Scam billing policies and online access doesn’t work. My 2 gym membership cancellation requests still have not been honored and I’m still being billed after my credit card expired!Update Sept 21st 2021, they have ignored my 4 membership cancellation requests. I even went to the gym and paid my past due balance (that they shouldn’t have been charging me anymore) IN FULL, filled out the forms to cancel my membership and they didn’t cancel it and are STILL CHARGING ME for membership. Impossible to cancel.

The trainers and facility are nice, however, it has been overshadowed by a billing issue. As part of my sign up, I was told that I would get my first month free. I was charged. They said they would credit me but that hasnt happened yet. This happened in May but now it is August. I was told I was probably lied to to get signed up that day and that Corporate denied it. All I want is an explanation from Kevin, the manager, as to what is going on and an apology for having it drag on this long and for the poor communication surrounding the issue.

My account was double charged (manually from the front desk), and when I called to get the second one reversed, they told me that they would give me a credit to my account instead. I explained that I had already mailed a certified letter canceling my account and wanted the money back, and Eric told me he couldnt help. I asked for his manager, and he said he would let his boss Kevin N. know. Two days later, still not an update. When I called back, I was told that nothing could be done for me and they werent giving my money back. Reporting this theft to the Better Business Bureau.

Be carful when starting a membership here. They will give you hell about wanting to cancel. I have sent emails and calls several times for months just trying to cancel any connection with crunch. Every time I called with my account issue they would tell me they would call back and never did. I would send emails they would. Never respond. There are hidden fees for everything and some reason the manager can never come to the phone. I spoke to Emily and she was sweet but the polices and communication is not good. If you are taking someone’s money ever month you should do your part in assisting them. They never have a solution to my problem just another Fee. Staff is cool but I honestly regret the day I signed up because it has been such a inconvenience with just trying to communicate with them.

Great facility, not covid safe at all. I know their policy is mask on if distancing is not possible, and at all times for employees, but guests simply do not follow this rule and a team member pulled down their mask to talk to myself and my partner when they were standing right next to us. I emailed the manager a week ago to give my feedback and have received no response.I’m terms of a gym in regular times, they’ve got great equipment, dynamic workout setups, and plenty of squat racks. You can’t beat the price, and the three day trial would be a great way to test out a gym. Just be sure not to let staff sign you up immediately, you’re allowed to give it a try first.

They only care about money and will anything they can to not give you a refund. I tried getting a refund from sessions I WAS NOT attending and they basically told me it won’t happen. I do like working out at this gym but my experience with personal training was awful. I hope to get a refund and move on from this awful experience.

Said a manager will call me right back.3 days later- I call again. Said manager will call me right back again but it could take 2-3 weeks to cancel. Crickets.I text someone i know who works there- crickets.Call 3rd time- asking for someone I know. She cancels it.But/ “manager” gets on phone saying i was just charged 2 days ago for my monthly dues.I expressed I had been trying to cancel for the last 2 weeks. The $ is not the point but rather the horrible customer service once they get your contract. Other than it being close and convenient to my house Ive been very disappointed at this gym. I used to go to LA fitness and I guess I was spoiled by having all the equipment work properly and here it seems like they dont care. Ive asked for over two and a half months now for some machines to be fixed as they stick and it seems like the bearings need to be replaced. Were talking at least five piece of equipment yet they refuse to maintain them so they could function properly. Ive passed over the last two and a half months repeatedly yet they say they looked at them and they work perfectly, which they dont. Ive had other members complain to me as well as we all wait for the machines that actually do work properly which are few. Its also very busy here most of the time of the day which makes things even harder to get a proper workout around here. Ive even contacted the head office and they never bothered calling me back but just referred it to the same manager that tells me theyre working great. Very frustrated...

You’ll find everything you need here. They recently just rearranged half the gym and knocked down walls to create more space for cardio classes and additional Olympic platforms. Great move! Lot more room to move around and less waiting for a platform to open up. Machines and equipment are always in working order - NEVER broken. Cleaning bottles all over to wipe down equipment. This is a great gym and I enjoy coming here daily. Well worth the price.

