It is incredible what is being done to the members, closing permanently and without warning. Yesterday I was there and bothered to mention anything. Even the receptionist while I was leaving said, See you tomorrow and I arrive today and the gym is closed. They say that a refund will be made when in reality, its not like that and the members are transferes into an elite membership without them knowing.

I’ve been going here for the last 4 years. Excellent place if you want a great workout with weights and or machines. They regularly move around some of the equipment and the most recent iteration makes a lot of sense so as to provide more room. They have classes from spinning to Olympic lifting to circuit type training. There are 2 studios including one you can box in (gloves included!). There’s a lap pool downstairs as well as child care. And as for parking I don’t know what the complaints are about. There’s a city owned parking lot right next door. It’s a dollar an hour. If you are an early bird, it’s free before 7am. Do not, I repeat do not park at the Whole Foods!!! You could get towed and they do enforce. The only thing I will suggest is that just like any club, you read the contract carefully. Ask how long your monthly rate will last, what are the additional fees, and any cancellation policies, including what constitutes proper notice. Do not be afraid to ask questions before you sign or give your card. It still is a business and you should remain vigilant.

I LOVE this Gym!!! Very clean and the staff are very helpful and polite. This gym offers towels and the locker rooms are always clean. Ive always been skeptical about using gym showers, but the ones here are very clean. The layout of the gym is perfect lots of space, new equipment and since Ive been going for the last two months it hasnt been crowded. This is my first gym membership after touring many gyms in the area and I would like to think WSC for the amazing experience!

Ive been a member of Washington Sports Club for over a year. Ive been to the Dupont Circle, Bethesda, and Georgetown locations and had a great experience at each one. Staff members have been super helpful if Ive had a question about a machine or a class. The class instructors are awesome and Ive loved every single one Ive been to. Im a stickler for cleanliness, which can be hit or miss in a gym. At Washington Sports Club it has been a hit every time! It has been a cost-effective, non-intimidating, and overall awesome place to work out!

This is only my second time at the WSC silver spring location & they closed 2 hours early for no reason?????? & then the code on the door to speak with a manager doesn’t even work. Not only is this unprofessional but it is a complete waste of my time.

A reasonable gym with cardio, weight machines, classes, and free weights (and a pool I believe). The issue is that your membership rate mysteriously drifts up over time without any notification or warning or opportunity to discuss in addition to the annual fee. Im actually not sure if this is legal. Unfortunately, these increases in cost do not reflect any type of additional equipment or service but they do like to move things around frequently. Note that I have been a member for the last few years and would gladly change gyms if another option were available.

While I enjoy the facilities generally (turf/pool/studios), the entire place is run like a scam. They have a long history of scamming clients out of money and have had trouble with the local govt because of it. If you dont mind fighting tooth and nail for your money, and often losing, this is the place for you. I recommend paying with a credit card, so you can report them for fraud and get your money back when they inevitably wrongfully charge you.

I been working out in the WSC Silver spring from last 7 years with my friends. Never had this kind of issue were they stopped my guest who came after a while and the staff arguing with us that they don’t let him in. Even telling us about the guest policy which I don’t see anywhere in the WSC website and never been told. When asked for can I have a copy of that policy, they had no answer for that. Then they charge me $15 in my membership to bring a guest without letting me know. Even manager told me that you guys are fine for today. I liked the gym because of it’s cleanness, they have a lot of weights, and machines. I always recommend my friends to go to this gym but after this incident I don’t think I will recommending to anyone. They recently increase my price too from $19.99 to $29.99. Just want to give a overview to the gym “ MANAGER” that gym machines are most of the time broken from last couple months. Please work on that if you don’t want to loose any more members. Management Definitely sucks.Thanks

My husband and I were members for several years. In May of 2019 we found out we were moving out of state and went to cancel our membership. We provided written documentation in-person as per their cancellation policy to do so. In June of 2019 our credit card was again charged for our membership, since we were now out of state we called to see why our memberships hadnt been cancelled. They then said they would make sure our memberships were cancelled. We realized last month they had only cancelled my husbands account and had still been charging us every month for 8 months for my membership. When we called to try and cancel and get reimbursed for 8 months of erroneously charging our credit it card we were told there was no documentation regarding the request and that they werent going to provide us with a refund. While they agreed it didnt make sense we would only cancel one of the two memberships on the account, they told us since they had no documentation of the request they werent providing us a refund. They did somehow miraculously manage to bend their cancellation policy and cancel my account over the phone. I do NOT recommend this gym and cannot believe their refusal to provide me with a refund for something that was their mistake.

