I got a quote on the phone about labor cost if I bring my own part. Once the job is done they charge me extra $40 because I bring my own part!!!. Be aware of the price. But they did a great job.

Ive been going to them for 4 years and they have been great. They are not the cheapest in town but they get what needs to be done. They dont try to sell you on other things or over charge you like at other places.

Midas is our go-to place for oil change and inspection. They always did a thorough inspection, and communicated well on the necessary repairs and available options. They usually got all the repairs done within a day or two. The service reports were always detailed and clear. The charge was reasonable and sometimes lower than our expectations. We highly recommend Midas!

Brought in my car for an inspection and oil change and they provided great service. Im new to the PA area so wasnt sure how inspection/registration worked, but they were good to explain it to me.

These guys were great. I brought my mustang in the day before my wedding with a brake caliper that fell right off the wheel and said I needed the car fixed before the wedding and they not only got it done but worked to finish it early so I didnt have to worry about it on my wedding day. Definitely would bring my car back in there for future work.

This particular Midas location has always been wonderful for me. They are friendly, have a nice waiting area with a TV. They are reasonably priced for the services they provide. I trust them. In particular I like a mechanic named Luke. I always ask for him to work on my car. I value his opinion. If something needs to be repaired I am always provided an estimate first.

This place is awesome! Had an issue with my car and the warranty to get it fixed belongs in a place 2.5 hours away from state college. I wanted to figure out what that issue was and walked into Midas without an appointment and explained my situation. Without hesitation, they drove the car, lifted it, and even took apart the wheel of the car to figure it out. And it was all free of charge!!! These guys are very hospitable and I will certainly go to them in the future.

This is the best shop in State College for minor repairs. They seem to be honest and do only the needed work and will recommend other things if questionable but leave choice to customer. They will show you any worn parts so you can see for yourself. Labor is reasonable, but parts mark up seems fairly high. I use them for mounting new tires when I buy them on line, and have had minor brake and strut work done here.

Fair and friendly. Third place I have tried in town and definitely my first choice since I found them. They can get busy so plan ahead to make an appointment; a good sign for a mechanic!Theyve done inspections for me with no problems.Ive had them install tires bought on TireRack. Had no slow-leaks for the entire life of the tires! I have never had that happen... even when going to tire shops with these same rims. Really pleased with these guys.

Great experience with Midas! They were polite and clear about everything, and told me my options for getting my brakes fixed and an accurate quote for what it would cost. I decided to have them put new brakes on, and Cody told me it would take about one hour. It was finished in one hour on the dot. Best no nonsense experience Ive had getting my car repaired in a long time. Highly recommend these guys, and it is easy to sit and get work done in their waiting area (+ free Wifi) if you decide to wait while they fix it.

Took my car in for inspection, but do to circumstances out of their control they knew they wouldnt be able to pass it right off the bat and gave me some recommendations for other garages nearby instead. Really appreciate the honesty when they could have easily charged me for the whole ordeal.

Ive been going to State College Midas for over 2 years now and never had a problem. Service is excellent, appointments are reliable, and estimates are right on. The guys are very good about explaining what needs to be done and why. They will recommend other good places for work that they dont do and will give you estimates to shop around if you want. If youre looking for honest, reliable work on your car in State College, this is the place.

Kaleb and Matt are the best. In fact if I have any problems with my life or relationships, Ill go to them as well. They handled my sons car and my frustration in a calm, friendly manner. Even when they couldnt fix the problem, they helped me figure out how to get help for the car, explaining what I should do. I went to Midas because of the good reviews and I was not disappointed. Mechanics were very comprehensive in their explanation of what needed to be done and why. The price was fair and the service was done timely.Not that easy to find a place like this, specially in State College where all business are trying to take their share on the money that the kids who can afford paying to study at the local University brings to town.

When I bought my first car, I was told not to go to national franchises for repairs for fear of being overcharged or repairs underperformed. This is not the case with the State College Midas! After a family-run business tried to sell me on parts and labor that (very obviously) did not need to be repaired (it was a steel rod that they said wasnt remotely broken but THEY might break, and I would have to pay an extra $500 for up front, when they replaced the suspension....) I went for a second opinion at Midas. Not only did they take me in last minute, but they gave me piece of mind that they were not taking advantage of me by walking me through the failing suspension and repair process, pointing out to me personally what went wrong and what they could do to fix it. I have brought my car back for oil changes and other minor repairs and am always happy with the service and price!

