I had work at 9:30am this morning. On my walk out to the parking lot of my apartment complex, I noticed that my car was completely gone. I distinctly remembered parking in a spot directly opposite my building two nights prior as I normally do. Because I had my parking permit displayed and have had no issues for the past 7 weeks, I assumed it was stolen. I had to call off work, I called the police, and I called my apartment complex.I got sent on a wild goose chase looking for my car and eventually got directed to John Tennis Towing. When I called, I found out they had my car and I was rudely told I can come resolve it in person only between 11am-1pm, with little other details. When I asked how I was supposed to get there without a car, the guy rudely responded with call an uber or something. When I got there, it was clear that they were in the wrong, as they threw my receipt away and told me to get my car. My permit was displayed but they said I should move it to the back window, even though my apartment allows me to have it on either. It is clear to me this company is extremely careless as they did not even take the time to look at my front winshield to see my permit. The poor girl in front of me seemed frustrated and had just been charged over $100, who knows what happened to her.Parking enforcement is only a frustrating scheme for money and is not even carried out accurately. Do better, John Tennis Towing.

If youre paying for a tow with a card, they will tell base the card info over the radio. Turns out, they dont use encryption on their channel at all, so anybody who wanted to could essentially skim your card info- Ive listened to their channel for fun, and made this discovery. If that doesnt tell you how little they care, I dont know what will. They dont use rollbacks for lot patrol, so you better hope the operator knows which cars are anything other than FWD and uses dollies accordingly. If youre a property owner looking for lot patrol, keep looking. None of the local tow companies ever do a consistent job at removing incorrectly parked vehicles. Youll get lots of visits from them around university move-in, and whenever theres large events such as football, but youll hardly see them any other time. Its not uncommon to see cars without permits that manage to go undetected (Im rootin for yall, dont get towed by anybody around here). They have a garage, but I cant speak much of it. Although the fact that Im yet to hear anybody say they brought their car there should tell you that its probably not that good.

They towed my car from a grocery store parking lot. Arrived when the store opened at 6AM. They towed my car at 8AM even though I was shopping on the plaza. Paid $170 when they shouldn’t have even towed my car. Came outside and my car was gone. The parking lot had about 3 towing trucks all towing cars right infront of my eyes. The drivers of the towing trucks seemed as though they were just picking random cars without even looking twice. They were not handling the cars gently. Today was a Penn state game so they’re taking advantage of it and towing every car they lay their eyes on. After they towed my car I paid the fee and drove home. Car wasn’t driving as it should have been. Breaks were squealing, messed up my tire alignment etc. This place needs new management. Manager obviously hasn’t trained people well enough on the job. They’re leaving the cars in worse conditions. Manager needs to step up and do his job correctly. I’m sincerely sorry for everyone else who had their cars towed today without good reason. I advice you also write a comment and share your experience

I would actually give them 0 stars but that was not an option! Rudest female that answers the telephone! I called and asked what their physical address was and I was told to Google it or call my daughter we gave her the information then she HUNG up on me.!!! I understand that they have a hard job but the accusations and the Rudeness were way over the top!!! I would have been fired if I talked with a customer like she talked to me! I did not curse her or raise my voice I simply asked to find out why they towed my daughters car. She became irate and unprofessional and start accusing me of all kinds of things, that I did not say!!!! What kind of business speaks to people like that? There is a reason that they are rated 2 stars!!!!! My daughter was towed from her apartment because her temporary car permit expired at midnight. They towed her car before she got in it the very next day. Right underneath the expired tag was the new one and it had not been switched because she had not been in the car yet. Yes, technically she should have switched it the night before but it was more like a STALKING of the TOWING service which is frightening in itself to think about. I will be calling AAA service to let them know what type of business they are using. I would be fearful if my daughter had to use her AAA service and this company showed up! I will also be calling the BETTER Business Bureau. Be FEARFUL of this company! College students beware! Awful business awful people!

Horrible, they tow your car in areas that are not even marked. They claim there was a sign posted but in reality there was not. The laws are clear when it comes to towing in PA, there must be a sign and it must be lit in the dark. Neither of these cases were true. If this happens to you dont by into their crap. One pay with a credit card, if you have to pay with cash do it. Call the credit card company the minute you get your car out of there. I contacted the attorney general of PA about this company and was told this is the fourth complaint against them. The attorney general said I was correct and would be getting my money back, not only this they are doing a review on this company. Their permits could be revoked. That would be awesome! If you happened to be towed before that happens make sure to know your rights. Also file another complaint with the attorney general.

I had a very pleasant experience with John Tennis towing. I had someone out 30 minutes after calling in a tow request. I was told over the phone how much it would, which is what I was charged. Berry was professional and gave me a step-by-step explanation on the process and what would happen next (thanks Berry!). I was charged the amount quoted, which was a fair amount, I received a receipt which, Berry explained I should present to my insurance company for a possible reimbursement.

I understand when cars are towed for parking too long in an area, but when you target college students who you know dont have money to begin with...tow 2.8 miles to you yard, store less than 24 hours but charge for 2 days because it was over night and charge them $250 to get their car back you committing robbery. That is a rediculous amount of money and you are just idiots. $150-$170 would have been appropriate charge. You are just stealing from already poor kids.