This gym is amazing. It is always clean and all of the staff are polite and professional. They have a great range of equipment so I can easily switch up my routine as often as Id like.I have never been to another gym where the staff was so universally polite. Most places I go it is always a mixed bag, but here I have never had a negative experience over my 6 months of going.Their personal trainers are great, though I cannot fit sessions into my schedule right now, I plan to start as soon as I have the time.I also enjoy the hours that are offered. Even though I do not have a regular schedule I find it very easy to find a time to work out.The location is also very convenient. It is easy to fit a workout in between seeing friends and running errands.

The ellipticals I come to use seem to be constantly broken and/or their TVs arent working. Ive reported this multiple times to the front desk but nothing changes. Also, they rearranged the the floor awhile back and cut the stretch area in half which didnt leave enough room. Its often full when I need it. The front desk people only want to talk to each other and could care less about members. The scanner at the desk has be broken for weeks. All in all the place is going downhill rapidly. If you want to lift weights its a good gym, otherwise dont bother.

Ive been a member of WSC for years and have gone intermittently over the years until I started with a personal trainer. I was at first reluctant to work with a trainer because of my many injuries, but I started with James T as my trainer and have never looked back. After working together for a year, the results are astounding (physically and mentally), and more than that, Ive never gotten injured. James has been able to provide intensive training that is tailored to me, adjusts to my injuries, and insures continuous progress. While over the years there have been some issues with the gym being neat and organized, in recent months, it seems like the management has significantly improved and the workout area is well organized and neat. I highly recommend working with a trainer, and youd be hard pressed to do better than James.

I signed up last year because they offer $10.99 per month me and about 5 of my friends joined the club but my account have been charged $15.99 after 2 payments of 10.99 I called the manager denied that they never had that offer no one have full info, the front desk explains well when I signed up. At least they could explain it was a mistake.

So I signed up on for 19.99 deal online on January 2019 and they started charging me 29.99 starting November. When I called the silver spring location to cancel I was told to come at the location to cancel. I was away and couldn’t do it. When I finally make to the branch in January 2020 I was told there is a $10 cancellation fee and will be charged for another month and half. And then the next day they charged me 69.99 and when I calls they branch again they told me it’s annual fee for a membership I already cancelled. I feel like being robbed to be charged for a service I used only once in the whole year. I found the customer service people their to be very blunt and unhelpful. If u r planning to be a member just be aware of what they make you sign.

Shocked this gym has any positive reviews at all. Equipment is disgusting and outdated. Parking is challenging unless you park illegally at Whole Foods or wait until after 9pm to park in the public lot. I’m a motivated person, but I have found myself working out at home to avoid spending time here. Honestly spend your hard earned money elsewhere!

I have been training at WSC in Silver Spring for a few years now. I have a personal trainer there whose name is Diego. He is awesome. Great personality which is very important to me. He pushes me to exceed my own expectations of myself and keeps me motivated. I highly recommend you hire Diego as your trainer.

Bad idea, I recommend not even going inside.Dirty gym, old machines, unfriendly Staff, they continue to charge you even after canceling your subscription for six months and even after your visit them many times trying to cancel, the business model is based on continuing to charge people even after they cancel, it’s a fraud it’s unethical and unfair.Zero respect to the customer their time and their money.

I moved from the one in Bethesda and it’s been disappointing. The equipment it’s all over the place and the cardio zone smells like urine pretty much all the time. Some of the staff is nice but some others are just rude.

The service is very good, the facility is clean. The staff is always very nice. No complaints at all! if you live close by this the GYM you should join. I am pregnant and had the best personal trainer ever! her name is Mavis she was amazing!

I suggest signing up for your membership with the club in Bethesda that is about 15/20 minutes from this one. You will still be able to use the SS location but the Bethesda location is much more trustworthy and has much better customer service. They are much more organized as well.As for the SS location - I am affected by the furlough and haven’t been paid in a month and WSC continues to take money out of my account and unlike most modern businesses, they are able to explain why. They say there’s nothing they can do about it. They tell you to call your bank and ask them.Also, the membership comes with a free fitness evaluation and I contacted the fitness manager and left my information multiple times so that I could receive mine. I never heard back.It is so sad because communication and good customer service is so simple these days but this facility acts as if it’s foreign.

