staff is extremely friendly from the trainers, the front desk, to the cleaning staff. The hours of operation are great, and they offer so many classes that are a blast! A few I’ve been to is yoga (they also now have hot yoga), HIIT, and Zumba. All fun experiences! It’s also relieving how clean Crunch is! They offer disinfectant spray bottles to carry around with you while you work out. This makes it easy to clean the equipment you use before and after each time. They have multiple paper towel stations so it’s easy access. There are so many machines and lots of equipment. You never have to wait long (or even at all sometimes) to use the equipment you need to complete your workout. They have a hydro massage machine, and tanning! All this for a really affordable price.
This crunch is amazing. People here are amazing and gym is clean. Lindsay, the personal trainer has been training me and she is amazing. She is getting me where I want to be and pushing me to my best! Thank you Lindsay! Your the bomb💣. Com
Worst Crunch location! I’ve been with crunch for a while and they claimed to be safe during Covid but they were just checking a box. I walked in and saw them send a few people out because they didn’t have masks but said hello to people that they knew and let them in without a mask and told them to just bring it in next time. I tried to cancel my membership due to hardship. Was lied to about not having to pay for an annual fee because a form was being submitted. I still paid annual fee and monthly service fee. I called back and was told it was all valid charges even though I wasn’t going to the gym. This is my second month after canceling my membership and they are still charging me. They keep telling me a form is being submitted. I plan on going back to a gym in a few months but not Crunch and definitely not Crunch on Dale Mabry!
LOVE Crunch...always a friendly staff and clean and working equipment...Great Place to Workout!!
Came here for one night. As a guest and i was impressed by how big this gym is. Well equiped and the staff is the best. I will visit this place again next time Im in town.
Sadly, I cannot recommend. they are an amazing value, up front w their pricing, billing and cancelation practices - but theyve made a corporate commitment to be open safely during the pandemic, including masking when you are not working out - then 2 staff wander around the entire time I am there un masked. one defiantly with her mask down under her chin. I sent pics to the club via Facebook, will be curious to see if anything has changed on next visit.I read other posts of folks w similar experiences and the act like they care and will correct it, but seems to be a chronic problem.I had planned on partnering for marketing a business, will now have to rethink that as well.Bummer, otherwise great place and seemingly decent business model.
My favorite place
Great place. Clean, large and the staff is very friendly and helpful.
LOVE what they have done with the gym lately! Coming back after some time off to see this new environment and most importantly one of the most helpful people Steven Rosario back in this location made my day! Keep up the progress crunch Carrollwood!
Crunch has stolen from me not ONCE, not TWICE, but THREE times!! They charged me twice in one day for a personal trainer I had and then blamed the bank (though I had visual proof of being charged two different times by two different people). THEN when I cancelled my membership (signed paperwork and all, they STILL charged me for two months afterwards. THEN when I called to get it fixed, they said yeah all the paperwork was done correctly so I dont know how this happened, then they never issued the refund they said they would. They smile in your face, but steal behind your back. I still havent received my refund and now have to go in again just to get the money that they shouldnt have taken in the first place.
Team members are friendly, and equipment is plentiful. Maybe too plentiful that it feels quite crowded. I usually go there around 7pm, and the place is fully utilized. For most of the membership, child care is provided. On weekdays, more than a dozen classes are offered. The classroom is often filled to capacity. They have a hit zone in a mezzanine, but the stairs case is right in the middle of the main floor. That can be a good tool for those of us who prefer exercising on real stairs, but it can be a hazard if you walk too close to it.
I love this place, everyone is gentle, you feel a good vibe when you walk in. And the training becomes pleasant. Thanks to all your employees for making us feel super nice in this place.
Great yoga class. Super instructor
One of the best gyms out there for the price
Great place to workout. Very clean and more than enough space for social distancing.