As a Lyft Driver, I took a young man to JTT twice to pick up his commercial truck, which was towed while he was on a long-haul delivery. The second day, he told me they were rude and refused him service previously, despite paying for his vehicle. I offered to stand witness with him the second trip. Standing in the back, arms crossed (with one of their counter lolipops in my mouth) they gave me a few glances, whispered to each other, and served the man. I dont know if there was any racist motivation to their refusal of service, but standing witness seemed to eliminate the problem.

All tow companies in state college are scumbags, and Tennis Towing is no exception. Charging college students $170 to be towed less than 2 miles, most of the time they wrongfully tow or tow within a few minutes of parking somewhere. Drive around downtown and look at how many tow trucks they have out driving around. They’re looking for college students to fiend off of. They hire the most hillbilly low lifes who never got into college so this is their revenge.Screw all the tow companies in downtown state college. I’ve never seen such disgusting practices in my life.

Not only did they rescue my daughter on Easter Saturday when she was on her way home and her car began to leak gas, but the tow truck driver took her over to pick up the Megabus so that she could be with us for Easter. They then expertly repaired her car (fixing a previously-botched repair) and she is back on the road! The price was fair, the service was excellent and I, as an auto mechanic myself, would highly recommend Tennis.

Absolutely awful service from awful people. Every experience with them has been miserable. The employees at this pathetic excuse for a business acted completely disgusting and rude towards a friend of mine who was retrieving items from his totaled car (lambasting us with vulgar language and threats and personal attacks, just for retrieving property that was rightfully his). Not only are the people that work there just rotten, nasty human beings, but they are thieves as well. They routinely scope out my houses parking lot with no notice or request and just tried to steal my car (which was legally parked, permit and all). Its a good thing I caught this crime as it was occurring, as the uneducated, apathetic employee had not raised my front wheels off the ground before trying to pull my car backwards out of the lot; my car has a manual transmission and is FWD and was left in first gear, as is common. So once I pointed this out to him, in his bewilderment, he tried to say he was going to raise the front tires (of course, this is AFTER taking HIS vehicle out of drive; i.e. he was about to drive away and destroy my transmission, costing me thousands of dollars) So after this inept employee lies to my face about stealing my legally parked car from its rightful spot, he then charges me 75 dollars to leave my car where it is. So basically, this business showed up and tried to steal my car illegally and sell it back to me. Once I caught them in the middle of their crime, they decided to extort money from me anyway. Oh, and the best part, right after this guy puts my vehicle down, he tries to tow the legally parked vehicle next to me. John Tennis Towing is absolutely disgusting, I dont know how they are still in business.

Towed a car. They told us a repair would fix the car for $800. When it didnt, they called and said that now it would be $4,000. After discussing with a different mechanic they said the same repair would have been about 30% of that cost AND that there was no way they would have recommended the work because of the other issues that couldve been present. Either way, they should have/did know at the point of the inital estimate that any other number of issues couldve been happening and they never warned us.They also told us we were liable for the $800. When I arranged to have the car towed they agreed to a time on a specific day and said we would discuss the cost/payment. But then on that day no manager was available - apparently at a tow truck company conference? - and there was no one who could possibly release the car to the towing company without him/her - but there was no way for him/her to be reached. (I confirmed the pick up the day before.) Oh. And the final bill was $900.I cant believe AAA works with this company for repairs. Steer clear or be taken for a ride that ends with a car thats not drivable, a much lighter wallet, and possibly lung cancer from hanging out in the cigarette smoke laden office.UPDATE: I was also rudely informed I had wasted 15 who minutes of the billing manager?s time when I returned (after she never contacted me as her receptionist promised when she returned from her... conference... ) to discuss the bill. She stuck us will ALL fees, as expected, and never actually let me finish a full sentence the entire time I was there. As fun (and expensive) as this lesson was, safe to say we will NOT be using their facility again.

They wrongfully towed my car and turned what should have been a 20 minute drive home into a several hour ordeal. While visiting friends, I parked in visitor parking at The Pointe in State College, and they towed my car because they claimed I was a Pointe resident trying to reserve a visitor parking spot. JTT told us that they would need to check the parking pass on my car and make sure that my parking pass was in fact not for The Pointe (Newsflash: Its not. I dont live there. My parking pass is for another complex.). After nearly an hour of waiting for a call back, my boyfriend called to ask what was going on, and they said they did have my car and wrongfully towed it. They offered to drop my car off in a few hours or said I could come get my car myself. I did not, and still do not, have faith in this company to keep their word with returning my car. Of course, I couldnt drive to get my car myself mainly because THEY TOOK MY CAR and my boyfriend doesnt drive. Eventually, they offered to send someone to pick me up and take me to their lot. When we got to the towing lot, the lady at the office took my name and information. I asked her where Im supposed to park if their tow truck drivers will tow me, a visitor, when I park in visitor parking. She said I had done nothing wrong, they wouldnt charge me for the tow, and that I should continue parking in visitor parking. I absolutely would not be surprised if this happens again. These people dont seem to have any clue what theyre doing. No one bothered to stop and read my parking pass before towing my car. This is extremely frustrating seeing that my boyfriend and several of our friends live at The Pointe, and I often spend weekends there. If I ever need rightful towing of my car, I will do everything I can to avoid using this company.

AAA allows them to charge you $4 per mile so I only should have been charged 40 dollars they charged my card 65 and when I called to inquire about the extra fee. They came up with this b/s story about how it ended up being extra mile but thats not how mileage work the only way miles are added on is if the drive gets lost along the way causes them to take alternative route and that shouldnt be an added fee for me to pay.