A pretty decent gym. Lots of equipment and since Ive been going its never been packed so Ive never had to wait to use anything. Its a little smaller than youd expect after looking at pictures but its enough room for the amount of people working out at any one time. The parking garage next door is great and if you go in the evenings/weekends its free. Friendly staff and reasonably clean facility. Only thing holding it back from 5 stars is theres no Steam room...cant be 5 stars without a steam room. However there is a nice size sauna in the locker room

Equipment is fair for the price and trainers are friendly, however, the childcare room is horrible. It’s very dirty, toys thrown everywhere, broken shelving and toys. They staff just sits around in their phone and don’t clean the room. It’s shameful considering the children who go to child care are very sweet and well behaved. LA fitness down the street has much cleaner childcare facilities.

One of my favorite places to be in Silver Spring. A really sweet front desk staff and all the equipment you need. There is also a little yoga room if you want some privacy or a quiet place to stretch. A lot of people here are complaining about hidden fees, I dont about you but I just read the contract and that was that.

Awful management. My wife and I used to work out here and tried to cancel the membership when we not in a position to continue using it because we were having a baby. Doing so cost us having to pay additional months. However to add insult to injury the company charged an additional 25 dollars, did not send me a written bill and yesterday I received a collection notice for this bill. The company has my address and my email and my telephone number. In trying to contact the three individuals who we both signed up with and cancelled the membership with they have all left the organization. Avoid at all costs. Note also on line the various litigations against the corporate group for these kinds of practices.

There are a lot of good things about this club. But management never enforces the no cell phone while on a machine rule, and many inconsiderate patrons hog the machines, not even exercising, as a result. In addition, the choice of pop music played in the club is atrocious. How about jazz, ambient, or African music? Today I heard a song in which the main lyric was yes, uttered several hundred times. The maintenance of machines is not impressive.Update 2018-07-19: maintenance of machines is terrible. The staff dont even replace missing pins on weight stacks. With regard to management, place is like a ghost town.Update 2018-11-09: maintenance of facility still embarrassingly bad. The staff does not even replace missing pins in weight stacks. Then there is the lack of cleanliness ...Update 2018-11-27: dont know how this is possible but machine maintenance has further deteriorated. And the staff could at least have vacuumed trash off the floor.

WSC and specifically Trainer James Tillman has been a fantastic experience! I started at WSC Silver Spring after moving to the area. The gym had some issues initially, especially the cleanliness, but recently has come under new management and those issues have been fully addressed. WSC has every piece of equipment you could imagine with different classes as well. Personal Training with James has been a life changer for me. Ive been working with James for 3 years, and can honestly say he has been a Godsend for me. Hes kept me motivated, kept me healthy and safe and has transformed my life and my health. He has helped me to get in the best shape that Ive been in my entire life.

Great gym until you decide to cancel your membership. I’m usually very patient but this is the only place where they can totally ripped you off. They keep charging me after I cancel my membership and no one is willing to help. Do not join if you plan to cancel in the future for whatever reasons. If I can give 0 stars I would.

After a year, we have canceled out membership. fully loaded gym and good classes. However, many, many times the equipment did not work along with the air conditioning. Particularly interesting for us is that no one, not one person on staff ever came along to see how we were doing and to offer some other options for us. We got that at another gym we belonged to and it was very helpful. Staff seems very bored and not particularly professional. Also, we are seniors and are looking for classes that are more designed for some of our physical limitations. We have gone back to the other gym that offers the things we missed at WSC.

I have been going to WSC for about 6 months and have genuinely enjoyed my experience. Aside from the gym etiquette that people sometimes lack (very rarely), it is not Managements fault. As a new gym-goer, I felt welcomed and have seen my confidence increase throughout my time here. Everyone goes to the gym for many reasons-- one of them being to workout and feel good. The gym is just the right size and has just the right amount of equipment for me to achieve just that. In response to reading the negative reviews, I would like to point out that I have seen an immense amount of effort in keeping everything clean, organized, and well-functioning. There has been a maintenance man working on the gym equipment and he fixes it right then and there so customers can continue their workout. I have also seen the cleaners spray and wipe machines every time I go (3x a week at least), even when it doesnt visibly look bad. Also, new management has seem to be making an effort being that he left a voicemail asking how my experience was at WSC and if there was anything he and the team could do to improve. I assume he called several other members as well. Definitely cant expect change over night, but the factors stated about are great first steps! Thanks WSC.