I’ve never had a bad experience here. The staff have always been super friendly and welcoming. I’ve never felt out of place or like I was being judged. I switched to coming here from LA fitness on Gunn and I don’t regret it one bit. This place has everything I need.
Love this gym. Good atmosphere, and great trainers that actually know how to train. I havent had a chance to try the classes yet but I love coming in to work out everyday
Staff was friendly and helpful, everything was well kept.
My son and I are having a blast at your place. Great job, team!
For a commercial gym, this is definitely one of my favorites. The competition for squat racks, cables, benches, and machines can get a little frustrating but that’s to be expected with commercial set up’s. My biggest, and only real complaints, are that there are some items I feel they should invest in.I would love to see actual deadlift bars, a GHD, and most importantly, a few SSBs (safety squat bars). I feel the latter should be present at all gyms and I’m a touch disappointed they don’t have any here. I could go to the Trinity location if I wanted to use an SSB bit that’s a bit of a drive. I truly hope to see a few SSBs pop up inside the Carrollwood location soon. For this reason I give it a 4/5, though it’s more like a 4.5 out of 5.
I have an issue with the personal training system and their lack of communication skills. Back in March when the gym shut down due to Corona virus, I was working with one of the trainers, Mahlique. When the gym opened back up, he notified me that he was moving and will no longer be my trainer and told me he cancelled my training contract and that I was good to go. Never did he notify my that I needed to physically go in and sign a cancelation form. I was then charged twice for sessions after that. I redeemed these sessions with another trainer and was told that without renewing a contract with Coco, my new trainer, my contract was cancelled and it was just a fluke. I was then charged twice more before finally speaking with Paul (the personal training manager) and ultimately suspending the contract. I was told I could extend the suspension at the end of the period (9/5) and was not told by him that I would be charged again when it was time to extend it. Now, another $350 ($540 when another charge is due to hit on the 5th) later I’m stuck with 12 more sessions and feel like I have been screwed by this gym and there’s nothing I can do about it. My initial trainer was incompetent regarding the gym policies, did not clarify these policies to me, and I was sucked back into it over and over again. Furthermore, when I called to verify that the paperwork was there for me to sign, one of the receptionists got nasty with me and told me she was a manager and refused to help me or give me her name. As much as I enjoyed having Coco as my new trainer and planned to go back to her at a later time, I can’t bring myself to go back to this location as I feel very taken advantage of.
Crunch is a scam that gives u false information just to sign you up, they charge you $36 yearly fee when u sign up plus your monthly fee They are a bunch of scammers and all they can say unfortunately they gave you the wrong information. Seriously crazy! Never ever in my life going back again
Super friendly staff. well maintained equipment.
Is a wonderful place for you
Half the time everythings unplugged anyways.
Friendly atmosphere. Great equipment
I do enjoy all the fitness classes at Crunch. The staff is very nice and the gym is fairly clean. However, I signed up a friend during a promotion. I was supposed to receive a $20 gift card for signing him up. I complained to the staff about it and was told I would receive it after that. I never did! I also mentioned it on a survey and Jeff Young reached out by email and asked to call me about this. I never received the call from Jeff Young nor did I receive the gift card! I feel this is false advertising! I will not sign up any more friends for this reason!
Staff are nice but they will make you wait at the front until they finish whatever they are doing/talking about. Clean except the girls bathroom always smell and the light for the stalls are broken. Great equipment and in working order.
This place is amazing best work out ever so much stuff to do.
Great gym. Although often busy, the hustle and bustle adds to the overall energy and vibe. The facility includes a sauna, countless machines, and friendly gym-goers. At a great price point, I wouldnt hesitate to recommend this gym to anybody whos looking for a casual place to exercise and be healthy.
I love this location! It has everything I need and more and the most down to earth staff. From the minute I visited I knew this was the gym I wanted to be apart of! If youre looking for a variety of targeted workout machines and free weight and racks this gym has a great selection. Plus, motivated club members and daily classes! 🙂!