I went to this Crunches for my sons benefit because he had just turned 15 and needed the help, my membership was under the silver sneakers program. I disgust all the possibilities for a boy and I was shown one of their three programs that only cost $10. Dalton Swires, the Manager, showed me all benefits of the two other programs that they had. I read them over and I realize that the only thing on them was the one part that says he could come with a friend. There was nothing else that would help me and possibly getting one of his friends or sisters or mother to bring him, but I told him that if I couldnt get nobody to help him that I just wanted the $10 program. Dalton tell me that if I singed up for the other program, with the guest, and it never worked out, that he would change it at the end of the month, perfect. I called to talk to him, starting the following day and every day after that, but he was always busy and they would have him call me back. But he never did. I went into Crunches after call again, but that he was busy. When I got there I ask for him and they got him for me. I sit down at a private table with him and explained that my sons has no one to bring him but me, that I wanted to change it as agreed on just a few day earlier, back to the $10 acc. Dalton tell me that I had to wait two more months to change it that he had not said that. We had a 15 minute conversation disgusting the three agreements and he was clear about the one month, or I would have never signed anything, not that I ever did sign anything. We are talking about $30.00. for 2 months, thats it. If he had just done what he agreed, I wouldnt be doing this. Reading most of the other reviews, I see Im not the first. I cannot stand being lied to and I told him in front of everyone to take me out of their system, that my son wouldnt be coming back. And gave both cards back and left. Its probably him reading this.we were there only two days. Everyone there remembers. I took my son there to help him, not to be lied to. Afterwards, I read the complete contract and sure enough, two more months was there. If he had told me in the beginning, I wouldnt have watched him slide page by page drawing a line where Im supposed to sign. I never actually read it until after this incident. Now I get an invoice from a debt collector saying I owe $346.91. which will never happen. We went there when Covid was extreme and I actually went their with alot of concerns anyway. But I was told that I never had to wear it after passing the entrance desk. Which was just wrong. Now I get to send an even more detailed form. My Lawyer told me this was common in the Fitness industry. He told me all the people I needed to complain to, Better Business, etc. I saved all Crunched Text just because I knew this was comming. All this because of a $30.00 lie. He should let people sign the pad themselves. He sure enough dont read them to you. But he will lie to you just to make a sell. $30.00 and now $346,91. Is this the person you call manager. Ill post this one and everyones around the world. Ask him why he never took me off after 2 months? What more can you do then tell him and everyone that you wasnt coming back and give both access passes at the same time. Dont you have videos especially at the entrance? I know its there.

I tried to go in, hoping that they had updated their mask policy, but clearly they haven’t. Almost no one in this place was wearing a mask. In a post below the owner tried to defend it by saying that they require people to wear a mask if not socially distanced by more than 6 feet, but that is garbage. I never saw anyone pull up a mask when they got closer, and certainly did not see anyone from the staff attempting to enforce such a rule. Furthermore they might clean they machines more than normal, but they certainly don’t clean them between individual usage. This place is perfectly set up to be a super-spreader nightmare. It makes me lose faith in people to see so many being so self-centered and not even trying to keep themselves and others around them safe.

Both the Channelside and TP locations are fine facilities, but are quite busy during peak times. My review of the facility would be 3.5 were it not for my experience today. My wife and I stopped going in March due the pandemic. We kept paying for 5 1/2 months after we last went solely to support the business. When I finally called to cancel today, I was instructed that the only way to cancel was to come in or send a letter. When I remarked that they dont make it easy, I was cheerfully questioned and told that I was not going to be charged a cancelation fee. This is poor customer service and clearly designed to dissuade cancelations. I wonder what would have happened if told them I wanted to upgrade my service. The worst part was that the employee acted as if it was not an inconvenience to me and that she believed the policy wasnt stacked against the customer. Lame.