The facility is great. Plenty of machines and classes. However, customer service is ATROCIOUS. I never leave reviews but I truly feel like people need to know before they sign a contract with them. If you cancel, it will get ugly. Good luck. I don’t care how great of a facility you have, lack of customer service will completely destroy that.

I have only positive things to say about this place. Nolan was super friendly and helpful when giving us tours and signing us up. Whenever I run into her she asks how Im doing. The fitness manager, Joseph, knows his stuff. Hes knowledgeable, patient and helpful. When I couldnt remember part of my workout he designed he was happy to come upstairs and show me. Maybe Ive signed up when the staff has made a 180 turnaround because I havent had any issues.

I wish I could give it zero stars. Totally ripped me off. I called to cancel and they didn’t put it through. They keep charging me. I’ve called 7 times and no one will help. Left my number for Gerald, the manager 3 times and never got a call back. Don’t join unless you have a lawyer and are ready to fight in court to drop your membership.UPDATE: Gerald reached out to me and was very helpful and refunded my money. He was very polite and easy to deal with.

I am a regular at WSC Silver Spring. I particularly enjoy the spin and yoga classes, plus the weights and stretching areas. The staff is welcoming and friendly. The gym has plenty of equipment and space, however theres a severe lack of cleanliness. The free weights section is horrendously disorganized, weights are never in their correct places and patrons make little effort in placing them back. If you need a certain weight... Youre better off looking on the floor.Speaking of the floor.. Youll find weights used in other machines all over the place.Many of the machines are missing weight pins, which means youll have to go search an unused machine and take its pin.Most of the garbages are almost always full with used wipes that others used to wipe off their sweat from equipment.Staff are very rude : this seems to be an ongoing issue that hasnt been resolved, based on prior reviews. For instance, I literally stood in front of the counter for a minute being ignored by the staff person while she was socializing with her friends, until *her friend * pointed out to her that she should scan me in. How is this acceptable? I guess the owner / manager just doesnt care about service.

The unfortunate thing is this has all of the facilities and classes you need but the facilities and the customer service are horrendous. The air conditioning was out during the hottest months of the summer so you can only work out for a fraction of the time. The heater in the pool now is out and wasnt allergic to it by the person at the front desk, I had to walk into the locker room to see a sign before I realized that the pool was ice cold. The pool also looks dirty, but thats not out of the ordinary - I usually have to ask myself if theres something potentially wrong in the pool before I jump in. Speaking of which, Ive asked why is the pool closed due to no one on duty but for 95% of every swim over the past several years, Ive never seen a lifeguard on duty. Also, why is it that some branches and some people will roll and hand you towels while at this particular branch, theyre crumpled, in a basket, and the person at the front desk is on their phone. Ive asked in the past for two towels and received either a grunt, a look, or a toss.it also doesnt help that sounds of machines are not working properly and when I went to mention anything to management, I received a were working on it but it would be over the course of several months that I would be asking.

Probably the worst run gym in existence. Im not really sure what the staff does besides congregate at the front desk or hide. The locker rooms are filthy, they usually run out of towels or hot water, and the gym itself is not maintained very well. Please dont waste your money and go elsewhere.

I have been going to this gym for over a year and the service has just declined beyond belief. There is NO regard for the consumer. Staff are rude, unresponsive and unprofessional.First, classes that are well attended like Tuesday night with Club Strength have been canceled. There was no warning for any of the 20+ people who attend this class each week. Instead, after class, one night, we were told the class was cut. No reason given. The instructor was clearly upset. The class instead was replaced by a new class that you had to pay for to attend. Money scheme! The options for classes keeps dwindling unless you want to pay for a class in addition to monthly membership.Brad, the manger, is rude, unresponsive and arrogant. He refuses to acknowledge the consumer and instead is more intent on profits than customer service. When you call to speak to him you cant get in touch with him because the front desk always says hes unavailable. Sending an email is useless as he does not respond. When you are transferred to the voicemail you are sent to the general mail box with no perosn attached. When I did finally speak to him, I had to wait for 30 minutes in person at the gym. At that point he was dismissive and condescending.The front desk staff is immature and unprofessional. I had to listen to the front attendant gossip on the phone about her five boyfriends rather then scan my ID. This is a repeated event each time I attend the gym, which is frequently. The dress of the front desk staff is often scandalous, to say the least. Last time, the front desk attendants leggings were so tight I could read the wording on her undergarments.Very disappointing.

DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM! Where should I start? For one, this gym is always overcrowded. On top of that, all of the equipment is old and/or damaged and the locker rooms are disgusting. The last straw for me was when they decided to increase my monthly rate without notifying me. When I tried to dispute these charges, the manager who handles refunds was never available. He never once returned my calls either. I had to get corporate involved to get any sort of resolution. Don’t just walk away from this gym…RUN!

They are only good to people who join the membership but they will give you a hard time when you quit.The staff here are rude, they dont want to listen to your concerns, and they are lying!Fine, you are going to have okay time at the the gym but be prepared when you want to cancel your membership,So heres my story:I moved to a different area so I had to cancel my membership. I went there on May 14 to cancel my membership, talked to the lady there and she said they would cancel my membership after 45 days, because there is a 45 day agreement so it would be the last day of June, I even asked a week after if I would be charged after 45 days and the person on the phone told me no sir, you wont be charged for the month of July. Still, I got charged for July, so I called, and they told me nobody cancelled my membership, and they are going to charge me another 40 dollars for nothing. I called 5 times and they always say, the manager is going to be available this time but the manager is never available to talk to me so I decided to go there by myself and the staff told me that the manager will call me after 2 days. I waited for more than a week and nobody called me.To all the current members at the gym,If you want to cancel your membership, ask for a receipt!!!And to all who wants to be a member of this gym, be prepared for this situation when you cancel your membership!!!

If I could give them 0 I would. They are very nice until you decided to cancel your membership. They dont even act to serve their customers right. They are such a cheat. I joined them and I decided it would be a waste of money since i like walking outdoors. So, I called to cancel my membership after a couple of hours joining the gym. The guy said no problem and I should get my money back. The next day I noticed on my account that I got charged even more without my knowledge. I called to clarify what is happening. They told me the manager would call me right back. They never did. I called the next day, I got the same response. I decided to go in person. The manager was very unprofessional and didnt even try to tell me the reason for extra charge. She said I will get my money back and keep cutting me off when I tried to voice my concern. Now I have to cancel my card so that this crooks wont take my money again. Very disappointing. If u can, please stay very much away.

Billing practices are a SCAM. Rates were raised by 50% twice over my 4 year membership with no notice or justification. Cancelling requires a certified letter be sent or to go in and speak directly with the manager who uses the front desk employees to delay speaking with customers for as long as possible. Even then, you can only cancel with a 30-day notice so that the gym can bill you one last time for the service you no longer desire to use. This company deserves to be sued for its shady business practices.EDIT: Sent an email to the Address from the company reply below, haven’t heard anything back for 2 weeks. Wouldn’t be surprised if this goes unresolved for another month as they continue to try and bill me, will update then.

Shady business practices. I was a member here for nearly two years until I got too busy and decided to cancel my membership. When I went to cancel, the guy who processed it charged me a cancellation fee ($25) and a pro-rated fee for the rest of the month. Fair enough. But several weeks later WSC charged me a $70 annual fee, and when I returned to the gym to complain I was told that because I had cancelled less than 45 days before the anniversary of my join date that I was still required to pay. So, in other words, I was forced to pay for an entire extra year of membership even though I cancelled before the current year is up.These corporate gyms make their money by cynically bilking saps like me. Do yourself a favor and avoid them if you can.

Buyer beware: I would steer clear of this gym. The equipment is pretty dated, the pool is closed pretty frequently, the aerobic equipment is also hit or miss on whether they work or now, and worst of all the pricing changes even after you pay an initiation fee where youre told specifically that the price is locked in.

Good gym but then I moved from the area and cancelled my membership. For the first month it was fine and then they started dinging my account for the membership fee. Am trying to get it resolved and I will definitely update here if it is or isnt. That is why I gave it two stars--I resent having to waste my time doing this all over again.Meanwhile call out to a great personal trainer at that gym -- Richard. He is great and the reason I gave the gym two stars instead of one for their continual dinging of my account.My recommendation: if you sign up on a month to month membership use a prepaid card that you can ditch after you leave.

