So far this experience has been terrific. Have not moved in yet but wanted to share our initial experiences with the Carter staff as we went through a long distance video tour with Carly, wrote numerous emails and texts to get answers to questions and each time whatever staff person received the message the response was quick and concise. We have signed a lease and move in soon and if our initial experience is any indication we look forward to living at The Carter. Thanks for the great work folks. See you soon
I have had the best experience here! The leasing staff is super sweet, Nickole in particular is extremely helpful and kind! She goes above and beyond to answer all questions, and ultimately made the move-in experience very smooth! I am so happy to have had Nickole help with the whole process as it was much better than previous apartments I had moved to.
Pros:-Clean and new luxury apartments.-Energy-efficient units.-The maintenance crew is polite and quick.-Old Town Location.Cons:-Assigned parking that will not be on the same level that you live on.-No guest parking and be careful because they will be towed quickly.-$35 monthly mandatory fee for Valet Trash that doesn’t include Friday or -Saturday nights.-The pool does not receive much sun due to the positioning in the courtyard.-Management changes community rules via the apartment app frequently which gets overwhelming.-Management is not very responsive via email.Summary:The community has the ability to be great but the Mark-Taylor management is bringing this apartment down to a 1-star review. I would recommend living elsewhere.
Bring back the good food trucks
Entire staff at the front office is incredibly helpful through out the entire leasing process and really cares for the residents. Carter truly offers the best luxury apartment experience in Old Town. Maintenance request are completed promptly and the property is always in beautiful condition!
Adam from maintenance is a rockstar any request I put in gets done right away!
My husband has recently incurred financial hardship due to covid and has submitted a CDC declaration preventing eviction. He and I recently got married and now I am trying to get added to my husband’s lease. Per the leasing office I need to apply and submit a $50 payment. No problem. However, management has arbitrarily decided that they will not accept my application payment until the rent has been paid or a payment arrangement has been made. Keep in mind this would require 50% of the balance be paid up front which is essentially the equivalent of one months rent (any person with common sense would know if he were able to do that he would have paid it when it was due). In addition they have tried to keep trying to assert the claim that I do not qualify with my current income since I do not make 2.5 times the monthly rent despite the fact that at the time the lease was established my husband made $110k + a year. Their application requirements clearly specify income is considered on a household basis, not individual. Seems they are walking a very thin line with breaking the law since they dont seem to be applying rules equally across the board.I CANNOT further convey how incredibly vile and slimey this new management team from Mark-Taylor is. If I could rate this complex a zero I would. DO NOT live here. They have effectively and unnecessarily compounded our stress level during these difficult times. Very tacky.Mark Taylor is destroying this property.
Great place to live in the heart of Scottsdale with all the amenities a luxurious Apartment Complex has to offer. If there is ever a problem and something needs to be fixed the management team of Aracelli and Nicole are apt to get right on it and resolve the problem. They are great by communicating either by phone or email. The maintenance staff keeps the grounds clean and is very hands on to complete a maintenance request for something that needs to be fixed in a timely fashion. I would highly recommend living here.
Great management! Great amenities! Grounds are always clean!
I love living here. The only hang up I’ve had was that a month into living here, I had a breach of lease sent to me, falsely accusing me of having a bunch of people I didn’t even know in the community areas. Management admitted they messed up by just sending me a breach of lease and claiming they couldn’t take it off my record. So yes it’s still there. Smh. I’ve never had any issues where I’ve lived and I always pay my rent on time so I really didn’t appreciate receiving a breach of lease ONE month after living here without being spoke to at all!!But pros: Beautiful complex, super clean, parking is great, great gym and location and maintenance staff here is amazing. Adam specifically is always on top of everything! Gets stuff done correctly ASAP!Also no sun on the pool all winter long is a huge con imo 😔
Would give zero starts if I could. The place is filthy and management is a complete joke. Beyond incompetent.
Beautiful building and amenities, however, you cant get cell coverage in your apartment. Kind of a problem. The amenities like the pool table are not available to residents after 6pm unless you rent the room for $250 with a $500 deposit, and the video fitness on deman isnt working. Paying for lots of features that we cant yet enjoy. If you choose a unit over the pool, know that the pump is very loud and runs 24/7.
Clean place with great gym, pool, and neighbors
Amazing place and staff is always friendly! Would recommend to anyone!
I’ve had the best experience here so far! John and Diego from the leasing office have helped tremendously with my moving process. Adam and Dave from maintenance are also very helpful. Everyone here is nice and welcoming. The complex is beautiful, my unit is great. Very happy that I live here 👏🏼😊
This apartment complex is amazing. It has one of the largest fitness centers that I have seen in a complex. The leasing staff is very friendly and willing to assist above and beyond. Great location!
I toured here last week and I cant express how I was welcomed. The staff here made me feel very comfortable. Customer service was on point, this place exceeds my expectations in regards to the professionalism of the staff as well as the quality of the community. I would recommend my close friend and family to live here if they were looking.
Dogs use their balconies as a waste pit. Digusting. Homeless all over coming over the 1st floor apartments, bugs everywhere. Cant wait to move.
