They helped us when our car ran out of battery what seemed like. Did a quick battery health check and sorted us out to get us back on the roads. Gotta go back in to another check to see any underlying issues. Staff are efficient and they’re not trying rip people off from what I see. Would recommend!

I was recommended to come to this establishment to look at my ac, for the compressor wasnt engaging and was reading that it was over pressurized. I was told that they could fix it up for around $69. 3 hours later, not only could they not fix my issue, it was $130 and my AC still doesnt blow cool air. I had to pay for the coolant ($9 at the store)... which not only doesnt work (and isnt useful), at no point was I EVER informed of the cost until the end. There shouldnt have been any coolant cost if the compressor cant engage, because it wouldnt charge. It also shouldnt cost $130. But they should have given price estimates prior to any work done, I kept waiting for that but it never came. Very unprofessional.Needless to say, I was very disappointed to have to pay so much for absolutely nothing resolved with my cars AC. I could have done nothing and be in the same place that I am now... Only Id still have $130.

Been using j&p for years for engine work and inspections. Never have any issues with their professionalism or with the preformed work. Prices are always reasonable and if the price seems a bit steep they have always taken me out to the vehicle to point to the problem, and point out the things that will make it take much longer than I thought it would because things I didnt consider.In short, they are the only garage I use when it comes to repairs I cant make time to do myself.

Took car in to have oil leak assessed. Quoted for a number of things, including axel. Roughly $2000. After repair and pickup, the next morning I was driving to school and the entire car stopped working in the middle of the road. It was a very dangerous situation. Brought it back and they said I needed most of the spark plugs replaced, and might as well do all, and quoted me roughly $800.At that point I took it to another place to get a second opinion. The second location said the entire engine and everything was dirty and not cleaned up at all. Oil all over. Also, one of the parts I had replaced, the oil pan gasket, had cracked because they had tightened it too much. They literally broke a part they were paid to replace. I then was able to get a cheaper quote on the spark plugs from the second place. Some honest mechanics. They said they had never seen such sloppy work.I am astounded that J&P sent me out on the road without letting me know of the spark plug issue before. Thats the whole point of the inspection. Very suspect that the car was running fine when I took it in and then the first drive after their repair it stopped working all together. And when I went to get my car after refusing to have them replace the spark plugs, the owner wouldnt look me in the eye. Shady and sloppy work. Im a nice, reasonable individual, but I have never had an experience like this with a mechanic. Hope things improve for future customers, because that whole situation could have been worse.

They were on time and super helpful when I went in for my scheduled appointment today. I was surprised they were able to fit me in to get my inspections and brakes done on about 24 hours notice, but they were amazingly helpful and accommodating. I think I found my permanent repair shop for any troubles I have in the future as long as I am living in State College.

Horrible experience here that no customer should ever have to go through. A few months ago they replaced my water hose, but did it with a defective part so my engine started to overheat again after the few months. I took it in for them to fix the issue once and for all, but they took forever to do so, as if it wasnt an emergency and as if they werent in the wrong initially. It took almost a week for them to do a two hour job, when they said they would have it done the next day. They kept making excuses and only took me seriously after I got upset and raised my voice. This caused me to almost miss Thanksgiving because I couldnt drive home. I was stuck in State College for four days when I should have been home way before this. Very dishonest and shady people. I highly do not recommend.

Called to make an appointment when one of my subdue switches stopped working. They were able to get my car in within four days of the call and figured out what the issue was on the same day. They gave me a reasonable service charge and repair estimate. Due to the age of the car I decided not to go through with the repair. However this garage has a friendly and honest staff and I appreciate the service I was provided.

I had to get the clutch and slave cylinder replaced in my manual transmission vehicle. J&P offered a competitive rate compared to the other mechanics I got estimates from, and completed the repair efficiently. After I got the car back, I noticed an intermittent noise coming from under the hood of the vehicle, and J&P was able to see me very quickly and fixed the issue free of charge in under an hour. My car has been driving like new since the repair. A great mechanic in State College.

My car was making a awful noise when braking stopped there because once before they fixed my horn and didn’t charge me. Within 20 minutes of pulling in, they had it looked at and told me my brakes and rotors were metal on metal and gave me a great price to fix it. I highly recommend them to anyone! They are very courteous and friendly and work you in on short notice. In one hour my car was fixed and good as new! Thank you so much!

I did not get my muffler fixed here but the customer service was great. They were honest and explained everything. Although they didnt fix my muffler needing it done today, I will be returning for my next auto repair needs.

This guys have no idea how make repairs. First, After I make appointment,they said me no,you didnt have appointment with us!!!After 3 hours of work car still have exactly same problem. But they ask me to pay 100$ for nothing. It was a wheels alignment. Car still pulls right,exactly as before. Very disappointed.Bad experience.