This Gym cares about Money rather than Customer Health and Convenience. I have been a Crunch Channelside Member for the past 1.5 years. During this time, I have referred several of my co-workers and friends to the gym and always had positive feedback regarding the Channelside location.Due to COVID-19 Pandemic, I stopped coming to the gym in early March and havent been to the location ever since. Recently, I was planning to go to the gym again. During my call with a Crunch Associate, I was notified that my past monthly fees of $200 has been due and my membership has been revoked. I was also disappointed to hear that my information has been passed to a Debt Collecting agency. In the month of May 2020, when the Gym opened, I received several promotional text messages and emails. However, out of the 7 Promotional Text Messages and Several Emails, Not once, I received any information regarding my monthly fees. There were zero attempts to speak to me directly about my membership fees. It turned out that Crunch was trying to bill my account, but the card was declined. I was not told anywhere, even if I didnt go to the Gym, I will be required to pay the membership fees. They mentioned the its in their contract, but clearly its hidden somewhere and is a type of predatory practice. Canceling membership is so painful here. I am extremely disappointed by these actions from the Management. The managements focus has been on making money instead of Member Health and Concerns.PRIORITIZE CUSTOMER NEEDS AND VALUE TRUST- the Money will come as a result of that, and not through predatory and fraudulent business practices.

Once the pandemic started, I stopped going to this gym, froze my account for 3 months, and recently tried to cancel my account. The assistant manager was very rude/unprofessional over the phone and repeatedly tried to convince me not to cancel. Her and Crunch make the process very difficult and told me I need to give a 30-day notice before my billing cycle or I will be charged for the rest of the current billing cycle and the next one. So Im paying for the rest of October (I canceled 10/13) and November when I wont be going to the gym at all! I should only be charged the rest of October if anything. Also, when I visited this gym to cancel my membership, I saw NO ONE wearing masks and no one was cleaning the machines. Even one of the managers was sitting at the front table talking with a new gym member with NO mask on! I visited Crunch Fitness at/around December 27th and brought a guest like Ive always done without any issue. This time the assistant manager Mo told me that my membership tier doesnt include guests. I understand the different tiers now, but telling a member you can see is driving from St Pete / Pinellas County + has a guest we cant work out due to an oversight by multiple employees who made my guests enter their information into the system and never once mentioned this is Ludacris. The entire time Im talking to Mo, another employee is coaching him on what to say as Im standing right there hearing both of them. Mo even had the nerve to tell my guest they could sign up or I could pay $15 more per month.. who would want to sign up at this location after this experience? When asked why I would pay $15 more when Im in the mid-tier and the highest tier that includes guests is only $5 more, he said I dont pay crunch directly, so thats the amount Id have to pay. Idk, if hes new, but this was a negative client experience. The proper way to handle this would be to allow us to workout since weve both been there together before, notate my account that you told me since its NEVER been an issue before, and leave it there. Do better as youre not the only gym, and I definitely wont be revisiting this location. Only giving 2 starts because one bad apple doesnt erase the unproblematic experiences Ive had for years here.

Would like to give 1 star to be vindictive, but it is honestly a pretty good facility. Good variety of equipment, in good order, only thing thats really below-par is the punching bags. Every Crunch Fitness seems to have the lowest quality punching bags.Main issue is being charged after I canceled. Facility was shut down for COVID, so I couldnt reach them through phone or walk in in person. Couldnt reach general customer service through phone. Couldnt get a reply back in email. Finally got a reply back verifying that they saw my cancellation email through one of the outlets I tried to contact. They asked what facility I belonged to. Apparently, they never cancelled.Walked in to the gym and they were able to cancel it, but not refund for the months of extra charges, despite being shown the email that confirmed recognition of my cancellation. Asked if instead of cash back, we could credit a friend of mine who goes to Crunch, they said no. Kind of annoying, would have liked to come back to this gym at some point. But you know if a gym is sketchy about their cancellations in one instance, theyll be sketchy in others.EDIT: After the reply from the owner, have to lower rating by one star. We have an in-person cancellation policy shouldnt apply when your physical location is closed. Shouldnt really apply during a pandemic at all. Why didnt the email I got back say that they cant accept my cancellation? Absolutely no sense of self-reflection on the part of these people. If they did they wouldnt be replying to bad reviews with Sucks to suck, buddy, read the contract. theyd realize its better to keep that mentality to yourself.