Mark Taylor purchased the property two days ago (we signed a lease with the previous rental company already) and there was a mixup so our apartment that we thought was available to move in today was taken! We have nowhere live now and already paid movers!! :( It took us many hours to resolve the problem with the new company but after a long day of working with us they finally came to a solution (fixed there mistake) and we got an upgraded apt.I was very mad and afraid of being homeless at first but they stepped up (first time for an apt complex) and we are happy to have them as management! I’ll update my review if anything changes!EDIT: A bunch of cars were towed because they change the parking rules here but decided not to notify anyone. A bunch of angry Residents including me. That’s not all that changed around here, now you have to wear a wristband just to get into the pool. He wants to do that???I will be doing what it takes to get out of my lease !Another edit: this place looks absolutely beautiful and luxurious until you move in. The first month we had pretty much every cabinet drawer fixed because they are broken and they had to come in repeatedly because they keep breaking. We now have three drawers that we just are leaving broken because they are cheap! I don’t even think the counters are real and there is no way the floors are real wood, I think I was lied to !!!
I had a wonderful time touring with John! He is so friendly and knowledgeable, i love the layout and specifically the pool view. And its very close to old town Scottsdale. Never had a problem with maintenance and everyone makes me feel at home. I definitely recommend this place.
Haven’t moved in yet but wanted to give a review solely based on the touring process we worked with Jason and he was absolutely the best!! If you go tour the Carter you must ask for Jason!
I love living at the carter, it’s clean, the amenities are amazing, the apartment is beautiful, the parking is great (which is hard to find in apartments), and the location is prime. Jordana assisted us with the move in process and she was so helpful and knowledgeable. I will definitely be staying here and renewing my lease when it’s time because this place is amazing!
Amazing staff and prime location in Scottsdale!
Just toured for the second time with Ashli and loved it! Not bad pricing for what you are getting and the location. Definitely cant wait to move in. If you want to tour ask for Ashli because shes great. The amenities are beautiful, the appliances inside the apartment are perfect and the hallways are so clean.
When we first toured the Carter we were really discouraged by the treatment of one of their leasing agents. He made us feel as if we were a burden for him doing what he’s getting paid to do, show us the apartment.Thank goodness I had a change of heart, I can’t praise John enough! What an amazing leasing agent, he has gone beyond my expectations and he is one of the main reasons we changed our minds and signed a lease.
Although my roommate and I chose to move into a different apartment, Brittany and Kierra are the best leasing agents I’ve dealt with. Very helpful and made the application process super quick and easy!
Beautiful property. Helpful staff. Very patient and thorough. Residents were friendly and welcoming. Tastefully decorated, new and clean.
I have lived at Carter for nearly a month. This is by far the best apartment complex Ive ever had the pleasure of living at. Its chic, clean, amenities are great as well as the events that the staff throws for all of us are amazing. Truly love it here!!
UPDATE: 4/24. The new management is terrible and tone deaf. The Maintenance team is still great, the apartments are nice, but the new management does not care about residents and is constantly implementing tedious new policies that increase costs with no benefit to the resident.Original Review************************************************Beautiful apartments and amenities and great customer service. Every time we have made a maintenance request they have gone above and beyond to address the issue quickly. By far the best apartment complex in the old town area! Thank you for actually caring about your current residents!
I’m a current resident at the Carter and really really regret moving in! First off when we first moved in, they had a mess up on our lease (RENTED MY APT TO SOMEONE ELSE AND HAD NONE AVAILABLE TO RENT) and we were about to be homeless and they refused to abide by our agreed-upon lease until I threatened to write a bad review.Second, I had to miss my well in advance scheduled midwife appointment because they decided to illegally tow my car (THEY ARE TOW HAPPY HERE)!!! They realized they made a mistake and are refusing to give me my car back so now I have to pay hundreds of dollars to get it back and also missed my appointment with my midwife which (if your a woman) you’ll know takes sometimes months to make an appointment with!!!3rd: they keep charging additional fees on top of our lease each months which is illegal. I have now contacted their lawyer and they are going to face a lawsuit! I’m not dealing with these crooks anymore!
My friends and I took a tour of this place and the leasing agent was extremely rude. We felt very rushed and uncared for. I definitely will not lease here just because of this encounter. Please work on your customer service.Update: Still havent gotten a comment back about this experience. Not helping your case.
This place is GREAT! S/O to the leasing team for a great & easy experience!
The best staff! The best manager in the business! Cant get better then that!
Noisy Frathouse - bad management - poor maintenance -this was the worst rental experience - noisy college frathouse - dont rent here
DO NOT LIVE HERE. Construction next door every morning at 6am. Oh yes, and that includes weekends. It’s a total nightmare. Staff ignores tenants concerns. This is just one of MANY problems.
Great staff!
I came to look at this property after discovering it online. Upon arriving to the leasing center with my broker, I was not even acknowledged by the staff and had to personally greet the lady at the front desk to ask for help. Her demeanor made us feel unwelcome and not to mention she didn’t even ask what my individual budget needs were. When I saw an apartment on the side of the building that I specifically did not want to rent due to ongoing construction, she still showed me the unit. I felt like I was burdening her to see another unit that was more desirable to me. For a new property, the staff should be more friendly and accommodating and not assume anything about a prospect before doing a needs assessment. For the price, I would recommend driving further into oldtown and save yourself from all of the noise from construction next door.