Had an appointment for 8 am to have tires put on and an alignment we dropped off the night before because we live about an hour away. My husband called at 12 and they said oh should be done at 2. Called us at one to say they couldnt figure out which tire sensor was bad. We get there at about 3 where they now inform us the tie rod end is bad but they did an alignment anyways! Once you have a tie rod end put in you need an alignment!!!! Im not happy at all.

Been going there for the past few years. Had them balance tires, do alignment, replace a shock coil, and replace a few other minor things. Always had a good experiences. They are fairly fast at getting stuff fixed and their prices are very reasonable. Also they are very willing to work with you and explain / show you what the problem is.

Very courteous staff. Will listen to your concerns. I took my vehicle there one day because on my way home it started making a noise. Joe took it for a test drive and then put on the lift. He said, it was safe to drive. We scheduled an appointment to fix a shield underneath the car. I take it there for oil changes, tire rotation, etc. Whatever it needs I take it there.

Most trustworthy shop Ive found in State College. Their prices are reasonable and I never feel like Im being upsold. They always get my car in to the shop in a reasonable amount of time, and get me back on the road quickly.

My first experience with this garage - this place doesnt mess around. Great service, very convenient appointment scheduling, and a straightforwardness that is commendable. I cant comment on how the prices compare. That being said, I believe that cost is just one factor in choosing a garage. I have had some terrible experiences locally in the past and was leery of using a State College garage again, but I needed this work done in a hurry and didnt have any out-of-town options.That being said, I wish I would have been taking my car here to get work done/serviced since Ive lived here - I will be from now on!

Midas has the best service! After being disappointed at some other places, I have been coming here for over a year now and the guys at Midas never let me down. The service is quick and they have FREE inspection if you run over a tree trunk and are not sure if there is any damage. Will come back again. You need to book your appointment early especially during holiday season because they are always busy! That is probably a good sign that other people love this place too!

They did a courtesy check the mechanic broke my rims and told me nothing was wrong with my vehicle well i had a bad transmission leak and i needed ball joints but management is nice and said they would handle it but its been a month and Im still waiting for my rim repairs

I have had nothing but great service from the people here. My car was making horrific noises, and after inspecting it, my mechanic (Joe, I think) took me out and showed me exactly what was going on with it. I have never had a mechanic actually point something out on my car, and this was awesome, because I dont know much about cars. They also told my husband that they would be fine with us purchasing our own parts for them to replace. Thank you all so much for great service!

This was the worst experience I’ve ever had with any auto shop. Went in to have a simple changing of winter to summer tires, and they punctured all four of our tires. Do not recommend. Extremely unprofessional and rude. Luckily we went to Tire Town and they were so helpful! Midas is full of incompetent people.

A very good place for car repair, check and maintenance . people are nice and professional. but here i will not give 5 stars, because the parts are much more expensive than which you order yourself. if you need to replace any parts, just order yourself, it will save you hundreds bucks.

They gave me a free estimate on exhaust repairs. Even though I ended up taking my car back to my home mechanic for various reasons, they were courteous and helpful in the whole process.

Might be good for small things like tires, oil changes, inspections.Recently they pulled some real scam artist stuff on me though.Brought in a vehicle for a front end alignment, the technician called me later that day and claimed that the vehicle needed replacement of worn front end suspension components, estimated at ~600$. He refused to do the alignment without replacing the parts.This vehicle had been inspected only weeks before and so obviously didnt require any work other than the alignment. I went to another shop in the area who did the alignment same day and confirmed my suspicion that there was really nothing wrong.Wont be going back to this place.

Not the cheapest in town, but worth the extra expense because they are honest. They are my regular mechanics and I am happy with them. They are good about referrals to other good mechanics when I have presented them with a problem the required work more involved than what they prefer to handle.

Great place to go. I had some aluminum shielding starting to scrape on the road, 5 minutes in and out with great service.

Had a problem with the heat shield on the bottom of my car. It was rattling pretty bad and wouldnt stop, so my fiance took it to Midas. We didnt have to wait, the mechanics fixed my car right up and didnt even charge because my fiance is a veteran. It was so kind of them! And my car doesnt rattle! :) I wont go anywhere else for car troubles as long as I live in State College. I recommend Midas to everyone!

