The apartments are very well insulated so there isn’t a lot of noise that comes through. They are a nice size with a lot of closet space. The maintenance people work fast and all of the staff is really nice. I like that I don’t have to go through a front desk area or anything to get to my apartment. The apartments are a bit expensive but most of them are close to the school.
I have been here for about two years and it’s very nice! The pool is a plus and Fey, Daulton, and Mr.D are so nice! The distance to FSU is really short so it is really convenient!
I lived here for a year and loved it! It was the perfect location for school and was great for getting my peace and quiet that I needed. What drew me to the property was the way it looks on the outside, but the inside is massive! I never had any major issues, but when I had small issues maintenance was quick to get them fixed for me. Management was great and always responded quickly. I would definitely recommend living here!
Maintenance (and the staff) is very good at responding to maintenance requests. The staff is friendly- especially the manager Ashton (shes amazing!). Jakes Place has been very diligent at resolving any issues I have run into and I have resigned for next year. It is very convenient being so close to campus, so it makes it easier for someone like me to manage school and working almost full time. The one-one is quite spacious- I still have plenty of room in the bedroom with a king size bed in there. Highly recommend!
Do not live here. I put in a maintenance request concerning mold growing in my shower and water damage in the ceiling 2 and a half weeks ago. Nothing has been done!!!Even if I were to disregard this the place is still a dump on the inside, old appliances, a tiny dryer that barely works, a dishwasher that leaks (also hasnt been fixed in 2 weeks), and humidity problems that they dont resolve. Please dont live here, it is overpriced and disgusting on the inside
All I can say is, pictures can be deceiving of what you are getting. I signed late and was stuck living here for about a year. Maintenance is great, and Ill even say the office staff is attentive, and by no means do I give the rating based on them. But the building itself is disgusting. They give a dehumidifier to deal with mold and condensation. The people that live there do not clean up after their dogs. Give a quick walk by the front gate, or better yet, on a rainy day when it pools in front. There is a smell to the building that seeps into all of your clothing and belongings.Your dollar can be put to better places.
I have absolutely LOVED living at Jakes Place! They are the perfect, affordable one bedroom apartments for any college student. The location is perfect and it takes me no time to get to class, the student union, or football games in the fall! The manager, Ashley, is very efficient, friendly, and was very helpful answering any questions I had when I was signing my lease.
Ive lived here since august and my dog and I both love it here. The pool is right in the middle of the place which is cool. Maintenance has been helpful the couple times I needed them. I would recommend living here for sure.
The maintenance team here is wonderful, very quick to respond and get things taken care of. Whole staff is friendly and good from maintenance to the manager. Best 1BR room apartments within walking distance of campus.
Overall, this place is fine if you’re coming from on- campus housing, but if you’ve had experience living in other apartment complexes, this might be a little disappointing. I will say, I think I got a bad unit in the scheme of things, but at move in my apartment smelled like cigarette smoke, my dishwasher, garbage disposal, and washing machine were all broken, the remote from my TV was missing, and my bed frame and mattress had a whole in the middle.I’ve had other issues come up as I’ve lived here as well, with the appliances continually needing attention. My oven hasn’t worked in a couple of months, so I bought a toaster oven that has sufficed to replace it. I’ve also had to invest a lot of money in air purifiers and dehumidifiers to deal with the smoke smell and mildew that has grown on my walls.Maintenance and management are very nice and try their best to address these issues, but the company overall just doesn’t give them the money to invest in actually repairing these units to working order. The maintenance guys are great, but spread over two other properties, so getting things fixed can take a long time.I’d say this is a good step up from undergrad housing, but definitely doesn’t live up to the “luxury” advertising.
After several disappointing experiences with other apartment options, I was fortunate enough to contact Jakes Place and meet Brittany. She immediately impressed me with her positive and can-do attitude. The process under her guise was smooth and stress-free even remotely from CT. I cant thank her enough for professionalism and guidance!
Jakes place is a lovely apartment complex! It is so convenient to FSU! The staff is always lovely and they get work orders done as needed. Ashley the property manager is so nice and really listens to your concerns and makes sure things will get done. The apartment itself is so great for the price and location. And TWO walk in closets. Best decision I made was to live there
I have had so many problems with mold and air conditioning. Anyone you talk to in the complex has had mold issues. It doesnt matter how nice staff is. The apartments are falling apart. It is not worth the money.
The staff is kind and they try to be helpful, but I have had several reoccurring issues with mold. Maintenance covers up issues but never fixes them. Wouldnt recommend to anyone.
Terrible. Over the past two years we have had to deal with 4 major water leaks from the ceiling along with countless minor ones. We are waging a constant war against mold. The walls have to be wiped down weekly especially, in the winter, and managements solution was to give us a dehumidifier that costs us $80 a month in electricity to run and makes little difference, the humidity still remains high. Speaking of electricity, the utility bill is inexplicably expensive. Taking the dehumidifier into account, the bill is significantly higher than my old place, which was larger, a 2/2, and less than a block down the street. On top of all this, management has always been slow to respond to our complaints, it took us months to get a broken washer and dryer replaced.
Many know that finding a decent place in Tallahassee can be a daunting task to say the least...but that wasnt so with Jakes place. Granted, I have a set move in date in a week, but this review is more about the staff! (Ill be sure to post another review later on when I actually move in and have been settled for a bit!) I personally was shown Jakes Place by Brittany (shes the manager for University Lofts and Jakes Place.) and within minutes I knew that I wanted to live here! It helped that they had one newly renovated unit as well. Being a first time renter and married, I was worried that trying to find a place in tally would require not only everything I had, but presumably my first born child as well...lol?...anywho, the great thing about Jakes Place and U-Lofts is that if you have a certain credit score, the deposits are solely the application fee. This was big to me and my husband as it meant that we would have more money to furnish! Within hours of finishing the application and lease, Brittany informed me that we were approved and that as soon as we paid the initial rent and fees, the unit would be locked in as ours. Throughout the entire experience, Brittany went way above and beyond the call of duty to help us when we needed it most. She would even respond through fb message after hours if we had any questions! To me, her dedication to her company is amazing and because of that, it made it that much easier to choose to rent through SHS. All in all, I would definitely recommend this company and these apartments for any and all looking for a nice place to live!UPDATE 7/2018So I lived at Jakes place for the last year before relovating to Tampa. Brittany and the rest of the staff both agents and maintenance work wonders to satisfy everyone they meet. Anytime I had an issue, they were responsive and quick to fix whatever needed it. Contrary to many posts on here, I never experienced an issue with mold. I did have a leak under my kitchen sink but maintenance came out fixed it and even replaced whatever had damage. With all apartments you must take the buildings age into factor. This building is an older one but by no means did I have any unusual smells or such in my apartment. Most of those complaining had issues with privilege. On multiple occasions, there were some people who had a tendency to blow up at the staff over trivial matters outside of the staffs responsibilities. For example a guy blowing up that the internet was down before finals as if he wasnt across the street from FSU. Overall, the experience is pretty great for the price and locations. Also there are measures in place to prevent stuff like the dog poop in the front. Its simple as notifying the agents of who is not cleaning up and they get fined. As I said, jakes place was great and I had an amazing experience there. It is what you make of it as with anything in life, and overall my experience was amazing# Do yourself a favor and do a tour...you wont regret it!
Mold seriously in winter. But staffs are really nice.