Dirty, the equipment is never clean, there isnt enough paper towels hand sanitizer. Gym is adequate equipment wise better than planet fitness. But the locker rooms are dirty and overall gym is not up kept well.

I have really been impressed with the new management of this club. The current team is doing a better job of organizing the space, keeping it clean and making club rules really clear - like no cell phone use in the exercise area. It is annoying and sometimes uncomfortable to be next to someone swearing on the phone to whomever it is they are talking to or going on for ever about some mindless thing. Get your head into the exercise people!! Now if they only could find a way to block cell phone use in the changing rooms. No nude pics of WSC members on YouTube yet, but is it a matter of time?

I dont know what is going on with the AC in this location. It seems like it works a month, then stops working for two weeks and so on. Were on summer already, its way too hot, not even outside is that hot. You start sweating just from walking upstair, and since everyone is sweating excessively, all the equipment is disgusting. Hope this problem gets definitely fixed.

I enjoy the club. Been going there over 1 year now. I have 1 issue. Stairmaster machine broke since last November. When I mentioned it to the front desk staff they directed me to the fitness manager (Cody). I have emailed him about 5 times in 90 days because the machine was never fixed nor replaced! His reply was short with me regarding my request. We are getting brand new machine for Christmas he said. I replied, is this stairmaster being replaced? Cody gave the same response! Needless to say he was rude and the machine was never replaced. That was 7 months ago!

The facilities are ok, however if I could drop my rating to -10 stars I would. I signed up and was told that I could cancel my membership with no charges during their one week trial. After 2 days I felt like it was too far away and I could get a better deal with a gym nearby, I went to cancel thought everything went well but a day later they charged me $40. I went back seven times over the course of 2 months and they charged me $10 twice more despite me canceling ages ago. Their customer service was horrible I was given the same managers card like 4 times and he was almost always on vacation or on a call. They reply to like 1 out of every 5 emails I sent. Finally I just transferred the issue over to my bank and thankfully Im done with that place. Word of advice, dont go there.

I quit WSC even though I was a long-term member and I just live a few blocks away. Space is small and they keep switching men to the womens locker room on short notice. The equipment breaks downs far too much. They bought in new equipment early last year and by mid-year, many of those machines were not working. The last straw was when they raised my monthly membership fees to over sixty dollars without my authorization. When I inquired about the increase, I was told that was done so I could access other clubs. Because I live close I dont need to go to other clubs and I never heard of any clubs/gyms that charge double for that kind of access. There are a number of other health clubs in Downtown Silver Spring so dont waste your money on this place!

Very conveniently located, free onstreet parking (before 9am) great early classes Spin, shred- well led.Classes are well run, on time, fun to participate in. Really great members. Locker room is clean comfortable if aging slightly. Front desk staff smiley. Free Towel service. free childcare onsite. My work gives discounted membership so not too pricey. I Love walking to whole foods after to shop. A perfect part of my weekly self care.

I have been a member for 3 years and I have to say Im ready to stop my membership. The air-conditioning goes out on a regular basis, half the machines have just about had it, no one puts the equipment away, I am constantly looking around the place for what I need. The weight area is a mess, the wi-fi is terrible and on most of the machines the cable is bad. For 30 bucs a month, they could do much better.

I wish there was a zero star .......the Staff are unprofessional john who gives you wrong information for some reason even the manager Antony was unprofessional..........when you want to join the gym they are all happy to take your money but when you want to cancel your membership they come up with all sorts of ways to charge you fees.I canceled my membership and was still charged ..when I talked to Anthony who is the manager there instead of refunding my money he said he will charge me an additional fee ..and he was very rude for some reason he was very angry ........VERY VERY UNPROFESSIONAL DONT GO THERE