EDIT: Walking by the gym at 5pm a few days ago, the gym was packed with people standing within 2 feet of each other without masks. Big red flag. Please do better for at least a few months. Its not that hard your members deserve better. The gym has great equipment and it very convenient for those living in the Channelside area. For the price, the gym should be a 5-star rating.2-starts were deducted for safety concerns. Masks are required at entry and a temperature check is present but following entry, masks are permitted to be removed. The lack of masks throughout the facility is extremely concerning. While spray bottles and sanitizer are present, it needs to be a global policy for Crunch that masks are mandated. As someone currently involved in the medical field and well-educated on Covid19 PPE and risk factors, I cannot understand the fact that masks are not required while lifting in an enclosed space. While Tampa as a whole is great on mask wearing, the fact that gyms do not mandate mask usage makes the usage of gyms a super-spreader event. To the management at Crunch, please re-evaluate your policy on masks and exceed the minimum requirements set forth by Tampa and FL. No amount of regular sanitation of machines can safely protect your clients. We all want this pandemic to be over and for things to return to normal, and we can do it with your help!

I explained my situation, that I attempted to cancel and that I didn’t think it was fair to be charged after I tried to cancel back in March. If your physical location was closed during the period of time in which I attempted to cancel, your “in person cancellation policy” should be void. Given the current situation, there should be exceptions to this “policy.” I think you are taking advantage of difficult situations for your members. I would have rejoined when things got better but now I would rather spend more money at a less shady gym than return to Crunch.

Love love love it here. It’s super clean and the staff is friendly. Feels like family every time I go into the club. Tons of cleaning spray bottles and staff stays on top of it as well. Can’t wait for my next lift!

Horrible company, unprofessional, worst customer service Ive ever experienced. Take a close look and notice their staff and trainers are the ones posting the positive reviews. They wont last long. Go to another gym!!! Its like the Hotel California- You can go, but you can never leave. Their website stated clear instructions to email them to cancel during covid- see the attached screenshot of their website. I recommend they read their own policies and procedures. Now they are stating you had to come in to cancel, however they were closed and werent answering the phone, so how exactly could anyone go in person to cancel? They continued charging me for membership during covid, so they are lying that they didnt charge members during that time. See screenshot of the monthly charge from my bank for membership March 24-April 24. I emailed them three times and received no response. I called them to confirm cancellation, they dont have a voicemail and no one was answering the phones.I called the location once they reopened, they blamed it on corporate and said they have no way of refunding money. I tried to call corporate, there is not a working number. I tried emailing corporate and no response. Their response below is bogus. This is fraud.

SCAMMERS. It is tough to cancel membership. This gym charged unapproved monthly fees without my consent. Wont ever recommend it to anyone.

Great gym with very attractive monthly fee. I recently switched to Crunch Fitness because they only charge $9.95 per month for a single club access.

Gym is nice but there were no masks in sight and social distancing was not being enforced. Employees behind the desk took off mask to talk members, which seems counter productive.

I’ve been a member at Crunch for over a year now and have been extremely happy with my experience so far. The gym is kept clean and fairly organized (gets pretty hectic around peak hours but that’s unavoidable). The staff is very personable and always greet the guests with a smile and positive attitude. There is new/updated equipment and the whole joint went through a renovation a few months ago. The more I think about it, the more I realize that I actually can’t even come up with a negative thing to say about this gym. I guess sometimes the parking garage fills up and it’s tricky to find a spot, but that’s rarely an issue and if you don’t drive to the gym then you don’t even have to worry about that. Crunch Channelside is great, would recommend.

I have been a member of Crunch fitness for months now. I moved down from New York and i immediately found a place to workout that felt like home. The facility is pristine, the equipment is fantastic and the staff is top rank. In particular one of their managers Kim Curley took me on a tour and explained all the benefits of being a member and I walked out with a member tag. I have been so pleased with Crunch I shared my experience with several of my friends. To be exact, 5 of my friends have spoken to Kim and have become members. She has given them the same service and value that i received when i first moved here. I would strongly recommend that anyone looking for a great fitness center should stop in and see what im talking about.

The energy was upbeat, positive, and the workout areas didnt smell musty like several other gyms Ive been to. In addition, members seemed to be about their business, goal-oriented and in the zone. Definitely my kinda gym.