I brought my car in for an inspection, they told me I needed new break parts but when I took it to another garage for a second opinion they couldnt even get the parts off b/c they were rusted shut. Point is, Midas never even checked. Dont trust them.

Honest and very nice people. new to the area so I dont know any trust worthy places to go but saw the high reviews and I know why. my 2010 Honda crv ac went out and they originally said they were going to charge $40 for the check which is fine considering Hondas $100. they called and said my lines didnt have any coolant at all which I gladly wanted to let them do it but they could not because of a cracked compressor. they called me and told me to come to check it out for myself and he was right. he did not want to fix it because someone else did replace my compressor a year ago and he did not know what was done and this was not a full service shop so he did not want to touch it. love that the info he gave was honest. also I did not get charged for the check even though I double check. highly recommended place.

Ive gone here several times in the two years Ive lived in State College, and always had a great experience. The people who work here are respectful and honest. Theyve declined to do unnecessary work in the past that they couldve charged me for, and have thrown in some courtesy work on big jobs that they didnt have to do, which I take as indications of good business practices. Ive gone to a few other shops and had exhausting experiences of staying on my guard with billing and work authorization (Walks was particularly this way). I go to this Midas when I want to just say hey, look at this and tell me if its a problem and what really needs to be done because I think theyll give me a straight answer.I dont have any affiliation (professional or personal) with Midas or its employees. I just recently had a brake job on my Jeep; Ive have routine maintenance, state inspections, and small mechanical work in the past.

Ive been to this place for a couple of times for state inspection, oil change etc. The service was not bad, but the problem is they keep people waiting, even when you have an appointment. I dont understand how come the state inspection could take one hour and a half?

I brought in a flat tire with no appointment before a big trip and they squeezed me in. At the end of the day they put the tire back on, put the spare and tools back where they belonged and only charged $21! Good people here!

These guys are legit. Ive taken two different vehicles to their shop. The first vehicle was an 03 Celica that we took in after taking to a competitor for inspection. The competitor told us that it needed new brakes and rotors, but the quote they gave us was ridiculous. The implication was that it wouldnt pass inspection without the brakes and rotors. But when we picked the car up, we had found that it had actually passed, and they were just trying to milk us! Very sneaky. Anyway, I took it to Midas for a second opinion. Their quote was $200 less than the first competitor that we took it to, and since the brakes were running low, we had it done. They had it finished in a day, and the brakes are working great so far.The second vehicle I took in was a 1994 Camry for an inspection. I dropped it off without scheduling an appointment, but they still inspected it the very next day. Unfortunately, it didnt pass because the reverse lights werent working. They told me I probably needed a new neutral safety switch. But get this: They suggested that I could probably get it cheaper elsewhere rather than through them ($300) and bring it in to install. What!? An auto mechanic that tells you that you can get a part cheaper somewhere else!? I looked online and, sure enough, I found the part for half that price. They have definitely earned my trust, and made me feel like they werent out to milk my wallet. Ive taken my vehicles to just about every other shop in town, but none of them have come close to the value that I get from State College Midas. Thanks guys!

Im giving one star because the guy in the front desk is so unprofessional, and even rude in some sense. I walked in at the appointed time, told him I had an appointment, and left my key on the desk in front of him. He said OK from his nose, without even bothering to move his eye from the computer screen. Then he kept staring on his computer screen, leaving me standing there for more than five minutes until I asked what I was supposed to do next. He was so unprofessional during the whole process. Hated his rudeness and ignorance.

The muffler fell off my Nissan pickup a couple days ago. I was anticipating a big hassle with getting repairs to my exhaust system made, including ordering parts or an over-night stay in the shop.I called Midas and was able to bring my truck right in. Id been ready to replace the whole system, but they called after an hour to tell me that it wouldnt be necessary to replace the catalytic converter, even though Id already authorised it. That saved me about $200.They had a lifetime-warrantied muffler and tailpipe in stock, and were able to install it in about two hours, all said and done. I left the truck, went for a long walk, and came back to find it all finished. I couldnt be happier. The guys were friendly and kept in touch by phone to authorise the repairs and let me know when it was finished.Ill certainly be going back there for other services very soon.

Don’t make an “appointment” for anything earlier than 8AM. I had an appointment at 7:30AM and waited at the door until 7:40AM. They didn’t begin working on my vehicle until 8AM because they were chatting about their night last night.This town kills me with poor customer service and Midas just topped it all off this morning.
