I worked with Kerrigan for both policies. She was sweet, professional, and very helpful. I had my auto and home quote within 30 minutes after I submitted all of the necessary information, and shes always quick to answer any questions about my coverage. Amazing service! American Family had the best rates in my area

The staff is horrible. I was called names while walking past the entrance. The people are super judgement and unprofessional.. surprised they have clients.The 4 people with good reviews are the staff or fake reviews..none has more than this reviews. Calling the main company my first opportunity.

My mom and I had Robert as our agent for years. We were never really impressed with him. We switched elsewhere when we found out they had our house underinsured by $60,000 and after 7+ yrs living at this house, AmFam had never re-evaluated the home value and increased the coverage accordingly. AmFam doubled my auto insurance from $900/year to $1800/year in 1 renewal, for no reason they could explain (no tickets, wrecks, claims, or anything on my part). Robert never knows the answer to your questions, no matter how simple. He always says I dont know. Let me have Rowena call you. Its like youre the agent making the big money, dont you know anything!?! Rowena is always the one to handle pretty much anything you need. God bless Rowena, shes great!
I have been an American Family customer for 11 years, with Robert Mitchals as my agent. Initially, I was on my familys policy as a teenager, but because I didnt really know any better, when I bought my own car, I made the mistake of staying with this insurance company and agent.In the 11 years Ive had policies with AmFam, Ive maybe gotten to talk to Mr. Mitchals himself once or twice. The phone is rarely answered; redirecting to voicemail or the 800-number. When they do answer, you have to go through four or five people who dont know how to answer your question before you get someone who could maybe-possibly help you. Since I was 16 years old, I have only had one car accident--a parking lot fender bender in January of 2017. Not only did they place the full fault on me before even getting my statement, I never heard back from them on the status of the claim, despite three separate calls to the claims department AND my agents local office trying to find out what was going on.The final straw was this past Monday, when I received a letter notifying me that my coverage would be dropped in the next 30 days due to being a high-risk policy. The reasons sited were a speeding ticket from two years ago, the fender bender--which, AGAIN, I hadnt heard anything about since January--and three collisions that my younger brothers had in 2014 and 2015. I am not even on a policy with my brothers! Interestingly, when I called my stepmother to let her know that I would possibly be cancelling my AmFam policy and warning her that it might effect them (since the company clearly has NO IDEA who is on what policy) she informed me that they had dumped AmFam TWO WHOLE YEARS AGO. I have no idea why they would still appear on my files, even ignoring the fact that we dont share a policy.Today, I called my agents office to get this cleared up and was told they couldnt answer my questions about the claim in the agents office, and they would have to contact an underwriter and get back to me before they could understand what was going on and where the mistake had been made. (It should be noted that this is not the first or second, but the THIRD TIME that I have had to call and tell them that I am NOT on the same policy as my family members.) The levels of incompetency from this office and the insurance company as a whole are staggering. The ONLY reason this is a 2-star review instead of 1 is because the women Ive spoken with at the local office have always been polite and seemed to legitimately be trying to help.This isnt even delving into their shoddy online portal, the lack of common discounts that other companies offer, or the rudeness Ive experienced from the 800-number call center. Run away from American Family as fast as you can--they are not here to help, just to make an already-frustrating process more difficult and expensive.
Worse insurance agent. Terrible service, you are only a number that they refer off to someone else. I agree 100% with the other terrible review. We were getting penalized for my HUSBANDS FATHERS accident. Were not even on the same policy. Insane!
Been with Robert Mitchals and American Family Insurance for over 22 years now.
Was in an accident, other persons fault, they hit us from behind. I call my insurance American Family to notify them and to get assistance on how to handle the situation and all I get is a voice mail. Their should be someone returning calls 24/7 because things happen 24/7 and not just Monday-Friday 9-5.
Robert and his staff helped me through the claims process and made sure I taken care of the entire time.