Beautiful new homes. Check it out. Gorgeous complex.
Lets write a real review, after living in the Carter for the last 8 months on the 1st floor you couldnt pay me to stay in this place. You would think a circus runs this facility, and for paying close to 2,000 a month you would think it would have better management. Since moving in Ive watched the staff switch about 10x. At first when you complained to the staff things got done. Something was broken it got fixed, something was up with the pool or the grills were broke they got fix. Now its not like that. Lets start with the free things given to you. When you first moved in the gym was bright and toasty. Now its shaded off and dark 24/7. The air conditioning has been set so high it is basically an ice box. If a piece is broken it does not get fixed for a long time. Ive even seen people training their people who arent renters in the gym. Its a joke.As for the upstairs they have a yoga room with a tv that doesnt work. Yet they offer this service. Fit on demand.Next youll be shown their game room, and the game room does not work and does not connect to the wifi. So it is a pretty room with nothing to use inside of it. Downstairs the office area has WIFI issues and the printer is usually out of ink.Next youll make your way to the pool table / lounge area. This area was originally said to have small get togethers and allowed for the renters use. After management change it is only available for some $500 fee. Logical. I pay 2,000 a month to pay more to rent a room in the same building.Next were off to the pool. Well it is a beautiful and I give it that. But the way the building is designed it only gets sun for about 3 hours. In the summer time / fall it is a sh*t show of drunken people acting like idiots. Fighting in the pool, and letting everyone they know into the area. I literally watched a person let his 25 friends into the pool. New rules or regulations changed in this time frame... except a little cute email that is not enforced.Also.... they allow pets here and we wont even get into what that has done to the building. As for my apartment the place is cheap. It looks beautiful you walk in and youre like wow, I could totally live here. Then once you move in you realize the floor comes up when it is stepped on. The carpet is not even attached to the ground. The kitchen has cheap electric appliances that dont work half the time and the marble is actually fake, and stains heavily. Cant wait to see if I get my deposit. Then you have our water. There is no water softener installed so the water tests at @610ppm. Im not scientist but thats 4x what the standard is the for EPA. So if you drink this water you are consuming massive amounts of chemicals. And if you clean with this water you cant clean anything. Its great. Ill attach a pic for that too. Also the walls are paper thin and now on the weekly a cleaning crew comes by sprays some magical powder on the carpet and then the entire building and your unit smells like some toxic chemical. When I moved in none of this existed.Lastly you have the parking lot. It is just slammed. I would assume it was designed for those who rented. But it has turned into a floor for people to store their cars. On the 2nd floor alone you wont find parking. Ive tried going higher up and its pretty much cars that havent moved in over a month. Once again an email was sent out about that, but what did that do.Maybe Im just an angry old man, or maybe Im just an honest person trying to write a real review. When I first moved into the Carter it was a marvelous place. Now over the last 8 months I WOULDNT PAY to stay. And I urge the rest of you to know this.I see all these people writing reviews prior to moving in and actually being in the building. Someone should of wrote the truth after being a tenant here for 8 months.Best wishes,Tom
Incredibly pitiful that the management team has to submit 5-star reviews to boost their own rating. I have lived here for nearly three years with no issues, however, this year will certainly be my last.To make a long story short I have recently incurred financial hardship due to Covid-19 and as a result I submitted a signed declaration from the CDC to prevent eviction. I recently got married and now am trying to add my wife to the lease. In order to do this she needs to apply and submit a $50 payment. However, management has arbitrarily decided that they will not accept her application payment until the rent has been paid or a payment arrangement has been made. Keep in mind this would require 50% of the balance be paid up front which is essentially the equivalent of one months rent (any person with common sense would know if I were able to do that I would have paid it when it was due). Also, I have been made aware from friends in the complex that they have had fees waived in the past. In addition they have tried to inconsistently claim that she does not qualify with her current income since she does not make 2.5 times the monthly rent. Their application requirements clearly specify income is considered on a household basis, not individual. Seems they are walking a very thin line with breaking the law since they dont seem to be applying rules equally across the board. It has become abundantly clear that these people are using the fact that my wife would be on the streets to force me into doing something I have made abundantly clear that I am incapable of doing. They have given me a 10-day notice to remove her from the premises or they will file for eviction, which would result in me, my wife and 2 children being homeless during a global pandemic.I CANNOT further convey how incredibly vile and slimey this new management team from Mark-Taylor is. If I could rate this complex a zero I would. DO NOT live here. They have effectively and unnecessarily compounded my stress level during these difficult times. Very tacky.I have a buddy who lives next door at The Griffen (sp) who speaks volumes about that place. I would recommend them any day before wasting time inquiring about living here. There’s a reason they have better reviews.
The place is dirty and not maintained. Also- there is dog urine and poop everywhere. The pool area is disgusting. Our oven and fridge broke multiple times.