Absolutely great service. Perfectly honest with the repairs. I called them to take a look at my car making some noises while accelerating, and they agreed to have a look at it in 5 mins of calling. They didnt charge me even a cent for the fixing job which took less than half an hour to do. Highly recommended.

I had a great experiences at J& P. I have been there several times for things like brakes/rotors, inspections, oil changes and small engine issues. They have been courteous, have provided accurate estimates, were timely in their repairs and my car has always left feeling better. They offer the old school honest service that is hard to come by these days and I will happily continue to go there for my servicing needs.

I was in State College for the weekend from out of town and my car wouldnt start. I took it to J&P and left it there for a week because I had to go back home and then pick it up the next weekend. They took it out and drove it around every day but couldnt find anything wrong with it. There was no charge when I went back to pick it up. They were completely honest which was much appreciated! I would definitely recommend this place!

I went to this mechanic to fix my wiper blade that wasnt working. The man working there was extremely nice and friendly. He took time to look at my car, tighten the screw, and it fixed my blade! He didnt charge me at all, and refused to take the money that I offered him. Would absolutely recommend going here!

I called in to see about an emissions test for my truck. Was told to come on in, theyd get it done that very same day. I drove the whole way over there, only to be told that there had been a mistake, and Id need to schedule an appointment. Gas isnt free, nor is time when missing work. I took my business elsewhere.

If you are young, or female, do NOT come here. I went to get my suspension replaced. They tried to convince me that I needed to pay for an additional part (a steel rod) that was NOT broken or damaged that they said THEY might break in the process of replacing my suspension. It was an extra $500 for parts and labor on top of the $700 for the suspension parts and labor ($1200 total). Luckily, a friend of mine is a mechanic and was able to show me the truth, appalled with the printed quote I showed him. Not only was the rod in question not attached to the suspension, but replacing the suspension would not in any shape or form apply stress to that rod. If they broke it, it would NOT have been as a result of the process of replacing the suspension, as they tried to say, but as a result of their own negligence or ignorance.In the end, I got my suspension replaced for $300 compared to the $1200 they told me was absolutely necessary!!! No extra solid metal rod replacement required.

I had a decent experience with J&Ps. I went in because of engine troubles, and was able to get in the same day I called. They did a scan, gave me an estimate and were spot on with what the pricing was. The problem I had with the service, however, was that they charged me $70 just to figure out what was wrong. Auto Zone and other parts stores will do those scans for free (they want to sell you the part you need). The mechanics at J&Ps fixed it in a timely manner, but when I went to pick it up, it still had the same problem. They were kind enough to do the second scan for free, but I ended up paying for two repairs where the original estimate to fix the problem was much cheaper. They still maintained that both repairs would have needed doing, but I wont likely be going back here.

Brought my Camry for inspection. The mechanics are aware of what they are doing and I was in and out in less than an hour.

I was looking for a new place to have my car serviced and chose J&P Pro for a reason.Once in the middle of winter I stopped in their shop because my tire pressures were low.They put air in them on the spot.Another time I was concerned my anti freeze was low and they checked that for me.The man behind the counter was very polite,and so was the service man,so I thought this a place I could trust taking my car to. I had an inspection and oil change for a very reasonable cost.

Told them what I wanted and they did it quickly for a lowest price I could find.Problem - RL caliper spring broke, so my brake pad wore down in about 3 months. I went to another shop first and they quoted me 500 dollars for the bare minimum (700 for what they tried to up-sell me on) even after I had a coupon that took off 90 dollars. I have basic understanding of the prices involved and was in between jobs at the time, so the amount was ridiculous to me.I called around and got estimates for all the parts I needed and J & P was the best price. I came in the next morning told them exactly what I wanted done and they didnt try to up-sell me on anything unnecessary. Now, like I said before I was strapped for cash so I had to cut corners I admit. They just made sure I knew the risk of potential future repairs and did what I asked.

Went in to have rattle in rear diagnosed. Turned out to be a heat shield that needed tightened. They did it in like 5 minutes and out the door with no cost. Talked with them about other issues and they explained it very well and Ill be going back. Honesty is so hard to come by these days, and thats what they gave me.

Got an oil change and tire rotation done here a several weeks ago and they charged me $75 for it! I made the mistake of not asking how much everything was going to be and I felt ripped off. Especially because where I come from (VA) tire rotation is part of the oil change package and it usually doesnt go over $40. However, few days ago I popped the hood to look at something else and noticed that the coolant level was very low: as low as it was when I looked at it last (just before the oil change). So I went to another place in State College to see if there was some sort of leak in the coolant compartment, to find that none of the fluids J&P Pro said they would top-off were actually done! And they charged me $75! very disappointing. Avoid this place if you can.

Flat tire was fixed in about 20 mins. Charged about jus under $13.00. I couldnt complain. Midas charges about $20 for a flat tire repair. Anyone has a flat tire in need of patching, GON HERE!!!