Do NOT do NOT DO NOT sign up for this gym.On the surface it seems pretty straight forward - a fairly cheap monthly rate for a full service gym. At that rate - I decided to over look the ghetto condition of almost the entire facility. The locker room is usually dirty - the showers disgusting - most of the equipment either broken or partially broken and the abrupt attitude of the staff (I doubt they get paid much).They have this locker room switch thing they do for maintenance where the womens locker room becomes the men and the mens becomes the womens. The problem with that is if you are renting a monthly locker so you can keep some of your basic workout materials there - youre screwed you cant get to them. (Pro Tip: WSC dont make maintenance youre customers problem - fix things when youre closed - if you cant afford to fix things after hours - perhaps youre in the wrong business)Final straw came when I discovered they had cut the lock on my monthly locker and taken all my property inside (even though I paid and they have the contract on file). The person in charge of the location could not be any less helpful - telling me to come back another day and talk to a manager - pretending she could not get one on the phoneTo WSC - lesson 1 in customer service - DO NOT let a customer leave your store feeling wronged - do whatever is necessary to make it right - or theyll light you up on socials and never be back.To Google - DO NOT GO TO THIS GYM. Theres a new Planet Fitness down the street - sure they serve Pizza (odd I know) - but I am thinking their customer service is better that WSC

I just have to take a moment to praise the staff at this gym! This is the third WSC that I visited, trying to figure out which location will suit my needs the best. This Silver Spring location is a perfect fit and honestly, 70% of that was attributed to the staff there! In particular, Osman Kamara, the sales manager. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by him, taken on a personal tour, and had a genuine conversation where he answered all of my questions without making me feel rushed or pressured. To be honest, I bought a membership because of his great customer service skills!For the actual gym review: the amenities are great! I transferred from PF because it was becoming too saturated. At WSC, there are ALWAYS opened machines no matter the time of day, the locker rooms are kept clean and the sauna is a plus. Havent personally tried their crossfit section, but the equipment there seems very modern.

Approximately 2 years year ago, WSC had been advertising $19.95 monthly payment for new membership to the club. After discussing with one of the employees who handled this, it was explained to me that I had to pay roughly around $200.00 to make my monthly rate fixed ($19.95). I paid this amount as upfront fee to keep my monthly rate fixed. This didn’t last long though. To my surprise, I have learnt that my monthly fee was increased to $29.99 a month as of January 2017 without any confirmation and consent from me. I called them seeking explanation as to why the fee was increased violating, their promise to keep it fixed if I paid the around $200.00 upfront fee. They gave me contradicting and lame excuses that don’t hold water by any standard. I was very disappointed and asked them to cancel my membership, only to learn after a month that they deducted another $29.99 from my credit card. As usual, I called again to learn as to why they are taking my money when I have already canceled the membership a month ago. I was told that it is a cancellation fee. It appears that they are there to collect money, instead of earn it by providing good service.The bottom line is, don’t believe any reduced monthly fees that may be advertised by WSC as you will end up paying more, bringing a disappointment to yourself. Honestly, this is not any better than a per-calculated fraud. And I don’t see any bright business future for an organization that exercises such gross mistreatment of customers.

Ive been a member since about June, only because this place is better and closer than LA Fitness. Im getting ready to leave now, so heres my review.1. I work out in the morning and have a pretty tight schedule. I need to work out early, the gym only opens at 5am, with a 50% chance of it opening on time. Theyre usually no more than 5 minutes late, but thats at least 3 sets that get cut off my workout. Also, if you use the parking garage nearby, they start charging at 7am, so thats another factor to consider in the morning.2. Organization and cleanliness is not a priority. I often come in first thing in the morning and there are weights strewn about, not racked up properly, and disorganized. When I have a set time frame, having to hunt for a certain sized weight or unrack 200lbs of someones weight off a bench from the night before seriously interrupts my workout. Cleanliness isnt really enforced, in the mornings at least. Very few people use bench towels and even fewer, if anyone wipes down the benches when theyre done.3. You get a free fitness assessment (I forget what they call it) from a personal trainer when you sign up. Again, my schedule in the morning is strict. The guy said hed meet me at 5am, The morning of, hes not there, after looking for him for about 10-15 minutes (way longer than I should have bothered), I gave up. He comes in at 5:45 and says he tried to call me multiple time to tell me hed be late. After checking my phone, he didnt call until 5:12 am. Yeah buddy, Im already there, you should have called the gym to have them let me know. The second time he tried to meet up with me, he showed up 15 minutes late. I was actually looking for a good personal trainer, but if you cant put more dedication your job, Im not going to bother with you.4. The equipment is starting getting worn down. Two small examples of things that have managed to interrupt my workout; the grips have been missing off the only chinning triangle for a while, the seat on one of the weight benches has been dangerously wobbly and off center. The general state of equipment is pretty worn and I havent seen anything replaced.6. All the rest said, the staff has been generally friendly. I have no complaints about them (minus the one personal trainer) unlike a lot of the other reviews, and honestly, if you dont like them, ignore them. Unless theyre your trainer, who cares? Get your workout done and go home.