I love this location! The staff are always very friendly and helpful if you have a question about how to use a machine. Everything is well kept and tidy, and they offer a great variety of machines. 10/10 recommend this location
It used to be great. Then they renovated and now its super claustrophobic. Even when its not crowded, it feels crowded. The people who work out there are often entitled and feel that its ok to put their hands on you to tell you to get off a machine they want to use. The staff that work there dont care.Their handling of the COVID-19 situation is really not surprising. While they do have more santizer stations set up and sanitizer to take with you as you work out, they dont enforce else that is meaningful. I never see anyone cleaning anything while Im there, which I used to frequently see prior to the pandemic. One of the communications received right before the gym reopened said there would be employees enforcing social distancing, but again there is no one to be found aside from the front desk. They say they require a towel but pick and choose who needs it. For example, I brought one each time, even though I dont see what difference a towel makes when Im sanitizing equipment before and after using it. Every time I go in, I see multiple people with no towel. Another thing is Hillsborough County has a mandatory mask order in place right now, but they are not enforcing it. Sams Club is enforcing masks and I come in far less contact with people there. Very few people are wearing masks at the gym and the only time I see any employees wearing masks is when trainers are training people. When it gets closed down due to employees testing positive, I wont be surprised.I loathe this gym and cant wait to cancel my membership. Im counting down the days
The termination process is a nightmare!!! I was overcharged for 5 weeks ($430 in total) after the termination 10 days window. I have been reaching out to them (paul who is the manager there, Isabella who is my personal trainer )for the past 6 months since I terminated my membership in July and provided my bank statements to prove how much they charged and when. At first, they admitted it’s their fault and they would refund me the money. Waited for 2 months, got $172 (out of $430) back to my bank account. Then they said they refunded all which they didn’t. Then they said i was never charged. This is getting ridiculous. I was planning to resume my training sessions after my pregnancy. Now i am not sure if i would ever join Crunch again.
I have been going to Crunch gym for many years, but my favorite classes are the boot camps with trainer Isabella (Bella) Sanchez. She is constantly coming up with different exercises, which not only motivates me, but it never gets boring. During Covid 19 and the gym being temporarily closed, Bella has continued to post classes for us through Zoom. She has gone above and beyond as a trainer during this time. Thank you Bella!!
I use the cardio equipment. Club is always clean. Can get crowded. Lots of high school kids because its across the street from Gaither. Group fitness classes are freestyle, not Les Mills, so I dont take them. Thats why I cant give them five stars.
By far the best gym I have been a member of so far! The staff is always very helpful whether I need new workout ideas or help with anything. Its very affordable and has something to offer for people of all levels of fitness. Also the yoga classes are great! And definitely some eye candy to keep you motivated! :)
Overall nice gym. Cancellation process is confusing but Frankie/Jorge at the front desk are amazing. Overall 5/5
I love coming to this location. I drive out of my way all because of the great staff. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome and part of a family.
You need to be more attentive to people trying to enter the gym, very slow to take temperature and scan folks in. It has been a lengthy wait at times.
Great Gym! Great Trainers! Great Classes! You wont be disappointed!
I would rate Carrollwood Crunch 5 stars because of the quality and variety of equipment, except that the music is generally too loud, therefore the rating is 3 stars. Most of the older members are annoyed by the loud music but don’t speak up. The situation became worse when the new sound system was installed. Most patrons don’t need loud music to exercise, the loudness seems to be for the staff not the members. The music is not loud at LA Fitness, YMCA or U-Fit but I prefer Carrollwood Crunch because the equipment is better and I have friends at the club. Some days I walk in and if the music is too loud, I leave immediately and go to one of the other clubs. Prior to Greg becoming manager of Carrollwood Crunch the music was very loud and there was an exodus of older members to other clubs. The music is not as loud now but it is becoming more intolerable.