Clean, staff is friendly, and usually not too long of a wait (if any) for equipment. The later in the day you go the busier it is but it’s perfect for me right after work. The petiole who go generally all wipe the machines clean after use which I know doesn’t happen at other gyms I’ve gone to before.I’d recommend this gym as an affordable and convenient place for anyone working downtown or the area around it.Also, parking is available for free in a covered garage - which is nice for when it rains!

Place is clean and well maintained.Had to modify my review of this crunch. I have now had a few instances where the personal trainers prove to be rude towards other customers when they are with a customer. I know your an employee with a specific customer but that does not mean you need to move peoples personal property (water bottle) while I am working out and do it with an attitude because I am working out next to where you decided to move to next.

Generally fine, but probably ten times now nobody has showed up to open. This morning it was a half hour wait and several of us made calls before a trainer who lived nearby showed up. If youre an early morning person, expect to wait. If Im getting up at 530 on a Sunday, then Id like them to open at 700 as advertised.

Ive been to many Crunch clubs in Tampa and this is by far my favorite location. The staff and trainers are so friendly and always have a smile on their faces, the facility is kept clean, and it has plenty of amenities. It does get quite crowded during weekdays between 5-8pm which is common with most gyms, so be prepared to wait on machines/equipment during that time.

I join all other reviewers calling out the lack of customer care and professionalism. I requested in writing that my membership be cancelled, yet I keep being billed. Management alleges that cancellation must be in person during a pandemic, thus showing complete disregard for safety. Disgusting attempt to leverage and profit on global health crisis.

I love this gym. The place is huge with lots of equipment and free weights. The staff is not the typical gym staff with a massive ego. The staff are just normal people that provide really good friendly service. I recommend getting the higher level of membership so you can use the massage chairs. It is crowded at 5:30 but so is every other gym. All around really good experiences with this gym.

My daily gym, its always clean, the staff are very friendly and the equipment is taken care of. I see many people taking classes, doing HIIT and trainer led exercise and more. I go for the free weights and cardio equipment. Its a great place, and cant beat the inexpensive membership fee!

If you are considering using Personal Trainers at ANY crunch gym read this. These people are frauds. I signed up for a 1 Time personal training package for something like 20 sessions last fall with a Trainer named Alex. Despite the fact that Alex was more interested in swiping right on his dating apps than working with me through workouts, I was seeing results so I told Alex to renew me for the SAME 1 time package. Right after I renewed, Alex moved to a different Crunch gym and they got me set up with a new Trainer named Ronnie. Ronnie let it slip that they moved Alex because he was intentionally marking people down for sessions that they never scheduled so that they would run out faster and make his sales look better. WOW, they didnt fire him, just moved him to a new store.Long story short, I started noticing recurring charges on my checking account for $600 around January and started calling every week to get it stopped. The first couple calls the front desk staff told me they arent on the same system as the PT staff but would leave a message to cancel for me. When I was in the gym the PT Manager would dodge me and pretend to be on calls so he didnt have to talk to me, and would never return my calls. Another 2 months go by and I cant get anyone to help me cancel, much less refund me. They bring on a new PT Manager who tells me to in April that I need to sign a Cancellation Document and he would get everything approved. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME ANYONE MENTIONED A CANCELLATION DOC. I have now paid $3600 in PT sessions I havent used. Now they are saying that their employees never documented any of the times I called asking to cancel my membership, making my cancellation document the only documentation they have on file. It was filled out in April since that was the first time anyone mentioned it., so all the earlier charges cant be refunded. In other words they used the cancellation document that I HAD to fill to stop charges, as documentation to justify not refunding for the charges I NEVER asked for. Dont Use These scum bags.Chris Nelson is their current PTM and he will lie to your face about virtually anything, Our management strives not to be that gym that charges people without their permission, and makes it impossible to cancel - Chris Nelson before, during, after they charged me for without permission I will always be a straight shooter with you and I would rather answer calls and texts and give you bad news than leave you in the dark - Chris Nelson before he ignored every call and text for two months.Credit where it is due. The non personal training staff is nice/professional and the gym is clean.
