Been a long time member here. I have got to say, Dennis Hernandez is the general manager that this gym needed. He’s attentive to the needs of the clients, and employees, and gets things done with the little budget provided.I was close to leaving this gym. Good move on golds for bringing in new management.
Not a bad gym but it looks ghetto and run down. Desperately needs renovations
Golds Gym took advantage of the Covid lockdown yo continue to charge personnel for memberships and when requesting a refund denied them. Terrible business practice. Will never use them again, I will support local small business gyms
This gym feels like home. Most of the members been here for a long time. Quiet and personal! Not a lot of people in your way when working out. I can always get my workout done.
Great staff and friendly, glad to be back
This is one of my top 3 gym in the area. Great friendly staff always cheerful. Its very empty in the mornings and not to bad in the evenings. Great workouts here for sure. anyone looking for a cool gym to work out at, come to this location.
Subpar
I just had to submit a formal complaint with the Maryland Attorney Generals office because this organization has continually ignored my requests to cancel. I am in a high-risk group, and have not worked out at Golds in Layhill since February. They continue to charge me, however.
Tried to cancel three times and keep charging me, Do not sign up they will steal your money go to other golds or other gym!
This gym is amazing it has all you need it has a really good group of people that work there if you need a gym and have goals to meet these is the place it has anything you need to achieve your goals
I love this gym. It is small, and a little run down, hence the four stars. But the staff is very friendly and they have a great variety and selection of equipment and classes. I love the child care employees as well - they know my kids and are very capable.Edited to add:I cancelled my membership and continued to be charged after the end of my membership. When I called they couldnt give me any clear answer as to why, even though they could see that it had been cancelled. This happened years ago when I was a member - I will never be a member of Golds Gym again because of this.
Awesome gym. Always empty since everyone decided to sign up to the LA that’s right behind it. All their dumbbells are new. Also have 3 squat racks which is very ideal for that rush hour time when everyone goes after work. Yes it’s small but it has everything you need for whatever part of the body you’re working out that day. The sauna is also a great way to relax after a great workout.
Nice clean gym. All the equipment you need for your workout. Friendly staff and patrons. Highly recommended.
This is smaller gym than others in the area however the members are long time members and all together create a home feel. The familiarity adds a level of comfort rarely found in other gyms. A great place to start your fitness journey and just continuing it.
This gym works 24/7. The gym is always clean and well kept. Their equipment is fantastic. Recommended.
And they let me lift super heavy weights, which other gyms get mad about.
3 squat racks, Jacobs Ladder, great training room with sled push and boxing bag. A lot of different variations of equipment. Sauna and Steam Room. And staff that you can tell cares and makes you feel at home. Small but has everything you need.
Smallest golds I’ve been to. Super dated and in the middle of a small shopping plaza. It’s got what you need if you’re in a pinch.
Read the fine print on canceling the membership after the 3 monhs obligationThey will tell you that it auto cancels after the 3 months. Shock on me when 6 months later they still charge me for gym usage. When I called to ask about it they said i needed to walk in and fill out a 30 day notice cancelation form. This is very misleading to your patrons!
Great staff good equipment the late hours are very convenient during the week. Wish they were a 24/7 gym.
I have had horrible experience with this Golds location. From the customer service, to instructors that do not show up on time, to a front desk doesnt keep you informed that an instructor cancelled, you will just waste your time. There have been times where I was at the gym waiting for it to open only for it open an hour late. When I spoke with the manager (Vince), he did not seem interested in even hearing why I was cancelling my membership in order to address for the future. For the money you will pay, seeing that they do not have the latest or newest equipment, you would expect at least good customer service. I will say the best part about my experience was Ms. Patty who opened in the mornings. There is a new LA Fitness open down the street. I recommend you direct your attention and membership there instead.
Its a small gym that is averagely maintained. They do have a lot of variety of equipment for a small gym. My real issue is that his location cannot open on time consistently. If the gym doesnt open on time, you will be waiting for at least an hour or more for someone to come and open the gym. Happens at least 1 day a week.
Con artist, membership was cancelled (month to month) in Dec 18.Just received a collection notice for unpaid dues.DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING with this gym.
Untrustworthy!Had to cancel membership twice, in personAnd still got billed for two extra months.avoid at all cost.
Untrustworthy. I am due a full payment of $39.They were not able to handle that transaction. Im a professional administrator and told them so. The foundation of any business is trust. I wont trust them again.stay away.Gimmick ask for a membership number okThen call their bogus customer service n they ask for it. Shame on you owners!Stay away they are not fair. Never again
I belonged to this gym before it was purchased by Golds. I have not been there yet, but I remember it was fairly friendly, cleaner than most area gyms, and good location. Id go back.
A small straight to the point gym. I get my goals accomplished here. No fluff just sweat and tears. Cool part is if you want fancypants you have access to Olney, 10 mins away.
I decided to finally visit this gym despite some hesitation. Overall; Small. Needs upgrade. One of the front desk staff members made a rude comment to another staff member about me as I was leaving. She was commenting on the way I worked out. I didnt know I was being watched. As someone who suffered with anxiety and found working out as my outlet, this pissed me off. Never again. Already telling friends and family.
Great gym! Awesome place to start my day.
Old school gym.
Front desk nice, management doesnt seem to address much of the feedback tied to fixing and maintaining equipment -- service has declined from previous years. Good location.
Top
A handful machines broken at any given time and takes anywhere between 3 to 6 weeks to fix and on top of that wifi doesnt work half the time. Save your money.
Beware of this location... Extremely bad customer service...theyre very nice to lure you in but once there....they pull all the hurddles to keep me from canceling my membership....I signed all the forms on time but still was on the hook for an extra month
Old building but organized and maintained
Ol
Friendly staff, small but enough to get your workout on.!!!!
Great GRIT workout.
I used to like this gym😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩
Small but convenient
Place is a rip off....
Good good
Friendly staff.
I like it 👍
Bad experience, I went to cancel the subscription three months ago I went back again and they keep charging me the membership, how irresponsible 😡