I would not recommend this gym. I seen some others post some good review about this gym, some of them might be employees and some of them might be new members. But i will tell you the truth right here. It`s just beautifully wrapped boxes of bull s...Why? Because everything looks great until you cancel your membership.
Singed up for this gym in August. Lots of equipment and the staff seems very friendly. Its nice they have 6 power racks and turf. It gets pretty packed during peak hours and you have to get creative on how to finish your routine. However, the mornings are dead so it keeps me motivated to start the day a bit earlier. Great gym for the price.
I am very happy with Crunch. The staff is friendly and helpful. There is a variety of equipment to workout on so you can get your complete workout in one stop. The gym is always clean and organized. I worked with one of their personal trainers after having hip surgery last year. He helped me regain strength in my hip without injuring it. I would recommend Crunch to anyone needing a gym.
Crowded and mismanaged
Love it here!
Great and clean place to do you workouts and not get bothered! plenty of space, little amount of people, feel vary private.
My fiancé and i have been members for 3 months and since day one we have always gotten great service. It can get packed between 5-9 because the 9 to fivers are getting off. Christian, Steven and all the guys there make you feel comfortable and welcomed! 5 stars all day!
Clean facility and friendly staff!
Not bad
Clean and safe environment to work out, and the staff are professional, helpful, and attentive.
Due to local/state order masks are supposed to be worn by everyone at all times. I can count the number of people on one hand who actually were wearing masks (aside from employees) thanks to the employees for wearing masks and checking tenps
I have had the opportunity to try out several gyms, not just in the area, but across the country as well (as far as California), and I have to say that Crunch does more than just offer affordable memberships. They have a wide selection of equipment, as well as different designated areas geared towards different activities, such as powerlifting and a boxing room, appealing to every individual out there. Whether it is your first time setting foot on a gym, or youre a seasoned veteran, Crunch has something for everyone.
The gym is great until you try to cancel. My husband and I sent separate cancel letters with our key fobs back in January. The manager said they were never received and he told me he would have know if they came because he is there everyday. So on March 29th I personally walked two more cancel letters to the gym. To my surprise the manager was not there. I left them with the girl at the desk who assured me that she would make sure he got them. I have emailed him on two occasions following up and still no response. Considering LA Fitness has a class action suit against them for their cancellation policy, you would think this company would be a little more careful with their follow up.Has anyone else had a problem with cancelling?Sept 2, 2014 THANK YOU MARTY!!!Marty the new manager called my husband and has taken care of everything. After talking with Marty, my husband has decided to keep his membership. Great customer care goes a long way.
Oh my gosh how much I love this gym! The people the energy everything is great! I had to get the highest membership since THEY HAVE TANNING AND A MASSAGE BED! I love it and I love the guys at the front !!
Would totally love this gym with all its renovations and space except a significant part of the gym is upstairs with NO access. Hate to break it to yall but some of us cant do stairs! Way to fail at supporting ALL of your members.Edit: I did actually ask the front desk about access and they said the only options were the main stairs upfront and the stairs in the back saying there was no elevator at this location but that Hillsborough did.
The only reason I’m giving this location one star is because of two particular staff members. I went as a guest for a week with my friend to see if I finally decided to join this gym or LA FITNESS which is my current gym. and I was witness of how they Mistreat people that clearly have no interest in something else but working out. to me this treatment do not meet the basic customer service they have to provide this behavior is similar to kids in high school, not professional at all. its clear the management needs some arrangements on hiring procedures, Unfortunely I don’t have the name of these two workers but I only know how they look so you are cautious and aware ; its a short black guy and a tall skinny guy.
Hot Yoga, Fridays 7pm
Rude GM and his staff is equally as rude. Switching g to EOS.
Its a fabulous gym! the staff is all so welcoming and informative about the different equipment. They set me up with a great workout plan and Im so excited to continue my path to get healthy here. Dont know what I would have done without Crunch. Great atmosphere with no judgments. Makes it much more comfortable and it makes me excited to go to the gym every day!