So the club was decent but it started going downhill when they switched to a cheaper model of $19:99 a month and no towel service. The company has unethical practices like charging for an annual so called lock in rate. I was charged a lock-in rate after I cancelled my membership. In addition, when you call the head office you have to wait for at least 30 minutes for a customer service representative.

Ive been a member of PSC/WSC since Sept 2007. This has been my home gym since April 2012 and year by year this gym continues to go down hill. At first they offered shampoo, conditioner, bodywash and lotion. Now its just a shampoo & conditioner in one and body wash. Body lotion is long gone. The equipment is getting old and not getting fixed or replaced. I last went to this on Monday Dec 5th 2017 and tried to use a treadmill. It took a while to find one that works. I then wrote down of the 11 treadmills i tried the state they are in:#01 tv & treadmill work#02 tv & treadmill work#03 tv works, treadmill doesn’t. Error 29#04 treadmill stops after 2 minutes says stuck on key#05 tv doesn’t work, treadmill run but feels like the tread gets stuck every few seconds#06 tv doesn’t work, treadmill doesn’t. Came as a guest the front desk person require me to leave my ID. To my surprise apond leaving I noticed my ID out in the open with no front desk person around. Leaving my personal information unsecured and open for public confiscation was not a good way of showing a guest what WSC has to offer.

I was running one morning, and stopped by to ask for a drink of water (at a water fountain there) and hoped to get a tour of the club. I was considering joining. The front desk - rude. First, they wouldnt allow me a drink of water, and then acted PUT OUT when I asked to get information about the club. Finally, the guy reluctantly gave me a print-out of the classes they offered, and said to come back later if I wanted info (it was 9 am, so it wasnt that early). I took the paper, walked out the door, and dropped it in the trash. They lost a customer.

Upside: super convinient location. And I get a 20% discount to Gusto Farm To Street, my go-to place for lunch.Downside: I hate how they throw towels in a bin, no folding. And then anyone can get their bacteria on your potential towel. And you have to pick it up at the entrance.The tinsey-tinsey sauna is not hot enough. This is the worst point.Also the worn rollers make me qestion their sanitary condition.

Let me begin the front desk staff, number one the so called manager nothing to do, always playing around, joking and so disrepecful and un presfesional, they are all laughing and making fun of everything and when you come to check your id, they dont even look at you, they so busy talking and having fun their friends, thats the reason the club had to drop the rates,Whenever I have to come to work out in the morning, is the same story, the showers and sauna are dirty, towels are picked up but nobody cleans, just pick up trash and thats it, you can smell the showers and sauna and it is a turn off to work out, but whenever I come after work, the cleaning guy is always cleaning showers and sauna, you can smell the cleaner and it is really comfortable to take a shower or relax a few moments at the sauna, but here is the thing, why is that nobody pays attention in the morning, we the morning members also deserve a clean shower and sauna and not just those coming after work, MANAGER NEEDS TO PAY ATTENTION AND MAKE SURE THE SAME QUALITY OF CLEANLINESS WE SEE IN THE AFTERNOON IS KEEP IN THE MORNING,

Horrible experience at this gym.Started off when shortly after joining I realized that the sales rep that explained the program to me (Solomon) had basically misrepresented the gym benefits for my membership level.You never really know if youre getting a good deal because they are constantly changing the membership perks and fees. Its difficult to deal with management because theyll give you erroneous information that then gets contradicted at the corporate level and they basically just raise their hands and go, sorry, nothing we can do. In the end, because of some convoluted system that no one can seem to explain to me, Im getting hit with an exorbitant fee.Basically, you cant really go off of what the contract says because they themselves evidently dont know the rules and will give you contradictory info. Additionally, their corporate staff can be very rude and unhelpful, which can be very annoying after waiting on hold for 30 min, only to have to call back and hope for a different operator because according to the rude/unhelpful operator no supervisor is available.If you absolutely have no other place to work out, then join, but do so at your own risk and understand that youll probably have bad experiences and leave upset, saddled with annoying fees at the end of your relationship with them.

The assistant manager by the name of Dominique provides terrible service. I signed up and cancelled in less than a week because of the horrible customer service. In addition, the staff never knows what is going on when you asked them a question such as what is your guest policy .
